How long to Refurbished Macbooks come into stock?1

I am hoping to buy the Macbook for £550, I have been watching it recently, and it has not been in stock for quite a while now. Does anyone have any idea when they normally come into stock?

Hi rasta9997,
There's really no guarantee. For example, at the time of this posting the 2.26GHz "Unibody" plastic MacBook is available on the refurbished site. It wasn't there 20 minutes ago and it might not be there in 20 minutes. I've purchased my fair share of refurbished machines (about 15 over the past 5 years) and from my experience Apple usually releases them during "peak times."
For example... around 4:15am PST I've seen them make all sorts of products available. Presumably to target East Coast early birds @ 7:30am. In addition I've noticed other batch releases around 4:30pm PST, again presumably to target people when they get home from work or out of class.
Hardly a scientific statement of fact but one thing's for certain, most of the sub $1000 portable offerings are gone within a few hours.

  • How long to transfer macbook pro into imac

I just got my new imac. Started migration from my good old macbook pro through wifi & than connected ethernet cable. 4 hours have gone by now.... Is it normal? How long should this process take more or less ?
    Tks

Thanks for replying. My question: if i plagued an ethernet cable while migration was already on, did the computers change and now migrate through ethernet? The only difference i noticed after connecting the ethernet cable is, the notice about connecting ethernet for a faster migration disappeared. But that was 2 hours ago.... . After how many hours should i start to be suspicious?

Depends on your particular model of MBP. It depends on the context, too. Do you mean hours of usage or do you mean life of the battery?

  • How long will this MacBook Pro last me?

I recently have received a mid-2009 macbook pro as a gift. I have upgraded the software to Mountain Lion (and most likely going to upgrade to Mavericks whenever it comes out). I am going to become a high school senior in the upcoming months. I was wondering how long this laptop would last me! I like gaming, but the graphics aren't that good even on low quality, but I'm sure this laptop will be fine for my last year of high school and til the end of college prehaps?
    Thanks,
    Christopher!
    Edit:
I understand there isn't just a breakdown date or timer, but I am just asking for a guess from the community! Sorry for the confusion if there was any.
    Thank you!

Your machine is about 4 years old and in it's end of life stage for a laptop.
It al depends how much abuse the previous owner did to it, how much wear on the keyboard/Superdrive and on the graphics etc.
I'd say another year or two and it's done.
The reason gaming is bad it's because they are designed for PC towers and the latest graphics which a laptop you can't upgrade.
Also the many OS X operating system versions also has a part as later OS X versions slow down older machines.
If you want to 3D game, then get a PS4 or a Windows 7/8 3D gaming tower and upgrade the video card every couple of years to a better one.
That's the only way, Mac's can't upgrade the video card anymore and new 3D games need better graphics.
The only way one can keep a Mac a very long time is to take exceeding great care of it, all the wear and tear on external devices, then there is a limit to upgrading operating systems and Apple will begin denying security updates as well.
    Good luck

  • How to make different photos come into a frame in a tile-like fashion?

I've been using Final Cut Pro X for a few months, but mainly have been sticking to the basic stuff. Now, for a video I'm doing, I would like to show 4 or 5 different pictures that dynamically come into the frame in a tile-like fashion.
I guess the best way to describe this would be: Photo 1 comes in and resides on the top left. Photo 2 comes in and resides on the top right. Photo 3 comes in and resides in the bottom left. Photo 4 comes in and resides in the bottom right. Photo 5 comes in and resides in the middle. (Or if I can't do 5, then just 4 photos).
The photos are all different (not just a screen tile of one photo).
I could swear that I learned some sort of technique like this in the Final Cut Pro X book, but I can't remember how in the world to do it.
Can you guys please give me a jumpstart on this??? This **is** possible in Final Cut Pro X, isn't it? Or will I need to buy some sort of add-on to do this?
    Thank you so much!!!!

If you want DIY, edit a still into the timeline. Option drag (to duplicate) the clip to the layer immediately above the primary storyline; repeat 3 more times so you have 4 identical clips connected to the original clip on the primary storyline.
For each clip, select, and resize with the transform function. Reposition as necessary. Either keyframe the moves into the correct position in the frame or keyframe the opacity if you want them to appear sequentially.
If you want to do it with a plug-in you might look art this or this.

  • How long will my macbook take for delivery?

Just ordered the Macbook Pro 13" so excited, now I'm wondering how long it'll take for shipping? website said available within 24 hours, and available July 21, or 22nd but I read other people it took up to 2 weeks. I'm kind of impatient...
I live in ON, canada, anyone know how long?

I received mine less than 2 days after I ordered mine. Although I ordered my 13 inch Pro on a Friday night, I received it Tuesday. I don't count Sat. and Sun, and they don't operate. So technically 4 days but 2 days on business days.

  • Will refurbished macbook come with free lion os?

I never get any refurbished item from apple and I would like to know about this, I am pretty sure that if I get a brand new macbook pro after lion os is released then the macbook i'm getting will come with the brand new lion os.
but what if I get an refurbished macbook (2011 model) pro from apple after july? will I be able to get the lion os upgrade for free?
    please advise.

No one here knows.  This is a user to user message board.  No one here works for Apple.  You will need to call the refurbish store.  The staff there will be happy to answer all of your questions.

  • How long has my macbook been asleep?

I was wondering if there was a graph, or some kind of log kept on the macbook pro that tells me the awake time and sleep time of my computer for the past... however long. I know I can open terminal and type "uptime" and get to see how long it has been since my last shut-down, but I want to know specifically for how long my macbook slept during its last sleep. Is there a way to do this? Thanks for the help!

    Hi,
You can get from AWR report ... if you have generated , alert log too and mainly v$instance...

  • How to turn a Macbook Pro into a second display for another Macbook Pro

So my school just gave me a Macbook Pro and I already have a Macbook Pro. I would like to know if I could turn my school Macbook Pro into a second display for my regular Macbook Pro. Thank You!
Both Macs are running Mavericks 10.9.4

If you need administrative access and it is denied to you, then there is no way, as ScreenRecycler and AirDisplay do need administrative access to be installed.

  • How long did your MacBook Pro take to arrive?

My MBP is coming direct from Apple but as it was purchased via a reseller I have no tracking.
Its been over 9 working days already, but the apple site says 2-3 days is typical?
I'm soooo excited but its quickly turning to disappointment with every afternoon.
How long did yours take to arrive?

    Hi there,
When I ordered my custom MBP on June 25, it also said 2-3 days to ship. It shipped the 28th from China and arrived via FedEx on July 3rd. That was with standard shipping. I'm not sure if you used expedited shipping or not, but fyi, it is expedited only after going through customs - i.e. 2 day shipping will mean 2 days after going through customs. Depending on when you ordered, especially if you ordered right before or after Independence Day, it could be a day or two extra to process.
Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it when it finally arrives.

  • How long will a MacBook last?

Im planing to buy the new MacBook with retina. Many have told me  to buy a PC with windows instead of a Mac. They says its overpriced and the specs are to low, compared with other computers on the same price. I love windows, but I found it kind of unstable. I'm sure there's many good and stabile windows computers out there, but I'm a bit tired of sucky windows computer that lags, also games. But when the new retina MacBook had those insane specs, even though its very expensive, wanted me to buy it. I'm doing a bit of gaming, and I'm well known with the grapich card it has, processor, ram and everything. But I also want to do some schoolwork. I just want to do a good investment. At the moment I have a Thosiba with 2.4 intel i3 presses or, 4 gigs ram, intel hd grapich 3000. I know it *****, but I hadn't really much money and my old was broke . So my question is, how many years will a Mac last with a bit of gaming, normal web-browsing, not installing a lot of ****** software and nice treatment? Without starting to get low battery-life, starting to slow down and overheat. And also some tips to make it last longer.
Also people on YouTube have recommended the MacBook Pro, instead of the one with retina, because of its high price. Is that something I should consider?
And one more thing, is the parallels with windows 7 any good?
P.S. I'm not a noob, I'm well known with specs and stuff like that, and all my nerdy friends is getting freaked out because I'm buying a MacBook at this point. I also got to like apple more, after having av fabulous experience with the IPad 3

The other thing to consider is the price is there because the support is second to none, when it comes to person to person support.  The price is there also because there is a whole host of software that will run Mac OS X natively that will not run on a non-Apple machine.    And you can run more software on an Apple machine by virtue of the fact all Windows software will run on a similarly hardware configured machine that is non-Apple.  Issues with running stuff in Mac OS X or Windows can typically be narrowed down to hardware issues, and older drivers or older software not designed to work with the hardware.    Apple offers you the opportunity to buy a Mac, and within the first year extend its warranty to 3 years from date of purchase.  Note the warranty does not cover accidents.  For that you need either a supported homeowners insurance, or a computer insurance such as Safeware.    Instead of taking this forum verbatim on what fails, simply ask what works.   You are much more likely to get an answer that will be accurate.  People can easily blame failure on many things, and fail to look at the problem between the keyboard and the chair.

  • How long does the macbook pro 13 retina battery last

I just recently got my macbook and was wondering this because i am a bit scared. Apple says their battery lasts around 9 hours, what does that mean? If just doing simple work like pages and other programs a like, my battery will last up to 9 or 10 hours but that is when my brightness is less than 60%, it lasts maybe 8 hours at full. However, when I'm doing searches on safari like going on websites and youtube, my battery only lasts about 6.5 hours at 40% brightness, for some reason if i am on netflix it will last longer, maybe for about 7.5 hours 40% brightness. I personally would be happy with 6+ hours and keeping it at a low brightness but if I'm supposed to get more battery than why not?! P.S. When i go on activity monitor it says that none of the applications are using more than 5% (except activity monitor).

    Hey samraymond,
Welcome to the Apple family, I’m glad to hear that you have purchased a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Our marketing pages state that the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display can last up to 9 hours. However, please keep in mind that battery life will definitely vary by use and configuration. Our technical specifications page provides more information on the testing that was conducted to determine battery life:
Apple - MacBook Pro with Retina display - Technical Specifications
    http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs-retina/
Testing conducted by Apple in July 2014 using preproduction 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7–based 15-inch MacBook Pro units, preproduction 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7–based 15-inch MacBook Pro units, and preproduction 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i5–based 13-inch MacBook Pro units. The wireless web test measures battery life by wirelessly browsing 25 popular websites with display brightness set to 12 clicks from bottom or 75%. The HD movie playback test measures battery life by playing back HD 720p content with display brightness set to 12 clicks from bottom or 75%. The standby test measures battery life by allowing a system, connected to a wireless network and signed in to an iCloud account, to enter standby mode with Safari and Mail applications launched and all system settings left at default. Battery life varies by use and configuration. See www.apple.com/batteries for more information.
