How to access PL/SQL  Records

hello all I am in a fix
I need to write a connector which inputs data to an oracle 10g database.
This has to be done using a pl/sql procedure.
Actually there is a Stored procedure which takes record type as
input variable .
So i need to some how create a recordtype from jave to call the
stored procedure.
The procedure looks like
function ( variable in datatypa) as .......
where the dataype is
type datatype is record (...)
I have to call the function via making JDBC calls. How do i do it.
I am seriously stuck.

callable statement is being used to call the stored procedure.
But the stored procedure has "Record" as input
how do i create a Record from java side to send it to
stored procedure.

  • How to access PL/SQL Web Services using java

    New to Webservices. Created PL/SQL Web Service using JDeveloper. Vendor is not sure how to access it using java. Can anyone please help to point in the right direction or provide some sample ?

    So if I'm correct you have already exposed a PL/SQL procedure or function as web service?
    In that case you can generate a proxy (client) for the generated web service using JDeveloper. It will generate Java code which invokes the web service.
    See the wizard in JDeveloper, it should be in the same category as the create PL/SQL web service wizard.

    You should be able to it, but I think you'll need to use a third party JDBC driver.
    I've used a driver from http://www.jturbo.com and another from http://www.inetsoftware.de/ , and if my memory is correct both worked quite well. You can search for other 3rd party drivers here: http://industry.java.sun.com/products/jdbc/drivers

  • How to access PL/SQL code using JDBC

    Hi,
    We have stored procedures written in PL/SQL. These stored procs take both IN and OUT parameters. The parameter types are both regular datatypes like NUMBER, VARCHAR etc. So far so good. I know how to handle these data types.
    Some of the stored procs also use parameters that are defined as composite data types like %ROWTYPE or %RECORD. How would I set the values of these data types? Can I use the oracle extension - support for Oracle Objects to accomplish this. If so please let me know with an example. If not any other suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Karthik

    JDBC (and SQLJ) only support SQL types as stored procedure arguments, not PL/SQL types.
    If your stored procedure uses a PL/SQL-only type, such as BOOLEAN, record types, or index-by tables, then you cannot call it from Java (or, for that matter, from other languages as well).
    There is one exception: scalar index-by table arguments have been supported since JDBC 8.1.7 in the JDBC-OCI driver (refer to the JDBC manual for specifics).
    One workaround is to create wrapper PL/SQL stored procedures that take SQL arguments and convert them to PL/SQL -and vice versa- and call the original PL/SQL stored procedures. For example, a record type could be exploded into individual arguments, or it could be converted into a SQL object type, index-by tables could be represented as SQL collection types, etc.
    You can find a small example of this in the back of the JPublisher manual, where an example is given how to call a PL/SQL stored procedure that takes BOOLEAN arguments.

  • [How To] access Ms SQL Server2k multiple instance via JDBC?

    hi,
    could anybody tell me how to?
    sql server 'servera': ms sql 2000 enterprise (english)
    installed 3 name instances ('instance1','instance2' and 'instance3')
    jdbc driver: i-net opta 2000
    I don't find any parameter like 'instance' in driver's document, so how could I present my db instance?
    Here is my attemp, but not hit:
    "jdbc:inetdae7:servera\instance1?database=aaa" via tcp/ip and
    "jdbc:inetdae7:\\servera$instance1\pipe\sql\query?database=aaa" via pipe
    who can help me, thanks

    Though I am not an expert in this area, I wish to give my thoughts. Each instance will be listening to a particular port. So in the url string you can specify the port to connect to the particular instance. For example
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:oracle","scott","tiger
    the above url string is for the instance running on my local box listening to port 1521.
    If I have one more instance running on 1523, I just change the port number.
    Hope this gives you some insight.
    Cheers.

      r     rec;

      dbms_xmlgen.setbindvalue (ctx, 'y', r.b);
      x := dbms_xmlgen.getxmltype (ctx);

  • Any way to encode/decode PL/SQL record types ?

    Hello everyone,
    I came to XDK because I was looking for an easy way or working around a JDBC driver limitation. Namely that it does not access PL/SQL record types. I thought the best way was to encode my package's public types into XML streams and wrap up each public routine into a set of routines receiving and exporting data in XML.
    I installed XDK 9i/PL/SQL yesterday and tried it on my 8.1.6 db. So far so good.
    However, I did not see anything that does not access directly the database. The only preocupation of XSU is to access directly the DB for a variety of select, insert...
    Am I wrong ?
    I'm looking for a routine that takes an XML varchar, a DTD varchar and some description of my type (to map tags to fields) and parses the whole thing...
    Is there anything I could use to do that ???
    Thanks in advance...

    You code should be instrumented. Whenever you need to debug/trace you switch it on and get a log fileor log table; it maybe a database parameter or simply a package variable, which you can set at runtime.
    This will allow you to debug a production environment where you should never be allowed to change the code or to use adebugger.And very valuable advice this is...
    Debugging needs to be part and parcel of a code unit (like a PL/SQL package), where you can execute it (in production or anywhere else) and tell it "+go forth, execute, and debug thyself+".

    Just trying to figure out how to access the SQL express database that gets installed during the Lync install. Is there a default SA password or group that i can put myself in? When i installed all the databases were thrown all over the different drives.

    Thanks!

    Three database instances are created with Standard edition Lync.  Check out RTC, RTCLocal, and LyncLocal.  Everything you need should be in there.  Make sure you run as admin when accessing these databases if you're attempting to access

  • How can I develope a native mobile cross platform app that can access an SQL server.

    I would do it in html5 as a web app but I also need to access an SQL server and upload data(text) pictures from the camera and
    geolocation data etc.
    I've developed many web based applications, but this is this first attempt to integrate native device functions AND interact with an SQL database.
    So it would have to be able to use form data  then add a photo and geolocation and send everything to the database.
    A site with examples and/or tutorials would be nice.
    To make things worse, I'd also have to be able to work offline and re-sync when networks connections allow.
    If a native app would be too complex, then I was thinking I might be able to develope an app that gathers data then
    passes the info on to a browser to connect with the database.
    But as much as possible I don't want to have to swing back and forth between a browser and an app.
    Pete

    Here is a page a I bookmarked a while back to use jQUERY to access a php scripts sitting on a server that can then interact with the database in the usual way. This means that you will be able to use DW to create the usual HTML CSS and jQuery to make an interactive app.
    I havn't yet tried this but a quick look over the script looks good. Make sure you use php that sanitizes input.

    I try connecting to Revenue records with web services using the same user

    I found another way to access Revenue records. Instead of accessing the
    ListOfRevenue field of the Account web service, I access the ListOfProduct
    field of the Opportunity web service. I also instantiate Opportunity2
    objects so that the code to get a list of opportunities and products
    (containing revenue fields) becomes
    Opportunity2[] rtnListOfOpportunity = new
    Opportunity2[intOpportunityCount];
    try
    for (int intOppIdx = 0; intOppIdx < intOpportunityCount;
    intOppIdx++)
    rtnListOfOpportunity[intOppIdx] = new Opportunity2();
    rtnListOfOpportunity[intOppIdx].ListOfProduct =
    new Product[intProductCount];
    for (int intProdIdx = 0; intProdIdx < intProductCount;
    intProdIdx++)
    rtnListOfOpportunity[intOppIdx].ListOfProduct[intProdIdx] =
    new Product();
    return rtnListOfOpportunity;

    I Assume the following is your sample data
    Table Name: Tab1
    RegID CustID Registration_Start      Registration_End
    1      1      01/04/2005           07/04/2005
    2      2      01/03/2005           29/05/2005
    3      1      21/03/2005           29/03/2005
    4      1      01/03/2005           21/03/2005
    Note : For the Regid "4" I have changed the Registration_End to 21/03/2005. It was earlier 21/04/2005.
    Coming to the query, you need to generate the list of regid that have gaps.
    Try the following query:
    SELECT c.*
    FROM tab1 c
    WHERE c.reg_id NOT IN (
    SELECT a.reg_id
    FROM tab1 a, tab1 b
    WHERE a.cust_id = b.cust_id
    AND a.registration_end = b.registration_start
    Note: I am sorry I didn't have access to the data base to execute my query. Correct me if I am wrong.
