How to adjust Printing margins

How do I reduce the white borders around my pictures when I print.  They used to be 1/8 of an inch, but are now larger.   I have not made any changes to print set-up.

  • Adjust print margins or printable area on laserjet printer

Is there a way to adjust printer margins or printable area on HP laserjet printers such as the 5000, 8000 or 9040 series?
Using either Windows XP or Windows 7 64-bit.
We print CAD drawings to these types of laserjets and the CAD software shows a usable printable area.  I'm wondering if this can be adjusted through drivers or firmware or what controls this?
For example, one printer shows a printable area of 10.653" x 8.138" for a letter size sheet.
    Thanks.

    Hi 3gman,
There is a non-printable area for the LaserJets.  The margin for those printers is about 4.5mm or 1/6" around the edge of the paper.  Even if your software allows you to set a margin value of 0, the printable area will still be approximately equal to your example (10.653 x 8.138").

  • Custom adjusting print margins

I want to adjust the margins of a print so they be asymetric. In the parameter window, the margin adjusment section is inactive. How can I activate it?

Thank you for the additional information. I have Elements v.8, and the margin controls are not active in the dialog for me either.
Here is a work-around using MS PAINT, although if you do not have this, try another program from which to print.
    Enhance the picture in Elements
Go to Select>all, Edit>copy. This puts the picture on the clipboard of the computer
    Open Paint, go to Paste
Drag the picture to where you want it.

This screen shot shows a 4x6" picture in landscape mode. The dialog for setup of margins is active.
    Hope that this helps you.

  • How to set printer margins if using a lot of printers in virtual desktops which are deleted each time users logs off

    Hello,
i am using Firefox version 31. I have a problem with page setup margins. I need to use left
30mm; right 10mm; top 20mm; bottom 20mm. I am using VMware floating assignemnt linked clones
virtual desktops. After users log off - machines are deleted and users next time logs on get's brand
new VDI's. Users gets printers to VDI using login script from Active Directory.
    Option Explicit
    Dim strPrinterUNC, objNetwork
    strPrinterUNC = "\\some_server\printer_number_1"
    Set objNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network")
    objNetwork.AddWindowsPrinterConnection strPrinterUNC
    WScript.Sleep (20000)
    objNetwork.SetDefaultPrinter strPrinterUNC
    Set objNetwork = Nothing
Each user have different logon script, because they use different printers (different printer names e.g. \\some_server\printer_number_2 ; \\some_server\printer_number_3 and etc. Page setup margins in Internet Explorer are ok. But how to make Firefox page setup margins as i need? For other options i have
used CCK2 Wizard 2.0.4 tool. It worked fine. Maybe i can put some information in C:\Program
Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\autoconfig.js I have some usefull data in it allready. I
have found info that: "Setting print margins is done in the printer settings". I have a lot of
printers, so i can not set printer margins individualy for each of them. Now mozilla shows top,
bottom, right, left each 12.7 mm. What should i do if i have a lot of printers in enterprise
    environment?

Firefox has a profile folder that has preferences to save this. But the config that would need to be changed is:
print. save_print_settings = True - (default): Save the print settings after each print job
    Locking that preference: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences]
    Or done manually:
#In order to check the margins, we need to go to ''File'' > ''Page Setup''.
#Once this is done, switch to the ''Margins & Header/Footer'' tab.
#Check what's set there under ''Margins''.
The following are the default values for ''Margins'':
Check these values accordingly and change them if necessary.

  • How to adjust printer page margins on the officejet 6700

How do you adjust the page margins on an Officejet 6700 premium All in One printer. I just bought and set up.
Setup and install went well and every thing seems to be working. I have looked in the set up software and have yet
to find any thing on setting page margins. The issue arose when I printed an email and the right edge of it did not
    print.
    This question was solved.

As I understand it this has a lot to do with the originators message and format (an example here of users with similar issues). It appears html in the messages can cause this and things like scale to fit may not help. Are you able to export the email and open within word or similar program for printing?

  • How do I adjust print margins in Safari

    Hello
I am trying to print out multiple forms via Safari for printing onto removable sticky  address labels.  I cant seem to adjust the print setting to align the text with the label.  I need to set margins to do this.  I have tried adjusting the printable area via the manage custom sizes but this doesn't seem to work.  All my efforts still result in the printer printing will very narrow margin and my text doesn't align with the labels.
I am worried the I might create a world shortage of ink in my attempts to work out what's wrong.  Please help.
I am printing shipping labels in eBay using the Seller manager pro package .
I am using an OKI C531 LED Printer
    Many thanks

I am using Snow Leopard and I don't really see a +shrink to fit+ option.
Using Safari (This also happens with Firefox and Opera), when I do the ⌘P, I get the following dialog:
    [Print Dialog 1|https://files.me.com/w1jp/udykuc]
The only option I see to scale is either putting some number in the +Scale box+ or on the +Paper Handling+ dialog:
    [Print Dialog 2|https://files.me.com/w1jp/uwm676]
Selecting +Scale to fit paper size+ didn't fix the problem either.
It's like the margins aren't working for this printer when printing web pages. All the other applications (non-browser) print correctly.
    [Example of scanned print|https://files.me.com/w1jp/bg2x8q]
    Tnx,

  • HT3771 How do I adjust print margins when printing from Safari?

When I try to print email from Safari, my messages go all the way to the edge of the paper and get cut off. I can't find any page set up adjustments for margins when in Safari, like I can in other software (Word, Excel, etc.).  All I can find are page size, orientation, etc.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're all users here.
Let me hazard a wild guess that you're using Outlook, formerly Hotmail, for email in your web browser.
When the forced 'downgrade' from Hotmail to Outlook occurred, they decided to hide some frequently used commands and made simple message printing from a browser print command nearly impossible, at least for Mac users.
The trick is to use the Print command now hidden within the Outlook menu bar.
It's in the "..." section of the Outlook top menu bar following Categories along with "Mark Read, Mark Unread, Flag, Unflag, and View Message Source".
Select Print from there, it will open a new Outlook Print Message window. You should once again be able to print emails in their entirety.

  • How to adjust print quality via iPad?

How do you adjust the print quality in Pages via iPad? Or what is the best way to print a phoot from iPad?

You do not adjust the print quality in IOS Pages. The capability of your Air Print capable printer for handling Postscript/PDF print jobs, and its inherent resolution capability/setting — will dictate the quality of the print.
Suggest you open the document with Pages v5 on OS X, where you can control the output quality in a PDF export to a capable printer.

Possible place(s) to look for a fix:
This might be a function output of the type of document you are printing.
Try setting the editor to wrap the text at a particular margin size.
Depending on your document editor and / or your browser , much of what is printed is controlled in Print Preview.  The Print Preview feature is available in most editors and most browsers under File, that is, the left-most editor drop down menu function.  (Chrome lacks a File Menu, find these features in Settings.)
You may need to switch the print to landscape.
You can also control the margins, at least to a small degree, in the Page Setup > Margins - Header / Footer tab of Print Preview.  Be Aware:  Expanding the margins may impact the header / footer information that is ordinarily printed on the document along with the text.  You can switch off this information, if desired.

  • Adjusting print margins?

This drives me crazy... No problem connecting a printer and use it... BUT it seems impossible to avoid getting 3 cm of margins on all sides of the paper... I finally bought a new printer (Canon PixmaMP620) from the Apple store just to make sure it would be compatible... BUT it is exactly the same!
I have tried all like setting custom size paper with no margins... I guess it is a combination of the drivers to the printer and the underlying cups that handle the printer... I have not found any solution by Google my problem.
    Can you help me?

Also found the following regarding Page Setup > Margins, which is from the Apple Developer document "Mac OS X Printing System Overview".
The default formatting printer, Any Printer, provides standard paper sizes with margins set to ensure
that the imageable area for each paper size is well within the area to which most printers can print.
Any Printer is the best choice as the formatting printer for a document that may be printed to different printers.
A specific printer should be chosen as the formatting printer only when the document must use the
imageable area defined by a specific printer or to select sheet sizes that are not available for the default Any Printer. For example, choosing a specific printer is necessary when a document must be printed to a printer that prints to the edge of a sheet or to a custom paper size.
If the user changes the formatting printer, the printing system attempts to match the paper size shown in the Paper Size menu to a paper size provided by the newly chosen formatting printer using these rules:
    ■ The printing system looks for a matching paper size. For example, if US Letter is shown in the
pop-up menu, the printing system looks for paper sizes of 8.5 by 11 inches.
    ■ If there is more than one matching paper size, the printing system chooses the matching paper
size whose page rectangle matches most closely.
    ■ If there are no matching paper sizes, the printing system adds the current paper size to the Paper
Size pop-up menu as an item named Other.
