How to attached a sql server 2008 database on sql server 2005

Hi,
I have a backup of database designed over sql server 2008. I need to attacched this on a machine where sql server 2005 is installed and I am getting the message while attaching the database.
"The database can not be opened because it is version 661.
the server supports version 611 and earlier"

You need to install/have another instance of SQL Server 2008, restore over there the database and perhaps create a SSIS package to move objects and data into SQL Server 2005

  • How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012

How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012.
I BACKED UP a SQL Server 2008 database from work, which runs the enterprise version of 2008, and I tried to RESTORE it to my new 64-Bit home PC which is running the new SQL Server Express 2012 64-Bit (Advanced Edition).
But if fails. I get the following message text.
Can anyone help me please. I thought restoring a 2008 database to the later version 2012 would be possible.
Here is the error message. Thanks.

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a

Are you sure your database is SQL server 2008 from error message it seems your SQL server version is 2000.I guess you have multiple versions of SQL server.
AFAIK you cannot restore backup of SQL server 2000 to 2012 directly .Restore it first to SQL 2008/2008R2 or 2005 then take backup again of new database created and then you would be able to restore it on 2012.Its kind of intermediate way
Also make sure your DB size is less than 10 G as max DB size supported by Express edition is 10 G and if your DB size is more than 10 G restore will fail.
You are also trying to restore enterprise DB backup on express edition so you will loose enterprise features on express edition

how can i make iphone mobile website,  database in Sql Server 2005 ?

You need to be a little clearer in what you're asking.
You can't make any web site in SQL Server - it's a database engine, not a website tool.
What you can do is create web sites that pull data from a back-end SQL Server, but the SQL server doesn't handle the client connection at all (that's handled by a web server such as Apache, IIS, or similar).
There are many ways to build such a site including .NET, PHP, Perl and more (although I don't know all the options for Windows servers because they're not as common outside of corporate/enterprise networks).
In either case, given your choice of development language (HTML, plus one of the PHP/Perl/.NET/etc. options), plus your database (SQL Server) plus your web server (IIS, Apache, etc.) you can make any web site you like (or, at least, you're capable of developing).
If you want to opimize that web site for iPhones then there are many references on how mobile browsing differs from the desktop. I'd recommend this book as a reference (and, yes, I understand the irony of linking to a paperback book for web design guidance ). Googling mobile web design (or iPhone web design) might yield more results.

Xl reporter is loading and appears to work fine until you look at the spreadsheet result

    Dear Guru!
I am trying to move a database from mssql server 2008 R2 on mssql server 2012. Made a backup in mssql server management studio, tried to
make a restore in mssql 2012 management studio. But get an error

  • Unable to upgrade SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012 SP1

I'm encountering error after error, after successfully installing the upgrade advisor (which took some doing) and running it with essentially no warnings/errors (the one warning was on the connection strings, as I recall -- and all of the warnings had a
    "fix after" status.
First failure involved SSRS and the inability to create the "managed account". Backed out the upgrade using http://sqldbanotes.blogspot.com/2013/10/how-to-fix-failed-in-place.html
Now the failure involves SSAS and unable to connect to analysis services with name MSSQLServerOLAPService.  That is the logical name for the service, although it shows up as just MSSQLServer when looking at it in the services list.  I tried
setting the service account to a local account as  well as to Local System -- did not make a difference, the upgrade couldn't apparently find it regardless.
Has anybody successfully done an in place upgrade from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012?

  • Which is the best way to migrate the SQL SERVER 2000 Database to SQL SERVER 2003 Database?

    Hi,
I  need to migrate the Production database sql server 2000 to Sql server 2003, Please give me the best idea to migrate the database without any loss data, credentials and  Objects.
    Nandha Kumar

SQL server does not have any version named SQL server 2003 please check the version correctly it should be either SQL 2005,2008,2008 R2,2012
You can use the backup/restore to upgrade the SQL 2000 database to till SQL 2005,2008,2008R2
For SQL Server 2000 to 2012
First upgrade from SQL 2000 database to either SQL 2005, 2008 or 2008R2 and than upgrade it to SQL 2012.
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/eaa1eb44-729f-466b-8233-cb768fbb4208/upgrading-to-sql-server-2008-from-sql-server-2000?forum=sqlsetupandupgrade

And after migration to SQL 2005 or 2008, if you want to script the database than can generate scripts pick DB and check off "script all objects in the selected database".

You can upgrade from SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, and SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012.

  • Extend license for evaluation versions of server 2008 rs and sql 2008 rs

We had to stop our testing because of seasonal business requirements and now have only 11 days before the expiration of our trial versions of SQL Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2008 R2. How do we extend the license for 60 days to complete our testing

    Hi,
Please refer to following article and check if can help you.

  • How to upgrade Windows Server 2008 Foundation to Windows Server 2008 Standard

I have a Dell server with Windows Server 2008 Foundation installed. I am now on a larger network which has their own servers for authentication and the Windows Server 2008 Foundation will not let join a domain with more than 15 users. I was told that I needed
to upgrade Windows server 2008 foundation to Windows server 2008 Standard and that process can be done "in place" but I can't find how do do it. I called Dell and they said they basically said they didn't know what I was talking about.
    How do I  do this?

According to the first one you can perform an in-place upgrade.

  • I installed Crystal Reports server 2008, i'm geting server not started erro

    Hi,
I'm getting error with server not started or not available error (FWM 01003). If i check in CCM, i don't see any entry for CMS server entry. How to start CMS server??? Please advise me. i installed trail version of crystal reports server 2008.
    thanks in advance!!!
    Ben.

I am a consultant for Business Object products and experienced the same exact problem. We were installing Business Objects Edge, which is similar to Crystal Reports Server 2008, with MS SQL Server 2000 SP4 for the CMS System Database on a server that was named <Numbers>-<Letters>.
We discovered that some scripts that the installation and CMS run fail when the Server Name of the Business Objects Edge Server start with a number. When the CMS System Database is setup, a table called CMS_IdNumbers6 is created. It should have three columns, NameId, IdName and third column that is named after the server where you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008, Business Objects Edge or Business Objects Enterprise. This column is called <ServerName>_iad_intensive_int_6400.
This column fails to get created when your server name starts with a number and subsequent scripts that insert records into this column fail. Renaming the server where we were installing Business Objects Edge to <Letters><Numbers> (no dashes either to be safe) solved the problem. We were successfully able to install Business Objects Edge. Please note: This is the server where you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008 that needs to be renamed and NOT the MS SQL Server--just making a note because we had to go back and forth with our server team a couple of times on this point.

  • Can I recover a damaged SQL Server 2008 database with the undamaged .mdb and .ldf files?

Their original SQL Server was 2008, with SP unknown, but installed on D: and C: drives.  The power spike corrupted their O/S on the C:
drive and someone reinstalled both the O/S and the SQL Server, which is now SQL 2008, SP4.  They have intact files for all system databases, both .mdb and .ldf.  Is there some way they can reconnect with the user databases using the intact copies
of the previous system databases? I have heard that if the SQL Server is stopped, previous Master and Msdb .mdb and .ldf files moved into place and the server restarted, that any previous user database .mdb and .ldf files can be accessed by the SQL server.
Is this the case, or are there details missing?

    Hello! try this steps
1 Open your SQL Server Management Studio console. This application shortcut is available in the SQL Server directory in the Windows Start button.
2  Enter the system administrator user name and password. SQL Server's administrator user name is "sa." This account is required for privileges to restore the database. If your restoring on a host provider server, use the administrator user name
and password they supplied for your account.
3 Right-click your database name and select "Attach." In the new window that opens, click the "Add" button to open a dialog box.
4 Select your MDF file and press the "Ok" button. It may take several minutes to restore the database if it is a large file. Once the process is finished, browse your tables to verify the data. The database is now restored.

  • SQL Server 2008 Database Mail Failure

I am currently using SQL Server 2008.  I have database mail setup and it was working for a while without any issues.  However, now we are getting the following message anytime it trys to send an email with a domain address other than our own.
The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 4 (2010-07-21T15:21:58). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (The operation has timed out.). )
The emails have been setup and working since last year up until June 30th.  I have made sure that the server name for the email server is correct.  Ports 25, 110, and 443 are open on the email server and I setup the database mail to use port 25.
    The sever name is webmail.somecompanyname.com
I tested on the server that I could telnet to the mail server and I get the response back from the server that says ready.
I tested sending an email to my work address by right clicking database mail and send test e-mail.  When I send it to my work email it works fine (myname.somecompany.com)
When I do the same test only sending it to my personal comcast account I get the error message in the
    sysmail_faileditems.
Can anyone help shed some light on other possible issues that might be causing this to fail now?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

My issues with the email might be fixed now.  I will be keeping an eye on it today.
It turns out that we have 2 IPs for the 2 different internet providers that we have for our company.
    In the
On Mail server > Exchange Server Manager > SMTP Connector Properties
     > Access Properties > Access Tab > Relay button it had the ip address for one of the providers, but not for the comcast one that we just installed on June 30th.
The network administrator added the ip for comcast to the location above and it seems to be working now.
We will keep our fingers crossed.
    Thanks for all your suggestions.
