How to best performance test OBPM 10.3g solutions?

Hi, is anyone aware of a framework that could be used for performance testing OBPM solutions?
Unlike normal SOA services which can be load tested using SOAP UI or a simple custom java client, BPM solutions could only be load/stress tested by having the process instances at various state in its life cycle.
Would highly appreciate any guidance/documentation?

RMS performance testing using HP Loadrunner

Hi,
We are currently planning on how to do our performance testing of Oracle Retail. We are planning to use HP Loadrunner and use different virtual users for Java, GUI, webservices and database requests. Have anyone here done performance testing in RMS using HP Loadrunner and what kind of setup did you use?

Performance depends on various factors. The major key factors are:
1. Result Set should be Small
2. Amount of Data Transferred should be minimum.
3. Number of Data Transfers should be minimum.
4. Search Overhead should be minimum.
5. Database Load should be minimum.

How to make OBPM 10.3g solutions highly scalable and performant?

Hi experts,
I would like to request some advice on how to make Oracle BPM 10.3g based solutions highly scalable. In our organisation, we are rolling out few processes (3-5) on OBPM 10.3g, with couple of 100 concurrent users on each. But going forward, we expect at least 50 processes, with concurrent users on each process reaching upto 500-1000. We understand that each process could be packaged as separate OBPM project, targeted to separate OBPM engine, where each engine itself is targeted to a separate WebLogic server cluster. Is this the correct approach?
Apart from above, are there any additional factor/apporach that we must consider while implementing our solution?
Is there any documentation that discusses how to improve the performance/scalability of OBPM 10.3g solutions?
We would highly appreciate any pointers.. Many thanks.

There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
The menu item name changes to the browser UA you are presently using.
There is also a User Agent Switcher button, you can add it using View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and dragging the button to your toolbar.

Again, for storage (and retrieval), FireWire 400 should be fast enough. If you are encoding video directly to the external drive, then FireWire 800 would probably be beneficial. But as long as the processing of the video is taking place on the fast internal SATA drive, and then you are storing files on the external drive, FireWire 400 should be fine.
Instead of speculating about whether it will work well or not, you need to set it up and try your typical work flow. That is the only way you will know for sure if performance is acceptable or not.
For Time Machine, you should use a single 1.5TB drive. It is likely that by the time your backup needs comes close to exceeding that space, you will be able to buy a 3TB (or larger) single drive for the same cost. Also, I would not trust a RAID where the interaction between the two drives is through two USB cables and a hub. If your primary storage drive fails, you need your backup to be something that is simple and reliable.
Oh, and there should be no problem with the adapter, if you already have it and it works.
Edit: If those two external drives came formatted for Windows, make sure you have use Disk Utility Partition tab to repartition and reformat the drive. When you select the drive in the Disk Utility sidebar, at the bottom of the screen +Partition Map Scheme+ should say *GUID Partition Table*. When you select the volume under the drive in the sidebar, Format should say *Mac OS Extended (Journaled)*.

How to have continouse performance testing during development phase?

I understand that for corporate projects there are always requirements like roughy how long it can take for certain process.
Is there any rough guideline as how much time certain process will take?
And is there anyway i can have something like JMeter that will do constant monitor of the performance as i start development?
Can go down to method level, but should also be able to show total time taken for a certain module or action etc.
I think it is somthing like continuous integration like cruise control..but is more for performance continouse evaluation..

Just a thought: how useful would continuous performance testing be? First off, I wouldn't have the main build include performance tests. What if the build fails on performance? It isn't necessarily something you'll fix quickly, so you could be stuck with a broken build for quite some time, which means either your devs won't be committing code, or they'll be comitting code on a broken build which kind-of negates the point of CI. So you'd have a nightly build for performance, or something. Then what? Someone comes in in the morning and sees the performance build failed, and fixes it? Hmmm, maybe your corporate culture is different, but we've got a nightly metrics build that sits broken for weeks on end before someone looks at it. As long as the master builds are OK, nobody cares. Given that performance problems might well take several weeks of dedicated time to fix, I reckon they're far more likely to be fixed as a result of failing acceptance tests, rather than the CI environment reporting them

How to Best Optimize Flash site for performance (not SEO)

I am a newbie to Flash design. I have build this site for my client www.888acolyte.com
I watched a bunch of YouTube Videos on how to stracture a site and then pulled together a lot of features from different learning resources.
I loved Flash for its animation capabilities and used a lot of time line tweening in my site layout. My background has a moving blurry colorful spots animation, my pages come out and assemble themselves as animations, transitions and rollover done as animations.
All of it done via Flash's time line tweening.
As the end result site is stattering in performance rather significantly. I am not sure if it is because of the animations I have employed or because of something else?
I used JPG instead of PNGs as they take a lesser size. I used an 80 quality in them out of Photoshop.
Every JPG is scaled to 75% of its actual size as I expect the site to be bigger on some bigger screens. I set it up to "Allow Full screen"
Flash Tab Settings:
In the export options :
JPG Quality = 80
No Sound
SWF Settings:
Checked "Compress Movie"
Checked "Include Hidden Layers"
Checked "Include XMP Metada"
UnChecked "Export SWC"
HTML Tab Settings:
Dimensions: 100%
Quality: High

There is also this "magic button" "Save and Compact", which did not seem to have much effect on the final size of an .swf file.
I hope to receive a feedback on how to properly stracture and optimize a Flash site for the best performance.

[Help] How you guys do the performance test for Hyperion?

Dear All,
Currently, we are building the performance test scripts by using the QALoad. We have identified the following areas for the test.
* Planning Data Form
* Financial Report
* SmartView
However, we hit a number of question.
For Financial Report, when the recorded scripts were playback, we cannot see any pdf files generated under folder $BIPLUS_HOME/temp/.
For SmartView, the recorded scripts just don't work after the Hyperion Services were restarted.
Does anyone have any experience on doing performance test for Hyperion, especially using QALoad? Is there any technical reference out there we can read?
