How to calculate optimized number of members of WLS cluster

Hi everyone.
I have a Oracle AS Portal 11g that run on a cluster with 2 managed servers. Each of managed server run with 8Gb heap (it is too much, I think so).
My system has two node with 32G RAM each one (that run RHEL 4.x). While monitoring, I see that my server use a little amount of CPU. So, I want to increase the number members of cluster. I read the sizing guide for WebLogic Portal but it was not show any guide to determine how to calculate the optimized number of members of cluster.
I'm stuck in this situation for a week. Because my cluster will became "Warning" state after several days caused by Stuck thread. I want to increase size of cluster to improve HA (I'm trying tuning other factor such as network, DB, I/O, ... )
Please tell me your idea to calculate and design the size of cluster with desired resource (eg: 32Gb RAM total, and 6G heap size for each of WLS instance).
Every reply is appreciated
Regards
Cuong Pham

Looking at your struck thread behaviour of application, even increasing the Managed Server will not help.
Yes of course it may provide few more days of application available than the current condition but on long run definitely you will face the same issue again.
Better understand the reason for threads getting struck with the help of thread dump, stack and troubleshoot the actual issue.
Below link will guide you in over coming this issue if there are no leaks in application and if your application actually requires time to process requests
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/ConsoleHelp/taskhelp/tuning/TuningExecuteThreads.html
Other Stuck Thread Handling procedures which weblogic provides are given below
WebLogic Server checks for stuck threads periodically. If all application threads are stuck, a server instance marks itself failed, if configured to do so, exits. You can configure Node Manager or a third-part high-availability solution to restart the server instance for automatic failure recovery.
You can configure these actions to occur when not all threads are stuck, but the number of stuck threads have exceeded a configured threshold,
■Shut down the Work Manager if it has stuck threads. A Work Manager that is shut down will refuse new work and reject existing work in the queue by sending a rejection message. In a cluster, clustered clients will fail over to another cluster member.
■Shut down the application if there are stuck threads in the application. The application is shutdown by bringing it into admin mode. All Work Managers belonging to the application are shut down, and behave as described above.
■Mark the server instance as failed and shut it down it down if there are stuck threads in the server. In a cluster, clustered clients that are connected or attempting to connect will fail over to another cluster member.

    DT,
If the starting date is in Column A, and you want to calculate what the date would be 60 days later, in Column B, write in Column B:
    =A+60

  • How to calculate the number of sent/received emails of a certain domain

Thank you for what you have helped me with!
How to calculate the number of sent/received emails of a certain domain in a certain period? It is Messaging Server 5.2, Directory Server 4.2. Is there a log option for this?
    Thank you.

Not sure where you find, "LOG_MESSSAGE_ADD". I don't actually find this option in the documentation.
The domains that mails are coming from and being sent to are certainly logged in the normal mail.log, so why mess with additional logging options? If you're talking about "LOG_CONNECTION", I actually see no additional data that is useful to you.
If you decide to change the option.dat, you do indeed need to
imsimta cnbuild (note, it's not cnrebuild)
    imsimta restart
If I were facing the same issue, I'd be looking at the log parsing perl script, and simply modifying it to do what I wanted.

How to calculate the number of operations in Undo/Redo stack?
I tried to override UndoManager.pushUndo method and increment "operationsCounter" there, but pushUndo is called each time I make a change in text.
Another idea was to override EditManager.finalizeDo and use "operationsCounter" there, but finalizeDo is private...
    Do you have any idea?

Thanks for the reply. I suggested that existed the more simple way to implement this

    hi,
The above FM can be used for BADI or customer exit, if it is design level then you can use formula as well, under formula date functions you can use DATE_TO_WEEK.

  • How to calculate the number of days worked for a given period

I need to calculate the number of days worked by contractor employees for a time period to be entered by a user. I am building a query on an infoset which contains employee information including contract start date and contract end date for the employee.
Ideally I'd like the user to enter the time period which should be reported on e.g. 01.08.2009 to 31.08.2009
The report should then identify all the contractor employees which were working during this period and to work out how many days they worked during this period. Obviously the contract start and end dates could fall both inside and outside the reporting period.
Can this be done and if so, do you have any suggestions as to how to do it?
    Thanks.

    hi
So here you will first have to load the master data table employee in one internal table and read this table with the variables entries.
Your code in the reporting exit should look like that.
    bye
    data : wa_employee type /bi0/pemployee.
    When 'ZDATE1'
    if i_step = 2.
    LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range WHERE vnam = 'ZDATE2'.
    clear l_s_range.
    clear wa_employee
1- select the entries from table employees
    select single employee dateto datefrom
    from /bi0/pemployee
    into corresponding fields of wa_employee
    where dateto le loc_var_range-low
    and datefrom ge loc_var_range-high.
    if sy-subrc eq 0.
    CALL FUNCTION 'FIMA_DAYS_BETWEEN_TWO_DATES'
       EXPORTING
           i_datum_von  = wa_employee-datefrom
           i_kz_ult_von = 'X'
           i_datum_bis  = wa_employee-dateto

           l_s_range-low  = no_days.
           l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
           l_s_range-opt  = 'EQ'.
          APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
              ENDIF.

  • How to calculate circle number and distinguish the two kinds of circle

    Hello everyone,
Now, there is a problem to find the calculate circle number and distinguish the two kinds of circle in the following picture. You will find that there is two kinds of hole in the following picture, one is blind hole(3 holes), the another is through hole(19 holes).
That is to say, the first task is to calculate circle number, the second task is to distinguish the two kinds of circle in the following picture.
Can you give me some advice how to deal with this problem in the NI Vision Development Module or  NI Vision Assistant.

  • How can I calculate the number of members with data for a given Dimension

HiI want to be able to calculate the exact size of the data given the number of blocks in existence.I am trying to work out a way of estimating the effect of changing Dimensions from Spare to Dense and to see which Dimensions would be worth it.Currently I have Cost Centre and Reference Code dimensions. I know that roughly 90% of the Cost Centres are used against just one member of Reference Codes but the other 10% are against multiple Reference Codes.I also have a number of other dimensions and the problem I come up against is that when I change a Dimension from Sparse I really don't know how many blocks will be in existence at the end of it so I can't multiply this against the blocksize to predict the total datasize.Any thoughts (the artistic "suck it and see" solution is obvious but I'd like to cut down on experiments - they take too long)Thanks

You can do it manually if you like with code in the Error Console.
Copy and paste the code in the Code field in the Error Console and click the Evaluate button.

  • How to calculate the number of events that happened per clock hour.

My example case has a list of patients that were discharged from a hospital yesterday.  The patients are in a field caled "Account number".
The field "Discharge Date" lets me select the date.  The field "Discharge TIme" shows me the time each patient was discharged.
Example:  0715, 0830,1005, 1010, 1025, 1435, etc.   I need to run the report to know how many patients were discharged per each clock hour.  How many were discharged from 0000 to 0100, 0100 - 0200, 0200 - 0300, etc.
    Acct #     Disch Time
    P12121     0715
    P23233     0731
    P34343     0812
    P32333     1015
From research I am assuming I need to capture just the first two numbers that represent the hour and discard the minutes.
I would like to see the results in a similar format to this.
    Hour     #of Patients
    07-08     2
    08-09     1
    09-10     1
    22-23     x
    23-00     x

    Jamie,
I attemped to create the formula and got an error message.
Also, Please explain in a little more detail how I do the following:
"create a group on this new field, you can then right click on your patient field and choose Insert Summary > Count and add this to the group level.
