How to check if an email account exists using JAVA??

Dear friends, I need to check the existence of email accounts before sending them mails to avoid going to a blacklist for sending to non real accounts.
I was thinking on (SSL)Sockets and smtp commands but I cant get it to work properly I am shooting in the dark here... Is there any easier way to do this or does anyone have any experience on this??
I have a JAVA application that sends mail to the people that buy certain things but the information quality is bad, so I must check if the mail exists before sending the mail....

depending on the scope of the possible target email addresses your requirement may not be possible.
The SMTP standard has no protocol to verify an email address.
The reason is that only the target Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) knows if an email adress exists. But your application (representing a Mail User Agent (MUA) aka MailProgramm) only talkes to "its" MTA. The mails may be routed over multiple other MTAs before they finally reach the target MTA which checks if the mail address is known.
So if the mail addresses to check belong to your own company you may use "whois" service to verify the mail adress. But as soon as the mails leave your company there is no other way of verifying the existence of a mail address than processing the "unreachable" replies.

How do I Add an email account that uses my personal server

I have an Iphone 3GS and have been trying to add my regular email account that resides on a personal server. I put in the right incoming and outgoing info and then it says it can not contact my server. I am able to retrieve my email from the website mail2web.com so I know it lets emails be retrieved.
I know that when I set up my outlook exchange on my computer the internet provider would not let me just enter my server but required I use the comcast smtp server. Is this the same with At&T.
Help. This is driving me crazy.

Something is missing or wrong in your settings. OR your server is only accessible via VPN.

SMTP is for sending only; it shouldn't affect receiving. Some ISPs only allow access to their servers for sending if you are directly connected to their network. Others allow access from anywhere, but if they do you must enter a user ID and password even though the iPhone setting says "optional".

How to Test if an Email Address Exists?

So we have all been doing email address validation for awhile which I know how to do, but validation only tests if an email address is entered in the right format. It doesn't verify if an email address actually exists. I am creating an application where there will be membership fees, and so an email has to be in more than the right format, I must be positive that it actually exists when the account is created before any money changes hands. This is critical. Unfortunately, all of my searching for this relating to Flex or Flash Builder has yielded no results. Does anyone know of any tutorials or blogs or articles that discuss how to test if an email address entered by a user actually exists using Flex? or does anyone here have any suggestions on how to approach this problem?

The only definitive way is to send the user an e-mail, and have them verify the email address.
In the past I remember researching options. Depending on how mail servers were set up; I thought there was some way to ping a mail server and ask if the e-mail address was valid. This functionality was turned off on most mail servers to prevent spammers from harvesting email addresses.

How do I change the email account for icloud on my iphone6 only. I don't want to change my ipad or my husband's iphone6. Currently all 3 devices have the same gmail account associated with them. I have created a new & separate apple id and I want that on my phone but I can't figure out how to delete his email from my phone.

To change iCloud accounts you have to go to Settings>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with your other ID to create your new account. If you want to migrate a copy of the iCloud data to the new account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save Image. If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out, choose Keep on My iPhone and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted. Then sign back in with your new Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload the data to your new account. Once you are on a separate account you can go to iCloud.com and delete your husband's data from your account (and he can do the same with yours).
Just be aware that the current @icloud.com email address cannot be moved to the new account, nor can the current my photo stream album (which is why you need to save any my photo stream photos you want to keep to your iPhone before signing out of the existing account).

How do I Sync all email accounts in the OSX Mail Application and mailboxes(including those I have created), all using the .mac sync application . . . or is there a better way to sync information from my powerbook to my imac?

What is meant by mailbox structures? For example: On my powerbook, I have 2 unread messages in one of my IMAP email accounts. I read both messages. I choose to move message A to a client mailbox that I created in the OSX Mail APPL and the other message B I leave as read in the inbox & respond with a sent email . Now I use the .mac sync app on the powerbook. Then I use the .mac sync app on my imac . . . . will the application not sync the same information/sorting/organizing/sent responces into the appropriate mailboxes? I'm so confused.
Also, what "mailboxes behavior" & "advanced" preferences should be checked with IMAP email accounts. All sorts of misc. mailboxes keep being created in the OSX Mail APP. when choosing different preferences. When selecting store on server (mailboxes created indicate: stored locally on computer). Again very confused.

The benefit of using an IMAP is keeping server stored messages synchronized when accessing the account with an email client such as the Mail.app on different Macs.
Messages in the Inbox mailbox for an IMAP type account are stored on the server by default which cannot be turned off.
With an IMAP type account, you can also store Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk messages on the server which is available under the Mailbox Behaviors tab for the account preferences.
If you want to keep Sent messages synchronized with Mail on both Macs, you need to select "Store sent messages on the server" under the Mailbox Behaviors tab for the account preferences in Mail on both Macs.

Was this client mailbox created as an "On My Mac" location mailbox? If so, an "On My Mac" location mailbox is stored locally on the hard drive, not on the server so messages moved to such a mailbox will not be kept synchronized with Mail on both Macs. Transferring a message from the account's Inbox mailbox or from any server stored mailbox to an "On My Mac" location mailbox stores the transferred message locally on the hard drive and removes the message from the server at the same time.
When creating a mailbox, the default location is "On My Mac" which is stored locally on the hard drive. If you are accessing an IMAP type account, you can select the IMAP account via the location selection which will create the mailbox on the server and be available in Mail on the other Mac. Messages placed in a server stored mailbox will be kept synchronized with Mail on both Macs.

Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.

I can see in the 'Account' column of each message which email account it's using.
Then, I either junk or read the message, followed by delete or file to one of my created folders.
As it is, half my page is depth is taken up by 12 lines of Account names !!!

That still leaves SIX lines of Account names down the side. All I want is ONE INBOX ... (I can see which account each message belongs to in the 'Account' column...)
