How to choose the index on which column?

Hi
i have a doubt while creating index for the table which is not having index. how to choose index on which column it will be beneficial ?
i heard from num_rows from dba_tables and some other view to calculate but i m not sure. with the help of that view we can see how much columns is used more freq on which column we have to create index rather than just checking in query on where condition and full table scan? pls help me out to decide the index creation on basis.

In my opinion, there's no shortcut to knowing your queries, how the table is going to be accessed and what proportion of the rows various queries will access.
There are tuning advisors which will recommend some indexes if you run a workload.

How to define the Index on the column which is define in view (9i)

I have one view which is based on to tables say 'customers' and 'vendors'
view definition is like:

An index is a pointer. A pointer to a data place.
Data result of a view aren't stored.
So, how an index may work against a view ?
SQL> create index idx1 on v1(type);
create index idx1 on v1(type)

ORA-01702: a view is not appropriate hereThink about mview instead of view, maybe that can help. Data result of mview are stored somewhere in database, so you are allowed to create an index against mview, like for table.
Anyway, if you want 'Customer', why not request onto customers table ?

I'd like to know how to get the index of a <h:column> element.

I finally got to do something with my little knowledge =P
I created a new class containing all the data needed for the dataTable (including a "String id").
And that's what I get:

How to remove the note text for column (portal)

Just i wanted to know how to remove the note (text) which is coming infrond the column in the appraisal template in portal view.
My client doest want the text "note" (which i highlighted in the yellow) comming infrond the coulum. Pls can anyone tell me how can i remove only the "note" text from the template?

In SE80, Choose Web Dynpro Component HAP_DOCUMENT_BODY and you will find the component controller node, double click it and goto methods tab. Here you can find the method CONVERT_CONTEXT_TO_UI, this method will be triggered twice. Search for the code "CALL METHOD lo_nd_t_cells->get_static_attributes_table", this is the method which defaults the "Note" based on the row and column iid. You can overwrite the code by writing the implicit enhancement.

After setting the Indexes using Java Embedding for a process, can you please tell me how to search the indexes in 11g Enterprise Manager Console for the particular process.In 10g BPEL Console we have the option of searching the Instances based on Indexes we already set at process level which is inbuilt in 10g. I need the same in 11g .

Hi Sagar,
You can define composite sensors in your composite.
Then you will get fields in enterprise manager of that composite instance.(the sensors you have defined will be displayed here)
You can enter the values based on what you want to search the instance. :)

I would like to make sure how to create the SWF file which are included surrogate pairs.
The error of outside the scope of unicode occurred when I compiled(mxmlc) the as file which was set surrogate pairs to 'Unicoderange'.
Ex, I set the ' '(UTF-16 is '20B9F') to 'Unicoderange'.
However, I cannot add the surrogate pairs.
The error of outside the scope of Unicode occurred when I compiled the AS file.
The reason of error was that the Unicode(UTF-16) of surrogate pairs is invalid.
Then, I read the following pages.
These pages are written that unicode-range supported surrogate pairs.

I've been able to create project jar files in Eclipse by selecting Export from the File menu, then choose Java - Jar file - and provide the required information, name, destination folder etc. But when I do this, I do not export other jars on the build path this way nor do I expect to do this. I am only concerned with creating a jar file of my own work. A jar file does not "contain" other jar files. If the jar file contains the main method, and requires other jars for it's execution, then you may wish to include a reference to required jars on the class path entry of the Manifest file of the jar file you create. I'm not sure how to create a Manifest file in eclipse though..

How to get the index of selected values in SelectManyChoice... the value which i get is coming when i submit the value second time

By using the given code i get the value of the selected indices, but problem here is i get the value when it get submits at the second time... First time the length of that int array is 0.
Second time it shows the value two times (i.e) First time submitted value and the second time submitted value. After that it works fine.. I have problem while clicking first time only..

The problem is that the control doesn't reach the try statement and I get " File not written" on the console because it enters catch everytime..Please tell me how the path to the directory should be given...Rest of the code is working fine

No, the problem is that when an Exception is thrown, you ignore it completely and throw away all the information associated with it. That leaves you to guess at what the problem is. So instead of answering your guess at a good question, I'm going to suggest that in all of your catch blocks you put this code:e.printStackTrace();Then you can look at the output in the log file and see what the problem is. Start from there.
