How to clear a default condition / parameter value in a Discoverer Viewer ?

Hi there,
Appreciate if anyone can help with what I am trying to do below in Discoverer10g:-
1. In Desktop we created a workbook with a parameter and we set the default value of the parameter as '%%'. This is so that all values are selected for that parameter unless the user over-writes it by picking values from the LOV.
2. When we run the workbook in Desktop, and pick a value out of a LOV, the system automatically remove the '%%' and substituted with the values picked from the LOV. This is working well.
3. However, when we published the workbook to our Disco Viewer users, on the parameter screen, when a user picks values out of the LOV, the system DOES NOT remove the '%%' automatically, and appends the picked values to the list. Of course this makes the report select all values for that parameter.
4. To resolve the problem, the Viewer user has to manually remove the default '%%' before picking values out of the LOV. Often they forget to do that and trust the value reported on the worksheet.
5. We believe some sort of a "REPLACE '%' with BLANK" function on clicking the "Move" button will remove the '%%' values when we pick values from LOV in the parameter screen. But we do not know how to do this.
If anyone has successfully done the above and share his experience, that will be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi there,
Thanks for your feedback.
Our workbooks mostly have muitii-item parameters where the users can pick more than one value.
I have created a test workbook in Desktop with a mutil-value parameter. After picking up multiple values from the LOV, the '%%' default automatically get sover-written.
I shared this same workbook to a Viewer user.
In Viewer, after picking multiple values from the left window and clicking the [Move] button, the '%%' value stays. Wonder if anything can be done to remove the '%%' in Viewer after the user has picked a value and the [Move] button is clicked.
Further help / comments appreciated.
Thanks again for your help.

    Gurus,
    Can any body explain me how to do following setting,
    How to Stop non statistical condition type value from updating Total Amount
    Regards,
    Sai

    Dear Sai,
    You need to make that condition type as Statistical one
    Go to SPRO - Sales and Distr. - Basic Functions - Pricing - Define and Assign Pricing Proc - Maintain Pricing Proc - Control Date
    Select the proc. - select the condition type and activate the  check box Statistical
    This will show the amount of the condition but will not consider for the net value calculation
    Hope this will help you

  • Default method parameter values

    I really, really think that they should incorporate default method parameter values in the next major release.
    It is time-consuming, obstructing and confusing to have methods with 1...n parameters.
    I.e.
    public void doStuff(int id)
        doStuff(id,"",false,Collections.EMPTY_LIST, new Date());
    public void doStuff(int id, String name)
    doStuff(id,name,false,Collections.EMPTY_LIST, new Date());
    public void doStuff(int id, String name, boolean sort)
    doStuff(id,name,sort,Collections.EMPTY_LIST, new Date());
    public void doStuff(int id, String name, boolean sort, List values)
    doStuff(id,name,sort,values, new Date());
    public void doStuff(int id, String name, boolean sort, List values, Date date)
    doStuff(id,name,sort,values, date);
    }Not to mention the amount of JavaDoc-tags it requires.
    Wouldn't it just be simpler, more understandable and easier to have it as:
    public void doStuff(int id, String name : "", boolean sort : false, List values : Collections.EMPTY_LIST, Date date : new Date())
        //Do the stuff here
    }Suggestions?

    I agree that getting default method parameter values implemented will be a good thing.
    If you really have a large number of methods (>5) that usally just add a parameter with a default value, you could introduce a "Parameter Object" that contains the defaults for the parameters. The drawback is of course an extra indirection to get to the parameter.
    class MyParameterClass() {
      String name = "";
      boolean sort = false;
      List values = Collections.EMPTY_LIST;
      Date date = new Date();
    myMethod(String arga, String argb) {
       return myMethod(arga, argb, new MyParameterClass());
    myMethod(String arga, String argb, MyParameterClass params) {
    }arga and argb are there to illustrate you might have parameters you don't have defaults for. (Yes, you could include them in the constructor of MyParameterClass instead.)

  • How to clear alert when a null value is returned for a metric column?

    Hey all,
    Recently, I've encountered a problem about clearing alert when a null value is returned for a metric column. From Oracle official doc, it seems that NO_CLEAR_ON_NULL could be used for this propose. However, it doesn't.
    Here is the line from doc, you can see when NO_CLEAR_ON_NULL is set as FALSE, the null value will clear alert, and the default value for NO_CLEAR_ON_NULL is FALSE.
    NO_CLEAR_ON_NULL: This attribute is used to control severity clearing when a null value is returned for a metric column. It defaults to FALSE with the behavior that a null value ends up clearing previous alert severities. With a TRUE value for this attribute, null values will be skipped in severity evaluations without clearing the severity.
    TRUE | FALSE (default)
    STATELESS_ALERTS: This attribute if set to TRUE indicates to EM that alerts on this
    column will not have corresponding clears. This allows the UI to decide whether to
    allow users to manually clear alerts on this column.
    TRUE | FALSE (default)Here is my code for the metric,

    WARNING. Do not confuse SQL*Plus with PL/SQL.
    There is no variable command in PL/SQL. PL/SQL does support the boolean data type.
    There is a variable command in SQL*Plus. It allows one to define bind variables. It is limited in the data types it supports. It does not support boolean as a bind variable type.
    SQL*Plus is a CLI (Command Line Interface) client tool. It has a very limited vocabularly, allowing you to (primarily):
    a) configure its local environment (e.g. size of the terminal ito number of characters per lines)
    b) configure its bevahiour (e.g. spooling data to a file)
    c) defining substitution and bind variables
    And that's it. It is not PL/SQL. It is not SQL. It takes the PL/SQL and SQL you enter, and submit that to the Oracle server. (it does some basic parsing of the data to substitute variables and bind variables where applicable)
    Do not confuse this CLI client tool with the server side PL/SQL or SQL languages.

  • How can I show Search Form parameter values in URI of Results page?

    I have searched through these pages for posts relating to caching but haven't seen any that relate to my issue.
    We run a website that accesses data through search forms and returns matching data to the requester in a results page. The search criteria are entered in a form and the results page is generated by a servlet that gets the search parameter values that the user entered using the GET method.
    I would like rewrite this Search page using JDeveloper to bring our old code up to date and take advantage of new features that should help performance. In particular, I want to utilise the WebCache.
    To use the WebCache effectively, the cache needs to know what the search criteria were when it delivers a page so that repeated requests using the same criteria can be served directly from the cache.
    The data retrieved by a query may change from one search to to the next so I can't use time-based caching. But, I can use the WebCache Invalidation interface from the back-end DB server to flush old data out of the WebCache when it is changed, but to flush out the correct pages I need to know the parameter values passed.
    If I just follow the demos, it seems like the search parameters are all hidden in beans or something which means that the Web Cache can't be used for what I want. The parameter values are important.
    So my question is: is there a way of showing the search parameters used in the URI to the Results page? Can the old GET method of parameter passing be used (or can I somehow just put the old style parameters onto the URI?)
    Alternatively, is there a simple How To or Demo on how to use the Web Caching facility with JSF?
    (ADF Caching and Java Object caching do not seem appropriate for my needs. ADF caching seems to be limited to having fragments cached for fixed periods of time and Java Object caching is orders of magnitude slower and involves the Application Server.)
    Thanks for any advice,
    Andy

    Sorry - should have said I'm using JDev 10.1.3.0.4 with JSF & ADF BC.

  • How to clear only blocks which have values

    Hi there,
    Is there anyone knows how to clear data from blocks which only have values ? so the idea, i dont have to create any new block by using something like set a block to be #MI ?
    Please advice. Thanks a lot

    From Technical Reference
    The CLEARDATA command clears a well-defined section of a database's cells and changes the values of those cells to #MISSING values. This command is useful when you need to clear existing data values before loading new values into a database. CLEARDATA can only clear a section of a database. It cannot clear the entire database.

  • How to pass a 'one of' parameter value to a sub-report

    I'm using CRXI.
    If I have a parameter which is a 'one of', what are my options for passing the values of that parameter to a subreport?
    Specifically I would like to know:
    Is this a good solution: convert the 'one of' parameter to multiple formulas(one forumula for each of the possible values), and then link the subreport to the main report on each of those values?

    Thanks for responding, but I dont think you understood my question.
    Let me ask the question again a little differently, here are my assumptions, maybe they are incorrect.
    1. Parameters are passed to sub reprots by setting the parameter equal to a forumla, and then linking the sub report to main report through the formula.
    2. If the Parameter is a 'one of' (ie can be multiple values), it can only be set equal to a forumula if you make the forumula an array.
    3. You cant link a sub report to a main report on two formulas which are arrays.
    4.Therefore how do you handle this situation?

  • How do I edit a table cell value in the same view?

    This is probably just a clarification more than a question, but when looking at the iPhone->Settings->Mail,Contacts,Calenders view. If you select a mail account, you are taken to the account edit view where you can edit your account information.
    In this particular example, there is a 4 row grouped table section, with headers like "Name", "Address", "Password" and "Description".
    I am trying to duplicate this method of data entry where I don't have the user select the cell and get navigated to a new screen, but rather just pop up the appropriate keyboard, and allow them to edit within the cells within the same view.
    Currently, the only implementation that seems to make sense is to add a UITextField to the cell, and when the user selects, it will allow them to duplicate this behavior. It seems like there's an easier way to do this, but just not finding it.
    it seems like SetEditing deals more with deleting, adding and reordering...not actually editing data within the cells.
    Anyways, if there are any tips/tutorials/etc to look at, much appreciated!

    i do that. but the new window doesnt open a folder in the same path location

    @Max : The above hack seem to work fine unless you assign a  'DEFAULT' value to the selection fields.
    @OP   : Here is an other work around,  however, this approach needs an additional effort to create
        new PF-STATUS('MYLIST') and assign a function code of your choice to the function keys in the standard toolbar and handle them in the 'AT USER-COMMAND'   event as shown below. Let us know if you have/find any issues with this.
    PARAMETERS:
      p_test TYPE char5 DEFAULT '123'.
    AT USER-COMMAND.
      CASE syst-ucomm.
        WHEN 'MBACK'.
          SUBMIT zytest WITH p_test = '' VIA SELECTION-SCREEN.
      ENDCASE.
