How to compile kernel-eeepc with squash support?

What i have to change to this package from aur (kernel-eeepc - http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=26392) for having aufs/squashfs support?

Because there's lotsa compilation fails caused by the giflib API changing.

That's what you think.  I have a lot of brain storms when I've had a few (not all 12).
And my parents are passed.  So I guess I need to ask my wife for a hug (however, she is at work).
I want a hug now, not after 6pm.
Anyway, I think, that you can move the panel if you uncheck the "lock panel" option. I just accidentally figured that out. Should have known the answer was something simple
I did un-check the 'lock panel' box, and couldn't move that top bar (upon using the default).
So as a I said, I removed both of the newly created panels, and redid them from scratch.

  • How to compile DNG SDK with GCC?

I tried to compile DNG SDK with GCC, but I got stuck to the following error message:
... dng_flags.h:33:28: error: RawEnvironment.h: No such file or directory ...
In other words, it seems that file 'RawEnvironment.h' is missing. I cannot find this file from DNG SDK or XMP SDK. Do you know where I could find this file or do you know how to compile DNG SDK with GCC?
    Regards Sami

Please define either qMacOS or qWinOS (i.e., in your list of preprocessor defines). As you can see in line 32 of dng_flags.h this is required.

Typically, how many times does one have to go back and forth with Creative Support before they acknowledge an issue or question?
    This is ridiculous.

    They will not answer me.
All of my testing indicates that there is not a 64-bit ASIO driver for Vista, but they will not confirm or deny.

dRe: Typically, How many back and forths with Creative Support before they acknowledge your question?U I don't know what Creative would have written if you asked SUpport these days?
I assume, they lied when they wrote this. There are several walkarounds for XFI cards
with beta drivers. In releas drivers they exclude the ASIOx64, but in beta it's included!
Creative has a very awkward marketing strategy. This was with Vista not having EAX on Audigy as
the said it is impossible. The newer X-FI was able to?do it and after a few weeks the Audigy also could-
after paying for it. The same with DolbyDigital Li've... and now with x64 ASIO. They reduce features
in cases the cheaper card had same possibilities as the more expensi've EMUs...
Shame on them. I?baught a creative Card for the 4th time (SB, SB AWE32,Audigy2, and now Titanium).

  • [SOLVED]Compiling kernel fails with segfault

    Hi guys,
    I'm out of answers.
    The situation :
Compiling kernel randomly stops with : "segmentation fault" and never runs through.
Reissuing make will make it continue until it will fail at some other point.
    Background:
The system feels completely unstable to say the least, but nothing 100 % reproduceable ( vuze(java) crash, firefox/chromuim flash sites crash every 120 seconds, X crashes once a day , for instance when moving tvtime around, kernel oops daily, sometimes hard lockups, logs of yesterdays oops : http://pastie.org/private/imrqdzdbejdb3jxn4czuw )
But only the kernel compile is 100 % reproduceable so this must be fixed asap.
    Specs:
    intel e8400,nvidia gtx260, 2 G ddr2,Gigabyte EP45-UD3R, "gigs of space", off. arch kernel 2.6.33-ARCH , x86_64,  "bigtime" cooling :
cpu temps 50 C° max  during compiling
What configs/packages are important ? I got paranoid and ditched my old makgepkg.conf and used a newer *.pacnew file , I used to have  :MAKEFLAGS="-j3" but not in this config :
    http://pastie.org/private/4ryshivi2hgyqenjlkicg
    local packages:
    local/gcc 4.5.0-1 (base-devel)
        The GNU Compiler Collection
    local/gcc-libs 4.5.0-1 (base)
Runtime libraries shipped by GCC for C and C++ languages
    Anything else updated daily.
    The blowup:
    http://pastie.org/private/hoamev0sli7zapbr0xvpbq
    What I tried:
fsck -f: it fixed two inodes, but still the same behavior
badblocks -nvs : three hours of badblock testing, 0 hits
memtest : two passed runs, no errors
stress from AUR, 15 minutes :
    stress --cpu 8 --io 4 --vm 2 --vm-bytes 128M --timeout 15m
stress: info: [26841] dispatching hogs: 8 cpu, 4 io, 2 vm, 0 hdd
stress: info: [26841] successful run completed in 900s
Max coretemp was 52 C° during stress.
The usual footnote statement ^_^ :
    On w7 _everything_ runs stable.
And not only stable , I'm able to OC this box to 4.5 GHz and game under w7 without a prop for hours, well this is what it was build for at some point.
    Conclusion:
So I'd say hardware wise this box kicks ass and now software wise my Arch kicks me in the a**.
I doubt there is a faulty hardware part, but what else could it be ?

    Update:
Trying to compile another big package just to have another result, gcc itself now :
    - segfault after 4 m18 s
    - segfault after 5 m50 s
    Update²:
I think I found a faulty BIOS setting in my non-OC profile concerning DRAM termination, which said "normal" where "auto" would be correct.
My OC-profile has this setting correct and since I run this profile in Arch only it might explain that w7 did not fail.
Still have to verify this but i makes perfect sense, only gcc seems to trigger this. Compiling gcc still running with over 10 minutes in the game now.
After hitting 4.5 GHz with OC I must have reset the non OC-profile wrong.

Actually, i have three classes under the package named
as linklist. Okay, so you have the package statement at the top of each class, right?
And the 3 classes reside in a folder named linklist?
Okay, if you do, while in the folder above linklist, do:
javac linklist/*.java (using the appropriate slash)
    Did it work?

  • Compiling fvwm-patched with XFT support

I'm pretty new to Linux. Only spent 2 weeks playing with a minimal Ubuntu install before jumping over to Arch a couple months ago.
I'm compiling/installing fvwm-patched from the AUR. I'm using yaourt and I'm even editing the PKGBUILD to use the latest fvwm source, and dropping a patch that is no longer needed due to changes in fvwm itself. The problem is the resulting compiled fvwm doesn't have XFT font support.
I found this in an FAQ:
cf13. I compiled FVWM from source, and now none of my XFT fonts are working. They work fine under other window managers.
You're an idiot. You probably didn't compile in XFT support. FVWM needs this to render XFT fonts. If the command:
    fvwm --version | sed -n 2p
... doesn't have "XFT" listed in its options, then install the XFT header files (libxft-dev, if you're on Debian) and recompile FVWM.
I'm not sure how to get these xft header files on Arch. I already have libxft installed and I can't find anything in packages or AUR that looks the equivalent of libxft-dev.
Anyone know which direction to point me in?
    Cheers.

As far as I understand it fvwm-devel is a regular package (not from AUR) and is thus pre-compiled and has XFT support. (yes it works)
The patches work fine as far as I can tell. I'm not having any issues with them. I'm just not sure where to get the "xft header files" mentioned in the FAQ I quoted.

    He Peter,
Thanks for your reply. I've made some steps, but still no perfect solution. I've managed to compile a swf with ant using only the AIR SDK.
    But, check these results
    - Compiled using Flash Builder release : 455 kb
    - Compiled with ant using mxmlc : 104 kb
    - Compiled with ant using compc : 139 kb
Can you provide us an example, how to compile a swf using ant. For example, with an AIR mobile project.
    Thanks Peter.

  • OpenSSH 4.4p1 packages with PAM support for Solaris 9, 10

As mentioned in a previous post* , I've compiled OpenSSH packages with PAM support for Solaris 9 and 10. They've since been updated to version 4.4p1, and are compiled against a static zlib (1.2.3) and OpenSSL (0.9.8c). You can find them here:

    * http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=103378&tstart=105

Yes, zlib 1.2.3 is a requirement. In facts, zlib mentions a 2005 vulnerability fix but I found no matching patch in sunsolve. See
    http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/JGEI-6E7RC3
I have been wandering whether to replace the official zlib. Linking statically is probably a better idea. Thanks

  • Vanilla kernel with suspend2 support

    Hey people,
I have started using the beyond kernel a while ago, because I wanted a precompiled arch kernel with suspend2 support. I used self-compiled vanilla+suspend2 kernels for a while before that, and they were very stable. With beyond, I first got strange bugs, hard to reproduce, suspending or resuming sometimes failed, and the newest version doesn't work at all.
Just for some testing, I compiled a kernel with the same config and patches as kernel26 AND suspend2 patches included. It seems to work great, much stabler than beyond when suspending.
What I am asking is, how many people would be interested if such a kernel would be maintained in community and what kernel modules they would need (I am planning to do rt2500, rt2x00, nvidia and maybe ATI, more if requested).
Please only submit your vote to the poll if you are either a suspend2 user or interested in using suspend2

Can you give me your definition of "at the moment" please? Or better, name a beyond release where suspend2 was stable. I switched to beyond with 2.6.16 and since then it was always unusable for me. With a vanilla kernel, suspend2 hasn't failed for me in a year or so. With beyond, it failed every time I really needed it.
Admittedly suspend2 may be _generally_ unstable with other patchsets but even still, it'll only take one bulletproof release to invalidate all you are suggesting.
I won't spend the rest of my life waiting for the beyond release that will work. I'd rather do something about it and provide a kernel that is stable and has that very important feature. (And as tpowa wasn't willing to include suspend2 in kernel26 when I asked him, this is the best shot).
Awesome -  I dont think I could have said it in better words - however I did try above >
I have tried many patchsets that had suspend2=swap patches but the never worked or not as well as a vanilla kernel with just suspend2-swap patch.
    Lets do it.

  • How to compile a kernel module without recompiling the whole kernel?

    Hi,
I'm pretty sure my question is a bit newbish, still I haven't been able to found any information/solution to my problem in 3days.
The kernel I use doesn't come with the module I need for my hardware and I would like to know if there's a way to compile it without having to make a new kernel myself (since compiling the kernel takes ages on my machine).
Even if your answer is a "Let me Google that for you", I'm so desperate that I'll be happy to see it.
Thank you all in advance for your answers!

Do you have a /proc/config.gz that you could use? Otherwise I don't know. I mean, many modules should be compilable simply with the system-installed kernel headers, but not all native modules might follow that rule.
Unfortunatel most of what you find on the web talks about how to create new modules which can be compild against the installed kernel tree, not about how to compile one of the native kernel modules against it.
Actually, try what those links suggest.
Skip the configuration part, and just do:
    make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=$(PWD)/drivers/video modules
    (maybe `make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=$(PWD)/drivers/video clean` first )
EDIT: Meh, that uses your config and won't build that driver... there must be some way though
    EDIT2: Try:
    make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=$(PWD)/drivers/video modules CONFIG_FB_VT8623=m CONFIG_FB_SVGALIB=m
The problem though is, that they might have removed some of the dependencies of the module, so if it doesn't compile, you'll have to recompile the kernel.
Good thing is though, you can use their .config as base (found in /usr/src/linux-..../.config)
You can also check if your config "supports" your module by putting it into the kernel source tree, running `make menuconfig` and typing /8623 and pressing enter.
The last line in that screen should read:
    Selects: <list of options>
As long as all of those options are either =y or =m, you're good. SVGALIB can be =n because it's part of drivers/video/ and you can compile it together with  your module.

  • Kaffeine embedded crash fixed when compiled with libxcb support?

    From kaffeine website:
    Embedded Kaffeine crash fixed.
This long standing bug is now fixed in current svn ...
In order to make it possible, we have ported Kaffeine and xine to xcb (a thread-safe replacement for xlib).
You can give it a try right now:
    1) install libxcb=>1.0
    2) install current xine-lib cvs (it contains xcb based video output plugins: xshm and xv)
    2) install current Kaffeine svn
    Notes
    a) Both xine-lib and Kaffeine have to be compiled with xcb support (autodetected, check configure results).
    b) Kaffeine will still work with xlib based video out plugins if compiled without xcb (but then, no fix!)
    From 0.8.4 changelog:
    * xine-part: support for xcb. Requires libxcb 1.0 and xine-lib 1.1.5. Fixes several issues.
Any reason not to incorporate this? If it lives up to it's promises It could mean kde users only need ONE media player :-)  (I have 2 installed just to get DVD menus and embedding in konqueror without crashing)
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    Steve.

I felt that the laptop was possibly overheating and that is why I started down the road to call "customer support", thinking that a fan went out or there was damage to hardware due to it over heating.  And that road got me no where in a fast manner, and two "techs" telling me it was a software related issue and that I needed to reformat the laptop (twice) and re-install to factory settings.  Even when I did this, it still had the issue and they again told me that it was software related when there was no software on the computer except for Windows 7.  The only thing that customer support helped me with is the knowledge of next time I buy a laptop, but Dell or any other laptop besides a Toshiba.  That is too bad.
Anyway, I tried to continue on with my thinking of a possible over heating issue, so I blew air into the vents and fins of the laptop.  A lot of dust came out.  I kept blowing air into the vents until no more dust came.
My wife had to re-install everything again to her laptop after I got the major items re-installed.  She has been running it for the last day or so with no issues.  We hope that this was the issue.  I know she enjoys the laptop when it was running well.
I guess we will see how it goes.
