How to copy a diagonal line segment?

If I do Transform, Move, 40 40 40 0 Copy it seems to just make another line segment on top of the one I already have.
I want to copy it down and to the right continually pressing CTRL+D.
I think I am making a simple mistake since I have done this before.

Down and to the right moving 40 both ways should be just 40 (Horizontal) and -40 (Vertical), then Copy.
Ctrl+D to repeat copying down and to the right.

If this is what you want, hold the ~ key on your keyboard while dragging with the tool.
If you want spaced copies of the completed line, use the Transform Effects from the Effects menu.

How do you connect two line segments in illustrator cs6?

I have been using adobe cs5 for a few years. If I wanted to connect the corners of two line segments, you would select the first line segment with the select tool, then switch to the direct selection tool, and drag the anchor point to the other line segment anchor point till the cursor arrow went white (signifying the other anchor point being recognized). Then you would choose "join" and it would give a nice right angle connecting the two line segments.
With adobe cs6, the direct selection tool doesn't change to white when you go over the other line segment anchor point. Why is this?
(Unfortunately my screen capture doesn't show the black arrowhead that you see when you are dragging with the direct selection tool to the other line segment.)
I have also attached a youtube video link that shows what how this recognition of anchor points looks in adobe illustrator cs5, and this was exactly what I used to do when I was performing the task shown in my screen capture but with adobe illustrator cs5. Thanks and sorry for the essay!

I nearly always start an angled illustration element on the horizontal or vertical grid, and Free Transfor the angle after.
If you need several lines then I would tend to use Free Transform step and repeat.
Show Grid and check that snap to grid is enabled.
Select Line tool and set thickness
Draw line in line with the grid
Free Transform, and move line to the required spacing using the grid as a guide. Press Enter
Ctrl Alt Shift t (or Cmd Opt Shift t) as many times as you need lines
I would probably make them too long, and trim after any rotation or aother adjustments had been made.
I don't have or use Illustrator.

Combining Line Segments into a single shape

I drew one half of a shape by drawing multiple line segments using the arc tool. Think of the shape as sort of a C. Once I had the shape the way I wanted it, I copied and reflected it to give me the other half, so now it looks sort of like an O. However, when I go to fill the shape, I get all sort of weird fills, like it is trying to close each of the individual arcs that I drew.
I have spent over an hour going through Illustrators help and searching the internet, but I can't figure out how to join all these line segments into a single shape that I can then apply a fill to. I'm sure this is easy, but I'm frustrated.

Thanks Kurt. That did it. My gosh, I would never have thought of looking for something like that. I upgrade to CS3 sometime ago, but hadn't used illustrator much since I upgraded.

Gap between line segments

How do I set two line segments apart (at suppose 12%) of it's length no matter how large or small i resize the two line segments, sort of like the settings in ChemBioDraw 13.0 for anyone who have used this software ? For anyone with experience in ChemBioDraw 13.0 you can look into the draw settings and it will say how far apart the two lines in the double bond is, line width etc..etc.. Any ideas ? Thanks !

When you use Effect>Distort & Transform>Transform>Move a copy, you still have just one line with a copy line at a certain horizontal distance from it, and that line will disappear if you click Reduce to Basic Appearance in ther Appearance palette/panel, and misbehave if you rotate; also, the original line will be what you are moving.
When you Object>Expand Appearance, you will have two independent lines/objects instead.
You may select and Group ((Ctrl/Cmd+G) whatever you wish to reuse, then copy and reuse as a unit, or even turn it into a Symbol.
With the suggestion of using an Art Brush, you actually create such a unit for the double bond itself; I suggested that because you mentioned the wish to keep the proportions. You could also create the two lines as desired and group them; you should be aware that If you wish to change the size, you will have to tick Scale Strokes & Effects if you wish to keep all the proportions.
Groups can form part of groups, so you can assemble building blocks (such as double bonds) into more complex bonds (such as molecules).
Made as an Art Brush or as a Group, when you select the double bond, you will operate it by the centre between the two lines (presuming you have the Centre Reference Point selected in the Transform palette/Panel), with the effect you will operate it by the centre of the original path, which will be off.

3d graph line segment

I'm trying to find a way to draw a series of x,y,z points to a 3d graph with each point linked to the last with a line segment. I have been successfull in plotting a series of points to the 3d graph indicator in LabView but I cannot figure out how to connect them with line segments ... does anyone know how this might be done? When the cwlinepoint property is activated the graph draws a line from each point to each point which is not what I'm trying to do ... the code I have written is extremely basic ... three 1d arrays each containing number set (one array with x coordinates, one array with y coords, ect.) these are then passed to the CWGraph3D invoke node ... then the points are plotted to the 3d graph as just points ... which is somewhat usable for what I am trying to do but I was surprised to find out that such a functionality was not already built in to LabView. I thought that there would have been a relatively easy way to do it but I have not been able to find it on my own, so I thought I would put it out there and see if others had already figured it out. My search of the forum yeilded nothing. Again your help is greatly appreciated unclebump!!! Find attached code. Was written in Labview 7.1 but should be usable in 7.0 I think.

You can use image to display diagonal lines (make sure you use .png format so that background remains transparent). Now on top of that use transparent toggle button or push button for alerts or populating values (what ever you want). This will give you the functionality you might be looking for.

Don't access the artboard. With the grid tool active click on the documents background called the artboard. A dialog box will pop up allowing you to disable the outside stroke of the grid and set it spacing and number of lines.

This seems like a silly question but does anyone know how to draw a diagonal line that has on-click functionality to input data as well as value based alerts? Raw xcelsius seems to only come with horizontal and vertical lines. I tried using Innovista's enhanced line component but it doesn't function correctly (visibility doesn't work) and there aren't any alerts. The reason I need diagonal lines is because I am attempting to create a very simple display where nodes are laid over a map with lines connecting them together. Each of the nodes reflects the health of that node, and the lines reflect the health of each connection. Any ideas?

How 2 Copy Header & Line Item Text from Purchase Order 2 Out Bound Delivery

Hi SD Gurus,
I want to copy header and line item text from Purchase Order to Out Bound Delivery (This is required in Stock Transfer Process).
I have been able to do successful config. for copying header and line item text from Sales Order to Outbound Delivery but config. doesn't seems to be same for copying text from PO to OBD.
Is there any way to achieve the same? Can some expert show the way to achieve this.

I have seen some PO's which have info rec texts in that, which gets pulled by the above code...first thing is its id is F02 which exist in STXH table also there is other text with F01 id, and hence the table it_itab gets both these text hence no pbm.
but i came across a PO which has only one text which is info rec text with id F05 and is not store in stxh and hence doesnot get pulled by read_text fm. How do i change my cod to get this text which should not hamper other PO's as well.
As mentioned in above msgs, this F05 could be retrieved by providing object name as EINE.

In most cases you can just select the text and copy/paste. You can do that unless the file is a picture/scan.

as u have the dimension of the box..so create a box in paint as bmp.....with digonals as u required.....
upload this image thru SE78...and call it in ur script.......
and superimpose that graphic on the text box....
