Dear Arun,
A MultiProvider is a type of InfoProvider that combines data from a number of InfoProviders and makes it available for reporting purposes.The MultiProvider does not itself contain any data. Its data comes entirely from the InfoProviders on which it is based. These InfoProviders are connected to one another by a union operation. A union operation is used to combine the data from these objects into a MultiProvider. Here, the system constructs the union set of the data sets involved. In other words, all values of these data sets are combined.

    Hi Arun,
    MultiProvider is a special InfoProvider which combine data from several InfoProviders for its own reporting, without actually holding any physical data itself (i.e. its data comes exclusively from the InfoProviders on which it is based), then, it can only use an InfoProvider that is ready and available for reporting, in which case, the Transactional ODS object is not one of them. Therefore, to include a Transactional ODS object in a MultiProvider, you would have to first define an Infoset for the Transactional ODS object.
    A MultiProvider can be made of of various combinations of the following InfoProviders:
    1. InfoCubes
    2. ODS Objects (Standard only)
    3. InfoObjects
    4. InfoSets
    You can start by creating a multiprovider by right clicking the Infoarea and choosing the create multiprovider option. Creating a multiprovider is similar to creating a cube as you need to choose chars and KF from the base objects and then assign the dimensions. The additional steps to do are configure the Identification (for chars) and Selection ( for KF) screens.

    Go to the infoarea you want and right click and click create a Multiprovider.
    In the deifiniton of MP, choos ethe two infocubes you want to add and continue.
    Choose the dimensions you want to include in your MP.
    Add the characteristics you want to include in the dimensions.
    Add key figures.
    Then identify which cube the characateristics and keyfigures should come from and activate.

    You can check if there is a log when creating virtual machines. Hyper-V event logs are stored in the Event Viewer under "Applications and Services Logs", "Microsoft", "Windows". If yes, you can create a event rule monitor for that.

    Hi,
    1. Create an InfoArea to which you want to assign the new MultiProvider.
    2.  Choose Modeling  InfoProvider.
    3.   In the context menu of the InfoArea, choose Create MultiProvider.
    4.   Enter a technical name and a description.
    5.  Choose  Create.
    6.   Select the InfoProvider that you want to form the MultiProvider. Choose  Continue. The MultiProvider screen appears.
    7.  Use drag and drop to transfer the required InfoObjects into your MultiProvider. You can also transfer entire dimensions.
    8.  Use Identify Characteristics and Select Key Figures to make InfoObject assignments between MultiProviders and InfoProviders.
    In a MultiProvider, each InfoObject in the MultiProvider must correspond to exactly one InfoObject in each of the InfoProviders involved (as long as it is available in the MultiProvider). If this mapping is not clear, you have to specify the InfoObject to which you want to assign the InfoObject in the MultiProvider.
    9.  Save or Activate the MultiProvider. Only active MultiProviders are available for analysis and reporting.

    I have a requirement to restrict a particular Web templated in bw 3.5 So that all the end users should not be able to access that template only a particular user should be allowed to view the template?
    I cant find any authorization object for the WAD template in bw 3.5 ?
    Can anyone tell me the procedure to include the WAD template authorization?
    Should i include the authorization template in the Menu - in pfcg??? . i have added the template in the Menu in the PFCG but still it didnt work.

    As you said, the authorizations for the WAD templates should be given in PFCG roles.
    But you have to include the access/authorization details in the authorization objects. WAD templates have been created with including info/multiprovider, info cubes right.. first you have to include these objects inside the Role in PFCG.
    S_RS_COMP,S_RS_COMP1,S_RS_MPRO,S_RS_ICUBE.
    just assigning WAD template in the menu of the roles is to display when you login with the userid.
    Please request your BASIS folks to do the same.

    Following scenario for  sample for slow moving items for multiproviders.
    Slow Moving Item Scenario
    You want to define a query that displays all products that have been purchased only
    infrequently or not at all. In other words, the query is also display characteristic values for
    which no transaction data or only low values exist for the selected period.
    Procedure
    In the Administrator Workbench;
    1. Create a MultiProvider consisting of a revenue InfoCube, containing the InfoObject
    Material (0MATERIAL), and the InfoObject 0MATERIAL. The InfoObject must be set as
    an InfoProvider in InfoObject maintenance. In other words, you need to have assigned
    the InfoObject to an InfoArea. (also refer to Tab Page: Master Data/texts [Ext.]).
    In the BEx Analyzer:
    2. Select your MultiProvider in the Query Designer.
    3. Define a query that contains the InfoObject 1ROWCOUNT in the columns.
    The InfoObject 1ROWCOUNT is contained in all “flat” InfoProviders, that is, in all
    InfoObjects and ODS objects. It counts the number of records in the InfoProvider.
    In this scenario, you can see from the row number display whether or nor values
    from the InfoProvider InfoObject are really displayed.
    4. Save the query and execute it. All values are now displayed, including those for materials
    that were not purchased.
    If you filter by time (0CALYEAR, for example), values from the InfoProvider
    InfoObjects are not displayed since 0CALYEAR is not an attribute of
    0MATERIAL. You can see this from the absence of values in the 1ROWCOUNT
    column in the query. If you want to restrict by time, you need to proceed as
    follows:
    Constant Selection for the InfoObject
    You need to set the constant selection for the 1ROWCOUNT key figure in order to be able to
    set a filter by time in this query.
    1. In the Query Designer, via the context menu for 1ROWCOUNT, choose Edit.
    2. On the left hand half of the screen, under the data package dimension, select the
    characteristic InfoProvider (0INFOPROV) and drag it into the right-hand screen area.
    3. From the context menu for the InfoProvider, choose Restrict, and restrict across the
    InfoProvider InfoObject.
    4. Also from the context menu for the InfoProvider, choose the function Constant Selection.
    5. Save the query and execute it. You can now also set a filter for a time characteristic, the
    materials display remains as it was.
    Displaying Slow Moving Items
    If you want to display a list of slow moving items, excluding products that are selling well, you
    need to proceed as follows:
    1. In the Query Designer, via the context menu for 1ROWCOUNT, choose Edit.
    2. Via the context menu for InfoProvider, choose the function Display Empty Values. Also
    select Constant Selection.
    3. Save the query and execute it. The result is that the system displays the materials for
    which there was no revenue.
    Displaying Products with Small Revenues
    If you want to display a list of products that have not been sold or have only been selling
    badly, you need to proceed as follows:
    1. Set constant selection as described above, but do not select the display empty values
    function.
    2. In the Query Designer, define a condition for the 0MATERIAL InfoObject. Specify a value
    that is to be the upper limit for a bad sale.
    3. Save the query and execute it. The result is that the system displays all materials that
    have not been sold or have been selling badly.

  • Can we add new cubes and ODS after creating the multiprovider?

    Hi all,
    i created a multiprovider on a cube and ODS. Now i needed one more charactersitic from other cube.then i did change multiprovider and then add that new cube and did the identification, and adjusted the query, when i ran the query it is showing chracteristic as #  and not assigned. I even tried bringing in 0infoprovider object to see whether data is coming from third infoprovider, it is not showing up any data from third one. i tried logging out of bex and logging back in.....but still no use..............i am wondering now, once a multiprovider is created can new infoprovider be added to it ?
    i am even able to see the new key figures and chracteristic in my query.but data  is not getting populated...i also checked and found that the data is available in the infoproviders....
    plz help me out..

    nice to see your answer, I saw a lot of helpful posts on SDN by you.
    I did the RSRT with debug multiprovider, it said,
    0FISCPER: General restriction for InfoProvider ZSD_C12 not possible
    Access to ZSD_C12 was excluded
    now i corrected it, it is populating the key figure now but not the chracteristic still.....the chracteristic is still getting value only from one of the info providers
    importantly, when i bring infoprovider above the keyfigures space on query, it still only shows two info providers for each key figure and  not the third one ,the key figure coming the third one is only shown in overall result. how can i solve this?
    i tried  rsr_gen_direct_all_queries as told by krian, but still cant get the data in the report. i did list cube on mulitiprovider and i see the data for that chracteristic there....
    are there any other options in RSRT to find possible setting faults....

  • Query created on Multiprovider

    Hi frnds,
    I created a multiprovider on two cubes and created a query in query designer on this multiprovider and executed the report.
    In the query output, the values from two cubes are displayed in two different lines.
    Suppose take a field, 0material.For this field, the values coming from one cube are displayed in one line and the values of this material coming from 2nd cube are displayed in next line. And that too if the 2nd cube doesnot have any value for this field 0material, it is displayig as '#' ( Not Assigned ).
    My requirement is:
    -->How to combine the records coming as 2 different records from 2 infocubes into a single record.
    -->If a field value is not coming then it should be left blank. It should not display '#'.
    Full points will be assigned.

    i'm merging Data from FI using Acc doc no & MM  using PO. the 1:1 relationship between both is already thr.
    but still i am getting two records
    CC    CO    PC      Amt      INV
    30      #      400     1000    
    30     300      #                 1000
    but i want to see this one line as both refer to the same transcation
    30     300     400     1000     1000  
    i tried using a infoset with inner join - here it is not picking many records
    infoset with outer join - here the output is same as above.
    can someone suggest a better way to do this ?

    Hi Friend,
    Creating Infoobjects
    1. Go to RSA1 -> Modelling tab.
    2. Click on Infobjects.
    3. Create a new Infoarea.
    4. Now create Infoobject Catalog for Characterstics and Key Figures.
    5. Now create Char Infoobject under Char Catalog and Key figure Infoobject under Key Figure catalog.
    Creating Cubes:
    1. Right click the info area and choose create info cube.
    2. Select the type of cube you wish to create and comnfirm your selections.
    3. The next screen is where you actually define the cube.
    4. Now you will notice the difference.
    5. Place your cursur on key fig and right click and chose infio object direct input; chose your key fig for the cube.
    6. Similarly for the dimension; right click the dimension and chose inbfo object direct input, chose your chars and out them in dimension.
    7. Activate the cube.
    Creating a ODS is also the same.(in step 1 choose create ODS)
    Creating Multicube/Multiprovider
    1. Right click the info area - chose create multi provider.
    2. select the cubes , DSOs, info objects that you need for the multi provider.
    3. On the right side of the screen, you will see all the objects that you selected and open the key fig and dimension and drag the ones you need to define the multi provider.
    4. Identify the chars and key figs.
    5. Acvitate the mullti provider.
    Why we create them ?
    Infobjects : They are fields in R/3. As we require fields in R/3 tables we require infoobjects in BI.
    ODS : This actually is like a table in R/3.
    Cube : This contain the Key figures.(e.g Sales quantity, Amount etc)

    I'm working on a CR 2008 Add-in.
    Usage of this add-in is: Let the user choose from a list of predefined datasets, and create a totally empty report with this dataset attached to is. So the user can create a report based on this dataset.
    I have a dataset in memory, and want to create a new report in cr2008.
    The new report is a blank report (with no connection information).
    If I set the ReportDocument.SetDataSource(Dataset dataSet) property, I get the error:
    The report has no tables.
    So I must programmatically define the table definition in my blank report.

  • How to create a group calendar?

    i am sorry but this is one more question on wiki-group-calendars.
    *In short:*
    I am not able to create a group calendar with the wiki frontend. the calendar that is created with a wiki is owned by the admin of the wiki. So it is always a personal calendar that cannot be shared in iCal.
    LONG:
    I want to create a group calendar that is viewed and edited through iCal.app and the web service. Apple´s "wiki deployment" guide says on page 57:
    +"The web calendar allows you to easily schedule events for yourself or your group. ...+
    +There are *two types of web calendars: personal and group*. You can send and receive event invitations through the personal calendar but not through the group calendar. Also, *while anyone in a group can create or edit events in a group calendar*, you can edit only events in your own personal calendar or event invitations you send to other people.+
    +The web calendar uses iCal Server to store events and invitations. ..."+
    But there is not mentioned how to create a group calendar. The calendar created with the wiki web-frontend belongs to the admin of that particular wiki. This is why the calendar data ist stored in folder named with the UUID of the wiki admin. Also the alias "http://server.fqdn:8008/principals/groups/mygroupname/" which i provided in iCal turns into ..._uids_UUID-of-the-wiki-admin and only the wiki-admin can access this calendar in iCal.app.
    My research on this topic reveals that there were in issue that should be resolved in 10.6.4 (that is running on our Server). So, again, how to create a group calendar?

    You said "you need to go to the wiki page and add the wiki's there...." What is the "wiki page" you mention? Is that some place I go to via the browser or the Server Admin tool?
    I went to http://ical.mysite.com/ical/ and logged in as the Directory Administrator but didn't see anything resembling what you described.

  • How to create a variant to a maintenance view (trans: SM31)

    Hi gurus.
    I have created a maintenance view (called z_jest). By running it from SM31 there is a variant option. However, I am not able to create the variant which I want to filter a selection upon in this transaction.
    I have even looked into transaction SE54 and created a variant for the maintenance table view there( called z_jestv). Then going back to transaction SM31 and view z_jest, i push 'Variant' radiobutton and type as variant: 'z_jestv', I only get the message: "Variant z_jestv for object z_jest does not exist".
    Can anybody please advice on how to create and/or connect the variant to the maintenance view?

    When I look into the procedure, there is a prerequisite: "The basis dialog for which the maintenance variant is created already exists."
    I am a little bit unsertain if I miss this 'Basic dialog'. Can you please advice on how to check / create this 'basic dialog' before I go on to create the variant. (I need this 'basic dialog' as input in the procedure you sent.)
    (Note: I have already created a 'maintenance dialog' for the view, but I have a feeling, that is something different...)
