How to create a variant for a selection screen button

hi ,
i have created a selection screen for a normal report .
In the selection screen there is one button after the selct option for company code. when user enters some company code and presses the button the user i call a able contraol in which user gives some additional values for the comapny code.
how do i create variant. when i create varaint for the slection screen it does not take into account the other screen i called .
so every time user has to click that button and enter some values and execute. please suggest some way.

Hi,
Inorder to create a variant for selection screen report, you need to enter valid data on the screen and click on the SAVE button which is available in the Menu.
And regarding the button you were asking about after select option, it is not created manually it comes automatically,, you can remove this by mentioning no-extension after the select-option. You can get clear information of this if you do F1 help on select-option.
My advice to you, make effect use of F1 help.

Follow these steps..
1. in SE38 enter Program name 'RSEIDOCB'.
2. Click on variants button
3. enter variant name click on create
4. in selection screen enter default values
5. Click on attributes
4. Enter meaning
5. Press Shft + F4
6. Bottom of Screen will popup invisible fields
7. go down to screen
8. select field and click on selection variables button
   (you to have to tick selection variable check box)
9. here click on down arrow button very next to field
10.you can choose values from list and assign to field.
then save variant.

CHECK BOX :
AS CHECKBOX [USER-COMMAND fcode]
Effect:
This addition specifies that the input field in the first position of the selection screen is displayed as a checkbox, with the corresponding description next to it on the right. The checkbox is selected if the value of para is "X" or r "x". Otherwise, it is not selected.
The parameter must be created with the type c and length 1. An explicit length len is not permitted. If the addition TYPE is used, this can only be followed by the generic type c or a non-generic data type of type c and length 1.
The addition USER-COMMAND can be used to assign a function code fcode to the parameter. The function code fcode must be directly specified and may have a maximum length of 20 characters. To evaluate the function code, an interface work area of the structure SSCRFIELDS from the ABAP Dictionary must be declared using the statement TABLES. When the user selects the checkbox on the selection screen, the runtime environment triggers the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN and transfers the function code fcode to the component ucomm of the interface work area sscrfields.
Notes
If the TYPE addition is used to make a reference to a data type in the ABAP Dictionary of type CHAR and length 1, and for which t the valid values in the domain are defined as "X" and " ", the parameter is automatically displayed as a checkbox on the selection screen.
If the addition USER-COMMAND is specified without the addition AS CHECKBOX, and the parameter is of type c with length 1, it is also displayed as a checkbox.

group is used to define the radio button group for the parameter. The name group is entered directly as a character string with a maximum of 4 characters. Within a selection screen, there must be a minimum of two parameters in the same radio button group. Can we create serach help for a selection screen field with out creating searchhelp object.
I mean is it possible to create serchelp in the program itself with some specific values i want to give.
E.g say we can define any internal table and fill it with values and using that into selection screen fields

I am creating a process chain, but unable to create process variant for the delete index. kindly tell me the
step by step proceure for creating the variant for delete index. also if we use variant which is previously prepared then will it be safe? will it affect the other running process chian.

Hi,
Please do not use an already created variant for index deletion. It might delete indices of some other cube.
You can follow the following steps -
1. Open the chain in Edit mode and click on "Process Types" button
2. On the Left hand side you will have various process types. Choose "Data Target Administration" and expand it.
3. Choose the first process "Delete Index" (it will be marked with a trash bin sign) and drag it to your chain
4. It will ask you create a variant. Press the create Button
5. In new window enter the Process Variant technical name and description
6. Then in new window choose Object Type = Cube through dropdown and Object name via browsing. After choosing the cube name click on "Transfer Selections"
7. Save and return to your chain
8. It will automatically generate a create index step also after delete index.
9. You need to break the link between create and delete step and insert infopackage in between to get the following steps - delete index --> load cube --> create index.

Sorry. I think You wanted the events.
At Selection-screen output. This will firs, just before all the fields are displayed on the screen. For eg: you have something like:
selecttion-screen: begin of blk1.
parameters: p_name(20).
select-options: s_bukrs for t001-bukrs.
selection-screen: end of blk1.
at selection-screen output.
if sy-uname = 'ABS'.
p_name = 'MANAGER'.
If you have specified a select-options and you want to validate it, use
at selection-screen on s_bukrs-low.
select single bukrs into s_bukrs-low from t001.
Similarly, there is at selection-screen on value request for (fld-name).
at selection-screen on help request for (fld_name).

How to create a variant for a program without selection screen

I've created one program which takes the data from 30 tables and loads into one final table.
This program is already moved to Production.
But while creating variant it's not allowing, since the program doesn't have the selection screen.
Is there anyway where I can create a variant in production without selection screen directly as the program code is already moved to production.

In that case you can use transaction SHD0 to create a transaction variant for F-30 with its screen variant for screen# 122. And you also want to creat a so called Variant Transaction Z-something for F-30 using the mentioned transaction variant. You restrict users to use that Z-something. For other unrestricted process, the system will still cal F-30. Here is the documentation:

i have done a module pool screen for taking information from user..later i leave to list processor and give a report to the user.
i am testing the program with many input parameters.i don't want to enter the values each time i execute the program.can i not save a variant like i save for normal abap editor programs?

Variants can be created in Selection Screen only...
For ur Scenario:
To leave to the list use the Statements
LEAVE TO LIST-PROCESSING And return .
then the Data will be automatically retained.

Hi Ann
You can just use an EXPRESSION operator. Configure the mapping to be set based only code generation and operating mode.
You will have an expression output attribute for each one of your projected columns;
MAX (dimension_key) KEEP (DENSE_RANK FIRST ORDER BY day DESC) OVER (PARTITION BY calendar_week_name),
MAX (day) KEEP (DENSE_RANK FIRST ORDER BY DAY DESC) OVER (PARTITION BY calendar_week_name),

2 Choose 5th option Transaction with parameters
3 Give transaction : SM30, Check Skip Initial Screen Press Enter
4 Goto Bottom left corner, click F4 select viewname, on right hand side give table name
5 Press one more time F4, choose update , mark it X on right side.
6 save the transaction.

You still need someone to be able to change the variant, right? That is what exactly PROTECT VARIANT does.
If you select the field Protect variant, the variant can only be changed by the person who created it or last changed it.
