How to create cell borders in Numbers?

Trying to create viewable and printable cell borders in a Numbers spreadsheet. Is it possible for Apple to make this simple process any LESS intuitive? These guys are trying to push me back to Excel even tho I hate Microsoft which uses an incredibly simple method for this. I'm sure it's easy with Numbers too. Maybe I need another coffee. Help please.

1. Correct. I don't see that as a major issue, but you might want to request an 'All Borders option be added to the menu to reduce this to a one step process. The route to send that request directly to Apple is via Provide Numbers Feedback, found in the Numbers menu of numbers '09 (and in the application menu of all or most current Apple applications).
2. You asked:

Something I hadn't tried before in Numbers, but it turned out to be pretty 'intuitive.'
Selecting Allow Border Selection let me select these borders (on the table shown previously) with three clicks (with the addition of a modifier key on the second and third):
Click on the border between C2 and D2. Alll of the border between columns C and D is selected.
Command-click on the border between C7 and C8. All of the border between rows 7 and 8 is selected.
Command-click on the (selected border) between D7 and D8. The segment is removed from the selection.
Now that was 'incredibly easy' and 'intuitive' to me for the reason suggested in my earlier post—although I hadn't previously tried this in Numbers, the behaviour is similar to what I had experienced previously in Pages (and even earlier, if memory serves, in AppleWorks).
After making the selection, I applied an action: set the selected borders to a solid green line, 4 points wide:

In Numbers on Mac, I want all positive numbers in cells to display in blue with comma separators and a leading + sign. Example: the value 4135 should appear as +4,135

You can get the "+", the "-" and the commas in the custom format menu.
For you colors you need conditional formatting as shown by Wayne.

How to create page breaks in numbers?

How do I create page breaks in iCloud Numbers? The spreadsheet I created is 4-5 pages long, but it saves as one long scrolling document, and when it prints, all 4-5 pages are seen (very small, unreadable font) on a single page. Any ideas?

This excel feature is not exactly available in Numbers.
Here we may create up to 255 sheets in a document. They are reachable from the thumbnails area.
And each sheet may embed up to 255 tables also reachable from the thumbnails area.
Think different or use Excel !

How do I add borders in numbers -

When I add a border in Numbers, it looks right but when I go to add another in the same table, the first one disappears -

Method one:
Select the border you wish to change with your cursor - the cursor icon should change, if this doesn't happen you need to Allow Border Selection - look on the toolbar for the double-topped-rectangle with the arrow pointing into it, pull down the menu and this should be the bottom option. So select the border by clicking on it, click again to change the length of the border you are selecting. OR use that same menu in to tool bar to select the borders you wish to change. Now use the menus to the right in the toolbar to change the line, thickness of line and colour.
Method two:
Use Inspector - Table Inspector
Either way, if you select a group of cells that have different cell border properties, your change may not stick - to fix this change it to something else, and then change it back or just change the ones that are wrong.

How to create Labels with continuous numbering?

I would like to create a page of labels, each label has a number in it, and must be incrememnted by one, so a page might have labels numbered 29 through 38 (10 labels per page). I would like to set the page up so that I only need to enter the first label number, and the rest of the labels adjust accordingly. Is this possible?

You can do this with a work around.

Alternatively you can use a Table. Pages will sequence numbers in a table if you enter any kind of a sequence(including dates, days, months etc), in two successive cells, select both and drag out the bottom right white dot to folowing cells.

If we use Scatter chart to handle these data, the output graph is fine but not suitable for me to use.
I wish there will be a trend line between two of each independent points of Scatter graph, and obtain a graph just like the output graph as used in Line chart (line+symbol).
That is, in Line chart, the values of x-axis(with equal-width intervals) are categorical; however, my data is ordinal value or continuous value (like Time, Concentration...etc.). I wish this software has the ability to show the interaction between each points.

You might want to post questions like this over on the Numbers community since it's more likely you'll find expertise there.
However, this one I can help with. If not already showing, you need to turn on the Inspector in Numbers. You do that by clicking on the Inspector icon in the upper right, showing the inspector box highlighted in red below:
Now select the cell(s) you want to format and click on the fourth tab (the one with the "42" in a box). If want no currency sign, select number as your format, while if you want a currency symbol select currency as the format.
Next to the "Decimals" option is the box in which you can select your "negative" format--you have four options for showing negative numbers, two of which will place negative numbers in parenthesis.
Note that the inspector box controls a number of options and settings in Numbers.
If you used to working with Excel you have to understand that Numbers works entirely differently and will have more than a bit of a learning curve.
Generally I find Numbers is the weakest of the iWork offerings. It is a useful program if you need a heaviliy formatted presentation of pure spreadsheet data, though if you want formatted spreadsheets in a mainly text report the Word/Excel combination works better.
The program also falls short in a number of areas vs. Excel if your spreadsheet needs go beyond the basic. It certainly isn't the most efficent at dealing with a large spreadsheet (and, in fact, the fact the default templates all have only a few rows is a good hint that this might not be the product for that megasheet :-) ).
But if you just have basic spreadsheet needs it certainly can do the job.

Numbers- How to copy cells incl borders

Tying to copy and paste cells in numbers and the cell borders dont paste for some reason.

Thanks Wayne but it doesn't work for me. Using the above routine just copies and pastes the borders of one cell... no contents either.
I have got around it by going into pages and pasting it there and it works beautifully. So it obviously copies both contents and borders but why wont it paste them back into numbers?

How to Create Simple In-Cell Charts with the REPT Function

I found this technique on Juice Analytics, and was happy that I could adapt it to Numbers.
Basically, you can create an in-cell chart by repeating a character, x number of times, where x can be a number or cell reference.

I haven't tried myself but my guess is that you need to customize your tree cell editor for putting
