I guess what Jed wants to stress is that prior to IOS 12.2(8)T, a tunnel interface would not go down even if the underlying physical connection would go down. As of IOS 12.2(8)T, you can configure keepalives on the tunnel interface, which cause the interface to go down when the keepalives are missed.

When you configure your interface, you usualy do it like that
interface ethernet0 auto
interface ethernet1 auto
Let's say that ethernet1 is a trunk with 2 vlan and a native vlan, you need to add to your config:
interface ethernet1 vlan100 logical
interface ethernet1 vlan200 logical
After that you need to name those interfaces and set the security level.
nameif ethernet0 outside security0
nameif ethernet1 inside security100
nameif vlan200 V200 security4
nameif vlan100 V100 security6
This configuration will give you an interface(eth1) with 1 native vlan(inside) and 2 tagged vlan(v200 and v100)
PIX will not negociate a trunk, your switch config is correct.

For starters I am no Cisco guru but at least find my way around a few things here and there.
I work as the IT dude for a company with two branches at different geolocations.
Our local network infrastructure at both HQ and branch offices comprise a Cisco 1941 Router and SF 300 24P Managed switches which hooks up our servers, workstations and VoIP phones.
The dedicated internet [DI] is connected via a Hughes radio link which belongs to the telco and on a different IP class and connects to interface 0/0 of Cisco 1941. Interface 0/1 is then connected to one of the SF 300 24P managed switches on another IP class for LAN [192.168.1/24]
I have three questions.
1. How do I access for example the File Server on the Corporate LAN from home?
2. How do I get workstations at branch offices authenticate with Active Directory Server at the HQ?
3. How do I get to get VoIP phones in branch offices hooked up to HQ VoIP PBX?

How to create parallel operation in Routing

Dear Sir,
We have 4 operation involved in manufacturing a component . The operation 10,20, 30,and 40 . Operation 20 & 30 can go in parallel and rest are in a sequential manner .
After going thru SDN , I followed the following steps :
a) Created operation 10, 20 and 40
b) in CA02 , clicked on Sequence and created a new sequence with parallel operation option selected . Here I mentioned branching operation as 10 and return operation 40 .
c) Created operation 30 , under the parallel sequence option operation page .
My problem is that now in CA02 , I am not able to see all operation 10,20,30,40 together . The planning dept require that all operation should reflect together and there itself he should be able to know that operation 20,30 will be in parallel and rest in sequencial .
Moreover by selecting on "Operation Graphic" icon , again we are not able to see all operation 10,20,30,40 as per the given relationship .
Kindly help us please.

i think you are looking at an option were in you can confirm or do goods Issue for the order. If that was the requirement, then the control is in customizing transaction "OPK4".
Here in this transaction you need to define "operation sequence is not checked" for the plant/order type combination.

How to create custom GUI interface for Cisco router?

Hello,
I am working on a Cisco solution and I have my router configured for the solution I need. However, if a non-cisco person needs to use my solution then I think he will need a GUI interface which will have few "buttons" which when clicked will run some Cisco commands on Cisco router to make it work. Is there a way to design such GUI interface which is compatible with Cisco routers? I know Cisco has SDM, but that is too involved and detailed, which is useful only for people who know atleast a little bit about Cisco. Here I am looking at crowd who will have 0 knowledge of Cisco.
Please let me know if something like this can be done. If yes, how and how easily?

There are lots of ways to do this - you can use SNMP or even HTTP to push or pull commands from Cisco devices. How easy it is to create a GUI depends on your programming skills. I would guess a simple web page triggering backend scripts would be the easiest way to do this.

Here is a guide on configuring the SSH username and password on your Cisco device:

You will need to setup the VTY lines, as well as setup a password in order for this to work.
Judging from the screen shot, you will need to run the commands listed in Global Configuration mode. (configure terminal)
Example:
Router#config t
Router(config)# username Pranay priviledge 15 secret 0 yourpassword

I want tald you how to change guest network name in cisco (what have different name)
What we need.
1. Cisco Connect for Mac OSX (i use snow leopard and Cisco Connect for E3000)
2. Terminal
Okay. Let's go.
1. Install Cisco Connect for OSX
2. After setup - slighty setup your cisco router (give something name and password), then, when cisco connect say you "You now connected the internet" and going to main screen - exit from cisco connect
3. Open Terminal (Or you can use Finder (go to Application, show package content Cisco Connect))
4. Go to /Application/Cisco Connect.app/Contents/Resources/lcid/<your setup language, for english - go 1033>/
5. Edit resource_strings.pus (vi resource_strings.pus)
6. Change "-guest" in string <LocalizableString RcFileId='10019' BaseTextHash='0xA65E286D' BaseText='-guest'/> for something what you want. For example, i changed for ' Guest Network'
7. Save
8. Open Cisco Setup
9. Go to router configuration and change desired name. I changed to 'Grizlly Bear'
10. After setup name - go to Guest Setting and Enable. As you can si, your guest network name set as 'Grizlly Bear Guest Network'
11.Exit Cisco Setup
12. Go to web interface setup
13. Setup Wifi manual and change SSID for diferent names. I change 5Gh to 'Grizlly Bear Hi-Speed Network' and 2.4GHz to 'Grizlly Bear Main Network'
14. Setup your hostname for all services (fileserver, media server, etc)

In order to enable Guest networking, the AirPort Extreme must be configured as your "main" Internet router. In this configuration, Connection Sharing = Share a Public IP address. The Extreme would be connected directly to the Internet modem and NOT downstream of another router with NAT enabled.
In this configuration, the Guest network would provide access ONLY to the Internet and NOT to your LAN.

Sorry, but your post is not clear. The topic of this thread is how to extend an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme with a Cisco router.
This would mean that the main router was an AirPort device and the Cisco would be extending the existing network provided by the AirPort.
Is that really what you want to do?
If not, then it sounds like your Cisco ISP provided wireless router is your "main" router and you will be using the Time Capsule to extend the network.
Please start another post to tell us exactly.......

How do I identify the ports to open on my cisco router from Rogers to allow access through my apple tv - I am not using wireless!

I only have spotty access at best through m Apple TV to itunes, netflix and utube. I am Rogers subscriber (feel my pain) and am now using their CISCO DCP3825 router. Apple TV purchased this past Christmas. I am not using wireless. No issues prior to replacing my old router and Rogers modem to go to DCP3825.
Apple TV is up to date - updated by connecting to my Macbook Pro.
Rogers tech support was of no help - suggested I open some ports - where do I go for the list(s)?
Any help would be much approeciated.
