How to define size of virtual universe ?

Hi all,
I would like to know if it's possible to size a virtual universe to precise values. Or, is-it possible to know the default size of a virtual universe ?
Thank you for your reply.
Dave

if it's possible to size a virtual universe to precise values
See the javadoc for javax.media.j3d.View & associated classes.
You can clip the front and back View planes and set your own Eye policies to precise values. The universe size (ie what you can see) is otherwise only limited by the physical display device and z-buffer depth and so on.

  • How to define a separate virtual host for each client in SICF

    Hello,
    We have an ERP system with multiple clients running on it. The WebDynpro ABAP applications once developed are available on all clients, as standard. However, this is not our desired behavior. We want:
    1. The WebDynpro ABAP applications should be managed separately in SICF depending on the client
    2. The URL for accessing the WebDynpro application should have a own host name for each client. e.g.
    A WebDynpro application on client 100 should be accessed by http://host1:5000/sap/bc/... and the same application on client 200 should be accessed by http://host2:5000/sap/bc/...
    After a while researching I find out that creating a virtual host for each client in SICF would be a possible solution to fulfill the above mentioned requirments:
    1. Set the profile parameter is/HTTP/virt_host_* with corresponding host name and port number
    2. Create a new virtual host in SICF assigning the profile paramter to it
    3. Assign a client to this virtual host
    My question is how to specify a client to a virtual host? I didn't find any possibilities in SICF!
    Anyone can help me? Thanks a lot in advance!
    Best Regards

    Hi Srikishan,
    thanks for your reply. Your suggested way is certainly a potential, and also my preferred option for solving the multiple-client-capable URL access to WebDynpro / BSP applications.
    However, for some reasons, based on the customer requirements, the client should not be visible in the URL. The URL for accessing the WebDynpro / BSP applications on different client should have different host name, as if they are different companies. Besides that, we want to manage each WebDynpro / BSP application on different clients in SICF separately.
    Therefore, at least on my opinion, we need to introduce a virtual host for each client in SICF. But how do I make it happen?

    Hi there,
    The size of an OLAP AW page is automatically derived from the block size of the tablespace in which it is stored (which in turn is typically derived from the db_block_size initialisation parameter)
    Do you have a particular concern about this setting?
    Thanks,

  • How can I create a virtual keyboard shortcut in my dock?

    So I started using my MacBook Pro as a device I connect to my TV. I have an HDMI adapter, and, after setting up the display and sound, it is awesome! I even purchased a Trackpad so I can sit on my couch and navigate. The cost of the adapter and Trackpad are more than paid for with my canceling of cable.
    Anyway, my question is about the virtual keyboard in OS X. It doesn't happen often, but I sometimes have to type in a user name or password for sites. I know how to go through "System Preferences", "Universal Access", and then "Keyboard Preferences" to turn it on, but is there a faster way?
    What I really want to know is if I can create a shortcut in my dock for the virtual keyboard?
    If not, does anyone know of any third party, virtual keyboard applications that would work this way?
    Thanks!

    @ KA-BOOM!!
    Okay, try this:
    1. Copy KeyboardViewer.app to your Applications folder (or wherever you want it).
    2. Edit this copied KeyboardViewer.app bundle with TextWrangler or a comparable text editor or a property list editor, changing a single character in KeyboardViewer.app/Contents/Info.plist so that the value for NSUIElement is 0 instead of 1.
    3. Drag the new KeyboardViewer.app to the Dock.
    When you want to quit the application, do so from the Dock icon.  (If you click the red button--the usual way to quit KeyboardViewer when it has been invoked from the menu extra--the application will keep running facelessly in the background and you won't be able to get the KeyboardViewer GUI back again unless you kill its process or restart.  All in all, quitting from the Dock icon is the quickest solution.)

  • How to define tablespaces in Oracle 10g and how put tables on tablespaces

    Hello,
    I'm having trouble to define the structure of tablespaces and how to distribute the tables/indexes/lobs on these tablespaces.
    Do you know some rules on how to define this?
    What I have until now:
    1) Put table indexes in separate tablespace
    2) Put lobs in separate tablespace and use storage clause when defining the lob column. Not sure how many tablespaces to use, I have tables with millions of lobs and tables with just one lob (with row containing the lob).
    3) Please fill more rules here ...
    Thank you, Alex.

    Long story: I received database and schema creation scripts defined in Oracle 9i. I want to redesign the tablespaces number/storage and also to change the distribution of tables into tablespaces.
    As an example I will show how tablespaces are created now. There is one tablespace for indexes BLUE_AUTO_INDX and one for each EXTENT MANAGEMENT of:
    - 64K for BLOB , name BLUE_K064_BLOB
    - 64K for tables , name K064_NTAB
    - 128K for tables, name BLUE_K128_NTAB
    - 512K for CLOB , name BLUE_K512_CLOB
    - 4M for BLOB , name BLUE_M004_BLOB
    - 64M for CLOB , name BLUE_M064_CLOB
    - 8M for tables , name BLUE_M008_NTAB
    - 1M for tables , name BLUE_M001_NTAB
    - 256M for tables, name BLUE_M256_NTAB
    Definition of each tablespace is like:
    CREATE TABLESPACE BLUE_AUTO_INDX DATAFILE 'BLUE_AUTO_INDX01.DBF' SIZE 200M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 100M MAXSIZE UNLIMITED LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 64M SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;
    CREATE TABLESPACE BLUE_K064_BLOB DATAFILE 'BLUE_K064_BLOB01.DBF' SIZE 20M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10M MAXSIZE UNLIMITED LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 64K SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;
    CREATE TABLESPACE BLUE_K064_NTAB DATAFILE 'BLUE_K064_NTAB01.DBF' SIZE 20M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 20M MAXSIZE UNLIMITED LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 64K SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;
    CREATE TABLESPACE BLUE_K128_NTAB DATAFILE 'BLUE_K128_NTAB01.DBF' SIZE 20M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10M MAXSIZE UNLIMITED LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 128K SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;

    CREATE TABLESPACE BLUE_M004_BLOB DATAFILE 'BLUE_M004_BLOB01.DBF' SIZE 20M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10M MAXSIZE UNLIMITED LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 4M SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;
    CREATE TABLESPACE BLUE_M064_CLOB DATAFILE 'BLUE_M064_CLOB01.DBF' SIZE 400M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 100M MAXSIZE UNLIMITED LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 64M SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;
    CREATE TABLESPACE BLUE_M008_NTAB DATAFILE 'BLUE_M008_NTAB01.DBF' SIZE 200M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 100M MAXSIZE UNLIMITED LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 8M SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;

    Does this structure of tablespaces ok? I mean if the logic of one tablespace for different EXTENT SIZEs looks ok?

  • How can we handle CLOB in Universe and WebIntelligence

    Hi,
    Could  you explain how can we handle CLOB in Universe and WebIntelligence?If we use CLOB in either of this,how is the  Report performance ?Is the perfomance of report degraded? Appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Swapna

    Hi,
    There is no way around this, long texts are big chunks of data that have to be moved from the database to the webi report.
    Depending on how many rows of data you retrieve this can become a problem in various spots.
    1) network traffic (lots of data to move over the network).
    2) webi report memory (lots of data that needs to be stored in memory to work with the data).
    So you need to limit the query in either the number of rows being retrieved,
    or in the size of the data that is retrieved per row.
    Depending on your use of message text, you can limit long text object to a smaller number of characters.
    (Universe, Parameters, Controls...)
    Depending on your version of database and BO, the default of this value is 1000 or unrestricted.
    It might be that you just need an idea of the message and can limit this to 100 chars or similar, which should help performance.
    It is also possible that the text is always 'long' padded with spaces, in this case it can help to trim the message column in the universe already.
    Good luck,
    Marianne

  • How to resolve the loop in universe level

    how to resolve the loop in universe level

    Hi, Kashim
              In univese level loops resolved by Chasm Trap and Fan Trap methods.
    Chasm Trap:  A chasm trap is a type of join path between three tables when two many-to-one joins converge on single table, and there is no context in place that separate the converging join paths.
    There is "many-to-one-to-many"relationship beween the three tables in the universe structure.you can define a context for each table at the many end of the joins.
    A chasm trap is not dependent on the object types, the query could be made up of only dimensions,only details,or only measures,or any combination of the three types with the "many " tables for chasm to occure.
    you can also detect the chasm trap Automatically, tool---->Detect context
    To resolve the chasm trap, you need to make two separate Queries and than combine the results Depending on type of objects defined for the fact tables and the type of end user environment,
    Fan trap: it is occured when there is a "one-to-many" join to the table that "fans out " into another "one-to-many" join to another table.
    Avoid fan trap: The first place by relating all measure objects in the universe to the same table in the universe structure,Avoid placing a measure on anything other than the last table in a in a table path, which is the table with the "many" cardinality attached to it.
    This methods is not recomended as it only works for measure objects and may result in inefficienies in processing the query. This resolution works the same for chasm and fan traps.
    you can create more alias tables based on your requirement in single universe. and it is true conext, when two or more paths.
    Theese methods also apply for resolving loops:
    Short cut join also one method for resolving loops
    Aggregate aware function used another waty for resolving loops
    if you are not resolving the loop result is  redusing the number of records.

  • How to define Length of char. and KF

    During infoobject creation, how to define the length of char. and KF, is it related to master data text length ? Should we take other things into account? When we see one field in table, the length of the field was defined with 2, but its master data text length was more than 2, what's the reason for this things?
    Edited by: hi ni on Apr 18, 2008 12:12 PM

    hi,
    how to define the length of char. and KF, is it related to master data text length ?
    ther business will have defined  length and type for any characteristics. ex - Materail number may have lenth of max 15 and is Char type.
    but for text max size is by default 40 chars.
    Should we take other things into account?
    get spec from client, that could be better and also consider the field used to map ur char/KF from source system.

  • How to define different styles to different levels of hierarchical titles?

    With difficulty, I found how to define a style for hierarchical titles, i.e.:
    1. First level
    1.1. Second level
    1.1.1. Third level
    etc.
    But all levels will have the same character parameters (font, size, etc).
    What I would like is, e.g.:
    1. First level
    1.1. Second level
    1.1.1. Third level
    In MS Word, it is easy: you define a different style for each level. In Pages, I found no way to do this, and no clue in the user's manual.
    Is it possible (I guess it should be), and if so, how?
    Thanks
    Éric

    You need to use the Styles Drawer. Go to: View > Show Styles Drawer. To define a Style, highlight the formatted text then click the plus sign at the bottom of the styles drawer. To delete a style, secondary click on the style and choose Delete Style.

  • Virtual Universe and Viewing Platform

    Hi,
    Iam also having a problem with setting the viewing platform for a Virtual Universe. My objects come up Zoomed big. I don't know how to handle this problem. Pl. help.
    Thanks,
    Molly.

    Fleischer,
    I am using the SimpleUniverse approach in my application, but I would like to change camera settings, etc. I cannot, however, find a description of the SimpleUniverse API in the standard documentation for the 1.3.1 Java3D download (which is where the Sun FAQ says to look). Do you have a pointer?
    I have also tried building my own virtual universe using the Locale, View, etc. classes. It all complies and runs with no complaints, but all I get is a black screen (the scene graph works fine in the SimpleUniverse). Are there examples of working code using the basic Java3D classes anywhere?
