from the above i want to display only fifth character in o/p:

                           required o/p:                           4
please answer me with coding as soon as possible.

In the internal which you are using to display the data replace the MATNR just by the fifth character of the MATNR.
LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <FS_ITAB>.
<FS_ITAB>-MATNR = <FS_ITAB>-MATNR+4(1).
ENDLOOP.
Or you can have a different column which can be used for display purpose of that one character, you will have to have that extra column in the internal table as well as the field catalog.

How to display each character of an input string in different rows

Dear Members,
I want to write a SQL or PL/SQL where in I can separate and display each character of an input string into multiple rows.
For eg, the input string is TESTING, I want the result to be displayed as following:
1 T
2 E
3 S
4 T
5 I
6 N
7 G
I know we can use substr, but it returns me only one or more than one characters consecutively.
Please help me get the desired output.

If you are using an inputText component to display a Character Large Object (CLOB), then you will need to create a custom converter that converts the CLOB to a String.

How to display Chinese Character(s) in a image on a Linux platform?

Hi,
I have the following code that runs perfect on Windows XP system after I installed the Chinese fonts on it, and set the fontconfig file under jre.
What the program does is: load an image file, write some Chinese chars in it and redisplay the image, so that the image will contain the Chinese characters in it.
I ported the generating image with Chinese Characers part of code into a web application which the servlet returns the modified image to client. The web application is running on a linux box. However, when a user views the image on the browser, the Chinese chars are not well displayed (they are just several squares).
My question is, does the problem comes from the Chinese fonts settings on the linux system where the servlet is running on? And, how to fix the problem, any simple links on how to do that?

"Arial Unicode MS" is the font provided by Microsoft, usually with MS Office products. I believe that's why those Chinese are rendered as square boxes on Linux. Either specifying some Chinese font available on your Linux box in the Font constructor, or using one of the logical fonts instead (for JDK5 and later) would help.

How to Display Japanese character in Crystal Report 8.5

Hi,
I've some data stored in japanese language in sql server 2005 database using nvarchar datatype.
When i execute store proc in sql server, it's showing japanese character properly in sql server. However, when i'm trying to display data in crystal report 8.5, it's showing ????? character.
I've tried to change font to 'Arial Unicode MS (Japanese)',MS Gothic, MS UI Gothic, MS Mincho (Japanese) as per the search result available in google. But not had any luck.
Can anyone please provide any solution for this?

How to display more than 255 chars in background job with ALV Grid ????

Hi All,
I am using ALV grid with OO.
I have used call screen for ALV grid display. I have to display more than 255 characters in width. While running it, I can see the list perfectly.
But in background mode, the list is truncated after 255 chars.
Can anybody help how to send complete list(width more than 255 chars) to spool.

Hi SAP fan,
YES you can run the ALV report in background mode.
To run the report in background do F9 instead of F8, then give immediate and save.
Now goto Sm35 goto job overview and view the job listed
Choose the job and press the spool button. It will show the list created on the next page. When u clcik the list u can see the ALV output.
To see this the job should be in the finished status.
How to define Periodic Jobs
1.Execute transaction SM36
2.Define Job name, Job class, Target server
3.Click on 'START CONDITION' button
4.Click on 'Date/Time' button
5.Enter Scheduled start DATE & TIME. Check mark 'Periodic Job' field. Click on 'Period values' button and select 'Hourly' or 'Dialy' or 'Weekly' or 'Monthly' or Other period and SAVE. Go back to main screen.
6.Click on 'STEPS' button and enter Program name and Variant under box 'ABAP Program'. Click on 'Print Specification' button and enter Printer name under 'Output device' and SAVE
7.Click on SAVE button until you get message on bottom of the screen that describes 'Job XYZ saved with status: Scheduled'.
8.Click on 'Job overview' button or execute SM37 transaction.
9.Select the appropriate 'Job name', 'User name', 'Job Status' & Schedule date under 'Job start condition' and click on 'Execute' button or press F8.
10.You will now see all your scheduled JOBS.

You can Run in Background but make sure it is alv list, not alv Grid FM. if you are uisng alv list not problem , but if you are using alv grid then you can code like this..

How to display Various currency categories in same column in ALV grid?

hi..
i wanted to display currency field in a column which has the currency value of different currency categories like US dollar, EURO, Indian Rupees. The thing is,
1. for US dollar it should contain ONLY last 2 decimal pts.
2. for Euro, it should hav contain last 3 decimal pts.
3. For Indian, it should hav contain last 2 decimal pts.
how to achieve this in one column and how to declare it, because it all in same field.
This report is in ALV GRID.
and important is , i also wanted to do the SUM for the total amount which has combinations of all above specified currencies.
how to achieve it.

You need two columns amount and currency code in your internal table, the fields must be of type CURR and CUKY, and the field catalog must link the amount and the currency code. (CFIELDNAME of the amount column contains the name of the currency code column)
The amount will be displayed according to the currency code definition in customizing, and will be summed by currency code.
