How to drop oracle 10.2.0.4 rac database on RHEL5

Hi,
I am having oracle 10.2.0.4 rac database with ASM configuration on RHEL5. Every week/day i take rman level 0 / level 1 backups by using RMAN into disk. Now i would like to test those backups. For that i need to drop this existing database and restrore, recovery from those backups. My database is configured with asm that is having two disk groups.
DATA for storing data
FRA for archive logs
How can i drop the rac 10.2.0.4 database and restore & recovery database from RMAN backups with asm. Could any one send clean steps for this testing?

I asked about instances. Before performing your steps is it mandatory to bring down all the oracle instances. Before droping this database how to deregister these services from clusterware? After recover the database how to register the database services with clusterware?if you want to register/de-register, you need to use SRVCTL in clusterware. commands to ADD/REMOVE from clusterware, refer this below note.

Assuming an agent is running on the servers you want to monitor,
navigate to the Agent home page (Via setup --> Agent)
When in the agent home page select 'Add Database'and press [Go]
Assuming yopur database now gets recognized, select the Configure icon and enter the password for dbsnmp.
When done, press [Ok] to return to the agent home page.

Recommended patches on oracle 10.2.0.4 RAC database and CRS

Hi,
This week I am planning to upgrade my oracle 10.2.0.2 RAC database oracle 10.2.0.4.
Also, I want to apply if any recommended patches we can apply on 10.2.0.4 database or on CRS 10.2.0.4
I searched in metalink, but in vain i didn't get any exact patches recommended on 10.2.0.4.
If you have any patch numbers that need to be applied on oracle 10.2.0.4 RAC database, please provide me.

Oracle not available while creating RAC database

Hi,
I have got 2node Oracle 10gR2 RAC installed on solaris 10 and am using NFS for keeping clusterware and database files.
cluvfy with pre dbinst option ran successfully.
Now while creating RAC database through DBCA, I am getting Oracle not Available error message. No relevant message written in alert log.
Can you suggest me as to what to do to resolve the issue please.

Do you see any kind of logs under $OH/cfgtool*/dbca/..may be it will help with some pointers. If that doesn't give any useful information, try to startup nomount the instance using a sample init.ora file to see if reports anything in the alert log.

The forever license is mentioned as "perpetual" otherwise its going to be on yearly basis. But , still I would be fully agreed with Fahd and would suggest that you discuss this your local oracle sales rep. I believe no one would pay the listed price and there can be tons of ways to do price negotiations and for all this and any other hidden paradigms, oracle's official sales is the best resource to check with. Anything said by anyone over here and elsewhere by a non-employee, won't be honored by oracle.

I want to know how to use SERVICES in oracle 10g rac.I know how to create servcies i.e using srvctl create servcies or DBMS_SERVICES.
I know servcies can be used with JOBS using DBMS_SCHEDULER but i wat ot know besides jobs what are all the things we can used with services.

But in my case mwe are having a ERP applicaiton that has been build on oracle forms, so here we are having aeprate forms.Lets suppose that one form name is MEMBER.
and i have also created on servcie using
srvctl add service -d DB -s MEM -r RAC1,RAC2 -a RAC3
now my question how do i integrate this MEMBER form to services i.e MEM.
Like we can use in case oj create scheduling jobs using dbms_scheduler, we are having one prameter job_class where er have to specify the name of the parameter
but in my case how do i integrate it.
I hope you understandb my question.

How Far Back Oracle Keep AWR Reports

Does anyone know how far back Oracle retain AWR reports in the database? Is this something that we can customize? If it is, can someone offer some insights?

The default settings for 'interval' and 'retention' are (60 min and 7 days respectively),
Sample modification using,
execute dbms_workload_repository.modify_snapshot_settings(interval => 120,retention => 20160);
the parameter value is in minutes.

Running AD Relink
Run AD Relink as follows.
1. Set the environment.
You must set the environment to indicate the location of the configuration
parameters that define your system. This task is common to many AD utilities. See

2. Relink files.
Run AD Relink with the following command:
UNIX:
S adrelink.sh force=n "ad <executable name>"
Windows:
C:\> sh adrelink.sh force=n "ad <executable name>"

tablespace name: jllp_tabs01
datafile:
/ora/data001/jllp/jllp_tbs01_tbl_1.dbf
/ora/data001/jllp/jllp_tbs01_tbl_2.dbf
/ora/data001/jllp/jllp_tbs01_tbl_3.dbf
/ora/data001/jllp/jllp_tbs01_tbl_4.dbf
its has consisting of 4 datafiles, I need to drop the 2 of them perminently.
the datafile are having data.
how to drop the datafiles.
please suggest me.

There is no way to drop the datafiles once they are added to the tablespace. The command given by Asif , offline drop won't actually drop the datafile but would be an indication only to Oracle that you would be dropping the entire tablespace after issuing this command. In 11g, there is a command to drop the datafile but only if it's completely empty.

We have database that somebody used in past as EM Grid repository. This no longer in use. Looking for documentation on how to drop it. If somebody knows please provide me with link to appropriate Oracle document.

I suspect that if you cannot locate the instructions on the proper way to remove EM that you can drop the owning repositiry user sysman from the database then cleanup any database parameters related to EM.
I would think the place to start would be the EM (Grid Control) installation manual for your version of Oracle and platform.
