How to estimate on-card application's total size
there is a similar topic before,
seems many experts count the size by self,
but i still have no idea about it.
can anyone guide me a direction to estimate this from CAP file?
for example, how do i know "new" an object's overhead?
i had read an article, which says "Class overhead is over 200 bytes",
can i count this from CAP file?

I've never factored in the overhead because I believe that's left up to the vendors. Overhead might be covered somewhere in the JCVM spec.

RAM is used for stack (local variables, parameters, etc) and transient objects. EPROM may contain code and object instances.
Anyway, occupied size in RAM or EPROM depends on implementation of Java Card.
Size in EPROM is approximately the same as size of all components of cap file excluding descriptor.cap.
Approximate RAM requirements can be calculated using specification. Each method parameter and local variable occupies 2 bytes (int values - 4 bytes). Each method call takes 6-8 bytes on stack. -
How to find total size of selected items in library
My library contains much more than my 2GB Nano can hold. I frequently change the content of the Nano with songs and books. How can I keep track of the total size of items I'm selecting for the next Nano update to speed my update? Presently I can only guess what to unselect if the selections are of greater size than my Nano will hold.
There is no direct way to accumulate total file size when selecting a subset of songs within the Library or a Playlist.
The only way you can manage this is to create an empty Playlist that you can drag songs into. It will accumulate the total size of the songs as you deposit them into it (as described by StarDeb above).
If you get to a size greater than the nano will hold, then remove one or more songs from that Playlist.
There is no 'running-total' of only the selected items like Windows Explorer does. Sorry. -

What does it take to build smart card applications?
Just out of interest I was wondering what does it take to build smart card applications:
- Can I do it at home with my PC or do I have to have access to expensive hardware?
- How difficult is it to master given that I do it on my own with no help. Does it involve a lot of hardware issues?
- If hardware is required (a smart card and a cable connection), where do I get it and how much does it cost?Let me rephrase my question.
I understand that the deployment process may not be so easy. That does not disturb me.
I just want to know whether I'll experience hardware probelms. If reading/writing to the card involves putting it inside and taking it outside from the device just like a floppy disk without any complications, then I don't have any worries.
By the way, does the reader device is used for both reading AND writing? -

I could see you wanting LR ,Bridge or some other image organizer to open. ACR is not a start able application and Photoshop has no feature to import images from your camera's sd media to computers storage devices. I just use Windows File explorer. Look at your OS learn how to change you card reader's autoplay settings. On windows you will find information like this.

Thanks in advance..for 1000 cards you can use a "small" printer like an evolis "dualis" or something like that
we've produced thousands of cards with this method in my company.
the pro is that you can also print the cards in the same time.
they usually have simple APIS like get_new_card_from_loader(), put_card_on_contacts(), eject_card()
you can connect any reader on the printer , the raw card contacts are available on a connector.
some printers also have contactless couplers.
but remember that deploying cards in the field is not just loading an applet.
it's also a cryptographic challenge, you need to change the card keys or anyone will be able to play with your cards, adding and removing applets as they want.
typically this is achieved by using an ultra secret mother key and whatever derivation algorithm you like using data from INIT UPDATE as diversifier. example, you can TDES cipher part of the INIT UPDATE data using the mother key as TDES key, or use something involving SHA1, using a HSM if you are serious, etc.

How To create a Buffer Application Program in LabVIEW?
Dear all:
Can someone advise me on how to implement a buffer application for LabVIEW.
Basically I have 2 application programs than run continously in paralell.
1) LabVIEW Data Logging & Plotting Program. It takes 90 ms to excute its code
2) C++ Data Acquisition Program. It Samples the data from a Reflective Memory Card (on the PCI bus of my PC)
at 1ms and creates a Buffer where it store one sample per channel every 1 ms.
I know LabVIEW have the Code Interface Node to call a C program but since both (The LabVIEW and the C) are runing (one slower than the other) in Parallel I need to somehow interrupt the C program from LabVIEW and get from it the data that it as collected so far.
Any suggestio
n will be highly appreciated. I attach txt file with a little more description of the problem.

The best architecture for this application would be to have the C++ program divided into two threads. One thread is continuously acquiring data and placing it in a queue. The other "handling" thread will read data from the queue and serve it up to your LabVIEW application.
Much better than using the Code Interface Node, build the C++ application into a DLL. You can then call a function from your LabVIEW program to start the acquisition, and then calls to the handling thread function will return data to LabVIEW.
