How to Export Mail RSS feeds to another reader

How do I go about exporting RSS feeds I have in Mail into another reader like NetNewsWire?
Thanks.

Hi Purple Cat,
Have you considered using New New Wire as a bridge between google reader and apple mail?
1) download NetNewsWire
2) configure NetNewsWire as default RSS reader
3) open NetNewsWire
4) Enable Assentive Devices
5) run terminal command to add RSS feed to NetNewsWire
6) verified correct feed to add in NewNewsWire
7) synced with google reader.
1) NetNewsWire download, put in applications folder.
2)open safari, go to safari menu, click preferences, when preferences open chose RSS. Set the pulldown menu default RSS reader to NetNewsWire
3) open NetNewsWire, make sure it's open, with no dialog box being displayed.
4) open system preferences, Click on Universal Access, check "enable access to assisted devices"
4) Open terminal, paste in the fallowing command, then press return:
IFS=$'\n';for i in $(find ~/Library/Mail/RSS/ -name "Info.plist");do open $(grep "<string>http://" $i | sed "s/.*\(http[^<]*\).*/\1/;s/http/feed/"); osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to keystroke return'; sleep 20; done; say done;
NOTE: while this command runs do not click on any thing. it will take about 20 seconds between adding each RSS feed. if your speakers are on and your volume loud enough, you should hear the computer say 'done' after adding all the RSS feeds.
5) in NetNewsWire verify all the RSS are good to go, remove any you do not wish to add to google reader.
6) when your sure your ok to have the feed in NetNewsWire added to google reader:
in netnewswire go to preferences, click on the syncing icon, put in your google user name and password, Click Merge Subscriptions button, Then check "sync with google reader.

  • Exporting my RSS Feeds from Mail

Is there a way to export my RSS feeds from Mail 3.0 so that I can then reimport them in another iMac at work. I don't have (nor do I want to purchase .Mac for synchronizing), but if there is a way to just export those and import them into Mail on another machine, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks!

It's pretty crude but I have an Applescript which scans the Mail RSS folders and dumps an OPML file on your desktop. I wrote it to get a copy of all my feeds for Google Reader - hopefully it'll work for you too...

  • How to get an rss feed of all articles I have made on technet wiki?

I wonder if all of my TechNet wiki articles can be viewed in an rss feed? I wanted to rss them together in-case I have a lot in the future and so I can maybe link them to my personal blog.

Go to the TNWiki site, and search for:
    site:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/ "First published by <your user name>"
Then you'll see a RSS link, that you can use to read the RSS feed.
Another option: tag your articles with a specific tag and use the feed, like
Another option is to use bing for it, searching the source site (TNWIKI) and your name.Let me provide you with some examples, which you can customize very easily to fullfil your needs.
Search Technet Wiki with my name (only the originally authored articles)
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Search/en-US?query=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fsocial.technet.microsoft.com%2Fwiki%2F%20%22First%20published%20by%20Peter%20Geelen%22&refinement=90&beta=0&ac=4
For example, searching with my tag: pgtag
    Result:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/tags/pgtag/default.aspx
    Alternatively using Bing:
Search for : site:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/ "First published by Peter Geelen"
    Result:
    http://be.bing.com/search?q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fsocial.technet.microsoft.com%2Fwiki%2F+%22First+published+by+Peter+Geelen%22&qs=n&form=QBRE&filt=all&pq=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fsocial.technet.microsoft.com%2Fwiki%2F+%22first+published+by+peter+geelen%22&sc=0-0&sp=-1&sk=
This search is available as RSS Feed like (notice the format:rss tag in the URL):
    http://be.bing.com/search?format=rss&q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fsocial.technet.microsoft.com%2Fwiki%2F+%22First+published+by+Peter+Geelen%22&qs=n&form=QBRE&filt=all&pq=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fsocial.technet.microsoft.com%2Fwiki%2F+%22first+published+by+peter+geelen%22&sc=0-0&sp=-1&sk=

  • Mail RSS Feeds Stopped Updating

    Hi there,
In the past week, I've noticed that my Mail RSS feeds have stopped updating and I'm also unable to open/subscribe to new RSS feeds.
When I try to click on a new RSS feed in Safari, I get the following error message:
Safari can’t open the page “feed://www.vanilladays.com/feed/”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (Mach error 268435460 - (ipc/send) timed out)” (NSMachErrorDomain:268435460) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
In parallel to this, I've noticed that Safari is is also taking around 5 minutes to load (the is normal once loaded). I've got a separate topic about this.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? I was having these problems before I updated OSX yesterday.
    Thanks for any help,
    Ste

i was able to find this on another website...
CXL: Safari fails to display RSS feeds when CPU is under load or free disk space on system drive is small. That pretty much sums it up. It's annoying, too, because if Time Machine is doing its hourly backup or I'm converting video files, Safari's RSS display repeatedly fails with the same error message: "Mach errore 268451843 - (ipc/rcv) timed out" or "NSMachErrorDomain:268451843". Under the same conditions, Safari fetches and displays normal webpages perfectly fine. Filed: 5610533.
but this doesn't make sense, I have about 4.5 GB free on my startup drive....
i also found this apple thread which is about the same issue, but also has no resolution..

if anyone figures anything out please help! thank you!

  • Where is Mail RSS feeds on Lion 10.8?

Please let me know where to find Mail RSS feeds using Lion 10.8 and Mail 6.0.
    Thank you.

RSS has been completely removed from Mail and Safari in OS X 10.8. There are several third-party RSS readers available; search MacUpdate for "RSS".
BTW, this forum is for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. The OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion forum is here:

  • How do i manage rss feeds within fire fox

i see no way to create rss folders so that i can manage many rss feeds from different web sites. there is the latest headlines button on the favorites bar (which came loaded with bbc) but i have no idea how to manage this as one would a standard rss feed reader.
As well; i don't know what the next up button is? how it works or how to manage?

RSS feeds are loaded from a server via an XML file with the feed items. You can't edit that list. All you do is to create a bookmark with the feed URL by visiting the feed page.
You can find the RSS feed (Subscribe) button in the toolbar palette in the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window and drag the button on a toolbar.

  • I am trying to recover my bookmarks and mail RSS feeds+folders.

I had to do a clean install of Lion.  I almost have everything back but I am missing a few of my backup files.  If I can locate these remaining items, I will be done finally!
    Safari bookmarks
Mail RSS feeds and mail folders
    Oh
And it would be nice to locate my iTune's Artwork for my library items. Not not a deal breaker, there are just so many of them to hunt and peck for if I decide to do so.
I have looked everywhere I can think of for these with no success.

I ended up having the Apple Genius bar work on this problem for me.  The plists are now hidden in the Lion software and they had to go into the basic language portion of the system and execute commands to locate and retrieve the information.  However, I do have all the information back.

  • How can I add RSS feeds to Mail in Mountain Lion?

There is no longer an option in mail in the File menu, to add RSS feeds to Mail.  When I am in Safari and click on the "Reader" button it gives me directions to go to mail, and click "Add RSS Feed" in the File menu but that option is not there when I am in Mail.  Any suggestions?

  • How can I transfer RSS feeds from one PC to another?

I have an old laptop using WinXP with Firefox installed and a significant number of RSS feed tabs.
I have a new laptop using Win7 Home Premium 64-bit with Firefox installed. I now want to copy the collection of RSS feeds on my old laptop to my new laptop.
    Thank you!

You can backup the bookmarks to an HTML file and import that file in the new laptop.<br />
You will have to remove the unwanted bookmarks and only keep or copy/move the RSS feed bookmarks to the folder where you want them.

  • Mail RSS Feed Problem

Hello, I've got a problem with my RSS feeds in Mail and it's driving me nuts. I had a number of feeds which were all working properly and suddenly my craigslist feeds stopped. All previous and new feeds still work but the craigslist feeds give me the error "There was an error updating the RSS feed “santabarbara.craigslist.org” - The requested URL was not found on this server."
I thought it might be a problem with craigslist but their feed works fine in my Firefox Live Bookmarks. It only appears to not be working in Mail. It was around the time of the 10.6.4 update but I can't be certain. I'm thinking it could be some sort of cache issue for just that site but don't know how to check.
One of the feeds is http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/med/index.rss
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Rob

When you say you tried Safari & Firefox to read feeds from CraigsList, do you mean just loading the RSS URL's (e.g. http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/med/index.rss ) into the browser directly? For myself, CraigsList RSS feeds don't load in Safari 5 either but it does seem to work via Firefox 3.6.3. I bet this might have been the WebKit (Safari 5) update that broke something.
And yes, my CraigsList RSS feeds broke in Apple Mail too (which is what brought me here). I filed a Radar bug ( rdar://problem/8161076 ) to alert Apple internal people.
