How to get .class files from a JAR at runtime

Hi. I wrote a program that load the classes it find in the "prog/components" directory. It enables me to add new components without messing with the code of the main program. Everything worked fine when wrote a batch file - but I want to create a JAR file. In the Batch file I gave the path to those files for the class loader in a loop, and it was "prog.components/" + filename[i] (I get the file names by using a FileFilter).
My question is - how can I obtain the files in the prog/component directory inside the JAR? WHen I left it as it was in the BATCH it didn't work because there wa no prog/component dir outsiede the JAR. What should I do?

Thanks man, that was really helpful! I wrote some piece of code that inserts the file names I want to an ArrayList. However, I wonder how you would make the program list all the files in the "prog.jar/prog/components/" directory? I think your code would be better tahn mine since you've coped with it before. Could you write the code snippet?

    Hi All!
    I have a scenario like XI sends xml file to j2ee application. In my J2EE application my servlet receives this xml. Will the xml file be in my HTTPServletRequest object? if so how to get that file from Request object.
    Please help me its urgent, Any code help is highly appreciated.
    My xml file will be like this:
    <ns0:Http_Message_Type_Demo
    xmlns:ns0="http://abcdemo.com">
    <Name>ABC</Name>
    <RollNo>123</RollNo>
    <Address>a-4</Address>

    somebody should help me!please
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can use HTTPServletRequest object to get the XML payload.
    BufferedReader reader = request.getReader(); //gets XML payload
    String line = reader.readLine(); // to read the XML payload line by line
    (request is the HTTPServletRequest object)

  • How to get a file from an internet site

    I have a scenario where I need to get a file from a website.
    Basically on a weekly basis one our customers are going to upload a file that contains all the information for delivery's for the coming week.
    the way this used to be done is the user would go to the website directly and download the uploaded file.
    However now we want to do it as an automatic integration using PI.
    Does anyone have an idea how to do this?  Is it even possible?

    > Thridly my issue with regards to taking a file that is uploaded to a website (it will be a csv file), can be solved by creating a webservice?
    I am sorry, I misunderstood this. I thought you want to download.
    The upload is done with a HTTP POST, so you can use the HTTP receiver adapter.
    Use the prolog and epilog to simulate the form data post.
    Use an HTTP sniffer to get the whole HTTP stream, when you upload the file to the website to see, what you have to put in the HTTP adapter settings.
    Here are some threads about that topic:

    i used package concept,that works fine.Then use packages.
    As of Java1.4, you can no longer import classes from the default package (no package declared) into classes that are packaged.
    All Tomcat classes are in packages, including the compiled JSP.
    Therefore: Your classes need to be in a package inorder to be imported and used by the JSP.
    Why the problem? If you know it works with packages, why try not to use them?

  • How to get .class files (and others) out of JAR in code?

    Hi all,
    I am packaging up several classes in a jar file. In my code I want to be able to "read" any number of jar files, and in each case pull out all the .class files to create instances of them. I don't want to unzip/unjar the files to the disk system. I basically want to create instances of the classes in the jar files in memory as if they had been loaded off the disk by themselves. Here is the sticky issue. I have a class in each jar that is "instantiated" by my plugin engine. There are other classes in the JAR file that "support" this class that is created. For instance, the class that is instantiated then has references and calls to new SomeClase() in it, and those classes are in the JAR file. So, is there some way to either "pull out" the class(es) of a JAR file without actually unjarring them to the local system and be able to create instances of them? Or, perhaps there is a way to make the classpath of the running app "see into" all the JAR files (and any sub-dirs/packages in that jar file) as if it was part of its class path? Again, these are always loaded via the Class.forName() call and newInstance(), and can not be programitcally added to the initial running application.
    Thanks.

    Not sure if this is what you are asking, but...
    You have jars that reference each other (sounds pretty tightly coupled to me, maybe they shouldn't be in separate jars, but I digress) and each has a manifest file in META-INF, right?
    To reference another jar's contents, simply add it to the Class-Path variable in your manifest. Then you can reference the classes as if they were all unjarred and slapped in the same directories.

  • Finding loaded Class file from particular Jar

    Hi,
    I have multiple jars containing same class file.
    How can I find out that the loaded Class file belongs to particular jar?

    In most cases it's possible with ProtectionDomain and CodeSource:ProtectionDomain pd = YourClass.class.getProtectionDomain();
    CodeSource cs = pd.getCodeSource();
    if (cs != null) {
        System.out.println("It came from " + cd.getLocation());
    } else {
        System.out.println("Location unknown.");

  • How to run class files in a jar independently.

    I think the problem can also be the placement of the dependant jars.do i need to keep them in "bin" folder?I am assuming that in the error message, it says "-cp" not "ûcp" Can you confirm that you entered the command as posted? Because it looks like java.exe sees the -cp as the class to execute instead of the classpath option.
    Try using -classpath instead of -cp. What version of java are you using? (java -version should give you the version).
    If the jars are in the current directory, the placement of the jar files is correct.

  • HOW TO GET OLD FILES FROM HARD DRIVE? HELP!!!!

    hello. so i changed my 320gb HD to a 1.5tb! its running good. the reason why i changed it was because it went white with a folder that had a question mark blinking! so i inserted the disk that came with it and it wouldnt come up on "select a destination" and when i would go to disk utility, it would only show "Media" (which i believe was suppose to be my hard drive), Pioneer CD-RW, and the Installation Disk. so i decided to buy a new and bigger HD and did a partition (dont what that means but it worked) and installed Leopard. now its working good. i just need help on how to get my old files from this old HD i have in hand (the 320gb). like what do i use? can i put it in a PC? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

    If the old drive is not accessible then, no, you will not be able to access all your files on it. In this case you may need to look at the following:
    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
    If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location. OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
    If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone. Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
    If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten with recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.
    The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
    Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.

  • How to use .class files from jsp

    hi i want to use .class files in my jsp program can any one help me

    so if you are using pacakges here is normal example...
    say you .java code is something like...
    package com.util;
    public Class BeanUtility{
    }place the .class file at WEB-INF/classes/com/util folder if those folders are missing create it and place the .class file there. or pacakage it as a jar file & put it into WEB-INF/lib folder
    Now in jsp you can either use jsp:Usebean tag or use normal scriplets to create an instance of the nessary class...
    here is an example for you
    <%@ page language="java" import="com.util.BeanUtility" %>
    <%
    BeanUtility bn = new BeanUtility();
    %>however,i'd suggest you to make use of JSTL / Inbuilt tag libraries /MVC 2.0 approach for better maintainance & readablity.
    Hope this might help

  • How to protect class files from being decompiled?

    You may consider looking into Java native compilers.
    I'm referring to compilers that take existing Java

  • Extracting files from executable jars at runtime

    I'm still pretty new to Java, and I'm trying to find out how (if it's possible) to access files inside jars at runtime. More to the point, I am trying to make a help file for my application, stored as a .txt file. Currently I have the text file in the same directory as the source code, and I am bundling the source directory into an executable jar. However, when the jar is executed, it cannot find the file. There's got to be some mechanism for automatically loading files that are in the source directory. This issue is confused by the fact that I am using Windows XP, and so the default home directory to execute from is the My Programs directory. Any help would be appreciated!
