How to get imaq?? what is imaq?

Ok I hope this is the right board for this, but I am almost completely clueless about the imaq packages. i have a bitmap picture, i want to convert it to 8 bit, and do things like add colors to it, or invert the colors. It seems everyone is using IMAQ vision systems for this. I am going to be getting the picture from a usb webcam. Now I know there is a free IMAQ usb installer but it says i still need the vision system for it to work.
So I guess my question is, is the vision software that i need free from LabVIEW or how do i get it?
Thanks for any help.
(I currently am using LabVIEW 8.0)

  • How to get pixel positions with IMAQ Vision for CVI

    Hi,
I am trying to connect a callback to an IMAQ window that contains an image that I generated. The purpose simply to get the coordinates of the mouse for every left_click event on that IMAQ window.
How can I do this by using the function
imaqGetPixelAddress(); and using a callback associated to the IMAQ window.
Is there an example code to help doing this in LW-CVI?
    Many thanks,
    JHH

    Hello,
You can do this by calling the imaqGetLastEvent() function with IMAQ_CLICK_EVENT as the tool parameter.
    Hope this helps!

  • What exactly do IMAQ EdgeDetection and IMAQ Quantify do?

    hi all,
a supplier sent me a piece of equipment to test with code written in Labview.
now i'm trying to figure out exactly what it is that they're
doing.  they first extract an image into the IMAQ EdgeDetection VI
and pipe the output of that into IMAQ Quantify.  now i'm trying to
figure out exactly what the 'mean value'
that IMAQ Quantify spits out is a mean value of.  hopefully someone  can help me understand this.
    thanks!
    dan

    Hello Dan,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.  The mean value that gets returned from the IMAQ Quantify is an average pixel intensity for the region that is defined by the Image Mask input of this VI.  If no image mask is defined, then the mean value will represent the average pixel intensity for the entire image.

  • What does IMAQ Start do?

    Hi all
What does IMAQ Start do? On my camera eval station, it fails under certain circumstances, and I'm trying to isolate the cause.
Background: This is an evaluation system provided to me by CMOSIS. When I use it as they delivered it, it works great. But of course, I need it to perform very differently from CMOSIS' design, and that's where the trouble starts.
System is a Lenovo ThinkCentre running Windows 7 Pro SP 1 64-bit.
NI-1433 PCIe framegrabber, both Camera Link cables running to the eval board.
    LabVIEW version 2010 32-bit,
    NI-MAX version 5.5.0f0,
    NI-IMAQ version 4.7.3,
    Camera File Generator 3.0.1
The eval system was originally designed as a 4-tap, CL Medium. To demonstrate a concept we're developing, I want to run 8-tap CL Full (really, I want 10-bit 8 tap, but that's another discussion). I used CFG to edit the original icd file and saved it as a new file. When I use NI-Max to switch to this new camera file, the program fails when IMAQ Start is called, error -1074397153 is returned; "NI-IMAQ: Cannot detect recognizable video source".  I'll attach both icd files.
I can think of two possible culprits:
    1) IMAQ Start is reading registers on the camera and finding something imcompatible with the settings in icd file
    2) Items within the bad icd file contradict each other
Since this is a Sunday, I don't expect to get an answer very quickly, so I'll keep looking for my own solution for a while. If I solve this myself (overly positive attitude), I'll post the solution.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply, Bruce.
The thing is, the camera isn't sending data yet, and it isn't expected to. After IMAQ Start, my app sends a series of bytes over the CL SerialTC link - those bytes tell the FPGA on the camera to start a snap.
The lower level VI that throws the error is imgSessionAcquire, basically the last step in IMAQ Start.  imgSession Acquire simply writes to a Library Function Node (I'm guessing to a DLL); it writes the session ID, a single Boolean bit called 'Async?' (set to True), and an integer zero ('callback').
The only thing I'm changing is the icd file.  Sometimes I forget to set the FPGA to send the right data format, but since we don't get around to sending data (I set a break point at the beginning of IMAQ Start so I could step to where the error occurs), I'm don't see why that would matter - it might be another problem I still have to solve, after I fix this one.
Still, you've given me ideas. I'm going to try putting scope probes on some test points and see if something behaves differently between the two scenarios.
    Cheers!

  • I have very thin, colored lines running vertical on my desktop monitor screen.  I don't know where they come from or how to get rid of them.  I started with one and now have three.  Can anyone give me some insight about what to do in getting rid of them?

I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

  • How do I get the location bar drop-down list to show the most recently visited page at the top? I have no idea how it's deciding what to display.

In IE when you show the drop-down list from the location bar, it show you all of your most recently visited pages in descending order with the most recent at the top. Firefox is showing me a list that I have no idea where it's getting the pages from or how it's ordering them. It doesn't update the pages or the order when I go to a new page. I have recently switched from IE to Firefox and cannot figure out how to get Firefox to do this; very annoying.

That drop down list doesn't show recently visited pages, but shows list list of most visited sites sorted by what the Mozilla devs call frecency (frequency and recency) and is based on bonus points. It is not possible to have much influence on what shows on that list.
If you want a list of recently visited sites then you can use a smart bookmark e.g. on the Bookmarks Toolbar with the location set to this smart folder.<br />
    Name: <b>Recently Visited</b><br />
    Location: <b>place:queryType=0&sort=4&maxResults=30</b><br />
You need to close and restart Firefox to make that folder work as intended.

    BUMP
Yes, I just get that message. I don't see how I could investigate this problem.
I didn't mention that this happened when I was consolidating my library, not copying files to another computer.
In other words, I'm using a "normal" itunes procedure, itunes won't complete it, and won't tell me exactly why or how to figure out how to fix it...
Is there at least some easy way to tell which files were successfully copied to my itunes music folder so I can work on moving the uncopied files?
    Can anybody help me?

On iTunes when i plug my iphone in, the bar at the bottom with contains the information about the capacity of my iphone, it has a bar called 'other' which has 4GB. I don't know what is taking up that space or how to get rid of it. please help

You can reduce the size to normal, which is about 1GB, by restoring the phone.
Backing Up, updating, and restoring your iPhone and iPod touch software
The size of this part can increase when something goes wrong during a sync, or some files can't be read anymore by iTunes.

  • My menu for "file" "tools" ,etc. has disappeared and I don't know how to get it back and keep it there at the top. Also, my e-mail (gmail) has disappeared and when I try to get a new gmail account, it doesn't "take". What to do????

I thought that my account had been hacked and that might be the reason I could not get my 2 different e-mails. Also, at the same time this happened, I could not get into Internet Explorer. I could still get into and use Open Office during the above problems

Thank you for the info re. the main menu. Your answer I used worked; however, the menu bar all the way across is solid black. The only way I can find out the names on the menu is to point the cursor from left to right over the black bar to find "file" "edit" tools", etc. What do I need to do to get these menu titles to be seen?
As regarding the GMail --the menu bar used to have an envelope symbol which was white and outlined in red. That disappeared. I googled "mail.google.com" to try to get back my email. This didn't work. I then tried to get a different email address and password--after 8-19 attempts, this never worked. My other email (sbcglobal.net) has never returned. So I don't know where that went or how to get it back

Be sure to do a backup before updating as protection. Photos should
be synced with your computer, music should be in iTunes, documents
should be backed up on your computer as should contacts in whatever
program you use on your computer. You should already have backups
of your important information to prevent loss in case of theft, crash,
physical damage. The question is not if your hard drive will crash but
when, and you iPhone is not a backup device nor fit for the only
source of any document, picture, music, movie, contact or otherwise
    irreplaceable information.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod/iphone/ipad:  File>Transfer Purchases

    Restore
Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure toback up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.
How to restore your iPod:For Windows:
    1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
    3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.
    4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
    5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
    6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
    7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
    For Mac:

  • Iphone 4s coming friday, what is the best way to get the notes content from iphone 4 to 4s without doing a restore? i want the new phone to be totally new but not sure how to get notes content across.

What is the best way to get the notes content from iphone 4 to 4s without doing a restore? i want the new phone to be totally new but not sure how to get notes content across. If I do a restore as I have when previously from one iphone to another it has shown (in settings, usage) the cumulative usage from previous phones so all the hours of calls on all previous iphones will be displayed even though its brand new. Anyone know how I can get my notes (from standard iphone notes app) to my new iphone 4s without restoring from previous iphone 4. Thanks for any help offered.

First, if you haven't updated to iTunes 10.5, please update now as you will need it for the iPhone 4S and iOS 5.
Once you're done installing iTunes 10.5, open it. Connect your iPhone to iTunes using the USB cable. Once your iPhone pops up right click on it. For example: an iPhone will appear and it will say "Ryan's iPhone."
Right click on it and select "Backup" from the dropdown menu. It will start backing up. This should backup your notes.
Please tell me if you have any problems with backing up.
Once you backup and get your iPhone 4S, you must follow these steps. If you don't follow these steps, you will not be able to get your notes on your new iPhone 4S.
Open up iTunes again then right click on your device (iPhone 4S). Once you do you will see a dropdown menu. It will say "Restore from Backup..." Select this and it'll ask for a backup, select it from the dropdown menu. For example "Ryan's iPhone - October 12, 2011." Pick that and it will restore to your backup. Do this when you get your iPhone 4S so you will not lose anything. Even though you're restoring, you're getting back, since you're getting the previous settings, notes, contacts, mail and other settings from your old iPhone. You'll still have Siri though! So, restore when you first get it. Also frequently backup your device, as it will be worth it. You can restore from a backup if something goes wrong or save your data for a future update.
Once you do that, you should have your notes on your new iPhone 4S and iOS 5.
Please tell me if you need any help.
I hoped I answered your questions and solved your problem!
