How to get the Wiki search functionality working?

hi,
Another Wiki question regarding the 7.1u1 Portal wiki functionality: What is necessary to get the wiki search functionality working? Right now when using the wiki search page all it does is return to the search form, no errors but no hits either. I guess some additional administrative work is needed to get search working?

haven't touched anything except for the wiki template jsps to change the design. it is a linux rh4 install. there are no communities on that server (yet), just the wiki portlet in a tab so far. is the wiki search dependent on the portal search server or totally separate (ie self contained wiki search)? any additional services or such that need to be started for it to work?

You don't need to repeat yourself dozens of time or use profanity to get help here.

How to get the garbage collector to work?

i have i program where i load an image scale it down and save the scaled version in an array. I do this for a whole directory of images.
After every image i set the temporary variable for the loaded image = null and call the function System.gc().
My problem is, that the garbage collector does�nt give the memory of the loaded image free and the used memory of my program grows with every loaded image.

I tried to let the Thread.sleep(10) after System.gc() but it does�nt help.

Hm yes.. i now that System.gc() is only a
suggestion.
But i know what my program is doing and that it
does�nt need the temporary image anymore after i have
a scaled down version. And the temporay image will become unreachable as soon as reading the next one overwrites your temp variable. Setting the variable to null doesn't have much effect.
It would be smarter to load the new image over the
old temporary image and not to expand the heapsize to
maximum.Then look at the possibitly of loading the next image into the same bufferedimage.

How to get the old search feature back on my calendar

Prior to the latest update I could hit the search symbol and all my calendar events would appear in date order and I could scroll through them. Now I have to open each day on its own to see what is scheduled. Any way to get the older search version back. I dislike this one immensely.

The search button (magnifying glass) in the 7.1 Calendar is just the search all by itself. Previously to 7.1 (in 7.0.X) the 'List View' was embedded in the Search button. With iOS 7.1, you should have a new button to the left of the Magnifying Glass that allows you to view your Calendar in list view while still being able to access all the other features including search.

How long has the 'hey siri' function worked unplugged?

I use my idevices and siri everyday for hours, I'm familiar with all of ios' functions. But I just discovered while using my iPhone 6 with ios 8.3 that after you hold the home button down activating siri, then ask a question, as long as you keep the siri screen open the 'hey siri' function works unplugged. Has this been the case since ios 8.0?

I can confirm that it works. My recollection is that Siri always remained open for a minute or so after a query, but you would have to push HOME again for another question. Nice feature!

How can I get the text search to work in my Robohelp 7 .chm?

The text search used to work but has stopped working.
The compile says it is "Generating full-text search data..." and I'm getting no errors.
This .chm is part of a merged .chm. The other merged .chms still have seaching ability.
I'm wondering if perhaps I'm running out of space. The .chm is 5,327 KB

I gave up and repaired Robohelp 7. Now the text search works again. One possibility is that I damaged Robohelp 7 when I installed a trial copy of Robohelp 9 and then uninstalled the trial copy. Don't know for sure and I'm not willing to try it again just to find out. I'm just happy that I've got it working again.

How does the RoboEngine Search Function Work?

When I perform a keyword search via the RoboEngine, the
results include .doc, .xls, .pdf files.
I thought the RoboEngine performed a keyword search through
the HTML pages. Was I wrong in that assumption?

My problem: The RoboEngine (v4) is not finding keywords in
the project HTML pages. For example when I search for the term SPM
(which is also a link), RoboEngine returns no result. Any ideas why
it is not returning a result?
By the way, we are working to upgrade our x.5.0.2 RH client,
and V4 RoboEnginer to 7.

I've been trying all evening to get these Wiki's on Leopard Server to work...
They are turned on, but when accessing this standard webpage at xserve.local it says:
"Group Wikis and Blogs are currently disabled. Use Server Preferences or Server Admin to enable this service."
Does someone now what to do?

This is something that (to me at least) should be trivial but I just can't
get it to work at all.
How do you get an FTP client to work?
I've tried several GUI clients as well as the terminal FTP command and they
all seem to get stuck entering passive mode - according to the log entries
they send the command.... And then nothing or a timeout, the following is
from the terminal FTP command:

In my System Preferences -> Network panel in the Proxies tab, I have the
"use Passive FTP mode (PASV) checked.
I also have checked the FTP firewall option (but I think that is only if I'm
acting as an FTP server).
I am connected to the internet via a Netgear wireless router.
I also have an old Windows laptop that also uses the same wireless router
and it can FTP quite happily!!!!!
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I've tried turning the firewall off but this does not appear to make any difference(*). Also, I have Parallels installed and I'm sharing the internet connection with this (even though Parallels itself is not currently running). Turning this sharing off doesn't seem to change anything either.
I have noticed some entries in the ifpw.log file that coincide with some of the ftp actions. Given the following terminal session:

which makes sense as the system tries to go for an active transfer.
(*) Actually, while I've been writing this, I've been playing on the terminal as well. I've found the combination of:
1) turning off the firewall
2) starting ftp
3) issuing the 'passive' command to turn off passive mode
4) issuing 'ls' etc. works
Looks like I've not been waiting long enough for the ftp client to get sick of trying the passive transfer and switching to an active one with the firewakk turned off!
Still doesn't answer the question - why does passive mode not work?

How to get the wireless router to work when i change to new modem and internet connection

I already set up my wireless router in my macbook but then moved to a new house and basically have a new internet connection. My internet connection is fine when i connect the ethernet cable form the modem to my macbook. But when i plugged in the wireless router, my computer sees it but will not connect to the internet. I lost my installation CD and i tried to re-install using the dowloaded installation but it goes into error saying i can't re-install if i don't change back to default.. anyway, maybe the solution is simple but it eludes me so please help!
In summary:
1. same macbook
2. same wireless router
3. same internet provider but new connection and modem (since i moved to a different house)

How to get the transaction by function out of VIRSA in an easy way

I'm looking for a simple solution / query to extract a list out of VIRSA compliance calibrator (5.2). The list should bring up the transaction codes by function.
e.g.
PM01 - ca87
PM01 - ip30
If possible please name the table in VIRSA where this information is stored so I can do a simple query in the SQL-view

in RAR 5.3 you can use the download function of the rule architect. There you get information about tables, functions, actions and permissions.
I don't know if you have this function in VIRSA compliance calibrator 5.2. I started my career with 5.3

How exactly does the logical shift function work?

I think I am missing something very basic here - I am trying to left shift an 8 bit unsigned integer by one place (x<<1)in each iteration of a while loop. So if I start with a number, say 18, the first iteration I get 36, then 72, 144 and after this 32, 64 and so on. I'm not able to do this apparently simple operation in LabVIEW. I tried the logical shift function and a formula node, but both dont give me what I need. The formula node appears to be close in that it gives me 18,36,72,144 but after that I get 255 rather than 32. I dont understand what the logical shift function is doing here. I have attached a vi here that shows what I am trying to do. Any help explaining the mistake I am making will be greatly apprec

You have the inputs confused. If you want to left-shift by 1 at each iteration, the "1" goes on the upper "y" terminal and the number from the shift register (the "shiftee") goes at the bottom. (see attached modification).
