    how to get the store procedure name inside this store procedure?

    Why cant you get the procedure name as hard code as the proc name is going to change.
    Are you looking for getting the parent proc name from child proc name which is getting executed within parent proc?
    Try the below:
    --Parent Proc
    Alter Proc sp_test
    as
    Begin
    Declare @s varbinary(MAX) = Cast('sp_test' as Varbinary(MAX));
    SET CONTEXT_INFO @s;
    exec sp_test2
    End
    --Child proc
    Alter proc sp_test2
    as
    SELECT Cast(CONTEXT_INFO() as varchar(100));
    --Test execution
    Exec sp_test

  • How to invoke a stored procedures every hour? How to Cron ?

    Hi. I have written a stored procedure using PL/SQL and it needs to invoke every hour to reset certain value. My question is how to cron or to invoke the store procedure every hour? I'm using Oracle 9i database.
    Please advice if anyone of you had came acrossed this scenario.
    Thanks.

    As Kevin suggests, you can use cron to schedule the job, but you probably not be able to just use sqlplus on the command line. When a job is executed through cron, it nly gets the environment information that is in the global .login procedure, and nothing that is in your own .profile. In most cases, this means that that you need to call a shell script from cron, and set some environment variables. You can do this either by calling your .profile file, or by setting them explicitly.
    Another thing to consider in using cron is that the command line used to start SQL*Plus will be visible to anyone who can log on to the UNIX box. For this reason, we run all cron jobs that execute SQL using an externally identified Oracle user.
    Your minimal shell script should look something like:
    #!/usr/bin/ksh
    export ORACLE_HOME=/your/directory
    export ORACLE_SID=yoursid
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    sqlplus -s username/password @/path/sqlscript
    or alternatively
    #!/usr/bin/ksh
    . ~/.profile
    sqlplus -s / @/path/sqlscript
    Make sure that your sql script ends with an exit command to close SQL*Plus.

    Could you help me
    How to execute the packaged procedure having out parameters in TOAD for Oralce..

    Use anonymous PL/SQL block to execute it.

  • HOW TO EXECUTE A STORE PROCEDURE THAT RETURN MULTIPLE ROWS FROM A QUERY

    I NEED TO CREATE AND USE A STORE PROCEDURE THAT IS GOING TO DO A SELECT STATEMENT AN THE RESULT OF THE SELECT STATEMENT IS RETURN IN SOME WAY TO THE REQUESTER.
    THIS CALL IS MADE BY AN EXTERNAL LANGUAGE, NOT PL/SQL OR FORMS APPLICATION. USING FOR EXAMPLE ODBC AND VISUAL BASIC. WHAT I NEED TO DO IS ADD A DATA ACCESS LAYER TO MY APPLICATION AND I ALREADY HAVE IT DONE FOR MS SQL SERVER, BUT I NEED THE SAME FUNCTIONALITY ACCESSING AN ORACLE DATABASE.
    FLOW:
    1. VB CREATE A ODBC CONNECTION TO A ORACLE DATABASE
    2. VB EXECUTE A STORE PROCEDURE
    3. THE STORE PROCEDURE RETURNS TO THE VB APPLICATION THE RESULT OF THE QUERY THAT IS INSIDE OF THE STORE PROCEDURE.(I.E. THE STORE PROCEDURE IS A BASIC SELECT, NOTHING COMPLEX)
    4. VB DISPLAY THE RESULT IN A GRID
    FOR SURE I CAN DO THE SELECT DIRECTLY TO ORACLE, BUT FOR PERFORMANCE REASONS AND SCALABILITY, I'LL LIKE IT TO DO IT USING A STORE PROCUDURES
    IS THIS POSIBLE?, HOW?
    THANKS

    Certainly, it's possible. First, define a stored procedure that includes an OUT parameter which is a REF CURSOR. Then, call the stored procedure via ODBC omitting the OUT parameter from the list of parameters. IT will automatically be returned as a result set. Syntax for both is below...
    CREATE PROCEDURE foo (inParam in varchar2, resultSet OUT REF CURSOR )
    In ODBC:
    {call foo( 'someData' )}

    END;Can you be more specific about what you're doing? That is, are you testing it in SQL Developer? Where are you entering the commands? Where are you looking for output? Do you get error messages? Does anything else (like "SELECT SYSDATE FROM dual;") work?

  • Get the body of the store procedure

    Hi All,
    THe store procedure is created successfully and I don't know how to get the definition of the store procedure. In MSSQL server I used "sp_helptext <store procedure name>" but I don't know how to get text(description) of the store procedure in ORACLE. Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    JP

    Hi all,
    I ran the following statement to get the body of the store procedure:
    select text from user_source where name = <store procedure>
    and the long text(body of store procedure) is returned back. This store procedure is created with the error message return back as "Warning: Procedure created with compilation errors". So I were wondering why the store procdure is in user_source although the creation of this store procedure is returned an error message as mentioned above. Is there anyway that we can find out if the store procedure is created with the compilation errors.
    Thanks,
    JP

    How to invoke crystal reports from Oracle forms 11g R2 along with passing parameter to it.
    how to pass parameters to crystal report, please help.

    how to pass parameters to crystal report, please help.This would entirely depend on crystal reports and you might find informations on crystal reports related communities more likely...I for one have seen crystal reports the last time about 12 years ago. And even back then I simply acknowledged it's existence instead of working with it.
    Maybe crystal reports can be invoked via a URL call which would make it simple as you'd need simply build an URL and show the report using web.show_document. But that's pure speculation. Also you might not be the first with this requirement, so the solution to your problem might be right under your nose and just a little google search away ;)
    cheers

              BEA provides examples that are shipped with the product under

              Look at the jsp directory for JSP examples that access a database and look at
              say the jdbc\oracle\storedprocs.java for an example of java code calling out to
              a stored procedure - - by combining one of the jsp database examples with this

  • How to identify the locks in oracle db objects? i dont have access to check

    How to identify the locks in oracle db objects? i dont have access to check the v$lock or v$ objects. i dont have dba access. what are the symptoms for table, row or objects lock? how v guess it would be lock?
    Thanks in advance friends..

    I believe you will have to call your DBA on the phone in that case.
    You can query something with a select ... for update nowait.
    If it raises an exception you can handle it within a when section.
    -- Running in one session
    SQL> create table t1 as select 1 col1 from dual;
    Table created
    SQL> select * from t1 for update nowait;
          COL1
             1
    SQL>
    -- now running in a different session
    SQL> select * from t1 for update nowait;
    select * from t1 for update nowait
    ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL>
    SQL> DECLARE
      2    CURSOR cur1 IS
      3      SELECT col1 FROM t1 FOR UPDATE NOWAIT;
      4    v_col1 NUMBER;
      5    locking_error EXCEPTION;
      6    PRAGMA EXCEPTION_INIT(locking_error, -00054);
      7  BEGIN
      8    OPEN cur1;
      9  EXCEPTION
    10    WHEN locking_error THEN
    11      dbms_output.put_line('Busted locking my rows!');
    12  END;
    13  /
    Busted locking my rows!
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed
    SQL> Now, surely you won't be able to tell anything else other than there was something locked there.
    But none of the details you would find in the views.

  • Only Restarting the Weblogic Server will invoke the Stored Procedure???

    Hi,
    I have written a stored procedure which is called using hibernate
    which is working fine when ever i restart the server(Weblogic). That is for each time, when i need to invoke the stored procedure i need to restart the server to invoke it then only the stored procedure gets invoked. Which is very expensive indeed. How to overcome this, is there any way to set in the weblogic server properties, so that i can dont have to restart the server every time when i need to invoke the Stored
    procedure. Any way please do look up the code as well in which i have called the stored procedure in Hibernate.

         int checkValue=0;
         Session hibSession = HibernateUtils.getSession();
         Connection con=hibSession.connection();

              cstatement=con.prepareCall("{call p_populate_cert_data(?,?,?,?)}");
              cstatement.setString(1,barCode);
              cstatement.setString(2,containerType);
              cstatement.setString(3,conditionValue);
              cstatement.registerOutParameter(4,Types.INTEGER);
              cstatement.execute();
              checkValue=cstatement.getInt(4);
              cstatement.close();
              con.commit();
              con.close();
         }catch(SQLException e){
              log.debug("The error Message is what????"+e.getMessage());
         HibernateUtils.closeSession();
