How to learn the Business Process and how it is related to BI?

Dear Experts,
How to learn the Business Process? for example the business process from finance to sales. As I am more involved in technical development of BI; I dont know or having very hard time to understand what the business process. And how the Business Process is related to BI?
I think if I don't understand the business process than it is very hard to satisfy the User requirements. If you have any documentation please feel free to forward it to [email protected]
I wish you happy new year. Thank you in advance.
Aslam.

If only plan data entered, try to delete the planning data before delete the object and then re-create it again. Otherwise you may have to leave it as is and change the description for the usage by the different company code.

  • Business process and sub process in CUP & ERM

    Hi,
We have created Business Processes and Sub- Processes in ERM. But we are not able to view the same when we create a request in CUP.
We have created the Business Processes and Sub- Processes for CUP in Roles -Attributes.These were then visible in the request.
Do we need to create the Processes and Sub-processes independently in both ERM and CUP or should it flow into CUP when roles are imported into CUP from ERM ?
    Thanks and Regards.

    Another important point:
In CUP, Sub Processes are optional, in ERM they are mandatory.
Please make sure you have some in CUP for all your processes.

  • How to map business process and enterprise service?

Recently, I read some documents about ESA. I'm confusing about the relationship between business process and enterprise service. In other word, how to map the business process to enterprise service after the business process is analyzed? Is there any methodology/rule to define business process and wrap them into service in ESA?

    Hi Sherry,
I like to add some of my thoughts about that discussion. From my point of view ESA is much more than just another BPM or Enterprise BPM. ESA is adresses six key areas and I think all of them are really needed:
    - <b>People Productivity</b> as the word itself describes...it's about portals and productivity.
    - <b>Embedded Analytics</b> has to integrate transactional and analytical content.
    - <b>Service Composition</b> is used for model-driven service composition and services orchestration.
    - <b>Service Enablement</b> is about a Enterprise Services Repository filled with business meaningful Enterprise Services and service patterns for enabled objects. Excactly this is where SAP has years of experiences.
    - <b>Business Process Platform</b> is about service enablement of all application platform objects and engines. This is the place where "BPM" for core business processes resits.
    - <b>Life-Cycle Management</b> has to cover the deployment, configuration, operation and change management for ESA based processes.
Therefore the term "BPM" is located in serveral layers of an ESA approach. On the level of <u>Business Process Platform</u> BPM is providing the choreography for core business preocesses.
At <u>Service Enablement</u> BPM needs to compose out of granular services (I would say "atomic" services)
buiness meaningful services (here we have "molecular" services).
The third level where BPM could be used is <u>Service Composition</u> because exactly this is the place
where serveral Enterprise Services could be combined to a process representation.
To come back to the discussion:
    1. The question should be how to indentify business meaningful services which could represent single process steps. ATP check, Credit card check, ... could be examples. In theory this service could be out-tasked, defined more flexible etc. This means that processes needs to be evaluated for Enterprise Service candidates. Afterwards you can check against SAP's Enterprise Services Repository for already existing Enterprise Services. The evalution for enterprise services candidates will be supported by the metodology mentioned by Kaj and David.
    2. I think domains in this context should be motivated by business and/or functional areas. Depending on the granularity. For example Order Fulfilment Services, Master Data Services, Search Services... These kind of serices can be combined again to services such as "Search of Master Data" (Search Service + Read Master Data Service) etc. or can be used to generate UI to be used in a ESA application.
    Your thoughts?
    Very best regards

  • How to map the business process in account receivable

    Hi All,
i am working on a different scenario can any body suggest me on this,

once they got the project they will coverts that amount into  securiy deposit,
    for example:
    EMD amount 1000000
got the project that amount goes to security deposit 1000000,
after work done they will rese invoice to that customer based on payment terms they will get money from customer,
if they rise 50000  invoice he will be sending  48000 rupess only remaing 2000 will be keep it as security deposit
and again they will rise 50000 he will be seding 48000 rupess only remaing 2000 will be keep it as secrity deposit once the project closed after six to eight month he will be sending that 4000 rupees.
here my client want that 4000 should not be shown as open item.
can any body suggest me how to do that in SAP
    kind regards
    kiran

    Hi Kiran
As per the business scenario and the process in SAP, you are having only three options in clearing procudure as you may be aware.
    1) standard - bill to total payment
    2) partial - partial amount against invoice(Inovice and receipt will be in open item status)
    3) residual ( new open item will be generated)
If they don't want to show the remaining 4,000 as open item in the customer account, how they want to treat in the books.
create a seperate G/L security deposits receivables and transfer the amounts to the account. Whenver you receive the amount knock off the amount

    Hi ,
I am new to SAP. I want to export Business process, sub business process, and application area from backend SAP system to my desktop in the excel or flat file format. How can I do this ?? what are the transactions to do this ?.

    Hi,
You can deactivate the business process itself if you do not want at all. So that the header will not available for the entity.

  • How to Change the  business process

How Do I change the Business process which was created wrongly for different company code? When I try to change the company code it says that currency cannot be changed as data is already posted. Since the Analysis period  is from 01/01/2008 to 12/31/9999, I am not able to select the new analysis period.
The data posted is relatively small because it was just created 10days ago.

Can anybody please give me the link on How to write the Business Process for <b>IC_C03</b>... we have done the blue print and going to write the documentation for this info provider.
So please provide the related links..........

Probably the best thing to do is go to your boss/team lead/project manager/client contact and ask them what documentation they want you to produce and what should go in it.  No-one here can guess at that.

  • How do you differentiate business process and business scenario

how do you differentiate business process and business scenario???
    pls help

    Google says;
A <b>business scenario</b> is a description of a business problem, which enables requirements to be viewed in relation to one another in the context of the overall problem. Without such a description to serve as context, the business value of solving the problem is unclear; the relevance of potential solutions is unclear and there is a danger of the solution being based on an inadequate set of requirements. A key factor in the success of any other major project is the extent to which it is linked to business requirements, and demonstrably supporting and enabling the enterprise to achieve its business objectives. Business scenarios are an important technique to help identify and understand business needs.

  • EEWB :  how to determine the business object and the extension type ?

    Hi,
I ask myself how to determine the business object and the extension type to use to add new fields in a new tab of a specific transaction ? what means each business object, does that correspond to a specific transaction ?
I need to add a new tab in the ‘BaMI’ business activity in transaction CRMD_ORDER just after the tab 'Actions' at header level.
Could you help me please to determine which business object and extension type I have to select during creation of the project and which business object category I have to select during creation of the extension (wizard) ?
    Thanks for your help,
    Marie

    Marie,
In order to determine what type of transaction you are extending, you will need to look at the customizing for the transaction.
    In the IMG:
    Goto:
Customer Relationship Management->Transactions->Basic Settings->Define Transaction Types.
You will then choose the transaction defined that you want to extend.  If you display the details of the transaction you will find an attribute called:
"Leading Transaction Category".  This tells you the general context in which the transaction is used.  The other item to view is the assignment of business transaction categories found in the maintenance screen.
This information general corresponds to one of the options that the EEWB will give you on the transaction type.
As far as extensions go, my recommendation is the following:
    - Use CUSTOMER_H Customer Header Extensions for any new fields at the header level.
    - Use CUSTOMER_I Customer Item Extensions for any new fields at the item level.
Unless you have a specific requirement to extend a segment of the transaction, I recommend placing all new fields in these segments.  The CUSTOMER_H & CUSTOMER_I segments are considered "standard" segments, that are already built into all the necessary API structures.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
    Good luck,
    Stephen

  • Relation between business process and functional area during the role search

    Hi Experts,
We have 2 functional areas in which we have different business process involved.
During the Access request, if the user selects  one functional area then business process related to that functional area should come.
Is there any functionality in GRC, where the mapping between functional are and business process to be done?
    Thanks,
    Sriram

    Hi Sri,
there is relationship between 'Business process' and 'Sub-business' process as in configuration parameter you can setup that once business process is selected only relevant sub-process will be selected.
There is no such a relation between functional area and business process.

  • Come here and discuss the business process of Third Party Purchase Order?

come here and discuss the business process of Third Party Purchase Order?
when this po  is used and the following process is what?

    Hi YuLin
It is a vague topic..anyways i will tell you one important scenario of the 3rd party order :Third Party Without Shipping Notification(its imp one)
In third-party order processing, your company does not deliver the items requested by a customer. Instead, you pass the order along to a third-party vendor who then ships the goods directly to the customer and bills you.
In this scenario, the vendor does not send a shipping notification. The incoming invoice from the vendor updates the billing quantity, so that the customer-billing document is only possible after entering the invoice from the vendor
    Function List
The following functions are provided to support the Third Party Without Shipping Notification (J55) building block:
When the order is created, the specification of material numbers, quantity and conditions takes place at item level. As the material is not available on stock, a purchase requisition is created directly within the sales order.
    Purchase Order Processing
The purchase requisition can already be automatically assigned during creation. If not, it is possible to assign the purchase requisition manually. The purchase order is created with reference to the purchase requisition. The quantity and the material are transferred from the sales order. The purchase order price can now also be determined using condition records.
    Vendor Invoice Verification
The vendor invoice verification must take place before customer billing. The quantity of the invoice updates the quantity to be invoiced in the sales order.
    Billing Documents
The billing documents are carried out on the basis of the order. Since the vendor might not deliver the exact quantity ordered, quantity adjustment takes place through the quantity in the vendor's invoice.
    Controlling
The revenue and costs will be posted to CO-PA via the billing document
    Key Points
As no shipping notification is available, the customer invoice can only be created after having finished vendor invoice verification.

  • Difference between Business Process and Workflow

    Hi all,
What is the difference between Business Process and Workflow? i have googled it and I don't really understand that complicated definition? Is there any examples to illustrate the difference between the both?

    Hi,
I will try to put here , my perspective of this. If somebody knows better, they can update further on this.
Business process is purely on the perspective of the users. It may or maynot have anything to do with the system. When a draw a business flow diagram, we dont take care of how each and every process is handled in the system. The best illustration is an example of authorisation.
Let me say that I create a Purchase requisition. Once it is released a PO will be created by procurement managerD
This is a business process. However if we look at the system perspective, it can be like this.
    1. Create a PR.
    2. Check the value of the PR
    3. If value <$100,an email needs to be send to person A, if it is $100 to 300$, an email should be send to person B and if >$300, an email should be send to B and C.
4.Once it is released, an email shoudl be send to D for creating a PO on this PR.
Here not only the process, but also how the work is delegated across  various entities of the process is mentioned.
There are softwards like VISIO which actually take care of the business process in the perspective of the entities involved in the process. A workflow is a moredetailed version of business process with the roles of entities clearly defined and hence configured well in the system.
The concept is workflow is mostly used in the processes of authorisations, business activity monitoring(BAM), etc.
Hope I make it little clear to you.
You can reward if my response is of some help to you

  • Admin View or Functionality for the Business Process Owner

    Hi
I have a requrirement that Business Process Owner (not the IT person), should be able the search the process instances and take action on them like "terminate process" or "Change Authorization".
However the Business Process Owner do not want to go through the "Guided Procedures" -> "Administration" -> "General" menu clicks.
Business Process Owner should able ONLY to get to "Maintain Processes" option of the "General" or "Overview" menu.
    Also,
Business Proces Owner would like find the process instances based on only the  Instance Name and/or Instance Status and/or  Start Date Range.
Is there a prebuilt functionality or is there way to utilize the SAP CAF delivered components by configuring the permission/roles.
IF NOT, how to access the process instance data so I can custom build this kind of functionality.
    Thanks,

    Hi Abhay,
As I know GP does not provide such a pattern which covers your requirements.
You can build this functionality in custom way.
    I propose the following:
    Use the
    public IGPProcessInstanceInfo[] com.sap.caf.eu.gp.process.rt.api.IGPRuntimeManager.getCompletedInstances(GPSearchRole searchRole, Date startDate, Date endDate, IGPUserContext userContext) ;
    and
public IGPProcessInstanceInfo[] com.sap.caf.eu.gp.process.rt.api.IGPRuntimeManager.getRunningInstances(GPSearchRole searchRole, Date startDate, Date endDate, IGPUserContext userContext)
to retrieve process instances by your search criteria.
As search role you should use the GPSearchRole.OWNER.
After this you can filter these processes by name in custom way and represent them.
To terminate a process instance you can use the following method:
    public IGPProcessInstance com.sap.caf.eu.gp.process.rt.api.IGPRuntimeManager.stopProcess(IGPProcessInstance processInstance, IGPUserContext userContext) ;
You need to use GP exposed public api:
    DC: caf/eu/gp/api
    PP: external
    POssible it helps.
    Best regards,
    Alaiksei

  • Could u explain the business process

    hi guru's
could u explain the business process scenario ,  how it works in bw . could u explain detailed, suppose to take CLINT NOKIA MOBILE AND MY EMPLOYER SOME  XX COMPANY,
    CAN U EXPLAIN DETAILED?

    Hi Prabha,
    Aggregate Definition :
An aggregate is a materialized, aggregated view of the data in an InfoCube. In an aggregate, the dataset of an InfoCube is saved redundantly and persistently in a consolidated form on the database.
    Use
Aggregates allow quick access to InfoCube data during reporting. Similar to database indexes, they serve to improve performance.
An aggregate is made up of the characteristics and navigation attributes that belong to an InfoCube. Characteristics that are not used in the aggregate are compressed.
Each component of an aggregate has to be assigned to a selection type. A selection type indicates the degree of detail to which the data in the underlying InfoCube is aggregated. You can choose one of the following selection types:
All characteristic values ("*"): The data is grouped by all values of the
    characteristic or navigation attributes .
Hierarchy level (“H”): The data is grouped by the hierarchy level node. You can
also store values on the hierarchy levels of an external hierarchy .
Fixed value (‘F’): The data is filtered by a single value .
For each InfoCube, you can set whether the aggregates of the InfoCube are compressed automatically when it is filled with data or after the roll up of data packages (requests).
    1. You are in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the Modeling functional
area. In the InfoProvider tree, navigate to the required InfoCube.
    2. In the context menu of the InfoCube, choose Manage.
    3. In the lower part of the screen, select the Roll Up tab page.
    4. Under the Aggregates group header, set the corresponding indicator in
the Compress After Roll Up field.
Standard Aggregation : This means how the key figure is going to be summarized normally for a specific set of characteristics .
Eg : Quantity across all the purchase items for a purchase Order
Exceptional Aggregation : You define how the aggregation should happen basing on a particular characteristic ( Usually time characteristic ) .
Eg : head count ( No of Employees ) in a organisation ..--> this should not be summarized on a daily basis..instead this should give a final value at the end of the month .
Aggregation is basically for keyfigures .

Question1: how we will see the based on aggreagate what querys are running
I think "aggreegate maintance screen ---proposal -
query proposal" i am right ,if it is worng pls correct me?
    Answer 1:
There are two tools that are used to analyze which aggregate is suitable for which navigation step.
You optimize the start screen of a query with the query Monitor (transaction RSRT) if you execute the function Execute + Debug.
With the trace tool (transaction RSRTRACE) you can draw several navigation steps, and process them again using the function DB Debugging (exact path: Transaction RSRTRACE > Goto > User Logs or All Logs > double-click on the log you want > DB Debugging).
    Refer The OSS note 99010
Question 2: When i am creating a aggregate what charteristics we choose i mean based on report/some thing else?
    Answer 2:
By refering the Statistical data and comparing the Proposed Aggregates we can create the aggregates.
The above RSRT and RSTRACE will be more useful tools to plan an Aggregate.
