How to make sharp inner beveled corners?

I am wonder if it is possible, when using the bevel and emboss tool in the layer style menu, to make a sharp inner corner?
I was working on creating a frame using hard chisel bevel - it makes the outside of the frame have a sharp corner, but the inside is rounded. See sample image at:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8303/7851317670_3a50a8e437.jpg

Ok, I will play with it. I was trying to apply the bevel to the frame, but obviously I need to do this in two steps.. one layer for the outer bevel, and another for the inner. It needs some tweaking.. even in the example you give Noel, there ends up being a very thin white line around the inner bevel. More noticable when working with a larger image. Looks like I will need to make the inner box slightly larger to overcome this.
Thanks for the feedback.
btw.. slightly off topic.. how did you manage to include images in your post?  I had to link to an external site to show my image. When I clicked on the camera icon in this post dialog window, nothing happens.. I get a status message at the bottom of my browser that says 'error on page'  I am using IE8 with Win7.  I do notice however, that I can insert an image using Firefox - is there some trick to getting it to work with IE8?  I realize that clicking this presents a pop-up dialog, and I have pop-ups disabled in IE, but normally I can temporarily bypass this by holding the Control key down when clicking on a pop-up link, but in this case it does not help.  Any idea?

The easiest method is to type Command + and that will make make the image larger. However you can also go to System Preferences - Displays and adjust the display resolution too. Finally, you can use Mavericks zoom capabilities as explained in:

  • How to make an object of inner class and use it ?

    Hi tecs,
In my JSF application i have a need to make an inner member class in one of my bean class.
How can i make the object of this class?(what should be the entry in faces-config)
And there are text box and check box (in the JSP) associated with the elements of this inner class. What should be the coding in JSP so that elements in the JSP can be linked with the corresponding members of the inner class ?
    Plz help.
    Thnx in advance.

    Hi
I am havin 10 text boxes in my application.
But out of 10 , 3 will be always together(existence of one is not possible without the other two.)
Now i want to create a vector of objects ( here object will consist of the value corresponding to these three boxes),there can be many elements in this vector.
So i m thinking to make an inner class which have three String variables corresponding to these text boxes that exists together.
    What can b done ?

  • "Inner bevel" filter bug? When I use "hard chisel" a striped pattern appears. Why?

    Hello,
Can you please help me out with this following issue.
In order to make some geometric shapes in my artwork look like "3D", i use the "Inner Bevel" filter and for this case, with a "hard chisel" parameter. The result shows also a stripped pattern, which I don't want. What's the cause and how do I fix this?
For an example, here is a screenshot:
    Thanks in advance!
    - Jens.

J, try right clicking the layer styles and chose Create Layers to seperate the highlight and shadow component of the bevel Emboss.   Unclip the new layers from the shape by Alt (Opt) clicking the interface between the shape layer and highlight layer.  Place a layer underneath the shape layer and fill it with black - you'll see how the highlight is constructed and extends way beyond the shape.  Invert the black layer, and you'll see the same thing for the Shadow area.
Now try Ctrl (Cmd) clicking the Highlight layer, and you'll see that the lines apear as individual selections.
I don't know why it is the way it is, but perhaps Brett or Chris can explain?  It has always been a source of annoyance to me, and that's for sure.  Noel might have some ideas, as I can remember him speaking about something similar a while back.
BTW  The only way I could get a screen grab that included the marching ants, was with the Windows 7/8 Snipping tool.  You can leave it minimised on the  task bar between snips.  Really useful.

  • How to make homemade frames?

How do you go about making a frame such as the one in this example:
    http://photoma.my-expressions.com/index.html
    Thanks in advance.

    Jack,
I originally posted this in another forum, but here it is again,
how to create a 3D frame.
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=13RZnH4exD8TdEkmW2Vs3p8ZLi9y1m0
    1. Set Background color to default white (see Note at end).
    2. Image>Resize>Canvas Size, and increase Height and Width by the same amount. This creates a white frame.
    3. Using the Magic Wand tool with the Contiguous box checked, select the frame.
    4. Set Foreground color to your frame color.
    5. Add new layer.
    6. Edit>Fill, using Foreground Color option.
    7. Window>Layer Styles. Choose the Bevels style.
    8. Choose one of the styles. In my example I used Simple Sharp Inner.
    9. To modify the bevel effect, click on the "f" symbol in the Layer's palette (truncated in my example), or from the menu bar Layer>Layer Style>Style Settings. This brings up the Style Settings dialog box where you can adjust various settings. You can also modify the frame via Layers>Layer Style>Scale Effect.
If you want the frame inside the picture (not expanding the canvas):
    1. Use the Rectangular Marquee tool to draw out the frame.
    2. Invert the selection.
    3. Proceed with step 4. above.
Note 1: In step 1, I chose white because my picture didn't have any white touching the frame. You can use any color; the goal is that when you do the Magic Wand it doesn't select anything within the picture. That's also why you check the Contiguous box.

  • Can Adobe Illustrator match inner bevel effects of inDesign and Photoshop?

Can Adobe Illustrator match or simulate inner bevel effects of inDesign and Photoshop? If it is possible, please explain how to get a soft inner bevel on type or vector shape in Adobe Illustrator CS4 that can be set up to be identical (or, at least, very close) to the layer styles of PS and the type/fill/stroke/object effects of ID. So far, I have not been able to achieve the same look with 3D extrude and bevel in AI. I want a solid red object with a soft 16 point white-tint highlight and a soft 16 point black tint shadow. If it is not something that is possible with 3D extrude and bevel settings, this something that must or could be done manually with the gradient mesh tool?

I’ve vectorized everything except the 3D red portion.

    Hi Kamal.......
Try this below SP for making project Code Mandatory........
    For Sales Order:
    If @object_type='17' and @transaction_type='A'
    BEGIN
If Exists (Select T0.DocEntry from ORDR T0 Inner Join RDR1 T1
    On T0.DocEntry=T1.DocEntry
    Where T1.Project Is Null
    And T0.DocEntry = @list_of_cols_val_tab_del)
    BEGIN
    Select @error = -1,
    @error_message = 'Please select Project'
    End
    End
    For Purchase Order:
    If @object_type='22' and @transaction_type='A'
    BEGIN
If Exists (Select T0.DocEntry from OPOR T0 Inner Join POR1 T1
    On T0.DocEntry=T1.DocEntry

    BEGIN
    Select @error = -1,
    @error_message = 'Please select Project'
    End
    End
If your PO is approved and you want to ammend it then your approver has to reject the PO first and it will come to you and then make edition and send it again......

As a novice, some things I see: The footer has redundant, unecessary images (4 large images-for your services--REDUNDANT) odd? The text part of footer: text seems close, scrunched, have some space between heading and items, DO NOT CENTER TEXT!,
One of the service links bought to page with SAME LARGE image on homepage-change picture, don't use same large image for 2 different pages.
DO NOT use CONTACT US as 1 of 5 links on menubar. Do in another creative way, and/or use footer for contact. I think this looks amateurish (my opinion of course).
If I remember, the homepage and the rest of site, have exact same page structure.--See if you can atleast change the structure of inner pages versus the homepage.
    Didn't look at enough, but..maybe...
each of your services should be a main menu link on your menubar. I would not put contact us on menubar, and you also had another menubar link with no dropdown( of course ok, but maybe could restructure)--Also your last service (on right of menubar)---why is that one different, and not included with the other services??
Seems like your menubar (items) structure could be reworked.--I would suggest, briefly looking at, to maybe have each service as a primary menu heading/title..YOU MAY NOT NEED A DROPDOWN MENU? Make sure if dropdown it is necessary.
Local security should be one of your services.
Have your footer logo, as is to left, but maybe put your footer links more to the right;;It will 'balance' the footer section
Your top logo seems too close to your main LARGE image (Which btw, seems oddly large compared to the rest of your site?)--That LARGE top image(the same palce on every same looking page), seems too big for your page--Why doen't it line up with the rest off your page content?

    Open your blank new file
Duplicate background layer. Work on this layer.
    Set foreground color chip to blue (lower left}
Go to Edit>fill layer>Use foregound color
Change foreground color to a contrasting color
Access Horizontal Type Tool, in its option bar select size and font
    Type your message
Insert picture and place it using move tool.
