How to monitor a file in oracle

Hi,
I am running a job using DBMS_job package where the job should look for a file.If the file exists only job should run.Can i use these dependencies in dbms_job package??
What is the syntax for utl_file to monitor a file wehter it exists or not
Thanks

What you want is to resubmit the job by adding n number of seconds to the original job.
Let us say your job starts at 1 AM and the file is not there yet, so the job should reschedule itself
to run at 1:30 and then at 1:30 it will check the existence of file, if the file is not there it should further reschedule itself.
There is a way to do it. Search in metalink forums .

    Hi Naveen,
    While I am searching for attaching files to oracle forms in forum, I found you. I have a question; probably you could help me out. I have a custom form which needs to have the facility to open the text files from C drive and load the data into Oracle tables.
    The custom form will be attached to Oracle apps responsibility... We are currently using forms6i.
    Could you help me out to open a dialog box which provides the users to open the text files from C drive when user clicks on a button
    I have attached d2kcomm and d2kwutil to the form. It complies at the form level
    but still it is not showing the dialog box.
    I would appreciate if you can help me in this regard.
    Thanks in Advance

    pls guide with best practiceIn 11g, there is an extensive tracing that happens for the reasons best known to Oracle only. But if you want to disable it, Coskan had published a small post mentioning an undocumented parameter(which means you must think twice before using it) to disable it- disablehealth_check* . You may want to read the complete post here,

    .dmp files are created from our Export and Data Pump database utilities and are proprietary files. You use the corresponding Import (or Data Pump) utility to import the data.

  • How to download a file from Oracle UCM using OSB

    Hi,
    How can I download a file from Oracle UCM and save it on a filesystem using OSB 11.1.1.5.
    Thanks

    UCM supplies webservice interfaces which let you retrieve the filecontent by soap calls from UCM (http://ucmhost/_dav/cs/idcplg for example). (maybe you should enable some settings on ucm to have this webservice interface getting published).
    This services for example has 2 operations getFileByID and getFileByName.
    So you can just call these services from within OSB.
    After that you need to do some tests if you eitherway need to create a file-transport business-service and call this one from your proxy service or create a messageType proxyservice (binary)  which calls this file-transport business service to be able to write fo filesystem.
    I think for the OSB book i used a jca file adapter generated in Jdeveloper and used that one to write to filesystem.

    You can to add the file when you want to monitor the size and
    you must to enable a response action when the critical theshold appear
    The response action must be a shell script like this
    #/bin/ksh
    #if you want backup
    cp /directory/file.log /backup_destination/file.log.bak
    #for clean the file and his size was empth
    /directory/file.logRemember that you want enable the credentials for host and the owner of agent had rights of read and write in the location of file

  • How to open .cmdrw file from Oracle Forms 10g

    Hi,
    We need to call *.cmdrw* file from Oracle forms 10g. Is there any way to call *.cmdrw* file from Oracle forms 10g?
    Thanks for the help.
    Viishnu Nekkanti

    In case you want to open a .cmdrw with its associated application you can use the following procedure:
    webutil_host.NonBlocking( 'rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler ' || client_filename );This works for every file where a program has been associated to its file extension. (Adobe Reader for *.pdf, Microsoft Word for *.doc, Microsoft Excel for *.xls and so on)

  • How to Manage Archive Files in Oracle 10g

    Dear all
    I have 10g Database server running in Archive Mode, there are huge number of archive files have been increased ,
    (1) how can i find old and obsoleted Archive files that will not be needed for recovery in future.so that i can delete them inorder to free space.
    (2) How to manage Archive Files .
    Kindly help
    Thanks
    Regards
    Farnaw

    Hello,
    (1) how can i find old and obsoleted Archive files that will not be needed for recovery in future.so that i can delete them inorder to free space.It depends on your Backup policy.
    If you use RMAN you can follow the advices previously posted, if you use "user managed" Backup then, you don't need the
    log files archived before the begining of the last full backup of your database.
    To know when the archived log was generated and the first change included in it, you can query the v$archived_log as follow:
    alter session set nls_date_format='DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS';
    select recid, name, first_change, first_time, completion_time
    from v$archived_log;
    (2) How to manage Archive Files . You must backup the archived logs so as to be able to apply them. After making a safe backup of them on a tape, they can be
    deleted from disk.
    Of course you can also keep the last archived logs on your disk (beside of backup them on tape) so that you don't have to
    restore them and save time if you need them.
    It depends on your needs and the free space you have.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • How to store image files in oracle DB

    Hi,
    I am new to working with database.
    Please let me know how to store image files in Database using insert command.
    Thanks,
    Ramesh Yakkala.

    Hi,
    You need to create a directory object to import these files:
    Take a look on the example below:
    eg:
    CREATE TABLE MY_IMAGE_TABLE (
    ID NUMBER,
    NAME VARCHAR2(20),
    IMAGE BLOB);
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY IMAGES AS '/tmp';
    GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY IMAGES TO PUBLIC;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE load_file_to_my_table (p_file_name IN MY_IMAGE_TABLE.NAME%TYPE) AS
    v_bfile BFILE;
    v_blob BLOB;
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO MY_IMAGE_TABLE (id, name, image)
    VALUES (1, p_file_name, empty_blob())
    RETURN doc INTO v_blob;
    v_bfile := BFILENAME('IMAGES', p_file_name);
    Dbms_Lob.Fileopen(v_bfile, Dbms_Lob.File_Readonly);
    Dbms_Lob.Loadfromfile(v_blob, v_bfile, Dbms_Lob.Getlength(v_bfile));
    Dbms_Lob.Fileclose(v_bfile);
    COMMIT;
    END;
    SQL> execute load_file_to_my_table('myfhoto.jpg');Cheers
