How to monitor ODI in Grid Control

Hello
We are using Grid Control 11.1.0.1.0 and ODI 11.1.1.5.0.
We were previously using a grep command on the server that ODI was running from to monitor if it was up or not.
Since the (OEM) upgrade we have lost this metric and would like to take a more elegant approach to monitoring the state of ODI.
(We didn't install ODI as part of a WebLogic Server install, it is stand alone and therefore the plugins or usual way to monitor are not relevant to us.)
Is there a way I can have Grid (via a UDM for instance) go into the database and query for a process?
If the process is found then no alert is sent. This also means that we will only have to blackout the database during cold backups instead of the whole server.
Hopefully this makes sense and hopefully someone can give me a few hints / tips on how to achieve this?

You can find info about the backups in sysman.mgmt$ha_backup. But only one entry per database can be seen. So only for the latest rman job you will find info here.
You could also start using a rman catalog that will contain all backup info (example http://oracleinstall.wordpress.com/2011/06/03/oracle-11g-rman-catalog-setup/). You can create reports/queries on the rman repository to get the info you need.
Or even better: create a rman repository and schedule the rman jobs using Grid/Cloud Control.

This account would be provided to a monitoring team to view only these metrics and of course wont have rights to modify anything in the database so only read only access...
I managed to create a read only account from Setup----Administrators---Create...
So doing the above i have created the read only user from the appropriate options, now my only question is that i do not want to give read only access for any other metrics apart from the ones i mentioned above..
Is it possible to set only the above five metrics.

How to monitor ODI 11.1.1.5 standalone agent with Grid?

Hi.
I have just finished installing ODI 11.1.1.5 with the stand alone ODI agent.
I need to get Grid to monitor it but I am not sure how to go about it.
can it be done?
I have tried :
setup
agent
find agent ... but the Add drop down doesn't include anything resembling ODI agent.

Monitoring Coherence from Grid Control 11g

Hi folks!
I have setup Grid Control 11g and I have a couple of hosts where I have installed Coherence.
After installing the agent I just can see the host being monitored. I tried to add the target manually. It asks me for a JMX remote port. The default seems to be port 3000. However this is not active on the Coherence machine.
I started the Coherence Cache Server (cache-server.sh) with the options to switch on the remote management but I still see nothing and have a Metric Collection Error.
Any ideas?

Coherence monitoring on EM Grid control.

Coherence monitoring appears to work with EM connected to a Coherence management node hosted outside of weblogic. When we tried to setup monitoring for a cluster with all members within WebLogic domain (with one of the nodes enabled for management), monitoring could not be enabled despite applying patches. Once we added a management node outside weblogic domain, but part of the same coherence cluster as the nodes within WebLogic, Enterprise manager provides metrics for all nodes in the cluster. Is this the preferred and supported approach? Has anyone enabled monitoring for coherence nodes in WebLogic Domain?

I think Metalink NOTE:280116.1 covers changing the ias_admin password when it's forgotten.
Basically, you edit $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/j2ee/config/jazn-data.xml and remove the <credentials> property.
Then you can reset the password with: $ORACLE_HOME\bin\emctl set password reset <new password>
Or, sounds like you can put the password into jazn-data.xml (NOTE:280587.1) by editing the <credentials> property:
Replace the existing encrypted password with the new password.
Be sure to prefix the password with an exclamation point (!). For example:
<credentials>!mynewpassword123</credentials>

You will be needing all three zip files. It will contain all files needed for installation of a repository Database Instance, the Management Server and an Management Agent.

How to access to EM Grid control from outside browser

I want to access to EM Grid Control console from an other place, outside of my office but I can't, I configured my firewall with the default ports 1159,1830.
I don't know if I have to add other port, I can't understand because I Have an other application e-business that I can access without any problems.

The question was how to use OEM, not behind a load balancer, to monitor other targets which are behind one or different load balancers.
For example, to monitor :
Forms on server A and B behind load balancer LB1.
Forms on server C and D behind load balancer LB1.
Forms on server E and F behind load balancer LB2.

How to move an OEM grid control install?

oem: 10.2.0.5
Redhat: 5
our oem server is going to be taken away and used for something else. we want to clone the oem install and move it. Reinstalling OEM on redhat 5 is difficult. It has to be done at the command line since 10.2.0.1 is not compatible with redhat 5 and we have to upgrade to 10.2.0.5.
if we move the database, and oem install to a new server, what needs to be done with the oem install to make this work? I can get the database started pretty easily. We would have to change IPs around. What files do we have to go into to change IPs?

I did read the installation and configuration guide. I don't see anything about how if I install a 10.2.0.1 OEM on linux 5(which is not compatible) and at the command line to make it work, then do a command line upgrade and configure it to 10.2.0.5, is this easy to clone to a new server.

How to change 10 G Grid control sysman Password?

I am running 10 G Gridcontrol on a Linux machine. We were running it long time back for learning purposes and was shut down later. We were tryin to access the
EM console after starting the DB. Unfortunately it wont allow us to login. We used the sysman account for login and failed to login. I checked the account status of the Account and it is Open. I am kind of lost in how to get the access issue fixed.
I would appreciate if some one could guide me.

1) stop all the opmn,agent and Login to database and change the sysman password by command
alter user sysman identified by <new_password> account unlock
2) Make a copy and change the following parameters in $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/config/emoms.properties
eml.mntr.emdRepPwd=newpassword
oracle.sysman.eml.mntr.emdRepPwdEncrypted=FALSE
3.) Make a copy and edit the $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml file
with the newpassword and change ENCRYPTED from TRUE to FALSE.
The line to look for is
<Property NAME="password" "newpassword" ENCRYPTED"FALSE"/>
4) opmnctl startall

Listener & grid control after upgrade to 11.1.0.7

going from 10.2.0.2 to 11.1.0.7 on aix 5.3
On our test server we have about 8 databases that are all currently using the 10.2 listener. I've upgraded one of our very basic test databases to 11g this morning, and for the time being just created a new listener11g that listens to different port. when I start it, the log file is being created in ORACLE_BASE/diag/tnslsnr/<server>/<lsnrname>/alert/ instead of the default ORACLE_HOME/network/logs I didn't tell it to create the listener log there, anyone else have this issue?
Also, my databases are all currently being monitored by OEM Grid Control and NOT DB Control. What steps should I take to get that running correctly again after the upgrade? Delete the target database and add it back after the upgrade? Sorry ahead of time if there is a meta-link doc for this, I've searched briefly and came up empty handed.

well, from what I read about the ADR architecture it wasn't clear that the listener log would move. the metalink documents for the listener log still state that the default log directory is ORACLE_HOME/network/log as well.
And seeing how I supplied a different value for diagnostic_dest during the upgrade of said database it didn't make much sense to me how it came to the decision to stick it where it did. I'd say it is using the value from $ORACLE_BASE during the install.
It would be helpful if their docs didn't contradict themselves constantly.
