How to monitor OOM error

Hello Experts,
Periodically I'm having problems with some Enqueue-Locks and Communication Channels JDBC Sender stop processing messages.
Perform the procedure in item 29 of the SAP Note "831162 - FAQ: XI 3.0 / 7.0 IP / IP 7.1 JDBC Adapter" Communication Channels and JDBC Sender return to work.
I've checked the message size and the largest is only 1MB.
Also no error in the SQL Query in the database.
How do I track the OOM errors that generate the Enqueue-Locks?
Tks in advance.

Hi Pedro. How are you?
There is option of "Database Locks" in this path:
RWB -> Component monitoring -> Adapter Engine -> Engine Status button (near of CC Monitoring) -> Database Locks
Also you can see Java locks in the NWA tools (only PI 7.1, I guess).
NWA -> Availability and Performance Management ->Resource Monitoring -> LOCKS(system locks java).
I hope it helps you.
Best Regards.
Bruno

• How to monitor Spool errors/Spool request in CCMS

Hi @ all,
I have configured our Solution Manager system to monitor the spool system in the CCMS environment. However I also want to monitor spool errors/spool request in the *CCMS. I have already search in SDN for a solution but couldn´t find any. Do you have any idea how I could monitor the spool errors in CCMS (like in the transaction SP01) ?
Kind regards

• CONF21 Inbound Idoc - How to Monitor the Error

I have just set up the idoc conf21 - and everything works perfectly well (I ticked "immediate update" via CI41 in order to avoid using CIP2).
I have simulated an error in the ILE01 unit of measurement I putted 'XXX'.
I launched the idoc via we19 and the idoc appears in status 53 green. ( This is normal because the status 53 represents only the fact that function module KK2A_GET_DATA_FROM_IDOC has runned without errors. It does not report errors possibly occuring in PROCESS_CC2_MESSAGES_PARALLEL.)
Obviously due to the 'XXX' the confirmation did not happen. The record disappeared from the table RUECK.
Question : How can I monitor this type of error ?
Thanks
Philippe

Go to CO16
reprocess - change the *** in unit of measurement to H
back - the line shoulb be green now
save
and up this is it !

• How to monitor OSD TS failure and get alert or report?

How to monitor OSD TS failure and get some alert or generate an report?
We have SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 with MDT 2013.
I have checked the OSD reports in SCCM and everyone is emty, where do SCCM get data to the what to activate?
(I thinking of "Task Sequence - Deployment Status" reports)
I am not sure people read report manually or lock at the MDT monitor view. So best I think that generate an email or incident in Service Manager when an TS fails.
We do have SCOM, SCSM, SCO.
Is there anyone that can point what way or what option I have?
/SaiTech

Specifically you could use this Status Message Query syntax to monitor your Task Sequences for errors:
select stat.*, ins.*, att1.*, att1.AttributeTime from SMS_StatusMessage as stat left join SMS_StatMsgInsStrings as ins on stat.RecordID = ins.RecordID left join SMS_StatMsgAttributes as att1 on stat.RecordID = att1.RecordID inner join SMS_StatMsgAttributes
as att2 on stat.RecordID = att2.RecordID where att2.AttributeID = 401 and att2.AttributeValue = "DOJ200A1" and stat.SiteCode = "DOJ" and att2.AttributeTime >= ##PRM:SMS_StatMsgAttributes.AttributeTime## order by att1.AttributeTime desc
Just replace DOJ200A1 with the Deployment ID of your Task Sequence and DOJ with your SiteCode.
If you want to generate an alert if the TS fails then you could run a script that calls a utility (or similar) which sends a pre-configured email to a specified address (as an alternative to Torten's response). This could be placed in the built in error
logging section of the SCCM integrated MDT Task Sequence when it fails which I assume you are using (right at the bottom, called Gather Logs and StateStore on failure).
There are heaps of ways of generating an email from a TS and controlling error logging just do a search - as you have Service Manager you could even use your instance of Orchestrator and call a run book in your TS which does the email?
Cheers
Damon

• After upgrading HANA from rev. 69.1 to rev.72 OOM errors occure during HDB startup

Hello,
we upgraded our HANA scale out system from rev. 69.1 to rev. 72.
~4 hours after the upgrade our HDB crashed with OOM errors on the master indexserver.
Since than we are trying to start it back up and face OOM errors during startup in the index rebuild phase:
The errors clearly state the HANA runs out of allocatable memory for Pool/IndexRebuildAllocator during startup.
It looks like HANA requires more memory during this phase compared to rev. 69.1
Our Master node has 512GB of physical memory and the Allocation limit is set to 95% of this (default).
Here is what we read from our logs during startup:

In order to fix this bottleneck, we first need to get HDB started, but how?
Is there a way to aviod that row store tables are being loaded during startup? (this would allow enough memory for the index rebuild)
Is there a way to skip the index rebuild during startup?
Can we increase the allocation limit to more than 95% of the physical memory? (e.g. we could configure swap space to be utilized, just to get over the edge of this during the startup in order to bring our HDB back up and work on reducing the memory requirement on the master index server)
Kind Regards
Florian Wittmann
ps. we also have a call with SAP.

To update everyone who runs into the same issue during startup of HANA, here is the solution that has worked for us. But I highly recommend to have such an approach reviewed by SAP service before I you perform this!
For us the only chance left to bring HANA up was to configure swap space on the master node. (We configured 20GB...we could not know how much memory it would need during the startup to get passed the index rebuild, so that was just a guess that turned out to be just enough for us to get passed that memory peak during the startup phase).
After that we adjusted the custom parameter file /sapmnt/<SID>/global/hdb/custom/config/global.ini
and maintained a global_allocation_limit that we manually calculated as (512GB physical mem. + 20GB swap mem.)/0.95
e.g.
[memorymanager]
global_allocation_limit=517530
Than we started HANA up again and made use of the page file during the index rebuild in the startup phase...of course this dramatically slows down the startup...well you do an index reorg using swap space...but after 1hour we got passed the index rebuild and memory utilization went down again. (With this error we learned that HANA has a significantly higher memory consumption during startup and the upgrade from SP 6 to SP 7 must have even increased this slightly, since we managed to startup our HANA db before upgrading without this issue, but it was not the root cause!)
Now that we had HANA back up, we investigated memory consuming indices together with SAP, and with the help of below query, we identified row store table RSMONMESS to hold 25GB of 2ndary indices!
select table_name, round((sum(index_size)) / 1024 / 1024, 2) as
SIZE_IN_MB, count(*) as number_of_indexes from M_RS_INDEXES group by
table_name order by SIZE_IN_MB desc
Before droping 2ndary indices:
TABLE_NAME;SIZE_IN_MB;NUMBER_OF_INDEXES
RSMONMESS;30.883,8;6
drop index SAP<SID>."RSMONMESS~AXX";
drop index SAP<SID>."RSMONMESS~TIM";
drop index SAP<SID>."RSMONMESS~AU1";
drop index SAP<SID>."RSMONMESS~RID";
drop index SAP<SID>."RSMONMESS~AXY";
After drop:
TABLE_NAME;SIZE_IN_MB;NUMBER_OF_INDEXES
RSMONMESS;5.708,43;1
With that change we reset our custom parameter on global_allocation_limit and went back to the default (95% of main physical mem.), removed the swap file and started up HANA again...and during this startup we managed to stay in our global_allocation_limit and bring HANA back up again!

• How to populate the Error stack during error records in field level routine

hi,
I am capturing the error records in Field level routine in transformation. now i want these records to reflect in error stack.
i am using 'Append monitor-rec to MONITOR' at the moment but i cant see any records in error stack.
but when i am using the same statement in start routine i am getting records in error stack.
can anyone please help as to how can i populate error stack through field level routine?

Hi,
Try to do it in the end routine instead of the field routine.
It should work.

• How to monitor partial payment

Dear All:
In my case, I always pay more money for original AR because I forgot partial payment had been done before. How I monitor AR overpayment when past partial payment exist?
Thanks for the help suggestion first. Sorry for error description above.
1.first for specific overdue analysis policy of company, we use partial payment.
2.And then the question comes. According to contract item, we send invoice to customer only once and receive payment in several step. Each time income received, we use partial payment to clear the AR (to relate payment with original AR). But one customer may have some contracts with us, it always pay for all contract in certain amount at one time. We shall manually divide amount for each contract. If user forgot one contract was paid partially before, he may clear the AR totally at sencond time and then the first payment will still outstanding in open item. Finally we can find many partial payments received but can't refered to any invoice.
So we are finding a way to control AR clearing to check whether partial payment exist and if the total amount is over original invoice it couldn't be cleared.
Thanks to give me some suggestion.

Hi...
You always have the otion of displaying vendor/customer balances(FK10N/FD10N) to find out the balances and the vendor/customer line items(FBL1n/FBL5N)
When you pay your vendors select residual payment so that the system will select the residual item remaining to be paid to avoid any confusion.
Its a good business procedure that you should not be paying your vendors more unnecessarily.

This can occur if a COMMIT or ROLLBACK was executed within a SELECT loop (which closes all opened cursors), followed by another attempt to access the cursor (for example, the next time the loop is executed).
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHEN I AM COPYING FROM CUBE, WHY SAP BW will generate u201Cinvalid cursoru201D message. Not sure whether it is normal, i.e., not a real error,
My cube copying (from cube 1 to cube 2) is a straightforward procedure:
a. Select Copy from Cube 1 and create Cube 2.
b. Create Export Data Source from Cube 1 Menu.
c. From Cube 2 menu, Create Update rules, In update rules select DataSource as 8Cube1.
d. Create an Info Package for 8Cube1 under Infosource/DataSource and then run the package.
Certain no of records e.g.. 3248 or so get loaded and then the error messages are generated, why?
Really appreciate any help. I tried SM37, does not give any clue. I also Tried SM50, it shows me the process, but I still cannot figure how to generate developer trace.
Since behavior is same for several cubes I tried, something else also needs to be done, I do not know what???

• How to monitor page hit rates?

I see a lot of references in docs and white papers to cache hit rates for the Parallel Page Engine, but I've not found any documentation on how to monitor this system-wide (only how to turn on portlet statistics and get a manual page-by-page look at cache success/failure).
Is there any way to determine the cache hit rate for the PPE?

Stephen,
I'm sorry you seem to be experiencing some problems with the support and documentation of the portal software.
The link above was posted on May 1st 2002, and was posted as an absolute link rather than a dynamic product link. As the document name is revved the link will change, hence why an old link from the forums will no longer work.
The document you seek is here. I assume that by referring to webcache you mean that when you add the XLF logging format options webcache complains about x-ecid (for example). This indicates that you have not applied the core iAS patchset which is required to allow webcache to understand these extended log parameters. I believe that the document refers to this as a requirement to get 'full functionality' - perhaps that is a little esoteric, I'll change it in the next rev.
If you continue to be unsuccessful in deploying this note please let me know what errors you're seeing and I'll see what I can do. I'm working on an end-to-end performance kit at the moment that will supercede this document so I'll take your comments on board when revving this area.

• How to monitor background jobs automatically

Hello,
How to monitor background jobs automatically
(we have more then 100+ jobs in a month and some jobs are repeating 4 - 5 times in a same day ) Now i am searching any salutation for monitor background jobs automatically
Let me know the  options
Thanks,
Suresh

Hi,
If your batch job is creating a file in SAP and sending it to another system. These are some things you could do, if you have tools and resources available.
1) When the job ( SAP program ) runs to create the file, ensure there is no file already existing in the landing zone ( AL11), if it does then do not over write, just throw an error, because the last file created did not leave the landing zone, because the other system or middle were did not pick it up. Usually when the middleware or third party system picks up your file from the landing zone, it may delete the file, so next time fresh file can be picked up. It is always good to have date and time stamp on the file that you create on the landing zone, so we could uniquely track which files were creates, when it was created and transmitted.
2) Lets say your job created the file in the landing zone, the FTP program or what ever service or tool that you use to pick the file, if it is running as per design, then it should pick it up, if not you need to see why it is not running, usually the FTP softwars like GIS will throw an error if no file is found, and we could track them.
I am sure there are many other ways to handle if the file really left the landing zone or not. Something to think about. thanks

• How to monitor RAC services and nodeapps in Grid Control

Hi,
I have created a number of RAC service names such as GL on a 2-node RAC and would like to use Grid control 10.2.0.2 to monitor the availability of those services and nodeapps. I was not able to find anything in Grid Control that would allow me to configure that. What are being monitored now are the listeners, database instances and nodes. Would it be possible to monitor more than just the RAC listeners, instances and nodes?
thanks.

I don´t think that there is an out-of-the-box metric. However, CRS monitors your services and Grid Control monitors CRS errors. If you need more granular monitoring, I have 2 suggestions:
1) user callouts:
[http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/rac.111/b28254/hafeats.htm#RACAD7133]
2) extending oracle enterprise manager
I have written a paper on how to extend oem at [http://www.ora-solutions.net/web/papers/]
"Extending Oracle Enterprise Manager to collect HP-UX glance data"
You can follow the instructions to build a new target type called "RAC_SERVICE" and add your serivces as targets, e.g. S_BATCH, S_ONLINE, S_HR.

• How to rectify the errors in RWB

Hi all,
After executing the scenario ,if i get any errors ,how to rectify those errors,can you tell me the process,
Regards,

HI
XI runs on an Application Server with double stack (JAVA/ABAP).
Some components of XI runs on JAVA and some on ABAP:
JAVA STACK:
Integration Builder
SLD
Adapter Engine
Runtime Workbench
ABAP STACK:
Integration engine(IE) and Business Process Engine(BPE).
Abap stack is monitored using sxmb_moni / sxmb_moni_bpe
Java stack is monitored by using Message monitoring, End-End monitoring, Component Monitoring Performance monitoring from RWB.
Java stack monitoring can be done in Runtime Work Bench.
In RWB, you can have Message Monitoring and Component Monitoring.
In Message Monitoring, we can find the the message with status and in "Audit Log" we can have a complete log of processing done for that message. And in Compnent Monitoring, you can find the statuses of all components in Integration Server.

• OOM error using FB 4

Hi, getting OOM error when doing a build of a project using
flash builder 4 standalone (on windows 7, 64bit).
I've tried all manner of increasing the heap size. Below is the stack trace from the log file (in .metadata/.log). One thing i did notice is the java.version. This jre is not one i have installed, so it must be the one which is installed with the product (in FLEX_HOME/jre). Now, how does one control the vmargs for this invocation? I tried messing with FlashBuilder.ini, as well as jvm.config in the sdks directories; to no avail.

Just to simplify, I created another mobile project in 4.5 prerelease, this one is a "supported" ActionScript only project, with the same results. The code for the entire iphone project is below. I'm including lccsFlash.swc (10.1 version). Image of the result on the phone is attached (same as before).
The code is here:
private var debugtext:String;
private var auth:AdobeHSAuthenticator;
private var txtfld:TextField = new TextField();
private function myLccsTrace(debugStr:String):void{debugtext += debugStr +
"\n";txtfld.text = debugtext;
private function updateDebug(event:Event):void{txtfld.text = debugtext;
public function ActionScriptMobile(){
super();
// support autoOrientsstage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
startConnect();
private function startConnect():void{DebugUtil.traceFunction = myLccsTrace;
DebugUtil.suppressDebugTraces=
false;debugtext +=
"Starting viewactivatehandler... \n";
debugtext +=
"Creating auth \n";auth =
new AdobeHSAuthenticator();auth.userName =
"Guest";auth.requireRTMFP=
false;
cSession =
new ConnectSession();debugtext +=
"Created ConnectSession \n";cSession.authenticator = auth;
cSession.roomURL=
http://collaboration.adobelivecycle.com/MYACCT/MYROOM;cSession.addEventListener(SessionEvent.SYNCHRONIZATION_CHANGE, updateDebug);
debugtext +=
"Trying login... \n";cSession.login();
debugtext +=
"After login \n";
txtfld.width=800;
txtfld.height=1200;
txtfld.text = debugtext;
this.addChild(txtfld)  }
Same error as before. Also, the "guk=" is from the LCCS code after the login(), I'm not adding any additional parameters, all the code is above.
