How to read current using labview 7.1 from Keithley 2400

Hi, All,
I am trying to read current out from labview 7.1. The program I wrote is attached (program.gif). But when I run this program, the error message poped out when it reach the function of GPIB write (error.gif). Can anybody help to point out what's wrong with this program?
Thanks a bunch!

Hi, Dennis,
Thanks for replying. You reminded me of putting 24, which is the GPIB address of Keithley 2400, in the front panel. Now this error doesn't occur, but it failed when it's trying to scan the result.
I attached the program in this post. I attached the figure because i thought people couldn't open the code if they don't have the right version of LV.
Thanks,
Joyce

  • How to determine current used ip address is from company wifi

    Hello guys, currently doing an attendance app (ios / android) for user to check in / out (will capture location coordinate, current used IP and etc, then send back to the server). Besides will use C# web as back-end reporting.
    At back-end reporting how do I determine or check the IP address being used is from company WiFi or not ?
    The purpose of this is because ensure the user check in / out within the office area. On the other hand, sometimes user will outstation at client side and check in / out by using the app (ios / android).
    Besides, any better ways to do this ?
    Thanks

    Hi loonloon,
    Based on your description, your case related to ios / android app. Both of them are third-patry mobile product. I am afraid this is out of our support. Thanks for your understanding and effort.

  • How are you currently using video with marketing automation?

    I manage an educational site through Brightcove called Video Marketing Academy. I would like to create a course to tackle the challenges of using video with a marketing automation platform. I’d love to know how you are currently using video with marketing automation, what your results have been, and what are some of the challenges that you are running into?
    I understand some of this maybe platform specific, but I would like to understand the challenges and help from a strategy and best practice perspective.
    videomarketingacademy.brightcove.com

    Well you certainly hit some good ones. When it comes to marketing automation I'm always game for more flexibility with anything, for instance I would love to have more conditional options on form processing conditions, and I know that has nothing to do with video but it goes to your answer, anyway that you can give a marketer more flexibility with filters or conditions or what not the better when it comes to lead scoring, campaign options, and reporting the better.
    If one could integrate Video reporting into Eloqua I think that would be cool, I know that would be very challenging because of how Eloqua reporting works, but it would make it a one stop shop which isn't bad,

    Hi All,
    How to read current line number in function module sourrce code?
    regards,
    Anuj

    If you have new editor you would be able to see the line number.
    Or in the Dump screen - there is a button called Debugger - click that you would be able to see the code where dump has occured..  you would be able to find the line number from there.
    To get the new editor with line number , you need to change the settingsin SE38.

    Below is a link that describes what an instrument driver is.
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/119B3B705B84B041862567D90074F425?opendocument&node=D...
    The instrument driver found from the Instrument Driver Network for this instrument is not maintained by National Instruments. It can be downloaded from the Keithley website. If you search the Keithley site for software drivers, they do have a LabVIEW driver that should contain an example of programming with their VIs. Otherwise, you can search for examples on the Keithley site, and they do have example programs (however, it may or may not be the functionality you are looking for).

  • Can I program using Labview without HW from NI?

    I am a newbie about LV. So I ask the simple question:
    Can I program using Labview without HW from NI?

    You can not only program in LabVIEW without hardware from NI, but you can program without hardware period. You can also write programs for other brands of hardware. You can even program for NI hardware with other programming languages.
    Get some training, and a copy of "LabVIEW for Everyone" before you get too far. These are great resources for learning LabVIEW.

    Your first task should be to just be able to send commands to the instrument.  Do as Dennis suggested and download the drivers for the instrument and get familiar with them.  Build up small VIs that do little tasks with those drivers so you can get used to them.  Then worry about your main interface.

  • How to read BMP085 in LabView?

    Hello,
    I have a project which includes readings from barometric pressure sensor using LabView ONLY.
    I searched for such component and the only one that I found with a reasonable price was the BMP085 (DataSheet_BMP085).
    The problem is that I could not manage to understand how this component can be read in LabView, I found few examples in C++ but could not understand them enough to convert the code to LabView.
    (Example)
    My questions are:
    - I have 2 ways of communication with this component:
       1. RS232
       2. Digital module through cDAQ (DI/O: NI_9403), which one is prefered for this purpose?
    - Could anyone explain how the code should be written, or just if it's not too much of an effort to write a simple code for this application?
    Thanks.

    A serial port cannot be used as an I2C without some converter.  Maybe there's one out there.  But you might want to check out the I2C/SPI USB modules by NI.  Their API is pretty easy to use as well.

  • How to read OVD using java

    Hi all,
    how to access OVD using Java?
    Thanks,
    Kumar.P

    Hi,
    You can just normal LDAP API codes to connect to OVD the same way you connect to other LDAP servers.
    PFB sample code for connecting to OVD.
    Properties props = new Properties();
    try {
    props.load(new FileInputStream("LdapCredentials.Properties"));
    } catch (IOException e) {
    // TODO
    ldapurl = "ldap://hostname:390";
    ldapUser = "cn=orcladmin,ou=Org12,dc=ovid,dc=com";
    userPassword = "welcome1"; //"Killtheking123456";
    userContext = "ou=Join1,dc=ovid,dc=com";
    Now, you have to get Directory Context as shown below.
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
    "com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, ldapurl);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, "simple");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, username);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, password);
    //Initialize the Directory context
    DirContext dCtx = new InitialDirContext(env);
    Then you can perform search operations or new user creation etc., as you wish.
    Does this help?

  • Check how many licenses currently used - Business Objects 11

    Hi there,
    We are coming up against the "all your licenses are currently used" problem from time to time so we're trying to narrow down some of the possibilities..
    Is there any way through the central management console to check (after a report has just been run through the RAS) how many licenses are currently used? Like I can see, how many sessions are open, how many documents are open, connections etc. but do any of these correlate to licenses?
    Any help appreciated.

  • How do I call a LabVIEW created DLL from within Microsoft Excel (VBA)?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get Microsoft Excel 2003 to call a function stored in a dll that I created using LabVIEW 7.1.  The function is very simple and is called "binary_file_to_ascii".  Basically it just reads a LabVIEW created binary spreadsheet file and outputs the columns as float arrays.
    The function arguments are as follows:
    INPUT : String that contains the path to the binary spreadsheet file
    OUTPUT : Number of rows in the spreadsheet
    OUTPUT : Number of columns in the spreadsheet
    OUTPUT : Float array containing the elements in column 1
    OUTPUT : Float array containing the elements in column 2..
    OUTPUT : Float array containing the elements in column 11
    However, for some reason there is something wrong with my VBA code and/or the way I created the DLL in LabVIEW because Excel crashes when it loads my DLL.
    What do I need to change in my VBA code or my LabVIEW DLL build settings to fix this?
    I've attached to this post a ZIP file that contains all my code and a sample binary file.
    Your help with this will be much appreciated.  Thanks!
    Richard
    P.S.  Here is the VBA code I'm using:
    Private Declare Function binary_file_to_ascii Lib "C:\temp\binary_file_to_ascii\binary_to_ascii.dll" _
    (ByVal binaryFile As String, ByVal nrows As Long, ByVal ncols As Long, ByVal column1 As Variant, _
    ByVal column2 As Variant, ByVal column3 As Variant, _
    ByVal column4 As Variant, ByVal column5 As Variant, _
    ByVal column6 As Variant, ByVal column7 As Variant, _
    ByVal column8 As Variant, ByVal column9 As Variant, _
    ByVal column10 As Variant, ByVal column11 As Variant)
    Private Sub load_binary_spectra()
      Dim nrows, ncols As Long
      Dim col1(), col2(), col3(), col4(), col5(), col6(), _
          col7(), col8(), col9(), col10(), col11() As Variant
      Dim lRetVal As Long
      Dim spectra_path As String
        spectra_path = "C:\temp\binary_file_to_ascii\sample_binary_file\sample_binary_file.dat"
        lRetVal = binary_file_to_ascii(spectra_path, nrows, ncols, _
                  col1(), col2(), col3(), col4(), col5(), col6(), _
                  col7(), col8(), col9(), col10(), col11())
        MsgBox (spectra_path)
    End Sub

    Hi,
    I don't know anything about Visual Basic, but here's my guess.
    When you load the DLL with this line of code
    Private Declare Function binary_file_to_ascii Lib "C:\temp\binary_file_to_ascii\binary_to_ascii.dll" _
    (ByVal binaryFile As String, ByVal nrows As Long, ByVal ncols As Long, ByVal column1 As Variant, _
    You are defining how the parameters are sent. It seems that all are sent by value (ByVal), but in the DLL header, some of the function's
    parameters are defined as pointers(see the function prototype below, look for asterisk(*))
    void __stdcall binary_file_to_ascii(PStr binaryFile,
                                                    long *numberOfRows,
                                                    long *numberOfColumns,
                                                    float column1[],
                                                    float column2[],
                                                    float column3[],
                                                    float column4[],
                                                    float column5[],
                                                    float column6[],
                                                    float column7[],
                                                    float column8[],
                                                    float column9[],
                                                    float column10[],
                                                    float column11[]);
    Can you define in VBA that you want to use pointer instead? Maybe by using ByRef (as by reference).
    Hope this helps.

  • How to read a continuous temperature signal from a Pyrometer via RS-232

    I'm trying to read and graph a continuous signal from a Pyrofiber Lab pyrometer which is coming in through an RS-232 cable. As far as I can tell there are no device drivers for this instrument (or any other pyrometers).
    If I have the pyrometer take single measurements I can get those into LabView using the Instrument I/O Assistant, but only as an ABC string reading " 'emmisivity value' 'temperature' 'corrected temperature'" and not as individual numbers or data that I can use/graph. If I have the pyrometer in High Speed Transmit mode (which is the mode I need it in), I can't read the signal at all. How can I get LabView to continuously read (and record or graph) the incoming signal? And is there some way to parse the signal when it comes in as a string with " 'time' 'emissivity' 'temperature' 'corrected temperature'"?
    I'm very new to LabView (and programming in general), so any hints on a good starting point would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    progers - There is not a specific solution, as there is not a device driver for this device (assuming you are also using a pyrometer).
    There are serial communication examples in LabVIEW, by going to Help >> Find Examples >> Hardware Input and Output >> Serial.
    You will need the programmer's manual for the device to know what serial commands to use to talk to the device (see Dennis's post above).
