Multiple flash install/uninstall process spawning

Has anyone else had the problem of multiple Flash installer/uninstaller processes running that cannot be killed?
Image Name                                              PID      Session     Name Session#    Mem Usage     Status
FlashUtil32_11_6_602_171_ActiveX.exe 3884     Console                          1     8,012 K           Running
Removing, reinstalling , updating flash didnt fix the issue.

I found my own fix.
Go to :-
C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
Rename the file extension on "  FlashUtil32_*Adobe Version*ActiveX  " from .exe to .txt
I tired this on two different machines running different versions of Flash ,one on 12.*** and one on  11.***
It worked on both.

  • Install/Uninstall process stalling ""libsmime3.dylib is in use"!?

    Hi Team
Im working on my Macbook running OS X 10.5.8. Since I can remember I have been using Thunderbird & Firefox as my stock Mail Client & Browser.
I had some problems with my Firefox browser so decided to remove the Application Files and re-install.
I can install Firefox without issue but when I open it up a "Alert" box pops up stating...
''Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features.''
I click okay and Firefox starts but I cannot access any pages. I try to start in "Safe Mode" but again nothing seems to work.
So again I figure remove or "Move to Trash" all the Application Files but I am unable to remove all files because I get the following errors from the trash can for these files...
"The operation cannot be completed because the item "libsmime3dylib" is in use."
The same error pops for these files too...
    "libplds4.dylib"
    "libplc4.dylib"
    "libnssutil3.dylib"
    "libnss3.dylib"
    "libbspr4.dylib"
I try and search in Spotlight for these files no no results are returned.
I hope I have provided enough information for you to investigate & help.
    Keep up the good work.
    All the best, Kriss

I had the same problem sudo killall did work, but the process was respawning way too faster. So I did the following and it worked, using FF4, awesome BTW.
while [ true ]; do sudo killall vpnagentd; sleep 1; done

  • Why does it takes so long to install/uninstall CS3 versions?

Hi, i'd like to know why since CS3 releases, not only with
dreamweaver, the install/uninstall process take an eternity!,
before you ask: now i'm in a brand new laptop dual core 2.5 with
6mb of cache, 3 gig ram, xp, all clean all tweaking as always and
    no background programs running.
an eternity is about more than an hour. but if a install any
cs2 versions the install process concludes in less than 2
    minutes....
    so:
why takes so long? what is the installer/uninstaller doing?
    thanks a lot :)

    From my notes:

  • Cannot install/uninstall/use flash

recently i uninstalled flash in order to install a new version,
after this i discovered i could not install flash, and although
flash had been removed some animations could play,
furthermore the "about flash" or whatever ensured me that flash was still installed.
i uninstalled it through the control panel, a fatal mistake.
since then i have tried many times to use the flash uninstaller.
i have tried downloading special system tools.
i have searched and removed every folder and every registry entry
    named "flash", "macromedia", "adobe" etc.
i have removed every visible trace of any adobe product just to be certain, with "Revo uninstaller".
    i have uninstalled/reinstalled opera.
and i have then used a registry cleaner repeatedly.
i have looked through countless discussions to get help.
i cannot install any version of flash.
the "about flash" page still tells me i have flash installed.
is there anything more to do?
the only thing i can think of is reinstalling windows,
    or buying a new computer.
or if someone let me know the location of every file
and registry entry associated with flash so i could remove them.

I should have mentioned that i have Windows XP,
    using Opera, as mentioned.
i did not find any flash10x.ocx,
i did however find a few flash.ocx files
on various places, which i removed.
    i also found and deleted
    NPSWF32.dll
    NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe
    and flashplayer.xpt
    mentioned in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash
there must be some traces left in the registry
since the installer constantly fails to initialize.
i have tried disabling the firewall and antivirus
    while running the installer.
and i have tried all the standard instructions.
The browser does not claim that flash is installed anymore,
but the installers still fail to initialize when they start.

  • How to install/uninstall multiple packages from a list

Is there any way to install/uninstall multiple packages written in file? E.g. I have text file with content:
    packageA
    packageB
    packageC
And I want use something like "pacman -S <<< file-with-packages". I know, I can get these files on one line and paste it as parameters, but this is not pretty way.
I tried searching (also in man), but I didn't found anything (if I missed this in man/wiki, I am sorry, now is "early tomorow" and my mind needs redbull or sleep )

  • Can't install/uninstall Flash Player?

Having some serious difficulty here with Flash. Firstly whenever I open a busy webpage that's running flash, my browser will immidiately crash (no rhyme intended)
I've been scouring the FAQ's as well as Google to find a solution and so far the majority of responses have been something along the lines of "uninstall it and then reinstall it". So I've tried doing that, only problem is that the install/uninstall manager also keeps crashing for me. So essentially I can't install, I can't uninstall.. and I can't currently view pages with copious amounts of flash (for more than a couple of seconds anyways) without it crashing.
Was really hoping somebody could help me, though I'm sure you'll need some information from me before you can give me an answer, so rather than filling up this whole discussion with information you may or may not need, but if you ask for some specific things I'll be sure to reply quickly
P.S sorry there is little to none formatting - not particuarly in the mood to make things look pretty at the moment

Flash Player plug-in not enabled can also be a reason.
In Firefox, could you please check if Flash Player pug-in is enabled? Click Tools > Add-ons > Plugins.
    Do you see Shockwave Flash?
Are you downloading Flash Player from the Adobe site? http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Could you please do the following:

Go to the Content > Resource folder and double click the Adobe Flash Player.pkg file.

  • Installing a callback for multiple windows messages and processing EVENT_NEWHANDLE message

Good afternoon all,  I am a newbie to using the Win32 API.  I have two questions:
When a single callback is installed to process multiple windows messages, will the install function return the same windows handle for the panel?
I also saw noted in the help your panel should handle and respond to the EVENT_NEWHANDLE message.  Does the InstallWinMsgCallback function need to be called make sure your panel handles this message as well?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi hortoxn1,

  • Install/Uninstall problem... IE?

I'm having a problem upgrading my current version of the Flash player. I went to the live chat and they sent me here. I get thru all the "run" boxes, then a black/grey installation box comes up.  Installation begins, then it tells me I need to close Internet Explorer (which I do) and then hit "Retry"... nothing happens... the installation never starts again and the screen stays the same.  I've done this probably 5 times now with the same results.  I thought maybe if I uninstalled the old version first, that might help, but,  the same thing happens during the uninstall process.   Everything was working fine yesterday morning, except Pogo games wouldn't load.  I went thru all the troubleshooting, and one of them was to update your Flash player and here I am.  Help Please!!
    I'm running Windows 7: 64 bit
Internet Explorer 8: It doesn't show how many bits... it just says "Cipher strength 256 bits"
    Flash version: 10,2,153,1
I really hope someone can help me!!
    Thanks!

Thank you for all the information you provided; this really helps to provide a solution for you.  Let's try a clean installation:
    download the FP uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and save it to disk;
    download the EXE installer for Internet Explorer from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html and save it to disk;
    close all Internet Explorer windows, then run the downloaded uninstaller;
    restart Windows;
    open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash - delete any remaining files in there;
    now run the downloaded installer.
Now open Internet Explorer and go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ - can you see the Flash animation (rotating red 'f')?
Any problems during the uninstall/install process?

  • Installing/Uninstalling PPCS6 for Encore

    Hi,
I recently reformatted my main workstation and reinstalled my OS (Win Pro 7) and all of the CC apps that I use. I decided to do a clean install of my OS (Win 7Pro) as I like everything to be installed "cleanly".
I wanted to install Encore and I am well aware that I have to install/uninstall PPCS6 to aquire Encore.
After installing all of my CC apps, PP, AE, PS, AI, etc, etc, I installed/uninstalled PPRO CS6 last to aquire Encore.
I do not like having multiple versions of software on my OS as I like to keep everthing "clean" so I uninstalled PPROCS6 and removed the preferences as well. Perfect. Not a trace of PPROCS6 left that I can detect.
    However....
I am extremely irritated as it left Bridge CS6 and Media Encoder CS6 installed which I have no need for as I have the CC versions of the apps installed already.
Is there no way to uninstall BR CS6 and AME CS6?
I am quite irritated that after doing a beautiful clean install I am left with this extra crap.
Adobe decided to dump Encore...so be it...but at least have the professional courtesy of making it a stand alone app that can be installed independently, like FW CS6 for example.

    John,
Thank you for the response. I did in fact read that page in it's entirety prior to the installation. When one installs PPROCS6 for the soul purpose of installing Encore CS6, one is actually installing the PPRO CS6 "family" which includes Encore CS6, Bridge CS6, Media Encoder CS6, Extension Manager CS6 and ExtendScript Toolkit CS6.
When you go to uninstall PPRO CS6 you have the option of uninstalling PPRO CS6 and/or Encore CS6. When you uninstall PPRO CS6, it will in fact do just that, however it DOES NOT uninstall Bridge CS6, Media Encoder CS6, Extension Manager CS6or ExtendScript Toolkit CS6.
That page fails to mention that although you are uninstalling PPRO CS6 you will not be able to uninstall the above mentioned application left behind.
When I go to Control Panel>Remove Programs those remaining applications do not show up as independent installations. However there is one entry for "Adobe Premiere Pro CS6".
IMO, Adobe needs to update that article and notify customers that they are installing the entire PPRO CS6 "family", not just PPRO CS6 and Encore CS6 and there is no apparent way to remove the additional applications through conventional means.
On that note, I think it is completely unprofessional that anyone of us who have moved the to CC and the CC Apps that want to download Encore have to go through the *** backwards process of downloading an earlier version of PPRO just to install Encore...ridiculous.
Adobe should at least make it convenient for us and a little more straight forward and have Encore CS6 and a stand alone app/installer.
    Nice one Adobe...pure laziness.

  • Quicktime errors during install, uninstall, or run

Quicktime errors during install, uninstall, or run. No error code. It just says it encountered an error and must exit.

I located a previous response that satisfied my issue. Below is the process that allowed me to use quicktime.
The "fatal error" in this context has (recently) been indicating trouble with old, misplaced QuickTime componentry lurking about in your system.
(Whether or not the message is a symptom of that problem seems to depend on what version of old misplaced stuff is lurking and what version of QuickTime proper we're trying to install or uninstall ... but in recent times, there's been an uptick in fatal errors being caused by that.)
So let's try investigating that possibility first.
First we'll adjust some view settings on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in "My Computer" open Local Disk C: (or whichever drive your operating system is installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Flash Install Error in Opera-9

When I try to install latest Flash for Opera-9, I get an
error message saying Firefox is using one of the files and must be
closed. I have not opened Firefox in weeks. In Windows Task Manager
Firefox does not show as a running application or as any of the
myriad of processes running... so Firefox is not running but the
Flash install for Opera9 is faulty. How do I work around this?
    Thanks, in advance, [email protected]

Solved: the typo is in the documentation.
There is a space before the jdbcutility word:
java  -classpath  newscale_adu.jar;newscale_ddlrunner.jar;newscale_drivers.jar;newscale_security.jar;castor-0.9.5.4.jar;xercesImpl.jar;xml-apis.jar;commons-logging-1.0.4.jar;newscale_core.jar; com.newscale.deployer.util.JDBCUtility  SqlServer myserver:1433;DatabaseName=RequestCenter DbNameUnused RCUser  mypass C:\sources\rex\deploy\rex.xml
It would be great if the doc is more precise, knowing that most of the install is performed by hand.

  • What is "Uninstalled Processes" in the App History tab in the Task Manager?

In the App History tab in Task Manager there is an entry for "Uninstalled processes".  It
hasn't used much CPU time but it use too much from network. I scanned my PC by BitDefender [full scan] but it didn't remove and also i tired to reboot my PC but it's still there! and it's still taking from my network.
    What is it???!
    Screenshot,
    http://i.imgur.com/MeyjyxD.png

Can you please go through the list of Apps. Did you install any new Apps which looks like consuming too much network bandwidth?
Also from the screenshot, I see lot of programs on the desktop. I recommended uninstalling software cos I see lot of programs on the desktops related to system maintenance. Wondering if any of these programs is responsible for the process.
I apollogize for not able to point out to a single culprit. This is one of the cases where you have to try uninstalling programs one by one and check if it removed the process.

  • EventHandler, install/uninstall in succession or not

Sorry to bother again, but now I have an architectural question regarding Visa event handlers. I like to react to SRQs several times during the life time of my instrument object, everytime in a different manner. Should I install and uninstall an event handler for each time, or keep it installed and handle the events, which I have to handle each time in a different manner, in that one event handler, which would then call the actual event processing routines according to a state machine variable? The first approach is more elegant, but is there a hardware performance issue? I guess, software performance on a Pentium isn't one.

    Gunni:
Ah, the elegance vs. functionality tradeoff. Rest assured that either approach can work fine but each has its pros and cons.
I would definitely say the traditional approach would be to install a single handler once for a given session, then handle the events based on what you are doing at the moment.
Rather than using a global variable, 1 way to keep the information more local might be to call "sess.SetAttribute (VI_ATTR_USER_DATA,value);". I'll admit to not remembering the exact syntax but I'm pretty sure that's about right. Then in your callback you can do "sess.GetAttribute(VI_ATTR_USER_DATA,&value);" and know your session's state information. Remember that this can hold any 32-bit value, including a pointer if you cast it appropriately.
On the other hand, if you want to install/uninstall a handler appropriate for the given task, make sure you remember to call EnableEvent after installing your handler (since the previous uninstall will automatically call DisableEvent). Also, make sure you install and enable just before setting up the instrument to generate an SRQ in order to avoid any race conditions. This may make the handler more elegant but potentially clutters your other code.
My recommendation would be to use the first method (always keep it installed). If a big switch statement in the handler is unappealing, try this. Make all your actual event processing routines take the same parameter list, and just set the VI_ATTR_USER_DATA value to the function pointer of the routine. Then the handler can just invoke the function pointer (with the appropriate parameters) instead of doing a switch. This will likely require that the actual event processing routines be non-member functions, and I'm pretty sure they can't be virtual ones, since you can never get a direct pointer for these.
I hope this gives you more insight into your various options. Again, it really doesn't matter too much because any of these ought to work.

I can't not find the way to uninstall the extension.
Do I use this command to install is correct? And please suggest me the way to unInstall the extension by PowerShell script.

    Hi Bruce,
In addition, Since I'm not familar the VSIX, however, to uninstall package with powershell, these cmdlets are for your reference:
Removes an app package (.appx): Remove-AppxPackage
To get the installed package :
    Get-AppxPackage
Or if you want to uninstall app listed in 'Add or Remove Programs', please also check this script:
    $app = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Product | Where-Object {
    $_.Name -match "Software Name"
    $app.Uninstall()
If there is anything regarding this script, please feel free to post back.

    Hi,
This may be the wrong forum but only registered today and tried to open a question in a community forum and new message/topic isn't highlighted.
My immediate problem is last night I downloaded the Blackberry Desktop Software 6.1 I then tried to
    uninstall/remove my existing Blackberry Desktop Software 4.2.1 but I can't? I go
through the motions, 3 screens and the last says remove. I click this then get a
    prompt saying:-
Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\BlackBerryDesktopSoftware.msi I then have to click cancel,
it rolls back then I have to click finish & the Wizard closes???
    I now have 2 versions of the software installed 4.2.1 & 6.1 !!
I'm trying to remove through add remove programs as that is the prompt I get. I

    Can anyone advise please??
    Thanks,

    Dear all,
this is my 3rd day that I spent in front of my computer and my mind start cracking.
Firstly here is my computer config:
    win7 ultimate
    service pack 1
    always "run as administrator".
I had bold 9000 (OS5 - BIS) and and was using/syncing with desktop manger v5.0.1 without any problem over 2year.
3 days ago bought a new bold 9788(OS6 - BIS) and my nightmares started.
Firstly, existed DM start to crashing when I connect my phone. So I downloaded from blackberry web site v6.1version.
I read necessary forums before installing and made clean uninstall for previous DM as per stated ArticleID: KB02206
plus as a medium tech savvy I run registry cleaner program to clean leftovers as I did for my all unistalls. so far noany problem about uninstall process.
when i run the installer installation starts but afterwhile it comes error 1316(a network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:\windows\installer\blackberry desktop software.msi) and installation stops androlling back process.
after that i read all the forums related 1316 error but as now no any solutions. I can't install this software to mycomputer.
here is the list of the procedures i followed so far, but i would like to remind after each installation attempt, Iuninstalled together with complete uncleaning process including with registires and all "research in motions"folders that created during installations and countless reboots.
here is the folders I deleted each time:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\research in motions
    C:\ProgramData\research in motions
    C:\Program Files\research in motions
in some forum manetioned another folder might be created under C:\users\****\appdata\roaming\ -but I dont found any RIM file or folder in this section.
here is the resolutions that i followed so far.
1.) all 4 resolutions explained in Article ID: KB04272
2.) used windows installer clean up app. for uninstall.
3.) i placed "desktop software.msi file inside of the C:\windows\installer folder.
4.) i run setup.exe file from extracted zip file.
5.) deleted registries from registry editor by searching ne by one.
    6.) registered alt.dll for re-installs.
as I can see from the forum pages error 1316 is problem for who want to uninstall software. i just want to install latest desktop software and use my new phone and sync my contacts.
can you please check and let me know if you have any experience how to overcome about this problem ?
    many thanks in advance.
