Open System Preferences and select Users & Groups. Assuming the migration was successful, you now have a new account - it was migrated. Migration Assistant doesn't copy files, it copies accounts. To see your documents you'll need to log into the account you migrated. (It has the same password it did on the other computer.)

  • How to recover incomplete download items from the point where it stopped in firefox browser in case of unexpected computer crash or shut down

While downloading with Mozilla Firefox if by any means my computer crashes or shutdown unexpectedly I lose all data that had been downloaded so far. How to recover the downloaded data without a need to start all the way back from scratch to download the same data. Please help me if there are any means to recover downloaded mbs and continue from where it has stopped, so that I can avoid losing extra mbs and time to go back again and restart downloading.

    Try these steps:
    # Move the old .part partial download and the final file without the .part that has size 0 to another location.
    # Start a new download and pause it, don't close Firefox.
    # Copy the two files (.part and 0 byte final) that you moved above back to the download location to replace the new files that were created.
    # Resume the download in Firefox.
If that doesn't work then the server may not support resuming.

  • How to recover incomplete cmap?

I printed a Microsoft Word file as a PDF file by Distiller with an embed SakkalMajalla truetype font. I want to extract unicode texts from the PDF file. I found ToUnicode misses part of mapping. For example, CID 06B4 doen't have any mapping. I guess 06b4 should be mapped to U+0644. There are some substitutions in SakkalMajalla. So uni0644.medi (U+FEE0) is replaced by liga.0758.medi.alt1 (U+10354). Why can't Distiller deal with the situation? How can I recover missed mapping from PDF objects except ToUnicode? Thanks
P.S. I also asked the question couple days ago. Please see Re: Is it a bug of Distiller? I haven't got answers. I don't have privilege to move or delete that discussion. Sorry for asking a question in two communities.

I thought maybe I could get some information from Truetype font tables which are stored in FontFile2 of FontDescriptor, like GSUB and CMAP. Or I could get some information from those PDF objects which I didn't know to recover an incomplete cmap. I know it is impossible now.
I used the "Create PDF" button to export a PDF file. The toUnicode becomes incorrect. CID 0284 and 06B4 have the same unicode U+FFFD. What happened?

  • How to recover DVD backup of user data

Under windows 7 home  premium  I did a backup of user data to 25 DVDs before restoring the original OS from the Restore partition.  Now I want to restore user data from the DVDs. I can not find anything under recovery and restore. but I did find a EXE called RecoveryMrg on the 1st DVD.  Clicking on it I get an hourglass when I put the cursor over the window of files on the dvd.
In another forum post it suggest this should take a while. Well it has been a couple of hours.
On the resource monitor DISK tab I do not see any activity to the DVD drive. (But I am not sure it should show op there)
Is this long time normal? Or is this the wrong way to restore the user files?
    Thanks

Hi C_J_W. What program did you use to create the backups, Windows Backup? Here are a few documents on the topic, which will hopefully point you in the right direction:

    Restoring Files from Backup

  • How to recover old backups

    Hi Guys,
Started time capsule about 1.5 years ago. Backsup my macbook pro daily. 3 days ago I upgraded my hard drive from 320GB to 500GB. Now I realise that my previous backup files dont exist.I know its in there somewhere because the time capsule has about 140GB space left.
My question is , when I enter time capsule , the dates dont go back to the time when I first started the back up.So how do I get access to it?
Appreciate if you guys can help.

Open System Preferences and select Users & Groups. Assuming the migration was successful, you now have a new account - it was migrated. Migration Assistant doesn't copy files, it copies accounts. To see your documents you'll need to log into the account you migrated. (It has the same password it did on the other computer.)

My ThinkPad T43 got virus, I formated it and installed Windows XP Professional. Then try to recover it to manufactury status, but can't install the Rescue and Recovery file.  It says " can not find the required file for installing Rescue and Recovery, can't continue. Make sure the correct .tvt file is in the same folder where the installing package is located."
Please help! by the way, I don't have a backup file.

    Hi imjscn,
I don't know what you are trying to establish here nonetheless RnR from Windows does not put thinkpad to factory settings. Only preboot RnR has this ability. If you did not delete the recovery partition wile formatting, you can subsequently recover it through following method:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-54483

  • Incomplete Time Machine Backup - How to Recover Files?

    Hi Everyone,
Yesterday, while downloading the new OSX Mountain Lion I did a backup to an external hard drive with time machine. For some reason I apparently ejected the HD while the backup wasn't complete. Today while installing Mountain Lion I had two unpleasant surprises, first I couldn't install because it said my disk needed repair so I had to format it, second when I did recover from backup I realized my last backup was incomplete.
Bottom line I managed to reinstall from a previous backup (couple of weeks) and I even managed to open the incomplete backup and get back most of the files, with the curious exception of jpeg and avi. I can open the photos and movies but I can't save them to any other location...
Anyone has any idea of what should I do?
    Thanks in advance!
    Jeronimo

    Hi,
    Thanks a lot!
I will do so at once.
    Cheers,

  • HT203756 How can I remove 'old' or 'incomplete' backups from iCloud?

How can I remove 'old' or 'incomplete' backups from iCloud?
When I attempted, the iPhone 6+ message asked if I wanted to remove ALL of the backups... without giving me the option of selecting the specific one I wanted to remove.
I had performed 'backups' of my old iPhone, but, when I tried to RESTORE to the REPLACEMENT iPhone, at least one of the iCloud backups shows 'incomplete'.  There was no 'error' on the original iPhone...when it 'failed' to complete the backup.
Now, I would like to 'clear up' the 'storage' on the iCloud, but am unable to select specific ones. I can either keep all instances or shut off iCloud Backup which would, according to the message, remove/delete ALL of the BACKUPS.
    This shouldn't be this difficult.....

I too wondered how you remove apps from iCloud.  Judging by the quantity of questions, comments, suggestions and replies (some rather rude) there is a clear need for Apple to make their literature a lot clearer.  The page describing what iCloud backs up refers to "app data" as an item which is backed up.  To the uniniated this might mean the app program but it seems not.  The app is "bought" via iTunes or the App Store and details of your purchase (free or otherwise) is held there separately on the server.
It would be nice however to be able to remove the reference to junk I have downloaded and decided I don't want so that it doesn't appear on the purchased apps listing!  Apple please note this.
It must be remembered that Apple products come pitifully supported by manuals "out of the box" on the assumption that it is so easy to use the product that no explanation is needed.  They forget that most buyers of Apple products (me included) don't know (and don't want to know) how they work, so when something is not obvious they are required to plough through Lord knows how many web pages of "knowledge base" material until they find an answer.
All I can add is that it is worth spending time reading the multiitude of discussion threads before asking the question yet again...

  • How to recover the autocomplete data from a Time Machine backup?

How to recover the Safari 5.1.7 autocomplete data from a Time Machine backup on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)?
To solve other issues (Safari crashing sometimes when saving web pages), I selected:
    Safari - Empty Cache
Safari - Reset Safari - Selected ALL - Reset
I could later on recover some Safari autofill data restoring
    HD/Users/~/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
    HD/Users/~/Library/Safari/Form Values
    HD/Users/~/Library/Safari/History.plist
but other autocomplete data is missing, including the one when filling web form search fields in web pages, for instance, and also some username and password login data on some web sites.
How to restore all such data from the Time Machine Backup?
    Thanks!

    I also recovered:
    HD//Users/~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    What else should I recover?
