How to run update query statement to update a table cell

I have a job within that has dataflow which loads data to target after teh dataflow is done loading, i would like to call to run the following: in the workflow context do i need to add a script object , plus also the below query is it the proper way to run an update statement.
sql('Target_DS','update tbl_job_status set endtime=sysdate() where endtime is null');
Thank you very much for the helpful info
kind regards.

Arun,
Is this the right way instead of doing enable recovery.
Manaully taking care of recoverable workflow logic, by updating a table_job_status(starttime and end_time columns)?
the only advantage of going this way rather than using recover as a unit is, if i use recover as a unit.
then if any problem occurs in any dataflow, then all the dataflow one more time gets executed.
instead i want only the data flow with the error occur has to run. for delta's.
Kind regards.

  • UPDATE QUERY can't update table

    Hi,
    During 1500-2000 concurrent users, DB Transaction locks occur. So that Update query can't update table and we get inconsistent data. How can we avoid this inconsistent data?? Why we get transaction locks??
    Eg. In update query it update the status of user with completed; but because of transaction lock  update query can't update status of user it remains uncompleted. So we can get wrong status of user(inconsistent data). Why UPDATE query update the status
    of user???
    update table set status='completed', date=@p2,score=@p3 where id=@p1

    You are not getting inconsistent data, you are getting the data according to the isolation level you are running under. The isolation level determines the locking model and therefore determines any bad dependencies you may experience. Reducing the bad dependencies
    through higher isolation level will lower concurrency. *This* is the core concept of Transactional Processing theory.
    Furthermore there is not really such a thing as a DB Transaction lock - at least not in the way you mean. SQL server does use DB locks (such as Shared transaction workspace and Exclusive transaction workspace) but the highest level of lock escalation is
    the object level (heap or btree) so those are the things you are really interested in. In the ideal would you want all Exclusive, Shared and U locks to be taken at the RID (heaps) or Key (cluster tables) level - and only have few of them per query.
    In conclusion think carefully about your query and how it is implimented under the covers by the database engine.

  • Spool process running on "Querying" state

    Hi,
    One of the work process is running on "querying" state, for every 3 minutes. And raising up even we kill it on process overview. At the end of the process it is core dumping on system with the error below;
    ABAP runtime errors    SYSTEM_CORE_DUMPED
           Occurred on     16.07.2008 at 00:31:48
    Process terminated by signal 11.
    What happened?
    Error in the SAP Basis system
    ABAP/4 processor detected an internal system error.
    The current ABAP program "RSPOWP00 " had to be terminated because the ABAP
    processor discovered an invalid system state.
    Even though we set "Do not query host spooler for output status" on SPAD, the system is still querying those printers that we already set this parameter.
    The system is HP-UX and the spool access method "S" configured for each printer. I am sure that there's no any network problem between server and the host spooler. Kernel version is 4.6C.
    What can cause the problem? Anyone has a suggestion?
    Thank you

  • How can i have Query trace results in a table format?

    How can i have Query trace results in a table format?

    Are you referring to reading the trace files generated under udump folder?
    Well, you can make use of external tables, but you really need to be a master in understanding that cryptic data.
    Check out following link for an alternative.

  • How to make the diagonal line in the swing table cell?

    Hi all,
    How to make the diagonal line in the swing table cell just like the link below?
    http://61.132.17.188/webber/table.gif

    One improvement.. To get a line that is neat, use a bit of Graphics2D
        public void paintComponent(java.awt.Graphics g)
            int w = getSize().width;
            int h = getSize().height;
            // draw a line between (0,0) and (w,h)
            g.setColor(getForeground());
            if (strTop == null)
                strTop = "  ";
            if (strBottom == null)
                strBottom = "  ";
                java.awt.Graphics2D g2 = (java.awt.Graphics2D)g;
              g2.setRenderingHint(java.awt.RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,java.awt.RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
              //g2.setStroke(new java.awt.BasicStroke(14.0f));
            g.drawLine(0, 0, w, h);
            //the following lines will draw the two strings,
            //one above the top of the line and the above below it.
            g2.drawString(strTop, (w/2)+2, (h/2)-2);
            g2.drawString(strBottom, 2, (h / 2) + 2);
            //the x,y for drawString are only based on assumption.   //do necessary changes to suit ur needs.
        }Then create a TableCellRenderer and set it to the Table Header for ur table's 1st row.....
    Cheers

  • Help me Please ..... How to Run SQL Query in Creator

    Hi all , I want to Run a SQL query in Creator how do i do it.
    If i want to retrive a set of records based on few matching fields or some join conditions , what method i can use ?
    How Can i run other SQL statements like ALTER , UPDATE , DROP ....
    Please Help me .

    Hi Hanumesh,
    To run SQL commands like ALTER, UPDATE, DROP you will have to go to the Pointbase console. Creator does not provide for database operations on the tables other than querying for data. To start the Pointbase console run startconsole.exe which can be found in <install directory>\SunAppServer8\pointbase\tools\serveroption.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Update query issue to update middle (n records) of the rows in a table

    Hi
    I have a below requirement for that I gone thru one below appoch to fulfill my requirement.
    Requirement:
    I need to pull 3 crore data thru ODI, source table does not have a primary key and it have 200 columns with 3 crores records (it has a 25 columns as composite key).
    I need to populate those 3 crores records into target oracle DB but when I tried to load 3 crores at time I got an error so I approch incremental load, since for that I need to update for each 1 crore records with flg1,flg2 anf flg3 (flag values), for this update I have added one more column in source table using those flag values I can populate 1 crore records in target machine.
    Approch
    For aove requirement I writem below query to update flg1 for first crores records update tbl_name set rownum_id='flg1' where rownum<=10000000; and it updated successfully without any error, for second, to update flg2 for 2nd crore records I wrote below update query and it execute 20min and given *0 rows updated* Please help if below query is wrong
    Query: update tbl_name set rownum_id='flg2' where rownum<=20000000 and rownum_id is NULL;
    Thanks in advance

    A couple of thoughts.
    1. This forum is in English and accessed by people in more than 100 countries. Use metric counts not crore. Translate to million, billions, trillions, etc.
    2. No database version ... makes helping you very hard.
    3. 200 columns with 25 in a composite key is a nightmare by almost any definition ... fix your design before going any further.
    4. What error message? Post the complete message not just your impression of it.
    5. Oracle tables are heap tables .. there is no such concept as the top, the bottom, or the middle.
    6. If you are trying to perform sampling ... use the SAMPLE clause (http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/select.html#sssc).
    7. What is ODI? Do not expect your international audience to know what the acronym means.

  • Once the aggregated cube how to run the query

    hai ,
    i had cube havind lot of data .
    so i was used aggregation .
    after that how to run  query from aggragated cube
    when ever i went to rrmx . but it has showing not aggregated cube.
    once aggregate the cube where is stored
    plz let me know

    InfoCube aggregates are <b>separate database tables</b>.
    Aggregates are more summarized versions of the base InfoCube.  There is an aggregate fact table, e.g.  /BIC/E1#####  ===>  /BIC/E100027.  If you don't automatically compress your aggregates, there would also be an F fact table /BIC/F100027,
    There are aggregate dimension tables that are also created, e.g. /BIC/D1000271.  If a dimension for the aggregate is the same as the base InfoCube, then there is no aggregate dimension table for that dimension and the queries will use that dimension table from the base cube.
    As long as the agggregate is active, the BW automatically will use it instead of the base cube as long as the aggregate contains all the characteristics necessary to satisfy the query.
    You can verify the aggregate's usage by looking at info in table RSDDSTAT - it will show the Aggregate number if used (will not show aggregate usage for queries on a MultiProvider if you are on a more recent Svc Pack).
    You can also run the query thru RSRT, using the Exec & Debug option - check the "Display aggregate found" option and it will display what aggregate(s) it found and which one(s) it used.

  • How to run this query to get the minutes between two hours?

    Hi all,
    Hope doing well,
    sir i am running one query which is:
    v_TotalHrsMin1 := LPAD((extract(minute from TO_TIMESTAMP (v_Temphrs,'HH24:mi:ss')) - extract(minute from TO_TIMESTAMP (v_Outtime1,'HH24:mi:ss'))), 2, '0');--select to_date(v_temphrs,'YYYY-MM-DD HH:mi:ss')-to_date(v_OutPunch,'YYYY-MM-DD HH:mi:ss')*1440;
    in this v_TotalHrsMin1 is number datatype and v_Temphrs is varchar2 which is storing this value: 12:00:00
    and v_Outtime1 is varchar2 which is storing 06:00:00
    now i want the minute difference between both times
    and insert into v_Totalmin1.
    but getting null value in v_totalmin1.
    thanks

    952646 wrote:
    Hi Sir,
    i used query like this: v_TotalHrsMin1 := extract(hour from time_interval) * 60 + extract(minute from time_interval) from (select to_timestamp(v_temphrs,'HH24:MI:SS')-to_timestamp(v_outtime1,'HH24:MI:SS') time_interval from dual);That is not a query - that is a PL/SQL assignment expression. You should learn the differences between SQL and PL/SQL and how they work together ;-)
    When doing it in PL/SQL, you do not need a query at all. Why would you do a select from dual in the PL/SQL assignment.
    But you should be able to take the SQL example I gave you and write the equivalent PL/SQL code.
    We do not want to do your work for you - we want to teach you how to do it yourself.
    You should try and understand the examples we give you - not just cut-and-paste it and cry for help when you are cut-and-pasting a SQL example into PL/SQL code.
    Anyway - here's a way to do it in PL/SQL:
    declare
       v_outtime1  varchar2(8);
       v_temphrs   varchar2(8);
       v_interval  interval day to second;
       v_totalhrsmin1 number;
    begin
       v_outtime1 := '06:00:00';
       v_temphrs  := '12:00:00';
       v_interval := to_timestamp(v_temphrs,'HH24:MI:SS')-to_timestamp(v_outtime1,'HH24:MI:SS');
       v_totalhrsmin1 := extract(hour from v_interval) * 60 + extract(minute from v_interval);
    end;
    /What's so difficult about taking my SQL example, understanding what the differenct functions do, and then write that piece of PL/SQL? ;-)

  • How to run a query in VEV HTML application?

    Hello,
    We are developing an HTML application using VEV sdks. Anybody knows how we can run a query saved in a .rhq file using on-click event in HTML?

    You call the executequery(string) JavaScript function. That means you need to have the text from the rhq file. You can ignore the comments there (// lines and text following // on any line).
    If you you want to read the text literally from the file, you can do that in HTML5 with a method like this
    How to open a local disk file with Javascript? - Stack Overflow
    Most likely you will use fixed strings or compose them in JavaScript and then run them via the function call.

    We have made a query (on the web) with several characteristics and key-figures. One of the characteristics has unique values that occurs only once (something like numbers for documents in R/3). The query was build with only one user-input variable based on this characteristic. The query was build especially for printing and fits exactly on a A4-paper.
    We would like to give the end-user a tool in which he/she can store several values for the characteristic. On the basis of these stored values the system has to run the query several times.
    Something for the Reporting Agent or is there an other solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Henk.

    hi Henk,
    'control query' in few words is to filter data with combination of characteristic value.

    Control Query for Pre-calculating Web Templates
    Definition
    A control query is a help query that you execute before you execute the queries in the Web template, and use the result to parameterize the Web template.
    Use
    You can specify a control query as significant information in the Reporting Agent settings for a Web template. When you specify a control query, the system does not pre-calculate the Web template itself, but a number of filtered views from the Web template.
    We particularly recommend this procedure when wanting to calculate several Web templates only distinguished by their filter values in one swoop.
    Using a control query in particular allows you to formulate complex selection criteria for the data to be pre-calculated.
    Pre-calculate only the TOP50 customers, whose data is frequently requested, for example.
    Structure
    A very simple query, which contains exactly those characteristics in the drilldown in the rows according to which the Web template will be filtered, is particularly suitable as a control query. Every row in the table that a control query delivers, subsequently serves as a dynamic filter for the Web template views.
    The respective combination of characteristic values is used as a filter for the Web template Data Provider for each table row. The background run produces pre-calculated data records, in actual fact one data record for each table row that delivers a control query.
    If a characteristic does not appear in a view, the filter value is ignored.
    In addition, you automatically get only those filter value combinations, for which data exists in the InfoCube used to define the control query.
    Example
    A typical application of this approach for pre-calculating a Web template is with cockpit applications, since they are controlled mainly through selection lists and no real OLAP navigation is necessary.
    You can also use a control query for filtering when pre-calculating Crystal reports queries. You can find additional information under Defining Crystal Reports Queries Settings.
