How to set a MS Access password (jni?)

Hi there,
i searched the forum and i found some posts about this topic, but no real solution.
There are programs written in C, which can read the password out from a database, so i think, there must be a function to set one? I also think the WinAPI could help me, but im not the best C programmer and i dont know where to start. So, can anyone help me to get a solution?

You "might" be able to do it through "normal" JDBC and an SQL statement.
Ms Access isn't really a "grown up" database.
You actually might find that the likes of MySQL is FREE, more powerful, and allows you
do a lot through SQL.

Can i set up an access password for the ipod on my ipad 2?

I purchased an Ipad 2 for my son to use in his therapy for autism. He knows how to use it and knows that we have purchased shows and movies for him to watch in the car. Well now that is all he wants to do. I am wondering if there is a way that I can set up a password to access the ipod. If he cant get into the ipod to see shows and movies he will be fine with just playing the games we have for his therapy. Have you got Home Sharing set up (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819) ? i.e. he may be viewing the content from your computer, not on the actual iPad. If that is the case (which would explain to me him being able to access the videos via the iPod app), then the Restrictions settings that I've already mentioned should also work on that 'remote' content.
Edit : your last reply appeared whilst I was typing/checking this. And no, the Videos/iPod apps can't be passcode protected, you will need to go back into Restrictions and remove the restriction, or if the films are only on your computer and not on the iPad itself you could turn off home sharing on the iPad whilst he's playing the games : Settings > iPod and tap on your account id and/or password on the right under Home Sharing and delete it/ them (re-enter them when you want to re-enable it).

NEED info on How to Set Router to access just one website???

Ok here we go again, Finally found out it's my Linksys not letting me onto one website..I had a 310N and thought that was the problem so went out and bought a 610N ..same darn thing just won't let me access one website I need to sell my goods for income. I remove linksys from my modem and plug it directly into one of my computers and I got the website..Yes it's a Linksys problem !!!

MY Internet provider is Time Warner / Roadrunner cable..Does this help you to solve my problem. Nothing wrong with the modem..just my wrt 610N settings, I'm guessing it carried over from my wrt 310N..this was working fine until a couple of months ago and then nothing for this one website.

How to set up email access on N95 8GB?

I have an N95 8GB.
I have recently added a data bolt on for accessing work email from my phone and would like to receive a text/message when I receive a new email.
Problem is I can't find any information on how to set this up.

So far I have gone to 'messaging', selected 'change me', then - Options - Email Settings - Connection Settings - Incoming e-mail.

Is my password my email account password?
What is my incoming mail server?
What is my access point in use?
What setting should security ports be on?
The settings also say that I cannot have email notifications and email retrieval together. What does this mean?
I would really appreciate it if anyone out there can help.

I want to install 2 or 3 of these cameras in my mother's home, and I will have AT&T DSL service (one dynamic IP address) there with only a modem/wireless router. I want to access the cameras from my laptop or from my Blackberry Tour when I am traveling. Also want to allow access for my other relatives. I do not have another home computer to serve as a WHS, and my laptop is obviously not connected to the internet all of the time. Can I use the DDNS setup with DynDNS to provide access? The instructions that I read seemed to imply that I needed a WHS in order to forward ports, etc. Thanks in advance for your help.. Garry

How to set owner-only access file permissions both on Linux and Windows

I have the following problem. I need to store some private user information in file system. So I need to set owner-only access permissions for some directory in user home. I did not find API for doing this. As I understand this is platform specific thing. Could anybody tell me how can I do this both on Linux and Windows?

More ideas just came back to me (of something I did before)
Each OS requires a different control.
For Windows you will need to set the .policy file for each user (a pain if you have more than a dozen of clients) granting access (R or RW) to files/directories.
Then you have to write some native code (access via JNI) to access/modify your authorization.
A more professional solution that I used was J-Integra (other similar tool exist).
Basically it is a bridge between Java and COM. It magically give you access to the COM API from Java (and vice versa).
In my case it was to read/write/modify Winword documents transfered between PC and server.
From memory you have to run the com2java.exe to build the bridge (classes in Java language) between the 2 families. Compile those classes and you have a "driver" for the COM (Microsoft Objects).
Here I must confess my ignorance on Microsoft.
Those COM objets must give you some easy/integrated access to the API for LDAP or Microsoft Active Directory Service (for centralize control with more complex setup).

Need to set new keychain access password

I bought a used desktop awhile back and I am trying to get safari to remember passwords
and it always asks me for my keychain access password. Trouble is I don't know what the
fellow set it as and when I set up my system administrator password it wound up being
different from the keychain access password and I don't know how to change it. I'm not
being offered the 'Change Settings For Keychain System' in the edit menu (don't know why)
so I'm at a loss for what to do.

If you have the Mac OS X install/restore discs that came with the computer originally, I would use them to do a complete Erase and Install from scratch; that way you can get rid of any remnants of the former owners' account settings and passwords and have it all be your own.

Hi Yeldarb, Maybe I do not describe the issue clearly. The "admin/password" is used for accessing gateway modem configuration page. But it is not what I want now. I am wondering the method for changing the default password which modem use to connect the telstra server. I think every telstra boardband client would have one username/password pair for access internet, right?

If you have forgotten the password, reset the Airport by doing a short press of the reset button.. this is called soft reset.. all passwords are set to factory for 5min so you can change them till your hearts content.. then upgrade the airport.

I just received my Apple 1 TB Time Capsule. Can someone please help me with a network configuration I want to set up?
I have a cable modem, and, three computers: a G4 iMAC (system 10.5.5), an Apple MacBook (system 10.5.5), and, a PC laptop.
The Time Capsule is connect directly to the cable modem.
Regarding the computers:
(1) I want the G4 iMAC to connect directly, via an Ethernet cable, to the Time Capsule, WITH FULL ALLOWED ACCESS to the Time Capsule and to the back-up function of the Time Machine feature, and, with allowed access to my HP inkjet printer (class 6110);
(2) I also want the MacBook laptop to wirelessly link to the Time Capsule via the Airport utility on the laptop, and, WITH FULL ALLOWED ACCESS to the Time Capsule and to the back-up function of the Time Machine feature (using WPA/WPA2 security, and, without the network name visible to third parties), and, WITH allowed access to my HP inkjet printer (class 6110);
(3) I want the PC laptop to wirelessly link to the Time Capsule (using WEP security), but WITHOUT ACCESS to the Time Machine, WITHOUT access to the back-ups on the iMAC, WITHOUT access to the back-ups on the MacBook, and, WITHOUT access to the inkjet printer --- I only want the PC to use the Time Capsule as a WIRELESS ROUTER so that the PC laptop can access the internet.
(4) And, finally, I want to specify (Time-Capsule/Time-Machine/server ) access ONLY to the iMAC and the MacBook, so that others cannot gain any access.
I specifically need help to set up and configure the Time Capsule so that the PC laptop, as stated above, should have limited access to the Time Capsule --- namely, only to access the internet, and, not even be aware of stored data on the Time Capsule, not even be aware of the inkjet printer, and, not even see my WPA network name when the PC scans for wireless devices.
I also want the iMAC and the MacBook to have access to each other’s data stored on the Time Capsule (like a common server).
I have an old D-Link DI-624 wireless router that I used before buying the Time Capsule, which is available, if needed. Hopefully, I can configure the Time Capsule so that I would not need the old D-Link.

You have a few issues.
The really big one.. the school firewall should not let you connect to home.
Check the IT admin at your school but if they allow anything but a few protocols like http and https through, they are not doing their job. You cannot afford in a large network to have every Tom Dick and Harry access any open device.. that can introduce viruses and trojans into the network behind the firewall.
The general method for remote access on large networks is vpn and the TC offers no vpn connection.. just AFP.
If you intend using 3G wireless stick or the like then you can get access.
The next issue is static public IP or how to find the TC.. you need some way to find the IP if your ISP does not offer static ip, and the tc has no dyndns client. Since Apple shut down new users for mobileme and will close that service there is no method to find the TC IP without owning your own domain. You would be better placing the TC in bridge behind a router that does offer dyndns and port forward AFP (TCP 548) to it.

How to set your timed access default to no access?

I deleted my default no access entry on timed access tab on my router, and now i can't add another default no access, since it requires a Mac address to save it.
what do i do?

I am not sure what you did, but I cannot figure out how to duplicate it. You cannot "delete" the default rule, but you can change it from Unlimited, No Access, Everyday Between, etc.
If you cannot get things back to a starting point, you are going to need to perform a Factory Default Reset to get the AirPort back to default settings, then reconfigure it again. This will bring the default rule back to Unlimited access, where it belongs.
Then, you can add the "exceptions" or "rules" for each device that you want to control by timeframe each day.
If you need to start all over and perform a Factory Default Reset......
Power off the AirPort Extreme
Wait a minute or two
Hold in the reset button first, and keep holding it for an additional 7-8 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the AirPort
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
Now you can set up the AirPort again and adjust Timed Access as needed.

How to set up remote access to my old Powerbook?

Hello.
I would like to access some files from my old Powerbook from my new Macbook, as I always forget files I wind up needing later (I just recently bought the Macbook) , and don;t want to load everythign which was on my Powerbbok onto my new computer. Any suggestions?

Start up the powerbook and immediately hold down the T key, until you see the Firewire logo moving on the screen. This will place your powerbook in "Target Disk Mode". Using a firewire cable plug the powerbook into the Macbook, the powerbooks disk will then mount on the Macbooks desktop and you can copy any files you want across.
