I have on the general tab a DV Playback or Playback for Windows and Im not for sure on how to set the Dimensions this is related to the Scaling Video thread.

I'm using a ParallelElement with multiple videos. How can I get each videos dimensions? There is no width/height attribute for a VideoElement and I had no luck using the metaData either. Seems like such a basic task but I've been trying for hours now.

I guess correct video size is available only after metadata arrives (after playback start). To get video size try to acquire DisplayObjectTrait of VideoElement and look into mediaWidth/mediaHeight values.
You may want to listen to DisplayObjectEvent.MEDIA_SIZE_CHANGE events from that display object trait - it fires when video metadata arrives.

How to set video size default for exporting?

Hi,
I use quicktime conversion to export video out of FCP. My question is how to set a default video size. Under the options I can change the video size to NTSC 720:480 4:3 (and other choices). How do I set that as the default? Everytime I close out of FCP, the setting revert back to compressor native, which is what I dont want.

You can't. Use Compressor and build a droplet to the exact specification you want, especially if you're going to be doing that format often.

Change SEQUENCE = "213" to SEQUENCE = "218" in the Task ID Field component. That will solve the issue.

How to set video display parameters for the guest OS?

I don't see display adapter options in the hardware list for a VM. How does the guest OS know what are the display resolutions available?
I have installed Ubuntu 14 on two different PCs, one in Windows 8 Hyper-V and another in VirtualBox. In VirtualBox, it started off with only one resolution: 640x480. After I increased the video RAM from the default 12MB to 32MB, I get to choose
from 800x600 as well as 1024x768.
In my Hyper-V, my Ubuntu has only 1152x864. I need 1024x768. How do I do it?

The Ubuntu 14 not supported by Win8 Hyper-V, personal experience is same with Andrew_Grant, you can try to install the last Integrations Services.

How to set video function like a default function when slip "camera" at lock screen ?

At lock ccreen:
- We need to take the picture we turn on screen - slip "camera fuction" at the right bottom and take a shoot.
- We need to record a video we turn on the screen - slip "camera fuction" at the right bottom and horizontal sliding to "video" function and take a record.
With "video" fuction, after you record the video, you turn off the screen in one or tow minute, you need to record another video, you turn on the screen and slip camera function, but now it is not in "video function, it come back to "picture" function.
It is very inconvenient for who need record some video.

How to i can to setup up "video" fuction is a default function ?

Nevermind I found why this was occuring. Under the same menu, there's an option called "Auto Aspect Ratio" I simply changed it to "off" and it solved the problem.

How do you set video to CBR in compressor 4?

I'm delivering a short video to a client. They require video to be and mov file in H.264, and the video and audio to be at a Contant Bit Rate (CBR). I've figured out how to set audeio to CBR but not Video.
There's plenty of info on the web that I can find about how to set video to CBR in older versions of Compressor but I haven't been able to find any tutorials on how to do this in Compressor 4.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks!

Check with your client and see if they can use .mp4 from your old Compressor. Compressor 4 generates a .mp4 with an h.264, Compressor 3 doesn't.

I have a small problem with set the dimension of recording video from received dataSource.

I have done something like this:

I have an exception with casting Clonable dataSource to CaptureDevice:
java.lang.ClassCastException: com.ibm.media.protocol.SuperCloneableDataSource$PushBufferDataSourceSlave cannot be cast to javax.media.protocol.CaptureDeviceThis works only when I'm operating od datasource taken from capturedevice, not received from another computer.
The question is simple: How can I change dimension, frameRate etc. of record from received dataSource.

FormatControls are only available on capture devices that have the ability to capture in multiple formats. The FormatControl is used to control the device itself, not the stream. The concept of using a FormatControl on a DataSource that isn't reading from a capture device doesn't make sense, which is why you're having problems.
In order to change the resolution or other format characteristics of a video stream that isn't coming from a capture device directly, you'll need to transcode it from the existing format to the new format.

How to fit video size into project (change dimensions)

Hello,
I'm trying to make a short film (~5 minutes length), which includes photos and videos. I understand that MPEG-2 is the best format to work with, so I converted my videos (4 of them) into MPEG-2. The project size in PrPro CS4 is 960x720, 25fps, 48000 hertz stereo. The videos were taken from iphone (mp4) and Windows Live Movie Maker (wmv), and converted into MPEG-2 with Xilisoft Video Converter. They are in different dimensions (for example, the wmv is 1080p, so it doesn't fit my project), and the mp4 is rotated 90 degrees, so it needs to be flipped and I guess resize to a height of 720p.
Unfortunately my computer is 2.2ghz core2duo with 2GB RAM running on Windows 7 32-bit. I must create this video on this computer. If I will use the native files, how can I fit them into my project size (960x720)? how can I set different dimensions to the videos?

What version of PrPro are you working with?
Actually, MPEG-2 is not a good format/CODEC to use, as it is both heavily compressed, and is in GOP (Group of Pictures) structure. The version of PrPro, that you have, might well define the best format to use, and maybe even not need to convert.
Unfortunately, the Live version of WMM will only Export to WMV, where the "non-Live," older version, can Export to DV-AVI, though only Type I, and not Type II.
In general, for an SD Project, DV-AVI Type II is as good, as it gets.
The Frame Size of your Project is a bit odd. What prompted you to chose that?

where can I find a video that tells me how to set time on photos to 1 second each? Where can I find a video that tells me how to add black space to the sides of all photos so that they display completely instead of only showing the center (which shows peoples' crotches but cuts off their heads- great huh?)? Would like to import whole folders of photos, set each to 1 second, have each display completely without distorting to fill. and "play" the timeline as I build it so that I can see if its working before putting in 2000 pics?

Im having trouble using FCP to change a video that i have from a 4:3 to 16:9... the video was converted and turned out 4:3... how can i change the video dimensions or bring it back to 16:9??

Click on a clip. Under the Motion tab, & then under the Distort tab, go to Aspect Ratio. Try 33.33, 0 & -33.33 until it looks right & fill the screen properly. If you have to change a lot of clips, you might be able to use the Remove Attributes option. I'm not very good at explaining these things..but maybe this will help.

Video Dimension - how to see

I would like to be able to see the video dimension, whether it is 1280x720 or 384x216 or whatever when I select a video thumbnail. Is there somewhere to see that in Bridge? I have dimension enabled, and get that info in JPEG view, but not AVI or WMV, it just shows file size. In File/File Info I do not see the Video 1 and Video 2 categories that the knowledgebase search says should be there.
Am I missing something here? I am using CS3.
Using Win XP and Windows Explorer the tooltip will display dimension of video file. But with Vista it does not, and do not know how to change the tooltip information box. Any suggestions on that?

How handle Add Media Failure Error: File Video Dimensions (Width/Height) Too Large?

I am a brand new user of Premiere Elements. I am using it for stop gap animation, bringing in digital still photos from my Nikon D3200. I just attempted to bring in the first set of photos from the SD card. I'm running Windows 7. After loading the photos, an "Add Media Failure" box came up with the message "Error: File Video Dimensions (width/height) too large". Is something wrong with the width and height of the photos and if so what do I need to do to make it work? There were 763 photos, but the message seems to refer to the height/width of each photo and not the total file size so to speak - right? During the import process, the program prompted us to bring the photos in as images and not as videos -- so that is what we selected. Thank you for any assistance.
