  • How do I open png files and maintain transparency?

How do I open png files and maintain transparency?  I have many image files I had hoped to manage with aperture along with my photos.  I find that it wants to display them with a black bacground( they were designed for white) and when I want to edit that is kept even when I open with a psd format.  What do I do?
    Thanks

and when I want to edit that is kept even when I open with a psd format.  What do I do?
Transparency and layers are not supported in Aperture. You can import png-files or psd files with a transparent background and export the originals unchanged, but as soon as you edit them, the transparent background will be lost.
Aperture is an application to manage photos and not graphics compositions, sorry.

  • File is huge when combined or changed to PDF, how do I get the file to a normal size to print?

Files are to large to print once they are PDF, how do I get them to a normal 8x11 size to print?

So why is it when I send these PDF files to clients they are to large for clients to print?
If I send a combined PDF file that is 3817KB, which a client has said is to large for them to print.
I send it to our office manager, she will print it, scan it back to me as a PDF, it will come
back as 375KB, the client can then print the file.
My question is, was/is there something I need to change in the process of scanning, combining files
to PDF that would create a smaller size file when done?
    Sorry for all the confusion

Sorry, I'm lost.First I thought this was about page size. But you say it isn't. You say it's about file size.  You've combined files of 494 + 441 = 935 KB, and you get 944 KB. This seems fine and you say it is fine. So what is the problem? Are you now on still a third meaning of huge, about size on screen?

You can tell the aspect ratio of your project by clicking FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES.
You can tell the dimensions of your PNG file by right-clicking it in the Finder and selecting Get Info. You should see the dimensions of the PNG. You can divide the longest dimension by the shortest dimension to find the aspect ratio. For example, 1920 divided by 1080 is the same as 16 divided by 9, which can also be written as 1.78

  • How can I get png files to work on the iPad the same way they work for Android?

With the Android version, I can select a .png file template for a border, then select a background .png file, layer it under the border so that the background is revealed thru the frame.  When I try to do this with the same .png files on an iPad it does not reveal thru the top layer. Same problem with my vector clip art not vectorized.

I figured it out myself by going to the settings in the Photoshop Touch app and then selecting the Image Import setting and then selecting the Access Local Photos and then selecting the Always Use Native Photo Browser radio button.

  • How to Import multiple PNGs/files in order of file name?

Im trying to create a PDF pased on a folder of PNGs I have. The Files are titled sequentailly, but when I highlight/select multiple PNGs and import them (or click and drag) into a new PDF, the Pages are all out of wack. How can I make the Pages appear sequentially based on the file names of the selected files being imported?  Click and draging individually is becoming a bit tiresome.
    Using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.

I don't have access to Acrobat 9 but in XI adding files with these names to the Combine Files window results in the correct order. I don't think there's much you can do about it in Acrobat 9, unless you use a script to combine the files. Your best option is probably to upgrade to XI.

  • How to shrink a quicktime file of 93.3 gig with handbrake

Thanks for the info. I did try to use Handbrake, but when u navigate to the source file, it says no valid title found, I wondered if this was because there was no suffix, tried MP2, and 4 and MOV, no joy, offhand couldn't think of what other suffixes to try. version of handBrake in use is 0.9.1 any suggestions as to how I could get HandBrake to recognise the source file would be appreciated

Handbrake will quite happily provide conversion facilities: http://handbrake.fr/
I'd choose MP4 / H264 as the codecs / container, keeping the same resolution. a 2 hour movie for those dimensions at a bit rate of around 2000 shouldn't come in above 1GB (a huge reduction for you)

  • How to read a ftp file with a specified file name in Proxy-XI-File scenario

    Dear all,
    I have the following requirement:
The end user send a request via the proxy to XI, within the request parameters there is a file name, and the XI need to retrieve the file content from a ftp server with this specified file name, how can I achieve this?
According to my understanding, the file receiver adapter can only write the files to the server.
    Thanks and regards,
    Bean

    Dear Bean,
This can be achieved using a BPM...
you will have to use Two parallel receive steps within a fork...
    1. 1st receive step :This will bring the data from the proxy
    2. 2nd receive step :according to pipeline step before this step would be executed interface determination would be called withini that you can put a mapping wherin the source and target message type would be as follows
    a. source message type ; the file structure that is going to be picked from ftp structure
b.target message type : same structure as source except at top you will add "filename" field
(you cna find on forum how we can get a fielname in the mapping ..in case you dont knw )
    3. now you can define correlation on the field "fielname" in both the receive steps provide the hirearchy and structure of data coming from both file and procy are same...
4..  after corelation you can put any steps like transformation ( as you want)
    Hope this helps

  • How to produce HD video files with best quality/size ratio?

I have used the HC3 for 2 days with iMovie and iDVD on my mac mini.
When i started to import the footage with iMovie, i started to do it manually, moving forward and backward between scenes. This caused iMovie to crash very frequently. I then chose to let iMovie import the footage by itself and everything went fine.
I then easily added the chapters, transfered to iDVD and created a DVD with menus in 1 hour. I am really exited about how fast i was able to create a very nice DVD.
However i am trying to convert the footage from iMovie into a small (100-200 MB) in a 16:9 format but I am getting very big files that are not as sharp as the original or some other examples i saw on the web such as the examples in this page about the Sanyo DMX-HD1:
    http://www.akihabaranews.com/review-62-SanyoDMX-HD1%2C+everything+except+for+HD%2C+thedisappointment.html
Would you have any recommendation about the settings to export in quicktime or other format? Which video codec provides the best quality/size ratio? H.264? MPEG4? interlace or not?
    ~Antheo

I'm not familiar wih HiDef content - look at my hardware specs... I'm based in the early 90ies, way before 1080p etc..
    Prof Pixel made some... observations...
    http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/color_bars/colorbars.htm
    http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/iDVDsize.html
most codecs, which are implemented in Quicktime, are between good and excellent; my personal favorit is mp4, but in this case, I prefer the algorithms of http://isquint.org/; it also offers a h264 converter, which, I've read, should be excelllent, a little faster then Apple's and with excellent results...
compression depends very much on content and final output media... I'm afraid, you really need to do some tests on your own....

  • How can I make a file a more manageable size?

I'm looking to downsize a very hefty file.  It currently has a lot of information and is clumsy to deal with when attaching to email, opening it up, printing, etc.  Is there a straightforward way to save a version of this document with ONLY the information it needs to print a high quality image?  It doesn't need to be edited after downsizing, it just needs to look virtually the same after printing (8.5x11) as it would with all the file info intact.  Ideally, the resolution would allow for zooming in (maybe 300-400%?  That's totally arbitrary though...) on-screen without super visible pixelation.  Essentially, I think I'm looking for a way to create a high-quality "picture" of this illustrator document without significantly altering its appearance in print (priority) or on-screen.  The requested format is PDF, but I think that's flexible if an alternative is better.  I don't have a target file size, just hoping to find a mechanism that allows me to play with it until I find the minimum MB for maximum print quality.
Don't know if it's useful, but part of the reason it's so large is that I had to consolidate it into one file, so I had to embed raster images and a couple fonts (although I later just made outlines) that were links while I was actively working on it.
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Thank you!  That was a great recommendation.  "Smallest File Size" seems to bring the raster images all the way down to 150 dpi, which is a little low for my purposes, but I'll continue to play around with the other options in that dropdown menu.
    Thanks again for your time.

  • How do i save a file in its original size?

Photoshop automatically scales my large files to 8-12% giving me lower print quality.

Thank you so much for all of your time and info!
I changed the Image Options-Quality to 12 (the maximum, it was automatically set at 10) and chose baseline standard instead of baseline optimized. This results in a 17 MB file (still less than the 18MB file, but I'll take it). I have tried all sorts of combinations and still haven't gotten the original size.
You mentioned color profile and now I'm having all sorts of problems with that. When I uncheck "embed color profile: ProPhoto RGB" The color in the new file is totally different. The original says the color format is sRGB. When I change the profile in PS to sRGB, it looks much different than the original, it looks the same as if I uncheck ProPhoto RGB. I want to make copies of the pictures onto a disc and then give them to different family members to print. Most of them will send it to Costco or somewhere like that to print, but I'm worried that if I save it in TIFF or ProPhoto RGB that not everybody will be able to open the files on their computers.
What is the best way to ensure that the photo prints as closely as possible to what I see on my screen?
I have included snapshots of the same image saved multiple different ways. The first image on the left is the original. You can see in the little thumb nail to difference in colors between the different color profiles. When I uncheck embed color profile ProPhotoRGB, it shows now color profile on the file info. When I change the color profile to sRGB in Photoshop it looks totally different from the original which says is also sRGB.
On a side note, I use Light Room for all that I can and I don't have any of these problems. I just import and export on its automatic presets and everything stays the same.
