How to smooth and sharpen pixelated jpeg images?

I have a logo being produced for the web. The logo was done in illustrator. Every time i look at the jpg file its very pixelated and speckled. Is there anyway to reduce the appearance of that?

Oh nooooo!
No stepping into the great "There is no such thing as resolution" debate!
   Aaaack!
This reply is adressing the distinction between RASTER and VECTOR files only.
If you have a VECTOR file, you do not have resolution because resolution is a function of RASTER files.
Raster files are ALWAYS rectangular and they are worked in Photoshop which does have resolution settings.
Vector files are lines and drawings that are described by code and are usually worked in Illustrator or some program that writes linework files. They can be any shape and can be any size without the filesize getting larger because they do not depend on resolution to render themselves.
The fact that the logo was originally an Illustrator file would indicate that it is a VECTOR GRAPHIC and as such it would be a mistake to bring it into Photoshop at all. (unless, as noted above, someone placed a RASTER file like psd, jpg, gif, or png into Illustrator and then exported a new jpeg? Why would anyone?)Times have changed, and apparently our original post has moved on.
I am irresolute and am melting.
420x420 and out.

  • How to insert a pdf or jpeg image into a blob column of a table

    How to insert a pdf or jpeg image into a blob column of a table

    Hi,
    Try This
    Loading an image into a BLOB column and displaying it via OAS
    The steps are as follows:
    Step 1.
    Create a table to store the blobs:
    create table blobs
    ( id varchar2(255),
    blob_col blob
    Step 2.
    Create a logical directory in the database to the physical file system:
    create or replace directory MY_FILES as 'c:\images';
    Step 3.
    Create a procedure to load the blobs from the file system using the logical
    directory. The gif "aria.gif" must exist in c:\images.
    create or replace procedure insert_img as
    f_lob bfile;
    b_lob blob;
    begin
    insert into blobs values ( 'MyGif', empty_blob() )
    return blob_col into b_lob;
    f_lob := bfilename( 'MY_FILES', 'aria.gif' );
    dbms_lob.fileopen(f_lob, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile( b_lob, f_lob, dbms_lob.getlength(f_lob) );
    dbms_lob.fileclose(f_lob);
    commit;
    end;
    Step 4.
    Create a procedure that is called via Oracle Application Server to display the
    image.
    create or replace procedure get_img as
    vblob blob;
    buffer raw(32000);
    buffer_size integer := 32000;
    offset integer := 1;
    length number;
    begin
    owa_util.mime_header('image/gif');
    select blob_col into vblob from blobs where id = 'MyGif';
    length := dbms_lob.getlength(vblob);
    while offset < length loop
    dbms_lob.read(vblob, buffer_size, offset, buffer);
    htp.prn(utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2(buffer));
    offset := offset + buffer_size;
    end loop;
    exception
    when others then
    htp.p(sqlerrm);
    end;
    Step 5.
    Use the PL/SQL cartridge to call the get_img procedure
    OR
    Create that procedure as a function and invoke it within your PL/SQL code to
    place the images appropriately on your HTML page via the PL/SQL toolkit.
    from a html form
    1. Create an HTML form where the image field will be <input type="file">. You also
    need the file MIME type .
    2. Create a procedure receiving the form parameters. The file field will be a Varchar2
    parameter, because you receive the image path not the image itself.
    3. Insert the image file into table using "Create directory NAME as IMAGE_PATH" and
    then use "Insert into TABLE (consecutive, BLOB_OBJECT, MIME_OBJECT) values (sequence.nextval,
    EMPTY_BLOB(), 'GIF' or 'JPEG') returning BLOB_OBJECT, consecutive into variable_blob,
    variable_consecutive.
    4. Load the file into table using:
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile(variable_blob, variable_file_name, dbms_lob.getlength(variable_file_name));
    dbms_lob.fileclose(variable_file_name);
    commit.

  • How can I load a CMYK jpeg image

    How can I load a CMYK jpeg image (originally saved from Photoshop) and then
    turn it into an rgb BufferedImage, in order to display it on screen in an
    applet?
    I first tried ImageIO.read(), but that does not work for cmyk jpegs. I then
    looked into the com.sun.image.codec.jpeg package, and tried methods like
    decodeAsBufferedImage() and decodeAsRaster().
    The first one (decodeAsBufferedImage) returned an image, but it seems that
    it was interpreted as an ARGB, and the colors were incorrect.
    I then read the documentation which (amongst many other things) stated that
    "If the user needs better control over conversion, the user must request the
    data as a Raster and handle the conversion of the image data themselves."
    This made sense, so I took to decodeAsRaster(), only to find that I could
    not figure out how to carry out the desired conversion.
    Of course, I have looked into the documentation for BufferedImage, Raster,
    ColorModel, ColorSpace etc, but after a while I was lost. (Before I got lost
    I read that you can convert images with the help of methods like toRGB,
    toCIEXYZ.)
    I have a feeling that this is probably pretty simple if you just know how to
    do it, but I sure would need some directions here.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    You can either use the "Place" command from the main menu, under "File", or you can just open it, select the move tool "V", the click in the image and drag it to the other file's tab.

  • How to set color space to JPEG image with Java advance Imaging

    How to set color space to JPEG image with Java advance Imaging.
    is there any API in JAI which support to set color space.

    I'm definately no guru, but this is how you can change it.
    CTRL + ALT + Click on the part of the component that you want to change. This brings up the Hidden Dom Inspector, background of component will be surrounded with a red outline (Make sure the red outline is surrounding the part of the tabset you want to change), Now you go to properties sheet and click the ellipses next to rules property this will pop up a dialog you look in this list (At the top) to see the default style classes that are affecting the rendering of the component outlined in red. (You will be able to select different sections of a single component) then you just rewrite the style class that you want to change in your Stylesheet (You will not find the styleclass that you want to change because it is a part of your theme .jar but as long as you name it exactly the same and place in your stylesheet it will override the theme .jar style classes) it's actually very easy -- you were right should be a piece of cake for a guru. Don't have the link handy but you can check out Winston's Blog on changing Table Formatting to get this information...It is EXTREMELY useful if you want your apps to have a custom look and not default that comes with Creator Themes.
    Hope this helps you out God knows others have helped me alot!

  • How to change settings to view JPEG images?

    I have a Gmail account and when I attempt to view Jpeg images on emails in a larger size I get a blank page with a crossed box in one corner . How can I change settings on my PC to view the images?

    Hi:
    Assume you're using Internet Explorer browser?
    Is it happening on all images you open?
    You can verify Internet Explorer is setup to show images by going to: Tool, Internet Options, click the advanced tab and under Multimedia make sure Show Pictures is checked.
    Make sure you have the latest updates for Internet Explorer from Windows Update.

  • New to using Firefox with MAC: How does one save a single jpeg image from the web (as in a right click on a pc?)

    New to using Firefox with MAC: How does one save a single jpeg from the internet, similar to using the right mouse click on a pc?

    If your question comes about because you have a single button mouse, it's time to visit your local computer store and get a ''real'' mouse for that MAC. I don't "get" Apple, they sell their hardware for almost twice what a comparable PC would sell for - and then they leave out what is probably the most important time saving control, the right-button.
    See this for setting the hidden pref for context menus in Firefox, for Mac's.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Ui.click_hold_context_menus
    type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter
    Pref Name = '''ui.click_hold_context_menus'''
    Double-click to Toggle to '''True'''

    Thanks for looking into this.

    I have recently looked at athe code for Image Processor.
    To avoid bailing on errors it uses two techniques.
    1) It turns off all PS error reporting in addition to just turning off dialogs with:     app.displayDialogs = DialogModes.NO;  (it restores the original settings when exiting)
    2) It uses the Javascript construct  Try.....Catch around the basic body of the code so "any" error will not abort the script but just jump to the "Catch" code.
    Hope that is useful

    Thanks.

    Hello Edward,
    >> Is there a way to translate alt and title for those images displayed dynamically?
    Yes. You can use the APEX Dynamic Translation option:

  • How to set and read pixels?  AffineTransform?

    I understand how the AffineTransform class works but I don't see a way to set the color of and read the color of individual pixels in my JPanel. Any help will be apppreciated.

    you can't do that with AffineTransform. AffineTransform let's you translate/rotate/shear/scale before rendering, but you don't have access to pixel values.
    Try instead creating an empty bufferedimage, draw into it whatever you want and then you have access to the pixel values via bufferedImage.getRGB()/setRGB().
    or you get more basic and manipulate the WriteableRaster of your image directly.

  • How to load and save a Bitmap Image?

    Hi, I have to load a directory of bitmap images, take the background(in this case: light green) and then swap those exact pixels with another image's corresponding pixels, and then save them in the same format(bitmap) in a different directory. Can anybody advise me on which libraries I need to use, and how I should approach this? I need help with every step so any help will be good. Thanks. Basically I need to do the following:
    1. Load 2 directories of images(Lets say the images are corresponding like Image1A and Image1B)
    2. Take Image1A's green pixels and swap them with the corresponding Image1B's pixels.
    3. Save Image1A in a new Directory.
    This will go on for however many images there are in those 2 directories. Can anybody advise me how to do this? I need critical help in all three stages. Thanks.

    Edit: Actually, I just checked and ImageIO comes with readers and writers for both BMP and WBMP files:

    recently i got cs4 and started using bridge. now after i edit my photo in lightroom and export,the view of the jpeg file appears overexpose(exposure was increase) and when view on adobe bridge same problem. but if i open photoshop and use my workspace colour setting everything is ok. when i see my picture on iphoto it is normal as per i have edited. i just don't know what setting i have touch that cause my viewing of edited photo on lightroom and bridge goes overexpose. on bridge,thumbnail ok but preview bad...
    for the record: i just install CS4 and snow leopard recently. before this i have no problems with LR. I'm also not sure if i have accidentally change any settings.

    Is it possibe to return to a RAW image and edit it once I've exported it to another location as jpeg?
    Yes
    I've edited and exported an image to a different folder on my desktop. I've realised I still need to do some work on it
    but when I try and open it again in Lightroom ( I see it in Library)  I get a mesaage saying file not found...Please help
    We're going to need a lot more details aobut exactly (EXACTLY) the steps you follow after you do the export, because normally I would say this is one of the easiest things possible in Lightroom. Are any files moved or renamed or disks unplugged in between the time of export and the time when you try to edit again?
