How to Supress Hello packets on an interface enabled for OSPF

As I understand it, enabling an interface to join an area with the
NETWORK command, also causes Hello packets to be sent out the
interface. But if its a stub network, and you want it advertised, but
there is no need for Hello packets to be sent out the interface, how do
you suppress them?
The passive-interface command seems to be discouraged in OSPF, since
there is far more granular control over which interfaces are affected
by the network command.
The "redistribute connected subnets" could be used after entering the
network command with a very restrictive mask that advertises only
non-stub network interface(s). But that seems to open a whole new can
of redristribute issues.
This is simple to do, right?
Cheers

I don't why passive interface would be discouraged in OSPF--I've seen it used a lot in the networks I've worked on. In fact, with the advent of the passive-interface default command, it's much easier use passive interface in all the routing protocols.
The general rule of thumb is, if you want the routes to be internals, then use passive interface. If you want them to be externals, then use redistribute connected. You can filter the routes you pull in through redistribute connected using a route map. You can control which interfaces are pulled in through passive using the network statement.

  • How to find out what are the interfaces used for Job and Job Codes

    HI All,
    I just wanted to know how do we find out what are the interfaces used for Job and Job codes .
    Thanks In Advance
    Sunny

    Hi,
    Here is an idea for your request.
    Basically you can create a simple query on multiprovider 0TCT_MC01.
    Filter: you can use a variable for restriction of time ( calday, or calmonth) since you should be interested for a time period.
    Choose following characters into your objects:
    InfoProvider ( 0TCTIFPROV )  - you can create a variable for choosing infoprovider before query runs.
    *Tp.[Type of BI Application Object] 0TCTBISOTYP  = filter this with 'QUERY' or whatever your need is.
    *BI Application Object 0TCTBISBOBJ,  ( this will give you the name of the queries)
    In key figures choose,  Count for BI Appl. (0TCTWTCOUNT).
    (number for query run)
    Create a condition , for top 20.
    Hope this helps.

  • How cisco CSM parses packets?

    Hi all, Some days ago i had a problem with a Cisco CSM configuration. The short history is that i had to change the parse-length (virtual server submode) command to the max. 4000 bytes value for this implementation to work, if i dont do this the CSM sends resets to the client. what i would like to know is if someone knows how the CSM parses packets when it is "searching" for a string,cookie,etc, i am having some difficulties finding info about this.

    The parse length on the CSM is the amount of bytes we can store to find the needed information (ie: cookie).
    So when we get an HTTP request or response the CSM will buffer everything it received up to max parse-len or header limit (\r\n\r\n).
    Once we reached the end of the HTTP header we stop buffering.
    While buffering we also start looking for the info that we need.
    If we do find it we also stop buffering.
    There is nothing magic here.
    If the HTTP header gets so big that the info we are looking for goes beyond the max-parse-len when we start buffering looking for the info, we endup using all the buffer space allocated to the connection and decide to drop the connections as we don't know if the info is just not there, or somewhere further in the header but we don't have space to buffer more.
    When the CSM was created a long time ago, 2000bytes for the header was normal.
    Nowadays, http header tends to be bigger and it is very often require to bump the parse length even further than 4000 bytes.
    This can be done with a variable.

  • [Beginner] Help! How to change the packet name for an jax-rpc example

    Hi
    I am new to the JWSDP, I tried to build and deploy the helloservice application (the example in
    tutorial), it works fine. But I want to change the packet name from helloservice to books, it
    returns error message during the building process.
    Here is what I did.
    I changed the folder name from helloservice to books.
    In helloIF.java and helloImp1.java, changed to "package books"
    In build.properties:
    example=books
    war.path=${tut.root}/examples/jaxrpc/books/${dist}/${deployable.war}
    context.path=${hello.context}
    portable.war=${context.path}-portable.war
    deployable.war=${context.path}.war
    In jaxrpc-ri.xml,
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <webServices
    xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/dd"
    version="1.0"
    targetNamespaceBase="urn:foo"
    typeNamespaceBase="urn:foo"
    urlPatternBase="/ws">
    <endpoint
    name="MyHello"
    displayName="HelloWorld Service"
    description="A simple web service"
    interface="books.HelloIF"
    model="/WEB-INF/model.gz"
    implementation="books.HelloImpl"/>
    <endpointMapping
    endpointName="MyHello"
    urlPattern="/hello"/>
    </webServices>
    In config-interface.xml,
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <configuration
    xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/config">
    <service
    name="MyHelloservice"
    targetNamespace="urn:foo"
    typeNamespace="urn:foo"
    packageName="books">
    <interface name="books.HelloIF"/>
    </service>
    </configuration>
    When I run "ant build", it returns the following error message:
    run-wscompile:
    [echo] Running wscompile:
    [echo] C:\jwsdp-1.3\apache-ant\../jaxrpc/bin/wscompile.bat -define -d bui
    ld -nd build -classpath build config-interface.xml -model build/mo

    [exec] error parsing configuration file: XML parsing error: com.sun.xml.rpc
    .sp.ParseException:1: com.sun.xml.rpc.sp/P-067
    [exec] Result: 1
    All I want to do is just change the packet name, anyone know how to do it?
    Please help me.
    Thank you.

    For future reference, please post JAXRPC related questions to [email protected]
    There is something syntatically wrong with your config.xml. Try reverting back to the original, and try that. Then try modifying it again making sure to only change the packageName.

  • How to send a packet through a specific Inferface ?

    Hello!
    I have 3 interfaces in my pc : LAN / WLAN / 3G
    On LAN I have a global IP.
    On WLAN and 3G I'm behind NAT.
    I'm coding a program (client+srv) >
    I watch a video streaming on LAN then I switch to WLAN or 3G and I want it to happen seamless. So basecly seamless vertical handover is my goal.
    Because I'm behind a NAT (3G,WLAN) First I have to send a packet to the server (connection initialization). When the server sends the stream to me it actually sends it to the NAT and the NAT will fwd it to me.
    The NAT send the packets back to me only if>
    1. the server sends from the same port which it received the request form the NAT
    2. It have to send to the same NAT (ip+port) address where the request came from
    3. NAT will send then the packet back to my PC to the same port where I sent my request from.
    Here comes my big problem!
    I have a socket bound to a IP1 and port (e.g. WLAN) if I want to send a packet to an destination IPx for which the route table has the LAN interface as default gateway (IP2), then it will send my packet trough the LAN (IP2) but the source IP will be IP1 in the packet.
    Basecly I have a WLAN package on my LAN.
    This is bad for me in 2 ways.
    1. there won't be a NAT binding for my WLAN
    2. the packet won't even make it to the server because the very first router will throw it away since it's source IP is not a LAN IP
    SO,
    is there a way in Java, to send a packet thorugh a specific interface???
    Thx for the kind help!
    r0hamkuka

    I used NetworkInterface.getNetworkInterfaces() to get all avaliable interfaces. After that I used this: interfaceSocket = new DatagramSocket(6000, interfaceIp); for all my interfaces with different interfaceIp of course
    The I tried to send a packet to 153.66.200.155 for example (LAN address) through my WLAN interface (ip for example: 192.168.1.101) using WLAN's interfaceSocket.send()
    But the packet goes out on my LAN interface (ip 153.66.200.166) while the src ip is still 192.168.1.101 in the packet. That is why I sad WLAN packet on LAN interface.
    I guess the reason is still the routing table. Because routing table tells which IF to use for a destination IP. Of course for dest 153.66.x.x routing table contains 153.66.200.166 as the gateway and not 192.168.1.101. So Win uses this the LAN IF to send the packet.

  • How to design an IDOC-XI-JDBC interface

    Hello Experts!
    I'm looking for some guidance on how to design an interface where R/3 is sending an IDOC to XI (via IDOC Adapter Receiver), then XI transforms this data into a JDBC database INSERT action.
    I want to make to make the JDBC request a SYNC interface so that I can capture the number of rows inserted into the database and do some appropriate action when the insert count returns a zero value.
    Since the IDOC to XI interface is ASYNC, how do I design my link so I can redirect the JDBC response out to a different adapter?
    Thanks for your help!

  • In Multimapping how can we configure the Receiver , Interface Deter for BPM

    Hi Friends ,
    I am trying the the BPM scenario using Integration Process
    BpmPatternCollectTime
    from SAP BASIS ® SAP BASIS 7.00 in the namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns
    I have done the scenario like the above . I have followed all the Steps which are used in above scenario.
    I am using a File Sender Adapter and Receiver Adapter .
    It is Successfully picked up the File but nothing is happening after that .
    I am using two receiver Determination one from Ob to IP and other from IP to FIleReceiver ( IB) .
    But, I am Getting error as Block1 (No agent) Error in the PE graphical diagram
    I have checked in SWWL my Integration Process Return code is "0"
    The steps Which i have followed in BPM are
    1. Block with Deadlkine branch and Exception handler( as TimeOut Exception)
    Block Start and Block End as New Transaction
    2. Inside Block infinite Loop which contains Receive step ( Actives the Correlation ) and Multiline Container element which appends the Messages with CollectMessage
    3. Transformation Step
    It creates the New Transaction and Interface Maping from CollectMessage List to New Mesage
    4. Send Step
    It sends the New Message . It creates the New Transaction .
    Can you Please tell me how to configure the Receiver and Interface Determination for the above scenario ?

    hi,
    1. By providing the control commands in scripts,u can supress the blank pages.
    2.write the data between protect and end protect.
    3.Enclose the text that you want to prevent page-break in PROTECT... ENDPROTECT
    SAPscript will ensure that each line of this text is printed together on the same page.
    /: PROTECT
    Text
    Within
    The same page
    /: ENDPROTECT

  • How can I use the color adjustments interface that shows up for camera RAW on jpeg files?

    How can I use the color adjustments interface that shows up for camera raw on other files types? The HLS controls had the secondary color adjustments (6 colors instead of the 3). Plus, it had same vibrancy and a better Curves interface. Yesterday was the first time I imported raw into Photoshop CS5 and I got that really cool interface. What is that? Can I use that on other file formats?

    Actually I am using the Tradional Chinese Version, when I try to edit the jpg file with camera raw, the system shows that there is no camera raw plug-in. The cmaera raw never work.

    You will literally write in the "Implemenation", the following:
    Case when a.b=c.d then "Source"
    Else
    "Target"
    End

  • How do I turn off hierarchical keywording in LR 5?  The interface preference for auto complete is off and I still get California United State Country.  I just want Caliofrnia.

    How do I turn off hierarchical key wording in Lightroom?  The Interface Preference for Auto Complete is already turned off, but I still get California>United States>North America when all I need is California.

    You need to be signed in order to reply to posts.
    One reason why you may see the hierarchical type format for the keywords is that you have keyword 'California' duplicated in your keyword list.
    Lightroom will display them with "< Parent-keywords" appended to the end.
    ie California < State < Country  and California < United States
    If you re-keyword the photos so they only use one version and then delete the duplicate keyword from your keyword list then it will display just "California".

  • How to prevent JaxB creation of 2 Interfaces for each Element?

    hi,
    does any body know how to prevent JaxB creation of 2 Interfaces for each Element (The Content Interface and the element interface)?
    I want to configure JaxB to use only one Interface and only one implementation Class.
    Thank's,

    I am sorry I can not answer your question, I have got the same problem. Could you please email me to
    [email protected] when you know the answer, please.
    I have a question for you. When and complex type is validated, I get the object which contains the error. ( or objects ).
    However. How do know the position in the actual parent object. basically. Is there a way to know exactly the position of that attribute in that object. I need to store errors strings.
    The first problem derives from this one:
    It is not possible to execute validate function for a primitive attribute inside an structure.
    I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks.

    It was never free for the 3GS.
    It is if the initial sign-up is done on an iPhone 4, iPad or iPod touch 4th gen.
    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4436:
    After I sign up for Find My iPhone for free, can I use it on other iOS devices?
    Yes, if your devices are running iOS 4.2. For example, you can sign up for Find My iPhone for free on your iPad and use the same account information to sign in to MobileMe on your iPhone 3GS and turn on Find My iPhone.
