How to sync music from iPhone to new MacBook pro

Hi everyone I just got my first Mac computer so please excuse my ignorance. I have an iPhone that has a ton of music on it most of it from the iTunes Store but some songs are from CD's from people. I am a dance teacher so a good chunk of my music is not bought from iTunes. I need to sync the music from my iPhone to iTunes on my computer. Can someone please give me step by step directions on how to do this so I won't lose all the music that was not from iTunes. I also do not want the sync to erase the music from my iPhone because I need it for the gym. Thanks so much the help is so appreciated!

Any music you purchased from iTunes can be transferred, the rest will have to be imported to the MBP from the prior source.  Examine this discussion:

  • Need to get photos and music from iphone to new macbook pro

I gave my old macbook pro to my daughter and bought a new one. However, i need to find out how to get my music, photos, etc from my iphone onto my new computer. When I try to sync i get the message my iphone contents will be erased and replaced with computer's content. Help!

Photos can be offloaded to any computer. If a computer does not have iTunes installed, it treats the iPhone as a camera and gives an option to save the photos.
Anyway, photo's aren't synced are they. They are always stored on the iPhone and never a part of a backup.

  • Transfer all music from iphone to new macbook pro

I would like to transfer all my songs from my iphone which was sync with a PC to my new macbook book pro, i have transfered all the itunes purchased songs but cannot transfer all the other songs. I have transfered all contacts etc... to the new macbook, but no joy with the remaining songs. can anyone help?

The conventional way to do this would be to just grab the songs from the PC where they originated. However, if you'd rather pull them directly from the iPhone, you'll need a 3rd party tool such as PhoneView. I hope this helps!

  • How to sync music from iPhone onto new computer

I had my iPhone synced to my old computer. I connected it to my new computer and it won't allow me to put any of my old music onto iTunes without deleting it all first. How can I keep my old music and put it onto my new iTunes?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

how to transfer music from iphone to new computer

iTunes will transfer your purchases from your iPhone to your new computer by using File>Transfer Purchases. For the rest of the content that’s on your iPhone use a program called TouchCopy which works on Windows and the Mac. It transferred my music, photos, contacts and SMS to my new computer very well.

How to transfer music from iPhone to new Windows 7 PC?

Your iPhone is not a backup/storage device. You can transfer music from iPhone to iTunes: go to ~/Music/iTunes in your previous account (I presume you mean that you made a "new account" on your Mac) and copy all its contents to somewhere in your new account (not ~/Music/iTunes). Then drag the entire iTunes folder onto the iTunes app icon.

  • Is there any way to sync notes from iPhone 4 to MacBook Pro?

Is there any way to sync notes from iPhone 4 to MacBook Pro?

If the phone doesn't power on and isn't seen by the computer then you wouldn't be able to pull data off it with the USB connection to your computer.
You could pursue data recovery if the notes are very valuable, but the cost can be similar to having data recovered from a failed computer drive(possibly prohibitively expensive).

  • Music from iphone 4 to macbook pro

is there any way for me to transfer my music from my iphone 4 to my new macbook pro? i know you can do it with windows but why is it so hard to transfer to a Mac?? please let me know if there is any solution.

For purchased items: iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
For songs that you ripped from CD's, you'll need something like: http://thelittleappfactory.com/irip/
Or alternatively, if you still have access to the PC with the music on, then set up home sharing

  • Syncing ipad and iphone to new macbook pro

I have a pre-intel tower mac that the iphone and ipad are currently synced to.
I want to sync them both now to my new macbook pro. I am unsure about syncing in general as I haven't done it myself yet.
I'm a little worried about loosing data, and wondering what happens to the old tower they are currently synced with.. can I not longer sync them to it once they are synced to the MAcbook pro?
    any tips will be helpful.

Connect to the MacBook. It will ask you if you want to sync with the MacBook. It should then ask if you want to save what is on the iPad. Tell it yes, and it should do so. You should have your iPad apps backed up anyway, but I am pretty sure that you do not lose anything by transferring to another machine. The iPad does not care if it was a Mac or PC that it is synced with, it is not in either format. You do need to go and authorize your Macbook on your iTunes account.
Besides there is a step by step instruction on [How to transfer or sync iPad contents to Mac|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_or_sync_iPad_contents_toMac].
Hope it can do you a favor.

  • How to transfer playlist from Iphone 6 to Macbook pro

I lost my playlist on itunes, recovered from backup but playlist came back empty or missing songs. I have them on my iphone. How can I transfer them to my itunes on my mac? I am on Maverick and Itunes 12.

I have also meet this annoying issue a few days ago, and I google on the internet to search how to how to transfer playlist from iPhone to iTunes, and finally find the answer, I hope  that can help you.
Connect the iPhone and select it in iTunes. Click the gray disclosure triangle the left of the iPhone name in iTunes. Select the playlist you want on the iPhone then right click - Export.... Save it as .xml file on the desktop. Then iTunes menu File > Library > Import playlist and select the .xml file you saved on the desktop.
Besides, if you don't want to use this way to transfer playlists, you can try iPhone Transfer, this is a convenient software which can help you a lot in transferring playlists. Hope you can solve this problem finally.

  • Crashed Hard Drive, how can I sync music from Iphone to new one?

I understand that the iPhone is intended only to sync with only one computer and for that reason it won't allow me to transfer my music from my iPhone to another computer. Problem is my old hard drive died (along with all my music inside).
How can I transfer the files that are on my iPhone to the iTunes on my new hard drive? I do not have any other back ups as I assumed the iPhone would serve as a back up device itself.

I assumed the iPhone would serve as a back up device itself.
That was a pretty bad assumption. The iTunes content sync is one way: Computer to phone. Apple makes no provision to get content off your phone and into your iTunes library, as it's expected that you backup that library, and no, the iPhone is not a backup device, not designed as such and never intended to be such.
For purchased music from the iTunes store, you can File>Transfer Purchases, before syncing and after you've authorized your computer Store>Authorize this Computer. Music ripped on your own or photos synced to your phone will have to be extracted using third-party software before you do anything else:
