How to test and startup form/report 6i developer

Hi all:
I'm a newer in form/report 6i developer. I've installed form/report 6i developer but I don't know how to test if it is sucessful or not. Can you guy tell me how to test it please?

    Thanks Apple for introducing this nice little feature into iCal but then completely neglecting to write any sort of useful manual that can explain what to do when it doesn't work after you set it up for the first time.
    At long, long last we have finally got there after about 6 months of fiddling on and off, so I thought I had better post up the process since many have similar issues and it is hard to ascertain what is going on.
    Using an external email server was just a waste of time and it still wouldn't handle the replies properly even though it was supposed to handle '+addressing'. In the end I set up a special gmail account for the iCal server and finally got it working. I list here the process of configuring and testing the system to check that each little stage is working.
    Set up a Gmail account in Apple Mail to access and test in the usual way for any email account (e.g. [email protected].);
    Set the iCal server email to access the same email using the following settings:
    IMAP
    SMTP
    [email protected]
    smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 993 [x] Use SSL
    Port: 587 [x] Use SSL
    User & Pwd
    Login
    User & Pwd
    To test the settings:
    send out a test email from Apple Mail to a non-server email address that you can access to check it has been received;
    send out a test email from your non-server email account to [email protected] and check that it is received;
    this tells you that the GMail account is setup correctly and working
    Testing iCal:
    I noted that iCal was deleting any emails that arrive in the inBox in Apple Mail as soon as they arrived (this is to be expected);
    test that the invites are being sent from iCal by setting an event in iCal and inviting your non-server address (you may not see any sign of this in Apple Mail but you should catch it in the iCal server log and possibly in the Gmail sent mail box);
    check that the invite is received at your non-server account and Accept it in iCal on another machine - the reply is automatically sent back;
    the replies appear in Apple Mail but are quickly deleted by iCal. But their record for you to see is left in Gmail under 'All Mail';
    Accepted invites appear as a notification button on the top left hand bar on iCal where you click to acknowledge them and then the attendee is shown as a green circled tick instead of a grey circled ?.
    this shows that iCal invitations are working correctly. Whenever an event is updated, all invitees should be updated by email automatically.
    I hope this helps anyone - I could certainly have done with something similar when I started with looking at this.

  • How to add a new font into Report Builder and Oracle Forms/Reports Server?

    Hi,
    I've searched the forum and can't find this being discussed.
    My developers run Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2 on their XP laptops.
    Their reports run (in production) on Oracle Forms/Reports Server 10.1.2.0.2.
    This server runs on MS Windows 2003, SP2.
    They've got a client who wants reports using the "Garamond Western" font.
    So....how do I get this font onto the developer's Report Builder laptops, and onto the Oracle Forms/Reports Server?
    I've moved various 'Garamond' fonts into C:\WINDOWS\FONTS on both the laptops and the server, but neither seem to recognize it.

    This answers 1/2 of my question.
    The developer can now use Report Builder on his laptop, with the new fonts.
    But when he moves this new Report to the Oracle Application Server/Forms-Reports Server, it fails to use the new fonts.
    The Oracle App Server/Forms-Report Server is Version 10.1.2.0.2. It runs on MS Windows 2003, SP2.
    I have installed the exact same fonts on this server, into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts.
    I have used REGEDIT to change REPORTS_PATH....and placed C:\WINDOWS\Fonts; as the first value in this field.
    I have then stopped and restarted the Forms-Reports Server.

  • How to setup security for Forms, Reports, and Discoverer11g on WLS 10.3.5

    I am trying to setup simple security on my WebLogic server (linux OS) using a Windows Active Directory Server. I have an LDAP authentication provider created that links to a central Active Directory server, but I am unclear on where to go next.
    I want the user to login to the network from their PC but not have to login again if they decide to run an application like Discoverer, all of the authentication would be handled by the Windows AD server. Has anyone else done this before on WebLogic?
    Are there white papers out there that would explain the steps required to accomplish this? Thanks for any help.

    Soooo...I need to install OID on top of my Forms, Reports, and Discoverer install? Would it be better to install the SSO and OID before installing any other middle ware products like Forms, Reports, and Discoverer? Then extend the domain to include Forms, Reports, and Discoverer?
    Can you point me to documentation that would help me get this issue worked out?

    PS. When the Application Server 10g r. 10.1.3 will include the Forms-reports services add-in and the Portal ?

    FRS is an installation option under Application Server (Business Intelligence). In a full blown installation (which includes more advanced features, but none specific to how Forms work), there are two components: an infrastructure and the application server (that name gets used more than one way, sometimes context matters).
    For a simpler, Forms and Reports only version of this, several years ago (probably from all the howls of complaints regarding how poorly iAS was first deployed/developed) Oracle came out with a standalone version of Forms and Reports. It still required the Enterprise Edition licensing under iAS, but at least it precluded the necessity of having the other component (the infrastructure) installed.
    Once FRS is installed, it can be managed via an Enterprise Manager type of Web app (it has the same look and feel of other Web-based controllers of Oracle apps such as Database Control and Grid Control).
    So, if all you need is Forms and Reports, no bells and whistles, use the FRS version. FRS is fairly reliable in terms of staying up, you'll probably have more issues with keeping the database up as much as FRS is.

    I can see that by removing the reference to libs/AdobeLibraryAPI.js in Index.html i am able to "test" on the desktop.

    and that data is bought in via the fulfilment XML feed and the parse method is called on Librarycollection.
    I have made the changes to hook up the viewer to bring in some folios that we are developing.
    However, although this provides the ability to test and develop on the desktop in one form since we are using JS and Backbone, there are various checks within the provided code to see if ADOBE.isAPIAvailable.
    If it is, then the behaviour is different than on the desktop, so once the viewer is packaged up and put on the IPad there is disparity between what you were able to check and test on the desktop version against what is shown on the IPad.
    The question therefore is... is there a quick way to develop and test on the Ipad ... it doesnt seem like a viable option to develop blindly on the desktop and then package up the content viewer within Adobe DPS to check how those changes behave on the IPad?
    To re-iterate the viewer is to make use of backbone / js example to provide greater functionality and options for customisation.

  • Difference between Oracle Application Express and Oracle Forms/Reports

    hi guys,
    i have just use oracle apex to create some report generation tools through the web. know that this is what is known as html db in the past.
    however, i have not really touch oracle forms and reports before, neither have i really seen how they work.. but soemhow i feel oracle report/forms seems to be more.. then this oracle apex.
    it includes integration with web services, java and pl/sql .
    but i still cant really figure out what is the actual general main difference ?
    is it that for oracle forms there can be some programming logic inside , whereas for apex , it is just using what is available from what oracle provides ..
    i am read oracle form white paper, but seriously, i am not a very web guy. it has alot of components that i am not familiar with.
    so i hope you guys can just give me a more general rough idea.

    ... most Forms & Reports users will tend to be old installed base customers using applications developed many years ago in F&R such as insurance company cores and even banking cores. Going from client/server F&R6 to "web" F&R10g is costly as you have to license an application server and most likely need to migrate to recent versions of the DB in case the customer is still on oracle 8 (common occurrence). So many customers opt. to not migrate or to simply invest in new web enabled solutions.
    Using the migration tool f&r installed base will have an easier job of migrating and at a price of whatever DB edition they are using and probably be able to do it with the same people who maintain their f&r systems provided they learn a bit about web technologies.
    what might be interesting to see is performance perception of users on f&r vs. apex...

  • Extending the beta!  How to compose and post defect reports.

    There is no such thing as bug-free software, and LR is no exception to that. Even more, v1.0 releases, even those with long beta programs, can be more brittle than expected. We've already seen a few things that look like real defects which could be addressed in a future release. This is normal and expected, and now a team at Adobe will be dedicated to maintaining the LR release into the future.
    This posting is sort of asking the question "how can we help", with a fair bit of opinionated ranting of my own on the subject. Take my comments with a grain of salt, of course, but I'm not sure I say anything that hasn't already been said a million times before.
    Firstly, is there a place where bug reports should be posted that Adobe will see? Is there a document that describes how Adobe would prefer such reports to come in, perhaps with suggestions for supplemental material they'd like to see passed along with the defect report? Not only does this provide a place where Adobe can track raw bug reports, it can make perturbed users feel better, since they've been able to do something specific and active.
    Full disclosure: I am a software developer by trade, and I maintain shipped releases of code for a living. I know how I like to see problem reports and it drives me *crazy* when a we get a vague report formatted with no punctuation, in all lower-case, containing no specific details. Usually these come with bizarre screen-shots embedded into a Microsoft Word file. Not helpful.
    It drives me crazy because I know there is a bug in there somewhere, it just isn't necessarily the bug seen by the end-user or understood at first blush by the developer. I call this the "real bug", and it can be hard to suss out, sometimes.
    I assume that the following basics are /probably/ helpful when reporting defects against LR v1.0:
    - System details. At least the exact platform version and release. Possibly with a short run-down on CPU speed, amount of RAM. Mac users should probably be sure to clarify what CPU they are running.
    - Clear steps to reproduce, if possible. Describe the problem exactly as you see it, being sure to use the language and nomenclature that the application uses. Capitalize app-specific controls exactly as you see them in the app, to make it clear what you are doing.
    Try to reduce the problem to the barest set of operations.
    - For things like "hangs" and "crashes", I'm guessing that most supported platforms have a way of capturing these details. I cannot and will not speak for Adobe. But! if I was looking at a crash or hang, I'd want any and all crash logs (OS X) or Dr. Watson (Win32) that were related to the former and the sample output (OS X) or Process Explorer dump (Win32) for the latter.
    Details on how and where to post defect reports would be nice. Sounds like a FAQ item, at the least!
    Finally, here are some things that drive me crazier and I feel are *not* helpful:
    - Defect reports that intersperse observed behaviour with guesses about what the problem really is. No one knows better the potential places where symptoms could stem from except those people maintaining that codebase. I'm a smart guy and code for a living. I would never presume to know the precise inner-workings of Lightroom without access to the source and probably a run at it in a development environment.
    - Arguing for how terrible or disastrous a particular "bug" is, and how it needs to be addressed as critical for immediate correction. Everyone, including me, finds their own bugs most critical. The problem is that software maintenance requires putting everything into perspective, evaluating each defect on its own merit, as well as how risky a fix for the defect might be. This last part cannot be minimized. Changing code incurs risk. The idea is to carefully shepherd a new release into each new version while maintaining integrity and stability. No matter how bad a bug is, introducing a fix that simply

  • How to test and configure custom extensions in Flash Pro CC?

    Hi,
    How do you install custom CS extensions in Flash Pro CC for testing and debugging before they have been signed and packaged?
    We have a custom extension for Flash Pro developed in-house using the CS SDK that we've been using with flash pro CS5 and CS6 but we're having trouble getting it to work in CC and I'd like to run it locally in test/debug mode.
    With flash pro CS6 and CS5 it was possible to test extensions by copying the output folder from flash builder into the CS Service Manager root folder (e.g. /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS6ServiceManager) and setting PlayerDebugMode to 1 in the CSXS preferences.
    I've added the PlayerDebugMode=1 flag to com.adobe.CSXS.4.plist however, I can't find the equivalent service manager folder for Flash Pro CC to copy the extension into.
    Is there a different folder to use for CC or is the process for testing extensions completely different? (are extensions written in the CS SDK even compatible with CC?)
    I'm running Mac OS Lion.

    Thanks, that explains a lot.
    I'm afraid I'm a bit confused about what the preferred way of developing extensions is going ahead. There seems to be a lot of conflicting documentation on the adobe site, e.g. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite.html  seems like the top page for extension documentation but it only talks about CS SDK 2.0 which uses CSXS and doesn't seem to be compatible with creative cloud apps.
    Then there's CS Extension Builder 2.1 which looks like it supports Flash Pro CC but isn't mentioned in the pages you linked too and it doesn't mention JSFL, but talks about the CSAW library.
    Do you know if:
    * The CS SDK has been dropped completely? 
    * CS Extenstion Builder is deprecated? (I can't see it as an option in the list of Creative Cloud apps)
    * Is then any documentation/utilities to help migrate existing CSXS extensions to work with creative cloud apps?

    The biggest difference between Forms 6i and Forms 11g is: 1) the ability to use features of the 11g database, 2) use Java Beans in your form to extend/enhance the functionaly and look-n-feel, 3) import Java directly into your form and interact with the Java through PL/SQL, 4) and most importantly, it is the current supported version of Forms. These are just the highlights. There are other differences.
    In all honesty, what features you use should be driven by the needs of your customer. If your customer needs the application to use the response from a web service, then I would look at implementing a Java Bean in your app to support this customer driven need. I wouldn't recommend adding features just for the sake of adding features if they don't provide direct benefit to your customer. Just my opinion. :)

    Your best bet is to copy anything that you want to save to another drive and then erase and format it MS-DOS FAT-32 for cross platform sharing or Guid / Mac OS Extended for Mac only use.
