How to transfer data retrieved from a bean, into requestScope

I have a jsf page called viewCustomer.jsp, which is backed by a controller/mbean with a name viewCustomerController.
This page is always called via a request which carries the customer accountID in its request attributes. Hence in order to load the customer details i am using a f:view beforephase call which acts before the render phase. This retrieves a number of beans from of different types. For example, each customer can have an address.
each addressbean has an ID field which is the primary key to the addresses. If i want to delete the address, i need to send this primary key via a requestAttribute to a controller which will delete it.
hence to delete the address i have a form such as:-
<h:form>
<h:inputHidden value="#{viewCustomerController.customerAddressBean.id}" />
<h:commandButton value="Delete Address" action="#{viewCustomerController.deleteCustomerAddress}" />
</h:form>
The problem with this, is that because the addressbean is only added before the render phase, on presssing the delete address button, i get a null exception, because customerAddressBean doesnt exist yet.
What i want to do, is that upon pressing the delete address button, the id value should be immediately sent to a requestAttribute called 'addressId', and not back to the backing bean.
i. e. (if jsf had an assignment operator) it would be something like
<h:form>
<h:inputHidden value="requestScope.addressID = #{viewCustomerController.customerAddressBean.id}" />
<h:commandButton value="Delete Address" action="#{viewCustomerController.deleteCustomerAddress}" />
</h:form>
basically, the data should be read from the backing bean, but it shouldnt be written back to the backing bean.
now i realize that if i allow my database to repopulate the backing bean earlier, the customerAddressBean will be populated, and then the first listing would work. But that would require a second set of trips to the database with no meaning but to repopulate the backing bean which seems like quite a waste.
In the case of the address, i could populate the propertly with a dummy addressbean, but this would not work in the case of properties which are lists of beans.
So in summation. How do i transfer data that has been read from a property of a backing bean, into a request attribute on a commandbutton click, without putting the data back into the property of the backing bean.

Hello Anu,
There are different hardware options that you have here. The basic things that you need to keep in mind is that the PDA that you purchase runs on Pocket PC and has either a CompactFlash or a PCMCIA slot in it. The driver that you would be using for your LabVIEW PDA application would NI-DAQmx Base Ver 2.0.1. You can refer to its readme for more information on the supported hardware. Also you can check at this page for more information on the supported devices. About your original question, using LabVIEW PDA you can create a text file for storing data and separate the data points with a comma. So that this way you would be able to open the file in Excel if you wanted to. All the file I/O related VIs can be found in the function palette at Programming >> File I/O.

  • How to transfer data from one client to another client

    Dear Experts,
    Please explain how to transfer data (Materials) from one client to another client?
    Thanks,
    Ajay Kumar

    Hi Ajay,
    Check any of below methods
    Refer thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/171981 where people use IDOCs for master data transfer.
    OR
    This is done by BASIS team, by client refresh or client copy. Check with your basis team for this and there is some predefined time when they plan this activity, and in most project they do it once in 3 months etc to get production environment in test system which helps to resolve issues of production by creating similar case in test system.
    Check below threads for more information
    http://sap.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/sap-basis/cleint-copy-vs-client-refresh-1377848
    http://basissap.blogspot.in/2008/05/what-is-client-copy.html
    OR
    You can download data from one client and upload in another through BDC or LSMW.

  • How to transfer data using the clipboard

    Does anyone know how to transfer data (string) from the clipboard to labview?
    I am trying to write C++ code using win32 API using the calls, OpenClipboard, Getclipboard and CloseClipboard functions. The problem is LV crashes when there is a call to the library function. Perhaps I am going about this the wrong way.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

    Perhaps this approach will give you the answer. I wrote a VI that uses the Win32 API directly. It calls OpenClipboard with the calling VI's window handle, then calls GetClipboard with the GW_TEXT constant to get a memory block handle. I lock the memory block with GlobalLock so other applications can't mess with it. I next call lstrcopynA , initializing a arg1 as a C String with 256 bytes and using the memory block handle as arg2, with the length of arg1 minus one as arg3. Your clipboard text is in the string output. Now call GlobalUnlock and CloseClipboard and you're done!

    ok - since you'll be sharing it with a PC - connect it to your windows pc - then format from there - instead of NTFS format - choose exFAT.
    or, you can read the link below on how to do it in dos mode.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/how-can-i-forma t-external-drive-in-exfat-not-in/0f6bf19a-19d6-4470-ae05-53ddf26bb476?msgId=1860 eae3-3488-4eea-8326-f87b89d9851b
    once you've formatted it - you can now use it in both your macbook and windows computer.

    Hi Team,
    How to transfer data from one UIBB (component is FPM_POWL_UIBB) to another UIBB ( Componenet is FPM_FORM_UIBB).
    I know the procedure how to transfer data from FPM_LIST_UIBB to FPM_FORM_UIBB using wiring concept, but from FPM_POWL_UIBB am unable to do that.
    Appreciate your quick response.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Satya.

    Hi Bruce,
    Thanks for quick response.
    I will explain my requirement in detail.
    IN FPM I have used  5 UIBB's ,
      1) FPM_POWL_UIBB with Custom component and its configuration
      2) FPM_FORM_UIBB which is a standard componet UIBB's their configurations and its feeder classes are as below,
                 EAMS_WDC_ORD_LONGTEXT_CFG       CL_EAMS_UI_FD_ORD_LTXT
                 EAMS_WDC_ORD_HEADER_CFG          CL_EAMS_UI_FD_ORD_HEADER
                 EAMS_WDC_ORD_RESPONSIB_CFG     CL_EAMS_UI_FD_ORD_HEADER
      In the above FPM application if I choose a record in FPM_POWL_UIBB it has to be appear in the respective standard UIBB's in edit mode so user can change according to his/her comfort and will save.
    I have tried Singleton method also but not able to transfer data as I got confused which interface I shoul use in singleton class , as I was working with FPM_POWL_UIBB I may not use IF_FPM_GUIBB_FORM.
    Please suggest me on this.
    Thanks,
    Satya.

    Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
    Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
    iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
    For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
    - Senuti - http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/

    Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141 - dates from 2008 and some outdated information now.
    Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/ - Information about use in disk mode pertains only to older model iPods.

  • How to Transfer the iPhone from one computer to another Win XP

    All
    I got my wife a new macbook pro, running Windows XP prof. She has an iphone 3G with 16 GB memory running 3.0.1. So..she wanted to transfer the sync function from her PC to her macbook. Of course, Apple was of NO help at all (but did want to charge us $69.95 since her iphone is out of warranty, and this was an iphone not a mac problem, hmmm..). Took me lots of digging, but here is how you transfer you iphone from one computer to another:
    1. Move you itunes library from the old computer to the new one. To do this, you do NOT just copy it. This is as good a link to use as any to see how to do it, but search the internet and you can find instructions:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7-10242259-49.html
    2. Transfer your applications you have purchased to the new computer. To do this, open itunes in the new computer, hook up your phone and click on File>transfer purchases (from itunes store) to computer. This will move your applications to the new computer.
    3. Export your MS outlook calendar, contacts, notes, etc. to the new computer by saving each of these categories as a PST file (file>export>then choose the category and type of file)...and then copy these PST files to your new computer and import them into MS outlook.
    4. Copy your playlists from itunes on your old computer to your new computer. This link may be helpful or search the internet again if you need to:
    http://osx.tribe.net/thread/08fd0e5e-f1d0-450b-8de5-9f7cb5bd278d
    5. Now...the important part...how to transfer all your settings from the iphone to the new computer....this is the part that was hard to find online, but finally got it: NOTE: THE BACKUP THAT ITUNES MAKES BACKS UP THE APPLICATION SETTINGS BUT NOT THE APPS SO THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO TRANSFER THE APPS TO THE NEW COMPUTER. The settings have all the data you put into your apps, email settings, preferences, etc...so its a huge time save to transfer these to the new computer also.
    -Sync your iphone with your old computer to have a backup in case you mess up...in that case you can restore from your old computer and start over
    -Plug your iphone into the new ocmputer and start itunes. It will detect your phone (I assume you have already authorized your new computer to use the library and playlists and apps that you moved)
    -Right click on the "iphone" on the left bar...you will see a popup menu...click on "BACKUP". Let it backup your iphone to the new computer. It will NOT sync the phone
    -When the backup is done....copy the backup file to a temp directory to be safe. The backup is located in "documents and settings">user name>applications>apple computer>mobile sync. If you cannot see it, you need to open windows explorer (not internet explorer) and go to tools>folder options>view and click on "show hidden files and folders" Note YOU CANNOT JUST COPY THE BACKUP FROM THE OLD COMPUTER TO THE NEW COMPUTER AS SUGGESTED ON SOME WEB SITES...THIS DOES NOT WORK, ITUNES WILL NOT IDENTIFY THE BACKUP EVEN IF YOU PUT IT IN THE FOLDER IN THE NEW COMPUTER THAT MIRRORS THE FOLDER LOCATION IN THE OLD COMPUTER.
    -OK now you are ready...click restore on the iphone and restore the phone to factory settings. This will happen in a few minutes (10-15 mins).
    -The phone will reboot and itunes will recognize the phone again...as a restored phone. It will then ask you if you want to restore it from the backup..say YES. You then need to go through all the itunes tabs and click on everything you want to sync to the phone (playlists, movies, podcasts, ringtones, etc). Once you are done going thru the tabs click "apply" and the sync will start. Go out, to a movie, to bed, whatever because it will take hours to sync.
    -Once the sync is done...voila...your iphone has been moved with ALL the settings to the new computer. Check it. Then you can delete the backup you put into the temp folder if it is OK
    -Deauthorize your old computer
    This worked for Win XP...should work for Vista. The whole process took many hours so don't rush through it (i'm guessing 12 hours total work).
    Can I send apple a bill for tech support?????
