How to understand an existing project

Hello everybody
I am very new to java programming joined as a programmer in a company where already an application was developed by an external consultant.
now I have to understand and extend that programme. IDE is eclipse and GUI is developed using swings.
so kindly can any one please help me how to start to understand this project as early as possible.
Or any free software tool which can help me in discovering and graphically representing the deep, internal logic of Java code.
thanking you in adavance.
with hopes to get help from you.
Kiran.

Run the program in a debugger and watch the treads and execution parts.
You could also run it in a profiler to get detail information about the applications behaviour.

  • How to auto split existing projects in Aperture 3?

Hi, I would like to batch split my existing projects in aperture 3 (latest version) so they're all split with one date of pictures in them, and I would also really like to name all of them by the date that the pictures were taken. Like for example, I have an album that's named "Album 1" and it has dates from July 24th-August 17, and I would like to have an individual album or project for every date, and also for the new split albums to be named by the date of the photos inside of it. How do I do this? Thank you!

    Hi,
Sorry, I can't help you there - I suspect it may be an Applescript job, but don't know Applescript myself.
Thinking about it some more, you could do it sort-of manually by first creating a new Project then searching all Projects for images falling within a set date range. You then select all the images returned by that search and drag them to your new Project.  Rename the Project accordingly, and rinse, lather, repeat.
This approach will be viable only if you have a limited number of images across not too big a date range.  Trying this on a big collection will do your head in.
I understand what you want to do now, but still don't understand why.

I hope you can find any documents such as UML diagrams, use cases etc. which actually describe the reasons why things have been done. If there's no useful documentation, you could try importing source code into UML modelling tools and look whether there's a hint in the design. If you predecessor was a former procedural guy and hasn't incorporated OOP, you're probably lost -- in that case, start talking to your users.

  • How to import an existing project into another existing project?

I will need to bring in all the contents of a smaller WebHelp project into a larger WebHelp project.
I have found some discussion of merging, but I think this is a different matter (unless I am mistaken). I want to permanently incorporate the content of the smaller project into the larger project.
What is the best method for doing this please?
    Mike

    Hello again
Sure, you can import the topics as a "batch" by selecting many topics at once.
As for the links, I'm thinking that as long as you maintain the relative locations between the linked topics, that all should be fine.
What I mean by the relative locations is to say that if you have a folder structure in the source project, you will need to ensure you have the identical folder structure in the destination. Then ensure the topics are copied to the exact folders.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to import an existing project into DTR

I have one question for NWDI:
    There are two senarios:
    A. I created a web dynpro project without NWDI. Now I want to import it into DTR. Is there any workaround?
    B. My NWDI crashed and can not be recovered. Then I install a new empty NWDI. Since I checked out all the DCs to my client side. Is there any workaround to re-import the project into the empty NWDI?

    Hi,
You can transfer local DC project into NWDI. I have a doc which tells the procedure to Convert local CAF DC project into NWDI. For Web Dynpro project the procedure will be same. So you can go through the doc
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/3e479a6a-0b01-0010-62bd-dcfe09c67c41
Without NWDI you can also do your development by usind DCs in your local plugin folder. Here is one doc also.

I think it will help you to solve your problem.

I have copied videos onto an external hard drive. to free memory on my macbook. When I try to delete these I am woarned that I will not be able to use this video in existing projects
How do I point iMovie to events in my external  hard drive so I can play projects which use them?
    MacBook, iMovie 9.0.4

    Hi
You can do this - by not doing it the way You describe as it will not work.
    a. the external hard disk - MUST BE - Mac OS extended (hfs) formatted -
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - will work for most things - BUT NOT FOR VIDEO (iMovie, iDVD or FinalCut doesn't matter)
    b. Do not alter or move any folder named
    • iMovie Event's - or -
    • iMovie Project's
    on DeskTop/Finder - at all
All moving's of Events and Projects must be done within the iMovie Application - then connections will not break.
(move them back and see if iMovie remembers them - then do move as described above)

  • How to import existing projects into JDeveloper 11g

I am trying to work with JDeveloper for my application and want to know whether it is possible to import existing projects into the work space in JDeveloper. I am currently working with eclipse IDE and this feature is available in it. How can I connect to clear case from JDeveloper? In eclipse it is very easy to connect to clear case with a plugin installed and check out, check in files from the source control. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The basic way to import code is to use the "New->Projects->Project from existing code" or "project from WAR" dialogs to create your project.
You then need to do some tweaking in the project properties->Content (and sub nodes such as resources and Web content).
And also set the correct JARs/Libraries in the project properties.
You can use the help->check for update to download the extension to JDeveloper that will let you integrate with Clearcase to do version management.
This how-to might help you with your migration:

  • How to create Document Structure for existing project in Solution Manager

    Hi gurus
We have all the project document saved using Solution manager . we have ended with Phase1.
We are starting Phase2 and they are asking me to creat different folder as Phase to in existing project and store all the Documents
Can any one please tell me how to create New folder and store the documents in Existing project
Point will given for helpfull Answer
    Thanks
    Bhaskar

    Hi Bhaskar,
Assuming you have full authorisations, the procedure is simple.
    Please go SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN transaction.
From the menu please select Project -> Copy
In the ensuing screen, key in your desired project name, scroll through the other checkboxes to see if you are happy with the default choices; if not, take corrective actions.
In the last set of radi buttons "Desired behaviour at later version comparison", the default choice (2nd entry there - Adjust target project to the original of the source project) is fine.
From your scenario, since you do not have a Template -> Implementation Project functionality and instead are copying from one Implementation to the other, this radio button is of little consequence.
    Execute the process.
In the window that comes up, please choose Local Object, assuming that you do not want to capture the whole contents into a 'Transport'. This is more required if you are aiming to copy the project from one SolMan instance to another.
It would give an information message "Generating in batch job (Name ......)
In a few minutes, you'd receive an intimation of the Project being copied.
That's pretty much about it. Have a check on the newly created project in SOLAR01.
Please let me know if you have any doubts.
    Best regards,
    Srini

  • How do I move existing Logic projects to an external hard drive?

My internal hdd is getting close to capacity on my iMac so i've purchased an external 500GB USB hdd.
I have about 10 existing projects that i'd like to move to my new drive.
These projects consist of WAV files imported from a portable digital recorder, fresh recorded tracks using my audio interface, and midi tracks. Most of my tracks are at the 'final mix' stage and are sounding pretty sweet
Would it benefit me to move my Logic projects to my external drive, or should I scrap the idea and move my huge itunes library instead? If it is worth moving my Logic projects - what is the best way to do it? I really don't want to have to remix, re-record anything. I also don't want to get lost in Finder.
I'm quite new to Logic but I intend to 'use best practice' if possible. I get the impression that using an external hard drive with Logic may offer performance gains. My audio interface is firewire (M-Audio FW 410). The USB external hdd was brought to avoid firewire conflicts.
Any tips would be most welcome.
    Thanks in advance. Rich

In theory, you should be able to copy all of your projects to the external and open and use them exactly as before with no problems and no need to re-mix anything...
BUT, and its a big BUT...
Are you sure all of your projects were started AS projects with all the audio files, instrument samples etc. stored in the relevant folders in the project's folder?
Before doing anything, go through all of your "projects", make sure they ARE projects (there should be a project folder, the song file stored in the project folder, with audio, undo etc. folders within the main project folder for each one) - if they are not, do a "save as project" - it should give you a number of options to copy any external audio files etc. to the project folder. If for any reason it doesn't I would then choose "project - consolidate" from the main file menu, which will give you the same options. Even if you are SURE that all your projects ARE projects, I would choose "consolidate project" just to be sure...
You should then be able to proceed... but don't delete the originals until you are sure everything is working fine. I would even suggest backing up the originals in another location (it could even be a back-up folder on the same external), so you can just move them straight back to the original location if there are any problems.
When I first started using Logic many years ago there was no option to save projects, and I learnt the hard way to create the folder structure that logic now does for you. But even so, unless you started out knowing how to use this function, its possible some of your audio files are still stored in the wrong location. "Consolidate project" should solve this.
As for the USB HD - I would avoid using a USB drive for audio. It is said that USB 2 is faster than firewire 400, but I don't know any musician or film maker that would use one.
You can daisy chain firewire devices with no problems in my experience. If you do experience problems I might suggest you search up on any posts to do with M-Audio interfaces and Macs...
    Good Luck!

  • How can I build an existed project into eclipse IDE?

    Hello, all,
I did not use eclipse IDE before. Someone gave me an completed directory which
was a project (including all classes and source code) built by eclipse IDE. I
want to rebuild it into eclipse on my computer. But eclipse only has "new" item
to generate new project, class, etc. How can I rebuild the exist project in
    eclipse IDE?
I appreciate your help or any suggestion!
    Thanks
    John

    Easiest way:
Copy the folder into the Eclipse Workspace folder
Create the "new" project with the same name as that folder.
Eclipse should detect an existing project with the same name, inform you of this, and proceed from there.
