How to update a deployed process

Hi,
What's the proper way to update a process already deployed to weblogic server?
Here's the situation: I've previously deployed my application to the weblogic server, but then I modified the process by adding an additional human task to the start of the process. I deploy it with the same deploy settings as before, and I expect that when I initiate the process, the first task in the worklist will be the new human task I created. But when I tested it, it still shows the old first task. I tried undeploying the old composite first, then redeploying, still same problem.
I thought I might need to increment the version id, so I changed the deployment to set the composite version to "1.0.1" but this time the deployment failed with the error that the unique constraint on SOAINFRA.BPM_CUBE_GLOBALCREATETASK_PK was violated (the PK on this table is PROCESSID)
Any idea how I should go about this?
Thanks!

Hi,
we have the same problem actually.
The life cycle of the complete workflow is over one year.
(We are using subprocess, call them dynamicly... but when processes is waiting a notification, that is not a solution!)
--> Actually we use the API of the workflow to fork processes (with an option that use the new version of definition), "retry" activities in the new process on the same "position" as in the "old process" (Note: That's not always possible - if activity renammed or deleted by example --> Go back to previous correct activity).
That is working fine... for 85% of our cases.
Our actual problem is that some of our process use inter process synchronisation. To solve that, we need the execution sequence of the old activities.
:-( Actually whe can't retrieve the "correct execution sequence" of the activities.
If some of you knows how to retrieve the order of execution order of the activities, I will help us a lot.
(The problem is that there is a begin date for that, but precision is "second"... not enough precise... should be at least a milli second).
--> We are trying to find out the execution sequence by analysing the process definition... But it seems that it will be complicated and long to program.
Any help is welcome.

• How to Update the Final Process Date in Termiantion Screen Oracle HRMS

Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement where i need to update the Final Process Date. is there any standard api to update the final process date. i know there is a update to update the termination details like actual termination date,last standard process but how about final process date.
Eg : For one assignment the final process date is 31-March-2013 and as of now he is a exemployee in system as he was terminated on 31-DEC-2012. now i want to prepone the final process date to 31-JAN-2012.
any replies on this is highly appreciable.
Thanks in advance.

I would reverse the termination then terminate the employee with the right FPD.
hr_ex_employee_api.reverse_terminate_employee
hr_ex_employee_api.actual_termination_emp
hr_ex_employee_api.final_process_emp
Maybe also the below might work:
hr_periods_of_service_api.update_pds_details
Please note that there should be no payroll result in your case after January payroll.
On a side note, you can also termiante employee without setting the FPD, and then put it only when approved by the business - in this way wou can avoid the prepone.

• How to stop a deploying process?

Hi all,
I am deploying two functions for almost half an hour, and they seems to be deploying forever. I check the repository browser, and status says 'ready'.
How can I stop the depolying? or anybody know why this happens?
thanks

Thanks for your reply!
I did this. Sometimes successfully, sometimes not...
But I think this not normal and this is not THE solution.
Why does Apple didn't fix this issue? As I already wrote: this problem last FOR YEARS.
See, I'm very simple: I see a button, I click on it, I'm expecting it works...
Am I asking for "too much"?
I'm also very surprised not finding anybody discussing this issue on the forums...
Should I be the only one experiencing the problem?
I'm not very proud of this particularity...

• How to publish an own and deployed process? Via WSDL?

Hi There,
i'm kinda new to BPM and i got some questions. I've gone through some tutorials and created my own process. I build and deployed it, startet it through the NWA and tested it (mostly human activitys and mappings). Everything works fine but i'm facing some unsolved problems:
1. Is it possible to get the sourcecode of the deployed process from the repository? I've already downloaded the WSDL-file from the "Single Service Administration" and want to get the process itself too.
2. Within the "Services Registry" i published the deployed process. I imported this published WSDL within the process composer (import per Service Registry) and linked it in an automated activity, but it seems that the process can't invoke itself. Neither when i use the imported interface at the end-event it doesn't "restart". My question here is: can't a process invoke itself or does it just not work with the default wsdl? It would be intresting for me, if a process could invoke another process when it ends.
3. Is there any good tutorial how to create an own WSDL-file with the process composer? I haven't seen any yet.
Any information would be helpful!
With kind regards,
Markus

Hi Fazal,
thanks for your answer. I had already found the process in the web service navigator. I tested it there and it was ok. But i wasnt able to find it in the UDDI-registry, so i downloaded the WSDL-File from the "single service administration" and registered it in the UDDI-registry. I imported this published WSDL-file from the UDDI-registry within the process composer to be able to test if a process can invoke itself, but it didnt work. Than i tried a new process which only has an automated activity which trys to invoke my first process, but this doesn't seem to work too. I need to know how i can invoke another process within an automated task or at the end-event of a process. I think this could be helpfull if i want to create Sub-Process and route input and output data through it.
I also need to know how i can create my own WSDL-file for a process which i want to create with the process composer, because not every process i want to define has an empty start nor an empty end. Is there any good tutorial for this? Somebody also mentioned that he/she created an own WSDL-file with the PI server, but i dont know how to do that. It is also confusing when you got ~ten or more default services within the web service navigator.
With kind regards
Markus

• How to update the payload of a BPEL process instance

Hi I have another question.
How do I update the payload of a BPEL process instance without the activity being a Human Task. I know there are ton's of example showing how to update the payload of a user task using BPEL API's. But in my case I need to update the payload of a BPEL process instance which has no human task.

Thanks
For confirming that the payload in the BPEL process instance is read-only. Now I can see what alternatives I come up with besides the DB save option.
Guys if you can take the time to answer/comment on another question I have posted in this forum that will be great

• How to improve the ODSI deployment process ?

At at moment we are using the attached script to create new dataspaces and deploy new data services into our environment.
Our environment is running 4 managed server cluster in the SUN Unix env.
We have noticed the process takes a lot of time. For example the deployment of the new data service may take up to 20-30 minutes.
The process is always putting the WebLogic servers into *"ADMIN"* mode that prevents access to other data spaces and applications.
And on some occasions the deployment does not completes leaving the server in the ADMIN mode.
Is there any way we can improve the process to avoid locking the server into the ADMIN mode and possibly speed up the deployment?

Mike, I will try to do the incremental deployments but sometimes we need to delete the old dataspaces and do full deploy.
So if run the above full deployment script all applications are suspended and the server is transition into Admin mode, and then server waits for a server lock , Seats like this forever and I have to kill the deployment process and Resume the servers:
Don't know what causing it.Any ideas ?
It looks like can not get a server lock ....
Thanks Peter L

• Can deploy process but not workflow (10.1.3.10 beta)

I tried to deploy several of the demo BPEL processes, but each time the process is deployed successfully, but the workflow is not. Fro example OrderApproval.
I tried setting properties in the build.properties file, but apparently to no avail. Also changing them via the project ant properties did not help.
It looks like the payload JSP did not get deployed -- most of the process works, including the workflow bit, as long as one does not try to look into the worklist entry contents (which gives the 404 Not Found error, same as in the 10.1.2 version when the JSP page is not in the proper directory of hw/worklistexpress).
I noticed some strange behavior in the build properties as stored in the project file (OrderApproval.jpr). There are a lot of equivalent ("fromjdev") entries in the oracle.jdeveloper.ant.AntRunConfiguration hash table. Also, each time after I run a deploy, the value for oc4jinstancename is removed and a corresponding <null/> entry shows up in the file. I tried cleaning up redundant fromjdev entries, but it did not help.
Also hard coding the oc4jinstancename attribute to soademo did not help.
Any suggestions on how to fix the build? See below for a log; I added printing of the deploy attributes to the build.xml file.

When I change the rmi ports to 23793 via the project properties and save, they get updated correctly in the .jpr file. However, the deploy still fails, because somehow JDeveloper resets the values back to 23791 (just as it routinely wipes out the oc4jinstancename) and writes them to the .jpr file.
How can I make the new value 'stick'?
I tried changing the port of the LocalBPELApplicationServer from 23791 to 23793 but got:
Error while getting remote MBeanServer for url: ormi://localhost:23793/default:
Error reading application-client descriptor: Error communicating with server: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
javax.naming.CommunicationException: Connection refused: connect [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect]
When I click on the [+] next to the connection I get this:
oracle.oc4j.admin.jmx.shared.exceptions.JMXRuntimeException: Error while getting remote MBeanServer for url: ormi://localhost:23793/default
at oracle.oc4j.admin.jmx.client.CoreRemoteMBeanServer.fetchMBeanServerEjbRemote(CoreRemoteMBeanServer.java:499)

<snip>
And even then, the deploy process still forces the port to 23791.
I restarted the server and JDeveloper, but the problem persists.

• How to delete the deployed composite in weblogic server 11g

Can someone tell me how to delete the deployed composite in weblogic server 11g ?I'm facing an issue where the weblogic server is getting started and immediately after sometime the server changes to "Force shutdown"..When i checked the logs,there is an error in one of the composite i deployed..So now i wanted to delete the deployed composite?Please help ....
Thanks

Hi
1. Deleting a domain will not hold any references. But make sure that under your user_projects/applications also remove the folder that matches with your domain. Basically under user_projects folder you will see 2 folders named applications and domains. When you create a domain say mySoaDomain, it will crate a folder with the same name under applications folder also with few files like em.ear. If you do this, then you can crate a new soa domain and use the same old name.
2. NOW comes the most important thing. If you create a new SOADomain, at one point, you had to give details for soainfra and mds schemas. If you give your current existing db details (that was used for your old deleted domain), then you may still have the issues. Because the soainfra db may still have the instances for your old process.
3. If you really want to have a full clean soa domain, here is what you do:
a) Run rcu and drop the existing schemas for soainfra and mds.
b) Run rcu again and create above schemas again.
c) Now create SOADomain using config wizard and refer above clean rcu db and you are all set.
3. Under your domain root folder, just searh for files named with your workflow and you should see the .jar location.

• How to update attributes from OIM to AD in case of LDAPSync

Hi All,
In our scenario, we have LDAPSync configured for OIM AD Integration. OIM version is OIM 11gR2 PS1 (11.1.2.1.0.0)
It is working fine and On user creation in OIM ,RealTime user creation under specified container in AD is happening.It is SSL enabled,so password is also getting updated from OIM to AD.
But we have following conflicting scenario --
- As per our requirement we have to generate random password for User in OIM. For that we have PostProcess event handler implemented in OIM.
- We have tested LDAPSync by creating user manually through OIM console. While creating user manually, we have provided value for password attribute along with other attributes.
So, password attribute in AD will get updated for User along with all other attributes values mapped for AD from OIM.
- But, in our scenario random password is generated for User through OIM post process event handler and it will be updated again in user profile of user created manually in OIM. This password is sent to User through mail.
As this password event handler will get triggered after LDAPSnyc only, this password will not be update in AD for manually created user in OIM. So he can log into OIM with this new password but not to AD system.
He will be able to login to AD system with same User ID but with password which was set at time of manual User Creation in OIM and not with the password updated in OIM user profile by PostProcess event handler.
Is it possible to set password for user through PreProcess even handler implementation for Random Password generation. In this case also , the default OIM post process
password generator will override the PreProcess event handler.How to resolve this issue.
Also,when AD connector is in place in OIM environment we would be having change/update tasks for any attribute update to be send from OIM to AD.
How this update scenario will be implemented from OIM to AD in case of LDAPSync ?
Please provide any helpful pointer on this.
Thanks,
RPB

• How to update Purchase Request automatically when update qty in sales order

When we create a sales order, the PR will be automatically generated.
Now we have a requirement to change the order qty for the sales order. also the PR should be automatically changed.
With VA02, the process is perfect.
But by using BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE the SO is partly changed ( order qty is changed but the confirmed qty is not changed) and the PR is not changed.
So can you advise me how to update the PR by using the BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE, which indicator should be defined?
I've read the BAPI document but no such information.
Regards,

Hi Yang,
Workflow is the best approach for any issue related to business objects.
Since you want call FM BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE, it will change SO. It means everytime any SO is changed there will an event being triggered.
object type: BUS2032
event: Changed
simple solution:
1. Please create object type (SWO1) and its super type should be BUS2032.
2. Add your own method and attach your custom FM which actually updates the qty & PR)
3. Create Task (PFTC_INS)
in basic data:
- provide object type which you have created
- provide method which you have added
goto triggering events tab
- Choose Object Category as BOR object type
- provide object type (better give BUS2032)
- provide event as CHANGED
Please have look into very nice video blog which helps you to create your workflow.

• How to update the tables either in its entirety or not at all

We want update more than two tables at one time,for example we code following:
update A set ***
update B set ***
we first update A, but sometimes B can not be updated sucessful,
How to update A&B tables in its entirety? Or, if any one of these tables can not be updated sucessful,two talbes don't update at all.
Thank you very much?

hi,
You want to update or not update at all that means either Update or rollback.
So Put A COMMIT WORK statement after the update starement.
It will either fully update or Automatically Rollback the whole
Processing.

• How to update multiple elements in xml?

Hi!
I've a input xml containing Sales Order information.
The xml-file has a Header and multiple detail records
e.g.
<NS3:header>
+ <NS3:detail>
+ <NS3:detail>
+ <NS3:detail>
+ <NS3:detail>
+ <NS3:detail>
+ <NS3:detail>
+ <NS3:detail>
</NS3:header>
In each detail node, I want to control if requestedDate is a working day and change date if it's not correct
e.g.
<NS3:detail>
-<NS3:product>
-<NS3:item>
<NS3:itemProduct>222288
</NS3:itemProduct>
</NS3:item>
</NS3:product>
<NS3:quantityOrdered>2
</NS3:quantityOrdered>
-<NS3:processing>
<NS3:actionType>A
</NS3:actionType>
</NS3:processing>
<NS3:dateRequested>2012-03-03T13:17:48.439+01:00
</NS3:dateRequested>
</NS3:detail>
In this example is <NS3:dateRequested>2012-03-03T13:17:48.439+01:00</NS3:dateRequested> a Saturday and this element should be updated with the new date for Monday <NS3:dateRequested>2012-03-05T13:17:48.439+01:00</NS3:dateRequested>
The new date is fetched from a Web Service I invoke for each detail record.
I can read each node and get the element for each dateRequested in a while loop by using XPATH as following:
<scope name="Scope_1">
<sequence name="Sequence_2">
<assign name="Assign_3">
<copy>
<from expression="ora:countNodes('inputVariable','payload','/ns1:processSalesOrderElement/ns1:header/ns1:detail')"/>
<to variable="Count"/>
</copy>
<copy>
<from expression="1"/>
<to variable="varindex"/>
</copy>
</assign>
<while name="While_1"
condition="bpws:getVariableData('varindex')<bpws:getVariableData('Count')">
<sequence name="Sequence_1">
<assign name="Assign_6">
<copy>
<from expression="ora:getElement('inputVariable','payload','/ns1:processSalesOrderElement/ns1:header/ns1:detail',bpws:getVariableData('varindex'))"/>
<to variable="outputVariable" part="payload"
query="/ns1:processSalesOrderElement/ns1:header/ns1:detail"/>
</copy>
</assign>
<assign name="Assign_4">
<copy>
<from expression="ora:getElement('inputVariable','payload','/ns1:processSalesOrderElement/ns1:header/ns1:detail/ns1:dateRequested',bpws:getVariableData('varindex'))"/>
<to variable="outputVariable" part="payload"
query="/ns1:processSalesOrderElement/ns1:header/ns1:detail/ns1:dateRequested"/>
</copy>
</assign>
<assign name="Assign_1">
<copy>
<from expression="bpws:getVariableData('varindex') + 1"/>
<to variable="varindex"/>
</copy>
<copy>
<from variable="inputVariable" part="payload"
query="/ns1:processSalesOrderElement/ns1:header/ns1:businessUnit"/>
<to variable="Invoke_1_startSecureCustomerRequestDate_InputVariable"
part="parameters"
query="/ns5:startSecureCustomerRequestDateElement/ns5:businessUnit"/>
</copy>
<copy>
<from variable="outputVariable" part="payload"
query="/ns1:processSalesOrderElement/ns1:header/ns1:detail/ns1:dateRequested"/>
<to variable="Invoke_1_startSecureCustomerRequestDate_InputVariable"
part="parameters"
query="/ns5:startSecureCustomerRequestDateElement/ns5:jdDateRequestedJulian_DRQJ"/>
</copy>
</assign>
<invoke name="Invoke_1"
partnerLink="BT_SecureCustomerRequestDateManager"
portType="ns4:Oracle_E1_SBF_SEI_PkgBldFile_BT_SecureCustomerRequestDateManager"
operation="startSecureCustomerRequestDate"
inputVariable="Invoke_1_startSecureCustomerRequestDate_InputVariable"
outputVariable="Invoke_1_startSecureCustomerRequestDate_OutputVariable"/>
<scope name="Scope_2">
<sequence name="Sequence_3">
<assign name="Assign_5">
<copy>
<from variable="Invoke_1_startSecureCustomerRequestDate_OutputVariable"
part="result"
query="/ns5:startSecureCustomerRequestDateResponseElement/ns5:jdDateRequestedJulian_DRQJ"/>
<to variable="outputVariable" part="payload"
query="/ns1:processSalesOrderElement/ns1:header/ns1:dateRequested"/>
</copy>
</assign>
</sequence>
</scope>
</sequence>
</while>
My problem is how to update the date for each detail record back to my InputVariable.
There is no XPATH function like updateElement or changeElement?!?
I will use the information from InputVariable with the manipulated dateRequested later on to Invoke WS to create Sales Order in a target system.
Thanks,
Niklas

Hi Niklas,
have you considered also moving from assign activities to transformations?
e.g. (in a loop)
1. using an XSLT to prepare data for the 'BT_SecureCustomerRequestDateManager'
-- input document ... from 'inputVariable'
-- input parameter ... from 'varindex'
-- output ................ to 'Invoke_1_startSecureCustomerRequestDate_InputVariable'
2. invoking 'BT_SecureCustomerRequestDateManager'
3. using an XSLT to modify 'inputVariable'
-- input document ... from 'inputVariable'
-- input parameter ... from 'varindex'
-- input parameter ... output from 'BT_SecureCustomerRequestDateManager'
-- output ................ to 'inputVariable'
Then you will not need to create custom Java program (code). It is easy to do the logic/modification inside of an XSLT.
Also BPEL process code will be easier to read.
Regards,
Martin.
