How to use a excel file to create a service component?

Dear all,
I want to use a excel file to create a service to be my data source. I used the wizard to do that but i always got a message. "The data format is not valid, fields in each record must be delimited by tab charactors, and each record seperated by new line charactors". How should I reformat my excel file to fit the requirements? I have already chang the field`s format into 'text' type. Thx ^^

Below are the steps:
1. Go to Tools -> service component wizard
2. The popup opens : Step1 : Enter the name of your service component
3. Go to Excel spreadsheet Copy the data for which the service needs to be created.
4. Step 2 : Paste the copied Excel data in the popup
5. Step 3 : Define Input -> just click next
6. Step 4: Define Conditions -> just click finish.

How to use an event that is created in a component of different DC?

Hello Experts,
I have two DCs(development components) in WD java, and
1) Created an event (say <sendvalues>) which is having two parameter values in interface controller of one DC1
2) In another DC2, I need to retrieve the values stored in <sendvalues>,
For that I have created a method (say <getvalues_IC>)of type "eventhandler" in view controller.
Also I have mapped the view with Interfacecontroller of DC1.
Could you please suggest how to get the values in <sendvalues>, since I could not able to revoke the event in DC2.

How to open a excel file in WLS 8.1 server.

Dear Sir,
I have created a excel file in WLS 8.1 Application server.
Now I used method as redirectURL(req,resp,Population.xls) to open that file but it failed to open it.
If I give the full path as 'D://USER_OBJETS/APPLICATION/Population.xls'
but it tried to open from client PC not from the server.
so the problem, I managed to create file in server but unable to open it.
Kindly advise how to resolve this problem.

Are you asking in general how to read an Excel file using ActiveX, or are you asking specifically? If you're asking in general, please do a search, as there have been many examples posted on how to use ActiveX to read/write Excel files. There are also numerous links in the Excel thread.

Using an Excel file as a dynamic data source? Opinions needed...

I have posted this topic before, but as always; in order to get the relevant correct answer you have to ask the correct question.
I'm trying to create a number of Pricelists linked to an Excel/CSV file. I have a Excel file that contains Pricelist information which is Product specific.
I have had a number of suggestion that follow:
A direct link to the Excel file. PROs: Excel file can be uploaded on FTP and overwritten if (and when) amended. Linking this is easy peasy in Dreamweaver. Person browsing can download info straight away on request - no hassle. CONs: Simply, not everyone has Excel and those who don't can not access the information.
Import Excel file as tabular data. PROs: Fairly easy to do in Dreamweaver. Person browsing can see info straight away. CONs: Can be time consuming on larger Excel files. NOT amendable (so a number of price changes becomes a big job). Can't simply overwrite Excel file on FTP. Larger Excel files can take a lot of page space and thus require tonnes of scrolling).
Use the Excel file as a dynamic data source. --Not entirely sure how I would go about doing this (any suggestions/links/tutorials etc)-- PROs: ? CONs: Contributor added this suggestion is not a good idea as it performs poorly on the web.
Create a dynamic page using a database and import the Excel file to that....or maintain the price list in the database rather than an Excel file. --Again not entirely sure how I would go about doing this (any suggestions/links/tutorials etc)-- My understanding of this option is that it will require XML data and SPRY work. Is this correct? Can this be someone who is not an advanced user?
If once again, I'm off the mark and better suggestions can be thought - please do so.
As you can see I'm at a bit of a crossroads so an suggestions, comment, help, links, tutorials or applause would be greatly received.

Although not everyone has excel just about everyone can open csv files in some way, if not offer the option to download "open office" which is free for the pc, as for the mac they have a program installed by default to use csv files.
The import tabular data is not really an option for the reasons stated.
Use excel as data source - not a good idea, requires asp.net to work correctly otherwise it does run slow and is not recommended if you are expecting more than a very small number of users.
As for the dynamic with database, this can be done with xml and spry but if you have a large amount of data this is almost as bad as the option above. You are probably better creating a database and importing your excel spreadsheet into this, for tutorials on creating a php/mysql database and set-up of testing server see - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/application_development.html.
No matter which way you go with the last option it will require a fair amount of knowledge and experience to do correctly, efficiently and securely.

In the past I have used this code to set the FTP pass word in an FTP component task in SSIS.
Does anyone know how to use a Key file in an SSL connection to download a file from an FTP site? If not can you tell me where I can get the C# code examples to learn how to create a script task or if there is another way in SSIS to download large files

How to use a WSDL file to call webservice? Help!

Hi Experts,
     I have exposed a SAP function module as webservice using the
     Utilities -> More Utilities -> Create Web Service -> From Function module
     What does this step actually does? Does it create some kind of web application like BSP for the function module in the background?
     After creating the web service I have released the service definition for the SOAP runtime using the transaction WSCONFIG.
    Finally I have generated the WDSL file ofr the webservice using WSADMIN transaction.
    After this how will my third party application like Java will use the WSDL? Will I need any connector software to be installed in Java side.
    How exactly will java call my webservice using WSDL?
    What actually happens or what is the message flow when java application calls by webservice?
    Kindly help.

Hi, Your solution should be correct and it's a quite common approach for Login authentication.Informatica's webservice provider also need 2 steps for calling its webservice1. Getting the session ID using username and password 2. Use the session ID to call any active operation 3. Use the session ID to log out if webservice do not have any time out settings for each session. SOAP standard is listed in the WSDL of saleforce webservice. It affects if you cannot find/call any operation in PowerCenter level. My lastest information is for PWC 9.1 version only, I don't know if they have enhanced this function in 9.5. Streamlining this would require a bit of custom work I imagine. However if you don't mind giving the users some extra clicks, there are probably a few ways to get the job done.
You could upload the excel file to SharePoint, make sure it's read-only and link to it within the InfoPath form. Then the process would be that users open the InfoPath form, fill it out, download the excel doc to their desktops and fill it out, and then
attach it to the IP form.
Or you could set up a separate, sister library where the New Item defaults to your Excel template. Then from within the InfoPath form you could have a hyperlink that creates the new item, saving it to the library. The caveat here is finding a way to link
to the two items together with a unique identifier. The benefit though is being able to browse and interact with Excel docs independent of the forms they are attached to, if necessary.

The question is not easy to respond. The easy way is to use the excel program itself! You can read the contents of an excel file using jdbc.
