How to write protocol Driver to establish PPP communication
Hello ,
I want to know if any1 can help me with this issue of writing Protocol Drivers to establish a PPP communication .
Using Labview 8 version. If any of you ll know anything regarding PPP communication do send me link or attachment
Waiting in anticipation.
Regards.
yogan
The PPP standard is defined in (IETF) RFC 1661. An overview of the PPP protocol is available on wikipedia.
PPP is a data link layer protocol. Writing a PPP implimentation in LabVIEW is going to be a significant effort. LabVIEW generally passes this level of communications to the OS.

Write PPP protocol driver to establish PPP communication
Dear Sir,
As there is no PPP specific functions in LabVIEW ......
I want to know more about how to write PPP protocol drivers, in register level programming, for labview version 8.
As i want to establish PPP communication over RS-232 to send & recieve data from GUI created in LabVIEW to a third party device ...
how to do register level programing in Labview ? ...
& to do register level programing do I need to have any additional interfacing software installed?
If you have any reference or any sample code relating to my query , do mail me the link..
Waiting in anticipation.
Regards .
YoganYogan,
Welcome to the discussion forums. Since there are no PPP specific functions inside of LabVIEW, have you considered using NI-VISA instead? VISA has VIs that have the ability to control at the registry level. Here are some additional resources that further expound upon VISA and its capabilities.

How to write a driver for custom hardware on a digital port
Hi,
I am a complete newbie to LabView and so I hope that someone can hint me to the information I need.
At the moment, I am completely lost.
I have the CVS-1454 which has a digital I/O port.
Now I want to plug a custom made converter on this port to convert the digital port into 4 RS232 ports.
The hardware is not the problem, but how do I write a driver for my box?
Is there some kind of tutorial on writing drivers available?
All I found in the official documentation was that you can write your own drivers, but the link to the page which should give more information was invalid :-(
Thank you for reading and have a nice day,
FReAKFrankly, what you're attempting to do may be beyond the capability of both LabVIEW and the digital I/O. At the very least, it's going to take quite a bit of work. On the transmit side, you're going to have break down characters into binary and then transmit them at a pretty precise rate. I'm not familiar with the CVS-1454 but a lot of digital I/O on NI devices is not hardware timed. Using software timing is going to be risky. You have the same issue on the receive end - just in reverse. I think that if I was forced to convert some digital I/O to serial, I'd try to use commerical parallel to serial converters. The digital I/O is similar to a parallel port and the converters handle all of the conversion, timing, and handshaking for you.

How to write ACPI device driver for Solaris 8 (SPARC Edition)
Hi, All,
I wonder how to write ACPI driver to access battery life,
can anyone help ? thanks!!I am having the similar problem identified in this thread.
OS: Sun Solaris 10 01/06
Hardware: Sun Blade 2500
PCI Memory card.
Problem: When driver moves more then 40 bytes via PIO from a PCI device memory card, the long words are swapped starting at 40 byte transfer size and greater.
device memory description:
static ddi_device_acc_attr_t sdram_access_attr =
DDI_DEVICE_ATTR_V0, /* Boilerplate value */
DDI_STRUCTURE_LE_ACC,
DDI_STRICTORDER_ACC /* Don't reorder accesses */
The user application does a read call, which goes to xxread. xxread calls physio( xxstrategy, bp, dev, B_READ, xxminphys, uio );
In xxstrategy the transfer is done using
ddi_mem_rep_get8(ucb->ucb_sdram_accHndl,
(uint8_t*) kaddr,
(uint8_t*) raddr,
(size_t) bp->b_resid),
(uint_t) DDI_DEV_AUTOINCR );
PCI Device memory is loaded with incrementing address (8bit), 0,1,2... This is confirmed using a PCI Bus Analyzer.
A read of 36 bytes or less returns:
03 02 01 00 07 06 05 04 ...
A read of 40 bytes returns:
07 06 05 04 03 02 01 00 ...
If I peek 1 byte at a time using ddi_get8(ucb->ucb_sdram_accHndl, ...) I get
00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07
Why are the long words swapped starting at 40 byte transfer size and greater? -

I have a Dynisco UPR700 instrument that has a modbus communication protocol, I use the lookout protocol driver modbus to communicate with it, but the lookout protocol driver gave me the information about "modbus exception response 2 (illegal data address)", how can I solve this problem? where can I set the right data address? Thanks!
Most likely you are trying to access a datamember address that is either not supported or non-existant on the UPR700.
Double check the address that you are writing/reading and make sure that it is supported.

How to write Wireless PC Card Driver?
Hi, All,
Can anyone help me to find out how to write wireless pc card device driver?
Thanks !!There are [at least] two examples of PCMCIA dirvers in the DDK supplimentary suite. There is also an example of simple DLPI driver.
All you have to do is to combine those examples to get the PCMCIA DLPI driver and fine tune it to match your particular hardware. Any bells ring?
You will definitely need your card programming manual and/or software interface description for the last phase.
If you do not have one, you might get some open source (say, Linux or FreeBSD) driver for your card and do some code analysis to reveal the information you'll need.
Hope this helps...

Does anyone know how to write on a NTFS drive?
Re: question???
How to write to a NTFS drive??
Maybe native support???I got this working just yesterday. Read this link for instructions:
http://www.offthehill.org/articles/2010/12/31/macfuse-for-64-bit-snow-leopard/
Install tuxera's MacFUSE binary from here: http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg
Once you plug in your USB drive or an NTFS drive, the system will mount it read-only by default. You will need to "umount" it (as root, of course) and re-mount it with read-write permissions and a "noowners" option (I assume you're familiar with Unix commands and their options). I tried this today and it works, I can read/write to the NTFS drive on 64-bit snow leopard. -

iphone 4 cdma ppp user hdr password how to write im using cdma work shop
and how to enble dignostic portMy Yahoo email account worked just fine on my iPhone 4S for the last 2 months. Then this morning I started receiving the apple.imap.mail,yahoo error. I tried all of the steps above in solving the yahoo email issue including numerous hard re-sets and deletions of my yahoo account settings without any success. So I gave up trying to use the default Yahoo setup option. I added my Yahoo account back as an "other" type email account and then had the option to choose to set it up as a "POP" account instead of an IMAP type. I then just used the server settings recommended from Yahoo Help for a Yahoo Plus Email POP (or just google yahoo plus email pop settings). This works and I am back in business.
I'm not sure if this will work for yahoo mail classic accounts.
Frustrating that this issue seems to have been going on for quite awhile and Apple still as not made any acknowledgement of this issue or proposed a fix for those of us that can not resolve the issue with a reset. -
hi
can any1 over here help me out in how to establish connection between 2 RF modem's for data transfer , between client & server USing LABVIEW?
I want to establish a connection between 2 PC's through RF modem on client & server side & to set up PPP communication for data transfer.
(I have tried data transfer through RS-232 using TCP/IP whn the 2 PC's are connected over ethernet... which is working.
I also tried connecting loopback cable between 2 PC's COM port & geting data transfer using VIsa configure serial port & other visa functions ... which is working)
can u guide me how to establish connection between 2 RF modem's using LABview?
& how does the data transfer take place between 2 RF modems through RS-232?
is it using TCP/IP?
If you got any links to go abt this issue do send me related links .. or any examples .....
I am currently using Labview version 8.
Waiting in anticipation.. reply ASAP..
thanking you
Regards
Yogan..Howdy yogan,
Maybe you could clarify a few things for me, and we'll see how we can help ya. TCP/IP protocol occurs through an ethernet connection; RS-232 communication occurs through an RS-232 serial connection, typically through a cable that has a DB9 connector on both ends. Do you mean that the RF modems in question have the option to communicate via RS-232 and/or via TCP/IP ethernet? Specific information like the manufacturer of your RF modems, the model number of your RF modems, and how you connect the modems to the PC would enable us to give you more efficient support.
You can check our Instrument Driver Network (IDNet) to see if a plug-and-play/IVI driver already exists for your RF modem. (You'll need to know its manufacturer and model number.) In the case that you do find an IDNet driver for your modem, you can use this KnowledgeBase article for instructions on how to use the driver.
Another excellent resource to consider is the NI Example Finder. You can access this within LabVIEW by navigating to Help»Find Examples and then searching for serial or TCP/IP examples.

Strange issue - unable to establish PPP with Cisco 887 VAG router on one particular ADSL line
I have a strange problem that I’m struggling to get to the bottom of with my ISP and wondered if anyone could help.
We have a site with an older Cisco 877 ADSL router which was working happily until a few weeks ago when the connection dropped suddenly (out-of-hours at 2am if that’s of any significance – made me think most likely something carrier/ISP related?) When connectivity was lost, the router could sync with the BT exchange (we are in the UK) but could not establish PPP.
We logged fault with our ISP – after some to’ing and fro’ing, they passed it onto BT and their engineers visited site, they fixed “a line fault” (we don’t get much detail on what was actually fixed) but we still could not establish connectivity – same thing, solid CD light but no PPP.
So, we replaced the router with another 877 – same again, solid CD but no PPP. We replaced all the cables and microfilter etc but no difference.
We tried a different Cisco router (a newer Cisco 887VAG) which, as I understand, uses a different modem chipset but no matter – PPP could still not be established. We tested this router on another ADSL line with the same ISP and it worked without issue, using the same ADSL account details, it was able to establish connectivity. So we figured this must still be a BT/ISP issue.
Since then we’ve had BT out again twice but they say there is no fault. The ISP say there is no issue with them. But we still cannot establish ADSL connectivity on this line, despite having tried 3 different ADSL routers and despite the fact the routers work with the same account details on another ADSL line.
The 887VAG router we have currently connected has 3G backup so that is keeping us going in the meantime and also means I can login to the router remotely to check on the ADSL status.
But I’m struggling to pinpoint where the problem may lie. Strangely, if I turn on PPP negotiation and authentication debug then I’m not actually seeing any output from it at all?

Does anyone have any ideas on where the problem may be and what more I can do to troubleshoot and provide the relevant evidence to our ISP (assuming it is an ISP/BT issue though the fact the same router works ok with the exact same details etc would seem to indicate it must be their issue!)Hi Jody,
thanks for the suggestions. Here's what I see from the ppp debugs (but I'm not sure how to interpret?)

Any further thoughts? -
How to write data on to a location other than desktop or application server
Hi all,
I already posted this question. But i didn't get exact answer
Can anyone explain that how to write data on to a share drive located on other Nonsap server. Please I dont want to FTP the file.I dont want that solution.I need to write directly on to that Nonsap share drive..
Thanks,
BalajiI guess the only way is sending the file using a XI connection to the non sap system server, generate RFC adapters, inbound, outbound interfaces, using xml or soap or IDOC to move the file to that system.

You need to boot the computer from another source, e.g. a CD or an external drive. Then run Disk Utility, select the drive you want cleaned up, and run Erase. Note the security options: "write zeroes" will erase the drive completely.

Could any please help why is this happening.
ThanksHi,
You have customers who are running distributed transactions using a gateway which need to be rolled back. However, the gateway has not been correctly configured for distributed transactions. To roll back a transaction on the SQL*Server database a connection is made as the user defined in the parameter HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT in the gateway init<sid>.ora file but this user has not been created in the SQL*Server database with the password defined in HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD. This user also needs to own the transaction log table.
I assume you are using the Database Gateway for SQL*Server (DG4MSQL) as the Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC) doesn't support distributed transaction.
If you have access to My Oracle Support have a look at this note -
How to Setup DG4MSQL to Use Distributed Transactions (Doc ID 227011.1)
Otherwise, check the Gateway documentation.

How to write output from Keithley 220 to Excel using Labview
Hello, I have seen other posts that ask this question and was wondering if anyone has found the solution? I have downloaded the driver and seem to be able to communicate with the instrument. However, I am not very sure how to modify the driver to set the amperage and record the output to Excel.
Hi rachel-d,
It looks like that instrument driver is only one VI, and is not a certified driver. There seems to be a control for "source (A)" which may be what you're looking for as far as setting the amperage. Honestly, you may have better luck starting with a simple GPIB communication program and writing your own VI. You may need to check your device's manual for information on specific commands to set current values, etc. As for excel, you could use the Write to Measurement File Express VI and write your data to a text-based measurement file (.lvm) that is tab deliminated. You can then open this file with Excel. There are also examples you could look at in the NI Example Finder (Help > Find Examples).
Hope this helps!
