Hp Envy m6-1105dx. Problems with my charger.

Product Name: Hp Envy m6-1105dx
Operating System installed: Windows 8
I'm going to keep this simple.
I bought this computer on February 20th, 2013, so up to this date It's been over a month. I've never bought a laptop before, and in just a little over a month...started to have these kind of complications.
Since this is the hardware section, lets start with that.
I plug in my charger, it does not work. I try a second time, and we have the same result. I have to continuously plug the charger in, and out in order to receive a charge.. I call this the "Hopefully it works” method. Problem number two, is that everytime my computer goes to sleep, the charger shows that it doesn’t register anymore....and this sets us back to problem one.
This is a new laptop, so I believe problems with the battery really shouldn't be showing me these kinds of complications. I’m very frustrated at the fact that my laptop’s battery or charger will not work.
For any other information that might help....
Yes the battery is in, Yes my charger is plugged into the wall, and yes I've reset my computer to check if this problem would still Reoccur. The only thing I didn’t do is replace my battery, or charging cable. The reason being is that i just bought this computer.
Thank you very much for reading this topic, sorry for the “Ranting” kind of approach, but I hope you can see my frustration.
Any advice, or basically a solution to my problem will be very much so appreciated.

Unfortunately it appears you got a lemon. It happens. If you have a return right at the point of sale, exercise it. Otherwise call HP and work your way through the phone tree to see about returning it.  The only other possibilty is that a BIOS update was just released on 3-15
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-116472-1&cc=us&dlc=&lc=en&o...
Of course you are going to have to catch it when it is working and the BIOS update entails a bit of risk if the computer crashes during the update. I would call Customer Service and ask them if they want you to try the BIOS update. Before they authorize a return they are going to make you go in and reset the BIOS to defaults and muck around in there a bit anyway.

  • Has anyone had any problems with their charger blowing out?

Has anyone had any problems with their charger blowing out? mine blew, there's now a charred pin on the charger and in the socket of the macbook. The plastic around the charge socket is also cracked & distorted from the blow-out. It wasn't a power surge as no other electrical items were affected. It wasn't liquid or dust, as I'm the only person who uses it & I'm very careful. I'm concerned that the consequences could have been terrible. I wasn't present when it happened though, I can just see the evidence after the event.
I have a mid 2010 13" Macbook running the latest software & use the original magsafe charger that came with it.
Will I have to fork out for a costly repair or is there a safety issue that Apple will sort out for me?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • Problems with overage charges and making account changes on line

I have quite a bit of history involving my attempts to resolve the problem of catching my account before it goes over the minutes allowed and making the changes on line (to cut down on call volume) to change my account to raise the minutes allowed for that billing cycle.  I was given one reason why it didn't work the first time (I didn't print out my confimation proving I made the changes - bit the bullet and paid those charges) and so the second time wanting to avoid the problem from the first time I made sure I printed out my confirmation.  The confirmation had an effective date of change of 07/19/2012 the day I was informed I was nearing my allowed minutes.  There were only 4 or 5 maximum days left in that billing cycle so I wanted to nip the problem in the bud and make the changes to my account to be made "that" day.  My confirmation said the changes were effective 07/19/2012.  In plently of time before that billing cycle ended.  Again I was told I did something wrong.  This time I'm holding my confirmation in my hand even as the person is telling me again I did it wrong.  The purpose Verizon wants it's customers to use the available on-line option is to cut down on their call volume.  I didn't go to school to get the knowledge apparantly needed to perform these particular tasks in a manner that is acceptable to Verizon.  Has anyone else had problems with trying to fix their problems themselves using Verizons "helpfull" on-line choice?

I have an explanation for you by what was meant by "you did it wrong."
When you make a change effective the date you are requesting it and not at the start or end of your billing cycle, your minute usage for that month is pro-rated.
For example, you say you made a change, because you were nearing your allowance limit, on 7/19/2012 and wanted it effective that day with 5 days left in the billing cycle. Lets assume that your allowance is 700 minutes/month and you were at 675 minutes for that month(still under your monthly allowance). If you make a change effective with 5 days left in your billing cycle to the 1400 minute/month allowance, your allowance for the 1st 25 days of your cycle will have been pro-rated to (25/30) * 700 = 583 minutes. This would mean you would have already had an overage of 92 minutes for the 1st 25 days of the month. Additionally, you would have a pro-rated allowance to use the last 5 days of (5/30) * 1400 = 233 minutes. This is how the pro-rating works when you make a change effective during the middle of your billing cycle.
What you need to do next time to avoid these overage charges is to make the change effective at the beginning of your current billing cycle. So if you had made the change on 7/19/2012, but your billing cycle ended on 7/24/2012(5 days later), you should have made the change effective at the beginning of your current billing cycle, or 6/24/2012. This is called backdating the change. In this instance, you would have received a credit on you account for the cost of the 700 minute plan and been charged the full amount for the 1400 minute plan on your next bill, which I believe is a net additional charge of $10 and you would have had the use of 1400 minutes for throughout the entire month. In this example, you would not have had any overage with your 675 minutes during the 1st 25 days of your cycle and would have been able to use 725 minutes over the last 5 days of your billing cycle. This is much better than the overage charge you would receive with 92 overage minutes @ $0.45/minute = $41.40.
    I hope this explains it.

  • HP Envy 15 Graphics Problem with Windows 8.1 (Intel and NVidia Graphics). Help!

I bought an HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j013ea about 6 months ago and I have had a major problem with the graphics that I cannot seem to solve. I think it started when I updated to Windows 8.1, even though I am not 100% certain.
I have noticed the following three problems, and I think they are related:
Some windows (such as Chrome, Skype, or even Device Manager or other windows) are very blurry compared to others.
The firefox menu window has some deformed black arrows instead of the normal ones.
When playing a game (specifically, Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2), after a while I get an error that the computer has ran out of memory. However, according to task manager, only about 50% is in use, not to mention that I have 8 GB of RAM + 2 GB graphics memory. At the same time, the computer gets rather loud (like a fan working overtime) and hot.
The laptop has both Intel and NVidia graphics, and both are enabled in Device Manager. To be honest, I have no idea which is used when, or how to check that (let me know if there is a way)
I have tried the following without success:
Uninstalling the Intel graphics driver from device manager and installing a version I downloaded from the HP website for my laptop and OS. After that, Windows would NOT BOOT, and I had to do a system restore.
Uninstalling the Intel graphics from Programs and Features, and installing 2 different versions from the Intel website. Nothing changed.
Updating Nvidia driver through GeForce Experience. Nothing changed.
Updating Intel drivers from Windows Update. Nothing changed.
Quite frankly I am not sure what the problem could be, since the graphics versions are supposed to be compatible with WIndows 8.1. I also don't get why some windows are blurry and others are not. I am thinking the computer uses only the Intel graphics and not the Nvidia (at least in the blurry windows), but even if that was the case (and it shouldn't be), I don't think I should be having this problem.
At this point, I really need help. My graphics details are:
Intel HD Graphics 4600: Driver version: 10.18.10.3412
NVidia GeForce GT 740M: Driver version: 335.23
    NVidia GeForce Experience version: 1.8.2
I am attaching screenshots that show driver details and the problems.
    Thank you.
    Blurry Chrome:
    Firefox menu problem:
Device Manager and driver windows are also blurry, both graphics are shown

I had a similar problem with a Dell laptop.  I found the problem was the laptop wanted to switch between the Intel and NYIDIA video cards.  It would switch to the Intel when high graphics was not required then to the NIVIDIA when high graphics was required.  The laptop does this to save power when high graphics is not required but it caused problems with some applications, specifically high graphics games.
For me the solution was to disable the Intel graphics processor.  You can do this by right clicking on your Wallpaper, select the NIVIDIA Control Panel, then select Set Physx Configuration.  You will see a dropdown box labeled Select Physx Processor.  It is set to Auto by default.  This allows the switching I described. Select this dropdown box and select your NIVIDIA processor.  This will prevent the laptop from switching and force it to use your NVIDIA processor exclusively.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems with car charger

I dont think i have read anything like this on the forums yet. Im on my second torch and although i like it a lot being (personal opinion) best blackberry yet (functionwide) , I feel it has some issues that are making me think a lot. I had a problem with the first one, i was charging it in my car (original BB charger) and some times i would see the lighting icon with the phone charging and sometimes not. I wanted to know if it was charging or not, so i tested for minutes looking at the battery % and nothing. Then the phone started to overheat and was not charging anymore, i took it to best buy mobile where i purchased it and they gave me different car chargers to test it. I did test it but i told them that my charger was orgiunal blackberry accesory and that i charge a 9700 and a 8520 from my wife. Nothing happened, they gave me a new phone. With the new one i noticed the b atter life was superb, was way better. but after 4-5 days (yesterday) the battery went dead at 5pm with slight use on the day, i tried charging the cellphone while eating, so i left it charging in the car and when i returned the phone was hot and not charging. Im really confused
    Things i know>
    1. its not the car charger, its charging other BB fine and its original accesory
    2. Its not the lighter in my car cause i also charge other phones
    please advice

I too am on my second torch in 8 days. I am also having a problem with the car charger. The lightning bolt goes off while charging, especially when I am using AT&T Navigator. The second phone is not as bad as the first one was, but I don't know how well it will do in the weeks to come.
I had this same problem with my original AT&T Blackberry, the 8900. In that case, a battery swap solved the problem. With the Torch, I really don't know what is going on, but this is a serious problem because I use the AT&T Navigator all the time in my business and I have to keep my battery charged.
I hope Blackberry recognizes that there IS a problem and fixes it.

  • Problem with igo charger on new 80 GB Classic

Just recently purchased a new 80 GB classic (upgraded from an old 20 GB clickwheel model). I had been successfully using an igo charger with tip #61 on the old 20 GB, but with the new 80 GB when I plug the igo charger w/Tip 61 into it, it briefly 'turns on' with the display, but does not indicate it is charging. I called igo and they said I needed a REV 4 #61 tip, sent that to me but it still has the same problem.. Apple has said they did change the charging circuit to the new 80 GB. My apple charger works fine, and my old desktop speaker unit also continues to charge. Only the igo does not work (I have multiple wall chargers/car chargers from igo and none of these will work with the new 80 GB classic). I travel a lot and love just bringing one small charger and multiple tips to charge the ipod/cell phone & PDA.
Anybody having the same issue and gotten around it?

What you're seeing is a problem with the Classics -- the scrolling is much less responsive than prior generations of iPods. Because of the lower sensitivity, you have a hard time scrolling fast enough to see the letters come up. They can if you really try at it, but it's not so easy. This is the only disappointment I have with my Classic.
ps Your 60GB is actually a 5th gen, not Classic.

  • HP G61 Problem with Battery charging.

Dear sirs, I ve read so many posts but I couldnt find a solution so I decide to post one on my own.
I got an HP G61 and is working properly as far as it is working . The problem I have is with the battery.
If I shout down the laptop and leave it with the charger on , when I boot the laptop the battery is full 100%
when is booted the light of power is on , the HDD light is normal and some times the charging light is on , some times is off.
I notice that lots of ppl have similar problems so what I did is that
With a multimeter I saw that power output of this power brick is fine! besides that I got three HP laptops with same power supply so I try this brick to other laptop and seems is working fine with the other laptop. I try other's laptop PSU to this one and had same problems.
So i focus that the problem is at Battery. I download the Battery checker from HP and scan my Bat (was100% charged) and the result was OK!!!
so the mysterious in this case is that the laptop is working properly , I try full preformance , no problem at all, just the battery runs out faster (make sence)
So as the laptop is working the power cord is connected and there is no light on the side of the connector but there is the light ot the power on at the laptop.  As I m working with the laptop then the charging light goes on and the battery seems connected with the AC and charcging.  some times says plugged in but no charging!!! when I have the indicator of plugged and charging that might goes some seconds and then disapears and goes back to discharging mode...
If I shout down the laptop and leave it connect it with the power brick then the charging led might be off but after a while goes on and remains on for long so seems to charging normal....
I know that this seems strange and crazy but this is what happens...
As far as this laptop is working properly and I m ok with its performance (as far as stays powered on) I find no reason to recycle it!
the only annoying is that sometimes might not charge at all while is powered on and of course after a while goes off...
the battery Is an original HP battery , and if it is 100% charged , last up to 1hour and something...
hope I gave you a full image of what is going on with this machine.
I tried also some solutions that I found on internet regarding power settings ACPI controllers etc that seems to solve problem with the microsoft power management . this had a small solution for a couple of days and then goes back to old status.( I dont know if windows restores some stages on their settings)
If there is a hardware problem at the end of the day on mobo I'd like to know it there is a chip or controller or any other component on it I can replace . (I m electronic engnr so I can replace it) I got some dead HP G61 models with broken screens etc or broken mobos
    thank you in advance

  • Problem with portable charger

I bought a portable charger for my iPod b/c I'll be away from my home computer for about 2 weeks at a time. I purchased it about a month and a half ago. And it worked fine. But now when I connect my iPod to the charger it diminishes the battery life but says its fully charged. Does anyone know what is wrong?
    5G

    Thank you. : )
It's my iPods battery. And Ive put it on the charger about half charged and when I look at it 5 minutes later the charger says my battery is fully charged but when I take it off its dead. No, I'm not able to use it unless my iPod has been hooked up to my computer.
My iPods also been acting weird with its battery life in general, not just with that charger. But the charger really messes it up. I've only had it since X-mas and it worked fine but here lately, it seems as if my battery will deplete rapidly. I

  • Problem with my charger AC-4 = AC-4E

hello everybody, i have this problem:
I lost my original charger AC-4 for my Nokia N73 and i have replaced with a new but AC-4E .
Can this charger will work correct with my phone and does't have any problems?
    best regards

I think the last "E" is simply what plug it is on the adaptor i.e. wallsocket plug. "E" should then be Europe in this case.

  • Problem with Fully charged 8gig

Alright, so my problem is: if I give my Zen a full charge, It won't work. The screen just goes completely black and I cannot even turn off the device.
However, If I don't have it charge all the way (say 3/4 full), it works perfectly fine. I can upload pictures, videos, music etc. and view/listen to it all with no problem.
What do you think the problem is? My speculation is a battery issue?
Oh, and on a side note, this wasn't an issue untill I accidently let it go through the washer awhile ago.
    Thanks for any help! ?

Sorry. but you have a faulty / defecti've Zen better contact Creative

  • Anyone else have a problem with the charging plug catching on the aluminum backplate?

Relatively new Ipad - after charging the unit, disconnected the charging plug and it caught on the backplate.  Anyone else have this problem?

This problem arose today.  When I removed the plug, the plug pulled on the Ipad2, specifically the thin aluminum strip between the plug's receptical and the Ipad2's front.  No functional damage...the unit still works and charges, but now that thin aluminum strip is displaced.  The plug itself appears to be the culprit.  Looking at the plug that connects to the Ipad2 (the side with the graphic), there are 2 areas which I presume provides tension when the plug is inserted into the unit.  One of those areas is displaced, and became caught with the thin aluminum strip during the plug's removal.

    Hi,
Following an update to Lightroom on my Mac Pro work station last Friday: when I apply my adjustment brush to an area in an image, a faint box encompassing a much larger area than the size of my brush appears (extends well beyond the area I've identified with my brush and is clearly a large square shape).
Same problem (rectangular areas) + others under Windows. The adjustment brush and the clone / heal tool have been totally broken in LR 3.2. You're not alone. See this thread. I have filed a bug report. No answer until now.

  • Problems with magnetic charger not connecting

I bought my MacBook Pro back in August, and haven't had any problems until now.
When I plug in my charger, the little green light will come on, switch to orange, and after about two minutes or so, turn off. It turns off when I move, and I have to unplug it from the computer and try a couple times (both facing forwards and backwards) to get it to connect again, and then keep repeating the process. I have AppleCare, does anyone know if this would be covered under my warranty?

I am having a very similar problem. I also purchased my MacBook Pro in June. Like you, my charger will not work for more than a few minutes or at all when plugged into the outlets at work or in my home. I have taken my charger in an AppleCare provider twice now and both times it worked properly there so they could not give me a replacement. I was wondering if you have taken yours in and was able to have it replaced or if you have had any luck identifying the problem. I'm very frustrated and I don't really want to spend $80 for a new charger when my computer is still under warranty.
