HP Officejet 6000 will not connect to new wireless modem.

I have Windows 8.1.  My HP Officejet 6000 E609n wireless printer worked well, until the modem died and a new one was installed (new address).  I need to know how to make it recognize the new network address.  (Note: I tried to install the original setup software, but the CD would not run under Windows 8).
This question was solved.

  • Officejet J6450 will NOT connect to laptop wirelessly - PLEASE HELP...

    Good afternoon,
I just spent almost two hours on the phone with a woman from the HP Tech Support team that I could barely understand (not exaggerating - would be wonderful to bring back customer service to the US - god knows we need some more jobs here!!).  She had me do a number of things, none of which solved my problem - needless to say, it was a very frustrating two hours and now I am very frustrated!
My issue is that my laptop will not recognize the wireless Officejet J6450.  I have Comcast broadband cable internet, a Linksys wireless router, an HP desktop, and a Dell laptop (laptop is from employer - I work from home).  I loaded all of the software on my desktop first (connected via USB) and everything worked perfectly.  I used the Network Setup Wizard on the printer and connected to my Linksys wireless router with no issue whatsoever (full signal strength).  I printed a wireless netwok report - no problems were found - all diagnostic tests were a success.  The ethernet adapter wireless network connection IP address on my laptop is 192.168.1.102 and the IP address of the printer is 192.168.1.103.  So then I proceeded to load the software to my laptop for wireless connection - thinking all along how easy getting everything set up has been.  I then loaded the software to the laptop and I got to the part where it asks what type of connection I want to set up.  I chose wireless and it asked me to temporarily plug the laptop to the printer via USB cable.  I did so and it began searching for my wireless network.  I selected my wireless network and it began searching for my printer.  This is were I hit the brick wall - it could not find my printer.  I tried again - chose my network, tried to find the printer - no such luck.
I then did a Google search and checked these boards regarding alternative solutions.  I tried installing through Windows printers (BTW - laptop is running XP SP2).  Selected Local Printer, unchecked the automatically select box, chose standard TCP/IP, etc. - that didn't work either.
I consider myself fairly PC savvy and I am perplexed by this - just doesn't make any sense why the laptop won't detect the wireless printer.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance regarding my connectivity issue as I do NOT want to call HP Tech Support back.
One other thing, the Tech Support lady told me to reset the printer by turning it off and then having me press the pound button and the number 6 before turning it back on.  Not sure why she had me do this, but it reset the ink cartridges and alignment and now the printer no longer reports how much ink is left.  Any way to fix that?
Lastly, out of curiosity, why does HP recommend not leaving the wireless enabled on the printer when not using it?  Doesn't make any sense to have to turn off wireless everytime after printing and then turn it back on when needing to print again.
Sorry for this long post - hopefully this is enough information for you to help me out.
    Thanks in advance!
    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy,
First, I have no idea why we are recommending turning off the printer's radio when you are not using it.  The only thing I can image is that if you leave the radio on and in its default configuration (SSID = hpsetup, no security, Ad-Hoc), then you are susceptible to neighbors or war-drivers using your printer.
Next, you have an interesting problem.  You've done everything I would have tried (check connectivity by browsing the printer's internal web page, turn off the firewall, try to manually add the printer).
I know you've disabled the firewall.  I might recommend uninstalling the firewall temporarily, then installing the SW again to see if that works.  Also, you might check to see that you don't have another firewall accidentally enabled (maybe the Windows firewall?).
Finally -- is there anything unusual about your wireless-router configuration?  Have you set any port-forwarding or other advanced settings?  BTW -- what model wireless-router are you running?
And of course there's a rather painful step to try that usually works:  reinstall the OS on your laptop and then install the printer SW (I'm somewhat embarrassed to suggest this but it does seem to work).

  • Cb867A HP Officejet 4500 will not connect to network

I have tried over and over to connect my cb867A HP Officejet 4500 wireless printer, and it will not work.  I have changed cables, triple checked everything, uninstalled and re-installed software, and I cannot get this printer to work as a wireless printer. I have a Windows 7 64 bit Compaq laptop.  Any ideas on why this is not working? I am certain I am following the directions HP is giving. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello-
If you have a Officejet 4500 G510g , the printer is not wireless. You can use an ehternet cable and do a network install. That way any device that is wireless can use it as long as your on the same network.
The OJ 4500 G510n is wireless.

  • Wifi will not connect with new ios 7 update

I just downloaded the new ios7 on my ipad mini. I cannot connect to wifi now. It will not find a network and will not work when I type it in. I have tried shuting it down.

I have tried everything as well.  I hard reset but still nothing.  When I try to erase and reinstall it won't let me because it says no internet connection.  If I knew there would be this many problems I would not have bothered with the update.  Hopefully someone has some insight and help.

Tried everything and just waiting   30 minutes on chat and then got bumped off the moment the tech connect... after it said 1 minute or less... I waited another 15 minutes.... now trying to connect via chat again and now have another 28 mintues to wait... but now how can I trust the time estimates??? very frustrating just to connect a simple printer to a wireless connection... this is easy on laser printers...what is the problem with these deskjets... I told the owner to just return it and get a brother laser

I'm sorry the support experience has been frustrating so far.   Hopefully, we can help here.
Can you provide a little more information?
What router are you connecting to?
What are the steps you are taking to connect?  Are you using the HP software setup?  Or WiFi Protected Setup?
Depending on your router, you may be able to use WPS push button setup, which is very easy:
To connect the printer using the Push Button Method
    1. On the printer, press and hold the (Wireless) button for 3 seconds. The wireless light
    starts blinking.
    2. On the wireless router or wireless access point, press and hold the WPS button for 3
    seconds.
Wait for about 2 minutes. If the printer connects successfully, the wireless light stops
    blinking but remains lit.
I'll wait to hear more information.

  • MacBook Pro will not connect to Cisco Wireless Network

I have just bought a brand new MacBook Pro, running Leopard (OSX 10.5.1) and I just cannot get it to connect to the Wireless Network at my workplace.
The MBP connects to wireless network and authenticates just fine, but will not obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
The wireless network consists of 16 Cisco Aironet 1200 Access Points controlled by a Cisco Wireless Network Controller. It does not broadcast its SSID and is WEP 128-bit hex protected.
Changing the network from WEP to WPA is out of the question for me as this is under the control of my customers IT Department and they do not have any problems with their PCs connecting to the network. It appears to be an Apple issue.
For reference, my old Vaio PC, my Nokia N95 and my iPod Touch ALL connect to the same wireless network without any problems whatsoever, first time, every time!
If I boot into Windows XP from my Boot Camp partition, XP can connect wirelessly to the network without any problems, so it is not MacBook hardware related...
It has to be a bug in Mac OSX... doesn't it?!?
Things I have already tried (following suggestions on many forums):
    * Switching Airport off/on
    * Deleting various network-related Plist files and rebooting
    * Manually assigning an IP Address (not really permitted but doesn't work anyway!)
    * Disabling all network adaptors except Airport
AP Grapher shows that the MBP is connected to the wireless network, at good strength, and packets are being sent and received, but Internet Access is not possible as no IP Address has been assigned. Instead, my MBP shows a 169.* IP Address (self-assigned). It should be a 10.1.255.* address.
Can anybody please help? Thank you.

i posted this same reply elsewhere because it worked for me for my Buffalo wireless router: try manually setting your IP address instead of relying on DHCP, which sometimes (I don't know why) doesn't work well with Macs. It's a good get around. I am a happy Mac user but nothing is perfect on earth, and when the Mac gives problems, it does give a lot of frustration. Macs are not as easy to troubleshoot as Win because a Mac is built to be user friendly(and it works most of the time), meaning a lot of the background computing stuff is hidden away from users to avoid user accidentally upsetting some settings.
Unfortunately, the highly automated troubleshooting wizards provided by OS X are not perfect so when these software wizards fail to resolve the problem, like my Network Diagnostics, I have to spend more time tinkering around. There's "Terminal" of course but then most of us, especially PC converts to Macs, don't know how to use it.
You should also try updating your MBP, see if there are any new updates being released.

  • WRT54G ver.4 will not connect to some wireless adaptors

My WRT54G v4 has the latest firmware. It connects to several wireless laptops just fine, including macintoshs.
However our Xbox360 wireless adaptor does not connect, and neither does one Dell laptop we have.
We have already made sure we have the right WEP key entered etc., we basically cloned the settings from the laptops that do work. We have DHCP enabled.
What happens is the Xbox360 sees the network, connects fine, but is not assigned an IP address and so cannot access the internet or LAN.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Horsey!
Set the wireless mode of router to mixed.
The Dell laptop has it's own utility, use that coz that would be much easier to connect wirelessly.
For the XBOX, is it set to obtain an ip address & dns servers?? If so, assign an IP on your XBOX that is just in range of the router. [i.e. 192.168.1.10] By the way, IP that you're going to assign should be below 50.

  • New Officejet 4500 will not connect wirelessly

We just got a new Officejet 4500 that I began to set up last night.  First I followed the recommended setup path for setting it up wirelessly: USB connection to my MacBook Pro, install the software, use the setup wizard, etc.  It chugged away for a while and eventually I got back a bunch of errors "Failed to retrieve IP".
I have a wireless hub provided by my ISP which I have set up with WEP (no Mac filtering, no special firewall within the home network).  After googling around for a while I decided to switch to WPA personal.  I got my MacBook working with that, then tried the printer wireless setup wizard again.  No go, same errors.
Next I tried setting it up (still with WPA) directly on the printer using it's menus.  This also didn't work.  The printer printed out a Wireless Network Test Report which looked like this in the Diagnostics Summary:
    Wireless On: PASS
    Wireless Working: PASS
    Network Name (SSID) Found: PASS
    Security: PASS
Printer Settings Consistent with Wireless Router Settings: PASS
    No Filtering: FAIL
    Connected: Not Run
    Signal Strength: Very Low
Other networks detected matching your network name (SSID): No
    Downlink count: 2
    Channel: Not Run
I also switch back to WEP and reran the setup via the printer menus, and failed the same way and got the exact same diagnostic summary.
    What now?

  • New 15" MBP will not connect to my wireless network

This is my first Mac, so I will try to give as much information as possible.
I have a brand new (got it yesterday) 15" MBP and it refuses to connect to my home wireless network.  It is an older "g" network using a Linksys router and 128bit WEP encryption.  For reference - I have an iPad and 2 iPhones in my household, and those have all connected to the same network without problem, as have the 2 windows laptops that my wife & I use for work so I don't think it's the network.
Anyway - I fired up the MBP and went through the set up assistant.  When I try to join my wireless network, it detects the network fine.  I select the network and try to connect.  It goes throught the process and then I get a prompt that says "Network conditions have changed".  I click OK and it prompts me to enter the password for the wireless network.  (At this point I have the little exclamation point in the wifi symbol on the top of the screen telling me I have no internet access - which I believe is how it's supposed to look).
On the password screen, I select "WEP 40/128 Hex" as the password type -  on the security information screen in the router set-up it says "WEP 26 hex 128 bit" as the type, so I believe that's the correct password type for the MBP.  I enter the 26 digit key (the same one that I used to connect the iPad/iPhones) and after trying to connect for a couple minutes I get the "Network conditions have changed" prompt again.  I click OK, and then it tells me it failed to connect to the network.
I have tried entering the WEP key with a "$" in front of it and entering it with "0x" or "0X" in front of it and the same thing happens.  I've also tried changing the password type to "WEP Password" and entering the password I used in the router to generate the hex key, and the same thing - it tries to connect and then I get the "Network conditions have changed" prompt and it tells me it failed to connect.
I am at a loss.  I haven't touched the router's settings because everything else I have (Apple and non-Apple products) have all connected just fine - all I've had to do is enter the WEP key and they have connected.
What am I doing wrong?  Is the MBP somehow different and I need to change something in the router settings?  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, BT Hubs do not play well with HP printers, probably because they do not strictly follow wifi standards.
One thing to try is to change your encryption to WPA ONLY.

  • Printer will not connect to new BT Home Hub 5

    Hello all
I have just received a new BT home hub 5. I am using an Apple Mac Pro which has connected fine to the new home hub but my printer won't connect via wireless. The printer advises me to "Press WPS button on router to connect" which I am doing; the printer then tries to connect but comes back with an error after 2 minutes saying "WPS error. Press ok to retry".
(Note: I previously had a BT home hub 3 which was connected successfully to the same printer).
I would appreciate any advice as this is driving me mad trying to get it to recognise the new router.  (I am unable to manually select the network and input the pass key as there is no option in the LED window to choose network.)

    Hi @RuthKJ
    Instead of using the WPS method to connect the printer to your new router let's try the following steps;
I use this method for iPads, iPhones and other devices that do not have software.
Restore the network defaults on the printer by pushing the wireless button, going to settings, and then restore defaults. The wireless button should then start flashing, this means it is now in autowireless mode.
Connect to the network that the printer is broadcasting. It is usually HP-setup-3050a and then part of the MAC address. The wireless light will still be flashing on the printer at this point, this is normal since this is not an actual adhoc connection.
Load up the Embedded Web Server (EWS) in the browser on your mobile device. The default IP for autowireless is 192.168.223.1.
Go to the network tab along the top of the EWS.
Click on Wireless Setup Wizard along the left hand side to begin configuring the printer.
You have now completed the Wireless configuration, follow the next 3 steps to start printing.
The blue wireless light will go solid, put the Mac back on your own network.
Add the printer to the System Preferences.
    Print
