HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP Wireless Connection Lost

Setup
HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP (hereafter MFP) connected wirelessly to Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS).  Two MacBook Pros (MBP) also connected wirelessly to AEBS.  MFP has been assigned a fixed IP address which has been removed from the AEBS's DHCP range.
Problem
Sometimes (but not always) when attempting to print while the MFP is sleeping (but blue wireless light is still on) MFP is not visible to the Macs and therefore they cannot print to it.  The HP Utility also fails to find the printer, displaying only the information that seems to be stored in Bonjour.  Once, after an attempt to print resulted in the printer not being found, I tried to turn the MFP off.  Until I canceled the print operation it wouldn't turn off.
I used to have an HP Officejet 6500 with wireless and can recall neither having to assign it a fixed IP address nor experiencing these problems.
Any thoughts?  Do I have a problem that Bonjour and IP are both on?  Is the MFP failing to respond to a wakeup signal from the AEBS?

  • HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP switches itself on

My Officejet Pro X476dw MFP just switched itself on.  It has been off for a few days; not sleeping, off.  I waited for it to do something, but it did nothing.  So I started the HP Utility to check whether the settings that govern sleeping and turning off and on had been changed.  They hadn't.  A few minutes later the printer seemed to be preparing to print something.  It displayed a message, "Preparing n ...", where n counteed down to zero, and then the paper door opened but nothing came out.
Is this expected behavior?  The printer's firmware is up-to-date.  It is running in a Mac environment, connected wirelessly to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station with a fixed IP address.  Two MacBook Pro's running OS X 10.9.5 and an iPad 3 and an iPhone 4S running iOS 8.3 are also connected wireless to the AEBS.
    Thanks,
    Richard

  • Officejet Pro X476dw MFP not reachable

    Hi,
out of the blue my Officejet Pro X476dw MFP turned 'not reachable' from my MacBook. Device is still connected to my Wifi network, no changes there since last use. I can print ok from my iPhone. I turned the device off and on again - no success. I turned the MacBook off and on again - same. I reconfiguered Wifi connection at device - same. I deleted printer from MacBook and tried to re-add but installation program couldn't find device. I tried to connect manually using IP address that was shown on device - 'device not reachable'.
I am running out of ideas, appreciate any help!
    Thank you!

  • Officejet Pro x476dw MFP

Our Officejet Pro x476dw MFP leaves a line on copied and scanned documents when we place the originals in the feeder.  If we copy or scan from the glass, no lines appear on the copies or scanned documents.  We have cleaned the glass numerous times.  Does not seem to make a difference.

  • Cannot scan or copy with HP OfficeJet Pro X476dw MFP

I purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro X476dw MFP a few months ago.  For about 1 month, everything was going great.  Now I cannot scan or copy (although printing from various computers on my home network still works just fine).  Whenever I try to scan (to either a computer on the network or to a memory stick) or a simple copy, the "magic wheel" just keeps spinning and there is a red x on the lower right of the control panel.  Any suggestions?  Calling the HP support desk has been absolutely worthless.  I get put on hold, get transferred 3-5 times, and I literally cannot understand the people I am talking to.

    Hi,
I suggest reading this post and following the same instructions provided orginally, as this is the Consumer Forums!

  • Printhead issues with HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP

I have a HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP at my home office that I use for when I work from home. The printer was purchased about 8 months ago but get very little usage as its just used by me a couple of days a week at most when I stay home and work. I freezes once in a while like I seen other people complain about but today a whole section of the printheads stopped working completely, there are no streak just a white stripe going down all my documents. I tried cleaning the print heads and then it gave me an error telling me to restart the printer. I did and re ran the printhead cleaning utility. It finished the second time but when the report page printed out it was still the same. I think that the print head on that part of the paper migh have just died. This is really annoying since my last HP Printer was still going strong about 10 years after I purchased it and this one that I paid top dollar in comparison to my other options is pretty much useless after exactly only 2016 printed pages, I just replaced the first black cartridge last week. Has this happened to any body else, is there a way to fix it? The image below is the printout i got after the printhead cleaning showing the write stripe I get on every document I print or copy.

Printhead bar faulty.,Remove back cover, refix print head bar flex cables & try for luck...submit in HP authorised service center for print head bar replacement..

  • Hp officejet pro x476dw MFP - making awful noises

We purchased a hp officejet pro x476dw printer after alot of research and lengthy discussions with HP Canada to determine the best printer which would meet our needs.  We purchased it Oct 2014 and it quite working April 2015. We had not purchased the extended warranty. The printer makes an awful noise and then freezes and will not allow a restart.  We are unable to get it to power off using the on/off button and must then just unplug it.  After letting it sit for a period of time to "empty it's memory" we plug it back in and let it do its restart, which takes a very long time.  Then it recognizes it was not shutdown correctly and gives us a warning message. What we have noticed is sometimes the print tray with the ink cartridges seems to get stuck mid position and no matter what we do it will not move.  Then there are times we cannot get the ink cartridges to engage - they remain in the ejected position.  Even if we take them all out and reinsert them there is no guarentee that this problem will not reoccur. If we bypass paper tray 2 and use tray 1 (the manual bypass) we can get it to print sometimes but the print quality is absolutely unreadable.  And this is after we have completed numerous cleaning cycles. I have a 4 sec video clip of the noise.  It sounds like gears grinding. Can anyone please offer some insight? SincerelyAl3201

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 a910 wireless connectivity issues?

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 a910 and It was working fine. I got a new router and it was still working fine. Second night of having everything set up it stops working and  shows as offline on my computer. It will print information about the printer from thecomputor but will not print out any other documents.

I'm having the same issues. In my case, first I updated my MacBook Pro to OS X 10 Mavericks. A few days ago, the Actiontec gateway router provided by my ISP Frontier Communications ceased to function. Frontier sent a Netgear 7550 gateway router to replace it. I installed it according to directions. My email capability and home network went down. Frontier helped to restore the email but the techs I worked with couldn't figure out what to do to restore my wireless network. The router's setup would not allow me to replace the WPA Shared Key with the wireless network password I used previously. So, I updated the ASUS range extender and all the wireless devices that were on my home network with the new WPA key. Both printers, the Officejet Pro 8500A 910 and a Brother wireless laser, will not network. The Officejet blue wireless icon no longer lights up. I uninstalled the Officejet's software and then downloaded and installed the latest software and drivers for the Officejet Pro 8500A 910.  The HP  Network Configuration printout indicates that its network status is ready and the active connection type is wireless. I had it connected to my Mac with a USB cable so I could reinstall the software and drivers. When I disconnected the cable, I lost connection to the Officejet and couldn't print. the HP utility could not establish a wireless connection even though I did input all the new router settings. The Officejet thinks it's wireless but it isn't. I can only conclude that my Officjet is delusional. It's not all that old, but could it be ready for the all-in-one graveyard?

  • OS 10.10 Yosemite and Officejet Pro X476dw MFP

After upgrading to OS 10.10 yosemite my scan to network folder no longer works but instead returns error message:
Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again.
Username and password are correct. IP address and folder path are correct.  Have re-started, re-entered username and password, etc. to no avail.
HP Driver Support website has no printer driver available for 10.10. (only a firmware update of some sort for 'fleet management')
Is there a driver available for 10.10 somewhere else?
Is there a work-around meanwhile if not?
If not does anyone know when an updated driver is expected to be available?
    Thanks

I am having the same problem. I did the download of HP-Officejet-Pro-X476_X576-MFP_v12.34.0.dmg and ran the installer, but I still am getting the Incorrect credentials.  message.
    Your help is greatly apprciated.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus - Wireless connection issues with Wireless Extender

I have a TPLink Wireless 300MBps wall plug extender to boost the wireless signal around my home.
When in use my OfficeJet fails to connect to the wireless network at all, even if you 're-configure' the wireless as a new connection from the printer.
Turn off the extender, reboot the printer, and voila - it connects within seconds.
Any ideas as to what I can try?

I think there are several things at play here.  The most suspicious is that the extender and the router are not the same brand.  There may be some protocol issues with this setup that the printer will never be happy with.
Can you move your main router and forget the extender?

  • Install OfficeJet Pro X476dw driver on Win 7 Enterprise 64 bit w/o admin rights

    Dear all,
I have an OfficeJet Pro X476dw for my home office and I would like to use this printer on my company PC. Unfortunately the standard Win7 Enterprise 64 bit installation does not come with a set of drivers for the OfficeJet Pro X476dw. Unfortunately my company does not allow the installation of not company certified drivers and they did turn down my request to certify the official HP drivers. Thus my question:
is there any readily built-in driver in Win 7 that could be used to run the OfficeJet Pro X476dw
    Any advice is highly welcome!
    Best Regards,
    Vome

    Thanks Futoji,
Meanwhile I figured out how to solve it for my Win 7 Enterprise 64bit:
    1) download PCL 6 Driver with Installer
    2) Run the installer (which will fail)
    3) get the extracted files (should be in c:\users\<profile name\App Data\Local\temp\<number> (you'll identify it via the most recent date, copy path)
    4) kick-off the printer detection routine using "Add printer" > "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer"
    5) take the printer without port 3911 specification
    6) Select  "Have Disk ..." and provide the driver (paste path)
    7) select HP OfficeJet Pro X476dw MFP PCL 6 driver
    8) test
It did work out for me.
    Best Regards,

  • Officejet Pro 8610 - Can't connect to wireless network (and has similar issue with previous printer)

When I returned from a trip, I was unable to connect to my trusty HP All-in-one 7510 that I had on my network for three years.  I tried troubleshooting it, reinstalling the software on numerous computers, and fixing the printer, but alas the printer said that it was connected to the network, and none of my computers wanted to find it anymore.
Then I bought my new Officejet Pro 8610 this week, set it up...and I am experiencing the same issue.  I tried using the link and support took from this post - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officejet-Pro-8610-Can-t-connect-to-wi... but the printer was unable to be found on the network.
I would appreciate any help on this issue.  Thanks!

  • HP 8600 OfficeJet continues to lose wireless connection

Hello - I just purchased this printer for the purpose of wireless printing from my iPad, iMac, iPhone, and the fact that the old HP was several years old and beginning to not work correctly. So the Windows Xp is also a factor in printing. The iPad, iMac, and iPhone did recognize the printer the first time and printed what I sent as a test. I read through the set up that is quite simple. The first time every device connected and was able to print to the printer. I even set up emails that would be used to send to the printer when I am away. This all tested out correctly. It is a secure network (entered my SSID key that was accepted) and if I have to use this printer on an unsecure network I'll take it back to the store. **** The very next day nothing worked because the printer lost the wireless connection. I went through the set up again to re-establish the connection. That worked fine. **** Even still the next day after doing all of that the printer was again not printing because it was not recognizing the wireless. I tried numerous things and as of this posting the printer will not work wirelessly or USB connected. I rebooted the router, computer (Windows xp), and printer. I went through the install again and the printer says it's connected. I do notice that the 'fan' that shows the wireless (blue light at bottom right) is off but the blue light is on. The power button light also flickers off and on. So, back to running all the set up and re-installs. I did this several times and pulled the USB plug when instructed by the set up. Still nothing. I also went through the printer to do the troubleshooting that the help suggests and the displays and reports are showing nothing that says the printer is not connected. The report actually says the wireless connection is working. None of the other devices that are wireless have ever had a problem on this router. Those work just fine. I read through this forum and didn't see anything that looked like the problem I am experiencing. What next? Thank you Daria This is the set up: Hp Officejet 8600 wireless printer Windows XP SP3 DirectTV DSL wireless router

It seems that any little glitch, power loss, no paper etc, causes a major search on how to restore my HP Officejet Pro 8600 to wireless internet connectivity. (Networked with IMac and another PC with windows)Is there a reason that this happens and therefore a standard correction?

  • Officejet Pro X576dw MFP and Yosemite won't scan

Our new Officejet Pro X576dw MFP no longer scans. It was working fine and I'm not 100% sure that it stopped scanning when I upgraded to Yosemite, or if that's just a coincidence. The computer monitor is an iMac.
    The error message is
The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues:
-Connection to the computer is lost
-The scan application on the computer is currently in use
-OCR application is not installed on the computer
See the computer monitor for details.
When I try the work around of scanning through the Preview app, the document doesn't feed into the scanner. The wheels turn but the document doesn't feed. A document is imported to the computer monitor but it's blank.
I really need the scanner to work.  Any ideas?

I've found a work around.  Open System Prefs/Printers & Scanners. Click on HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP in the left hand pane, then Scan at the top of the box on the right.  Load your document into the scanner and click Open Scanner. Now, make sure the "Use Document Feeder" box in new Scanner window is checked and click Scan in the bottom right of the window. If thta box isn't checked nothing will happen.
You'll find the scan titled "Scan" in the Pictures folder.
