HP Pavilion dv7-4015ew secondary disc SSD and Recovery Manager

Dear Friends !
HP Pavilion dv7-4015ew + AMD 4 egs Phenom II N970 Quad-core 2,2 GHz + 8GB Ram
I bought:
 - SSD GOODRam C40 128 GB
 - Cable connector: 23,5 cm long (netto - only cable) or 28,5 cm (brutto- all lenght). = Look fine, I can put it
1. We have to options slot = 1. HDD 2. SDD or 1. SDD 2. HDD - when put all together (1.2 or 2.1) these it not work, comp even start (led is one signal and dead)
Do I have good connetor cable? or what? or mabe I must turn on something?
2. only 1. SDD
Start Recovery Manager from Pendrive USB and we have 4 options:
2 and 4 = laptop is coppy windows file, rebot, show bios HP, suspend !
I turn off, turn on = and I have Recovery Manager ?!?
I turn off, remove Pendrie USB, turn on = HP say " I dont have disc inside" ?!?
3 (oryginal widows and software and HP software, like brand new)  = HP say:  " uuu... You have to small disc, smaller than oryginal and I cant copy windows file"
P.S. in my oryginal  brand new HP I always do point 3 because is work fine and other points not work ( I dont know why - Hp do somethng wrong)
What is going on?
What big SSD I must buy to do point 3, 256Gb will be enought?
Kind regards
Mariusz

I do WIN 7 copy on my exterior HDD ( image screen win7) and I rec a DVD Win 7 starter ... you know what I mean
I put only SSD
I rebot my HP, plug dvd and starting... "get back fresch image" I detect my exHHD and pictures Win7 on it, pusch "next" ,"next" ...
and
HP say " There is no disc to do instal fresh image"
I have last chance , call to Miscosof for my Win7.iso image?

  • HP Pavilion dv7 - can't get access to recovery manager

I'm trying to restore my computer back to factory settings or just format it and start over.....  I go through f11 to recovery manager, but the only option I'm allowed to choose is to recover using disks.  I don't have the disks to do this.  How can I do any kind of recovery if I don't have access to the recovery partition?  I've tried restoring it to a previous time also, but It only gives me 4 days previous to select from as well.

You can order recovery media here, or call HP on the Phone to order a set.

  • Pavilion dv7-1285dx - HOW TO FIX FROZEN RECOVERY MANAGER!!!!

First, I apologize for having a second post on this, but I need an answer ASAP on how to proceed here.
In three trials now, this laptop has gotten stuck at 19% while attempting to recover from the partition.
I have left it on for nearly two hours straight with no progress. I would like to listen to the disk, but all I hear is the very loud fan on this computer.
How do I get this thing past 19%? I would prefer to get it done as quickly as possible after having spent over twelve hours attempting to fix this laptop.

Enter BIOS setup by tapping/holding the F10 key immediately after powering on the laptop.Use Diagnostics to test your hdd.

  • Dv6775us HP Backup and Recovery Manager software corrupted - can't find download

I am getting an HP error message saying the HP Backup and Recovery Manager software has been corrupted and needs to be updated. For over an hour I have been frustrated trying to find where on this site to download a replacement of what was installed or an upgrade that would repair the problem.
Can anyone point me to where I can get the software? Thanks.
    HP Pavilion dv6775us
    Vista Home Advanced

Did you make a recovery disk set or usb recovery media?
If you did, then you are in luck because  that is the software that can be used to reinstall the Recovery manager.
The downside is that you will have to do a  factory image recovery to reinstall the software.  A recovery is a destructive process, unlike a Windows stystem restore. A recovery will mean that you  will needto save all of your data externally  to avoid losing it and reinstall all of your programs after the recovery is complete.

  • HP Backup and Recovery Manager for Windows 7

I installed all the softwares and drivers that came along with the HP upgrade DVD. But, I find that the Backup and Recovery Manager missing on the DVD. Is there a Backup and Recovery Manager for Win 7? I liked the backup and recovery manager that was available on my Vista when I bought this laptop but is now unavailable because of the upgrade!! Any solutions for this? I do not want to use the default Windows Backup as I do not have a separate HDD at the moment to store the backup there and do not wish to populate my local hard disk with backup data!! Thanks.
    This question was solved.

Yea, basically. There's no working program for your laptop so it seems that you can use from within Windows 7.
However, if you have problems, recovery discs will work. As well, if your recovery partition still exists, you can still access it by pressing F11 when you see the HP logo at startup.

  • Pavilion Dv7 4165dx Hard drive failure and performance issues?

I have a pavilion dv7 4165dx notebook that was working great until a couple of months  when the performance of my machine started to decrease rapidly. I have performance issues with the machine because it takes 1 to 2 minutes to get from the welcome screen to the actual desktop and another 3 to 4 minutes for it to be ready to use. I already upgrade the memory from 4gb to 8gb but instead of going faster it goes slower and i also did a clean install of windows but it didn't help. Before i have problems it took maybe 30 to 50 seconds to go from the welcome screen to the actual desktop and 1 minute and 30 seconds to be ready to use and by the way i use soluto to tell me when the machine is ready for use. Then last week i notice that the headphone jack wasn't working properly so i contact hp and they told me to send them the laptop so i did, they replace the motherboard and they  send it back to me and i just got it today it got a little better but it still lags on the welcome screen and to open programs. I check the memory using memtest 86 and the memory it's fine, but i check the hard drive with HDD Regenerator 2011 and it show i have one delayed sector. Then i check on hd tune pro and it show me some WARNING on section Calibration retry count( as you can see on the picture below)  so my question is should i be worry and send it back to hp or what can i do to fix the problem i am having with this notebook?

I have the same laptop and have had issues with it since the day i brought it home. I have had it for a year now and am now replacing the hard drive for the 3rd time. My guess would be its your hard drive because most of the issues you seem to be having ar the same ones ive been dealing with for a while. I can say I'm very mad about the quality of this laptop and am in the process of  battling with HP over this issue. If you have a chance go online and look at all the hard drive issues that this laptop has had and even look at the HP forums for this issue it will irritate you and make you wonder why this hasn't been fixed yet!

  • HP Pavilion DV7-6190ED Windows 7 64-Bit Recovery not working

    Hello,
I just bought a new (used as showmodel) laptop at a local store.
But I'm having a problem with the recovery now.
    What happened:
When I first booted my laptop and after it started windows, I saw some flickering pixels on the screen. I did some research on that and looked at the computer, and found out that the drivers were conflicting with eachother. After that problem I tried a factory restore and removing and installing some drivers, this didn't work. After that I tried restoring with a minimalistic image (sorry if I misspelled), but when the restoring was complete it said that the restoring wasn't finished. My problem now is that it won't boot Windows anymore, but directly boots into recovery manager. I'm sure that the recovery partition exists and I don't have a recovery DVD.
I would be happy if someone is able to help me.

    Hi:
From what you wrote it appears you will either have to purchase a recovery DVD set by reading the info at the link below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
Or....make your own plain Windows 7 installation disk by following the instructions below (or do it temporarily until your recovery disks arrive).
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from Recovery Manager.

I got my son's older HP Laptop, and decided to restore it before using it for myself.  Previously it was working OK.  An HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from the Recovery Manager.  I have tried running the recovery manager from both the HD partion and the DVD media I created.  The HD and Memory pass.  The wireless f12 key is off, and can not be turned back on from the keyboard.  Some previous post have suggested the wireless being off could be a problem.   Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

    Hi
No that Recovery media won't work in your laptop.
ISO file can be used to clean install. You'll have to get all the 25 character alphanumeric product activation key printed on the COA label on the back of your laptop to be clearly & legibly readable for activation of ISO after install.
    Tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html
For additional drivers you can get them here:
    https://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=5197401&soft...
    AMD chipset driver :
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064
Download, save them to a USB and install them from there during/after Win 7 installation.
You have to first install chipset, restart system - then audio driver-restart, graphic driver- restart, ethernet controller(LAN), network controller(WLAN & Bluetooth), card reader, touchpad , Protect smart hard drive protection driver, quick launch software in order.
I could see that your model came with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) pre installed.
    Here is the ISO file:
    http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58997.iso
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 English
    Size: 3,243,070KB, MD5 hash: a319b5826162829c436306bebea7f0ff
    Source: http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/page-2#post-124821
Download , save it to another PC, then make a bootable DVD/USB by mounting this ISO on to it by using software like Imgburn (choose lowest speed while burning to DVD).
    Imgburn : http://www.imgburn.com/
This will be your Windows 7 installation disc.

  • Recovery from recovery discs made with recovery manager on g62

I got the blue screen of death and had to do a system restore for my hp g62 laptop. Before i restored the computer, the recovery manager launched and had me backup my files. I backed up the system on like 15 discs using hp"s recovery manager. After it was done, i returned the computer back to factory settings. Now, im having a problem using the recovery discs made thru the recovery manager. The files arent being read. I tried to copy them and move them onto the hard drive....and they are all saved as .wim files....which arent read by anything. So i have all my files backed up, but that arent opening. How the hell do i open my files that i backed up? How do i put my files back on the computer?

    Hi,
I've never really used the HP File Recovery system, but you can open an Image file as follows.
Download and install 7-Zip from the following link.
    http://www.7-zip.org/
When installed, right click on the .wim file, select 7-Zip, select Extract Files and click Ok - your files should be in the newly extracted folder.

  • 8i on Linux and Recovery Manager

Where are the recovery manager rdbms/admin scripts/package code for the 8i distribution?
'catrman.sql' did not install with my 8i EE for Linux.

Here is the instruction to create the recovery catalog (you can find this in the Installation Notes):
Perform the following steps if you want to create a recovery catalog:
Install Oracle8i on a separate machine from any other Oracle8i system and create a database for the recovery catalog.
If you choose not to write a custom script to create the database, create the default database with the OUI. The default database is adequate for the recovery catalog.
Create a user in the recovery catalog database to be the RECOVERY_CATALOG_OWNER.
As the RECOVERY_CATALOG_OWNER, run the createCatalog command at the Recovery Manger prompt.

  • Volume key on HP Pavilion dv7 stops responding from now and then, also issue with finger scanner?

First problem I've been having would have to be the finger scanner. I've only been using this to sign into Windows, but after a day or so of use it would occasionally stop responding (forcing me to sign in manually or reset to fix it).
For the Volume keys, I've been having trouble getting them to adjust the sound from time to time. Sometimes it works, others it wont (even though the icon screen appears showing they're being pressed, there's no change in volume). I'd end up having to bump the vol up or down manually in the bottom right corner to get it working again). But after awhile the issue ends up reoccuring again.
I can live with the finger scanning problem but this volume thing is starting to get to me.

    Hello Laurie,
What is your product number and operating system?  I'll send you a link to the steps to help get everything back, once I get this info from you.
    Thanks!

DST failed means the hard drive has failed or is failing fast. It will need to be replaced. If you are in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not you can use a retail laptop SATA hdd.Just be sure to get one of at least equal or larger capacity as the original 500gb in order to use Recovery Discs.
You will also need Recovery Discs to install Windows and software/drivers on the new hdd. Hopefully you have made a set-if not they can be ordered from HP for a small fee.
