HP Photosmart 335 print distortion on using Image Zone Express

Using HP Image Zone Express (the packaged software):
When I select a photo to print in the VIEW area I see a correctly proportioned picture.
When I press the PRINT tab the photo appears on the PRINT screen but it does not (and noticeably so) have the same print proportions as on the previous screen. The picture's length (height) increases in proportion to its width by an amount that makes a face in the picture appear thinner than it really is, .
This would not normally be a problem except that when I print the picture, the resulting print also shows these wrong proportions!
When I use Photoshop to print via this printer, the proportions are correct but the print quality is inferior.
Among the actions I have performed to try and solve this problem are:
I have checked and found that my printer drivers are up-to-date.
I have tried putting all settings back to their defaults.
I have restarted the printer, the software and the computer (I have not re-installed anything).
I have tried printing smaller images than the paper size (10x15cm) with the same result. Strangely, when I do this, the printer tells me that the image is larger than the paper and some cropping will occur!
An additional defect that possibly has nothing to do with the "proportions" problem is: The print "centering" (on the page) function does not seem to work at all.
Any ideas or help with this proportions problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mel, yea if you've tried all the usual troubleshooting then it could be worth checking you have the latest SW & driver

    HP Photosmart 8750 prints slow when using Photo Gray Cartidge ... sometimes indicates Black Cartridge failed, however upon reinserting works slow

    Welcome to the HP Forums ButchG,
    I see by your post that when printing with the photo gray cartridge the black cartridge will indicate that it has failed.
    I can help you with this issue.
    I would do a power reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
    With the printer still turned on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer, if the printer has external power module with a detachable power cord disconnect it for 15 seconds and then reconnect it.
    Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to drain the power.
    Then disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
    Wait 10 seconds and reconnect the power cable back to the wall outlet first, then the back of the printer and power it on again.
    Make sure the printer is connected directly to wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
    I have provided a document for the cleaning the contacts and reseating the cartridge.
    'Cartridge Failed' or 'Cartridge Not Compatible' Error Message.
    What are the ink levels?
    Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
    Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)
    If you need further assistance, let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • New iMac won't let me use Image Zone

    I have an iMac running OS X 10.9.4.
    I've always used HP Image Zone with my old but still-going-strong Photosmart 3210 printer/scanner, particularly to edit my photos.
    Although the Mac is quite happy to talk to the printer, and print and scan, it will not install Image Zone because it says "Power PC applications are no longer supported".
    Is there a fix for this? A new App or plug-in maybe?
    The available downloads I've tried don't do the trick, and I really can't get on with iPhoto.
    This question was solved.

    Hi higgi-san, welcome to the forums!
    I noticed your post about not being able to use Image Zone with your OS X 10.9.4. After checking into this for you, there is no full software available on Mavericks for the Photosmart 3210.

  • How do I change my HP Photosmart C4580 printer wireless settings using the apple provided drivers?

    I have a mac pro running the Yosemite OS.  I have a HP Photosmart C4589 all in one printer that had been working fine until I replace my router.
    Now I can only use the printer as a usb.  I know I need to change the wireless settings in the printer but have not learned how to do so.
    The printer software is not compatible with Yosemite so I cannot use the hp software to change from usb to wireless.
    Based on all that I have read I tried to download replacement hp software and still had no way to change the printer wireless settings.
    I uninstalled that software and went to Apple and downloaded drivers but there is no software that will allow me to change the printer wireless settings.
    What can I do now?

    From the front of the printer (probably the Wireless or Network menu), Restore Network Defaults.
    Now on your PC:
    1. Start > Control Panel > Printers - delete the printer.
    2. Start > All Programs > Hewlett-Packard > [C4500 series] > Add a Device.  You will want to add a network device.  Eventually it will ask you to connect a USB cable to the printer in order to communicate the network info to the printer.
    Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • HT4356 Any ideas if you have an hp photosmart 6180 printer you can use air print?

    Two questions
    1.  Can you use a HP Photosmart 6180 as an air print printer.
    2.  How can you use an iPad with a projector to present presentations using key note heard people say you can use an iPhone 4s to control the iPad but not sure how.

    For printing see:

    Hello bjk3677, While there is a possibility that you may have a hardware fault, I would suggest downloading and intalling the software/drivers for your printer just to rule out that the issue may be caused by a software issue.
    The drivers can be found  Here . Since you didn't mention the version of your operating system, you can select the version you require from the list available.

  • HP Photosmart 8450 printer/airport express

    I am unable to get my HP Photosmart 8450 printer to work wirelessly with Airport Express. Does anyone have any suggestions or is this just impossible with this model printer? Many thanks

    iFelix states that it is NOT compatible... and it seems to me that the workaround is really clunky at best.

    I am really curious if this message post on Paul's Time Sink is accurate...
    http://www.paulstimesink.com/post/2007/05/25/hpphotosmart_c3180_airport_expressupdate
    So there are conflicting reports. Has anyone had success with an Airport Express or Extreme with the C3180 connected directly to it and the newest HP drivers?
    I'd really like to know before I go out and buy a new router to then have to deal with the hassle of it not working - and having to buy a new printer would really suck!
    Thanks in advance for any help,

  • Photosmart 8450 prints are distorted

    My Photosmart 8450 has started distorting the image on the photos and the cradle keeps jamming.  Also, the edges of the photos are wavy.  Has anyone else experienced these problems?  If so, are they repairable?

    I got things to print propely when using a memory card (!) I must be 'old fashioned' for trying to print from desktop via cable.
    I went from:
    http://www.fractalfreak.com/wx/c310_1.jpg
    Where every image printed too dark, despite modiftying the printer properties from hp solution center (paper type, color management, max dpi,, etc.). Always printed too dark. The middle image, which printer properly, was a test print made during the end of installing the printer software.
    I then transferred some images to a 1GB sd memory card. Images printed via memory card look good. Apparently that's why printer does not include a USB cable - you're intended to print from memory card. Windows XP interface to printer buggy. Also, .png and .bmp (lossless) file formats not recogized by printer - only jpg ??
    Printed from memory card image brightness looks good (matches test image finally)

    Perhaps you can enlighten us as to what "does not print correctly" actually means.
    Miss-spells your name? or what?
    How have you set up your Page set-up?
    It has to agree with how you are feeding the envelope in and what printer driver you are using.

  • PrintDataGrid's DataGridColumn - Embedded image not printing when you use TextFlow in the item rende

    I'm printing a datagrid using something like  this...
    <mx:PrintDataGrid
      id="printDataGrid"
      width="100%"
      height="100%"
      showHeaders="false"
      borderVisible="false"
      horizontalGridLines="false"
      variableRowHeight="true"
      dataProvider="{titles}"
      >
      <mx:columns>
       <mx:DataGridColumn
        itemRenderer="renderer.TitlePrintRenderer"
        />
      </mx:columns>
    </mx:PrintDataGrid>
    TitlePrintRenderer.mxml has s:RichText component. I use  RichText's textFlow property to render the text. The approach is working fine  except that if the textFlow has embedded images (<img source=... />), the  images are not printed!
    Is this a bug? Is it a limitation? Has anyone come  across this issue?
    I'm using Flex SDK 4.5.1

    After struggling for 4+ days on using timer / events for printing PrintDataGrid with embedded images in RichText's textFlow, I tried your other suggestion... to convert <img> tags to InlineGraphicElement and give it Bitmap from image loaded from a .gif file. The approach works but the printout skips images in a few rows!
    I've this test case in which, every time I print, it skips printing image in the second row! I also implemented this approach in a more complex test case and depending on the total number of rows, it would skip printing image in different number of rows. I'm suspecting that even if you construct InlineGraphicElement from bitmap loaded from an image, PrintDataGrid's renderer still skips printing image intermittently.
    I would very much appreciate it if you could create small project from my following code and verify this behavior. I'm at my wit's end in getting this printing to work.

    My photosmart c7250 all-in-one used to allow me to print in black and white only if I changed properties to print in grayscale, black and white only.  Now it says it won't print until I replace one of the empty color cartridges.  I do no understand why the color cartridges are running out when I only use my black cartridge.

    I still don't understand the difference between what I used to be allowed that I'm not allowed now.  I was able to bypass the empty color cartridges by changing my print property to "grayscale" and "black only".  Now I'm not allowed to bypass???

  • Scanning/Printing Documents to PDF using Image Capture

    I am trying to scan a document (8.5 x 11) using image capture and then email it so that the recipient can read and print out an identical copy.  Even though I can successfully scan the document as a PDF using Image Capture, the document visually appears MUCH larger when the recipient receives and tries to print it.  The resulting printed copy shows only a fraction of the total text, but blown up.
    I have Image Capture configured as follows:
    Scan Mode:  Flat Bed
    Document:  Text
    Bit Depth:  1
    Resolution:  300
    Source Size:  8.50 x 11.00
    Scaling:  100%
    New Size:  8.50 x 11.00 ;
    Format:  PDF
    When I view a document scanned using the above settings in Preview, it looks fine.  The only problem is when I view it in Print Preview and/or print it.  Again, it is "blown up".  Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it???  Thanks.

    Try with a resolution of 75 or 150.
    Also when printing there are options to "fit to 1 page". The recipient should do that.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 prints are misaligned using hp photosmart 7510

    I have Photoshop Elements 10 and when I print a photo using HP Photosmart 7510 the picture is misaligned on the paper. If I print from Windows Photo Gallery the picture is align perfectly. This is a brand new printer.

    The white edges should not be showing. The brown around the picture is just a backing I used so the picture would show up better. If I use Windows Photo Gallery to print the same picture it comes
    out boarderless like it should, but when I use Photoshop Elements 10 this is what happens. I worked fine with my old printer.

  • I have an iPad 2.  I cannot get it to print from our Hp photosmart 6525 printer.  Both Hp and apple say these machines can use AirPrint.  Can anyone help

    I have an iPad 2 and cannot get it to print from our p photosmart 6525 printer.  Does anyone know how to get the AirPrint to work between these two machines?

    Hi,
    As soon as the devices connected to your network the printer should appear as AirPrint.
    You may ensure it is connected by clicking the wireless icon on the printer screen to locate its IP, then type the IP into Safari and check if you can access the printer homepage from your iPad.
    If the printer conncted but still not being detected as AirPrint, ensure you have the latest firmware for your printer:

    If the printer still not being dedected I would rather suspect the network as AirPrint uses Apple Bonjour and therefore require your network to support multicasting to operate..
    You may test it by temporary setting direct connection using Wireless Direct, if the printer being detected without using the router please clarify your router brand and model to better understand your router capabiities.
    The steps to enable Wireless Direct can be found listed below:
